Do not stay in the Hotel Magnific.
Do not be fooled by its beautiful surroundings we stayed there in Aug for two weeks and found the whole hotel to be an unwelcoming place from the owner/manager to the waiters on the beach.
The rooms were adequate but rarely cleaned - it was impossible to get served at the bar. The staff were horrible and constantly mixed drinks and served slops. The music is blasting out from 11am in the morning into the early hours of the next morning, you had to shout at each other to have a conversation.
The breakfast is lovely if you like flies with your food, never had dinner there.
This was our fifth consecutive holiday to Gumbet, never had any problems in our previous accommodation before with the owners. Just decided to stay near the beach for a change - O what a mistake, close it down it’s a disgrace.

The Magnific was an excellently located hotel in the middle of the promenade right on the beach.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was very varied and prices were competitive. The shopping was good for bags and shoes a great variety and cheap prices. A trip to the market on the local dolmus is a hair raising experience as there doesn't seem to be any rules of the road. Barter well for any trips.
A boat trip with 5 stop over’s to include camel beach and rabbit beach etc was 15 euro and included a trip to the local Turkish baths with free taxi transfers. Gumbet is tourist friendly and caters for all age groups.

Loved Turkey and Gumbet, shame about the hotel.
Poor standard of hygiene, rooms were very badly cleaned each day and the beach beds and sand area did not seem to be properly cleaned.
The music on the beach during the day was unbearably loud and destroyed my holiday completely, there was no hope of relaxing what so ever, and I would not recommend the hotel to anyone under 18.
Breakfast was basic but adequate.

Me and my fiancé are just back, from 2 weeks here. We would definately come back next week if we could lol, but next year will have to do.
Staff are friendly and the hotel is situated perfectly for the surrounding town. The beach is excellent and is literally your backyard when you stay here.
On a down note DO NOT take the water that is left in the room for you as it is warm and unrefrigerated and you will be charged over the odds for it so be careful!
Breakfast isn't good but thats just my taste, if you like typical continental it will suit you fine. Thats the only faults that we came across and still we would come back again and again as the hotel could not be better placed and the staff are more than helpful.
The area of Gumbet i would recommend to all and as it is a stones from Bodrum you have loads of things to do. I recommend the swimming with dolphins and Halicarnus nite club, also a boat trip is well worth the money and a good day out! Enjoy your stay at Gumbet and the Magnific!

We stayed at the Magnific Hotel in Gumbet for 1 week last July, we are going again this July (2007) and have booked to go for 2 weeks this time.
The hotel was nice, staff friendly and helpful. The pool is lovely, right on the beach. Lots of things to do, boat trips (which are cheaper if you arrange yourself on the beach, rather than through your tour operator), Turkish baths etc.
Very short walk to all of the shops and bars. You couldn't ask for more.
4 of us went last year (all aged 21-25), there are so many places you can eat out and it's quite cheap so only had bed and breakfast. Although did also eat snacks at the hotel and the food was great there.
We love Gumbet and can't wait to go back there. Now I have been to Turkey we wouldn't think of going to Spain for our holiday again.
Would recommend this hotel to anyone, however there are lots of nice hotels about the Ayaz is also a nice hotel, which is very close and also on the beach front.
The Turkish people are very friendly and will do anything to help you. Yes they do try to get you to go into every shop! But after a while you get used to it, doesn't really bother me too much, just need to be polite and say no thanks.
Can't wait to go there again this July!

Love the place going back again this year in June.
Hotel is well run, lovely people; you'd get sick of the guys in the town constantly trying to pull you into their shops though.
Try the boat trips excellent value great chance to get a tan, all very reasonable. This will be my 3rd year there the hotel has got cleaner over the years.
Beach is lovely just a stone’s throw away from the pool. It’s a place for all ages really, the loud music didn't seem to put many people off anybody I saw there over the 5 weeks were very happy.
Bodrum is worth a visit and also the market you’ll have to be in early though as its busy. Overall well worth a visit, very reasonable and you’ll want to go back.

This was a great holiday and we would definitely recommend it for young people. Does any one know the names of the songs the Magnific bar men put on their CD? We are dying to remember the names of the tunes and play them in rainy England and remember the happy hour!
Excellent pool and excellent location for Bar street and the beach. Eating out was great with free wine at most places and normally about £5 a head.
Dying to go back!

We spent 2 weeks at the Magnific. We found the complex well run, very clean, food great and mostly the staff were first class. Adam and his crew (especially pasha could not do enough for us).
We had a wedding anniversary while we were there and they got more excited than we did. The pool was excellent and the beach was a few paces away with plenty of water sports. The only area I was disappointed with was the local restaurants in Gumbet. Whereas they were clean, well laid out, reasonable menus, I found the service somewhat slow and on occasions food was not as hot as it should be.
Overall a very pleasant holiday and I would go again.

Hotel and staff great, friendly people, only draw back is that the music gets really ramped up after 11.00pm at the pool side bar. The local restaurants are very pushy as with all the shop keepers and traders. The small town is very lively and busy at night.
The hotel is literally a few paces from the beach and all the water sports, everywhere is kept very clean and tidy.
Hotel rooms clean, very well maintained and well presented, but no where to hang a lot of clothes. A nice touch is that each day the towels were arranged in a heart or a floral shape with flower petals to dress them. We went as a family, 11 and 14 year old girl and boy, they had a ball, pool clean and good, all facilities great. The Manager even came on the coach as we left to thank us all for our custom and wished us a safe journey home.
I would like to thank Adam and his team at the restaurant and poolside facilities for a really superb time. If I had employees that were as enthusiastic about making customers feel welcome and wanting their business as Adam and his team, I could retire in a very short time.
Thanks to everyone at Magnific, Magnific by name Magnificent by Nature, well done to all there, we will come back for another visit. Paul and Ruth Gibbin and family.

The hotel is fine, right on the beach (dirty and grey) so don't be too downhearted when you walk in through reception which is painted bright red and filled with red leather seats! There is a nice pool area which is kept clean although we tended to move away from it at happy hour because the music was so loud.
In fact during happy hour I would advise a long sleep on the beach, if possible, because the sound of ten-year old dance music will be blaring out from every hotel on the beach. Talking of which, the beach is an extremely thin and long man made thing which certainly doesn't live up to the pictures in the brochures.
A word of warning: do not venture into the town at any point. You will be met by hundreds of chavs which you would normally find on a Saturday night in Wigan.
Women should be careful because some of the Turkish men can be quite leery and at times, I found, very offensive. However this obviously doesn't speak for all of them as we met some really nice people as well.
We preferred to go into Bodrum which has a lovely harbour and has some really lovely restaurants which are very posh but not expensive. You can get a really great meal here, instead of the Sunday roasts and fish and chips you'll find in Gumbet. There are also some nice shops and bars.
If I’ve put you off and you've already booked; don't worry. We had a good time and made the best of a bad resort. The weather is amazing, the hotel was fine and you can get some great authentic food if you look hard enough.

Went to Gumbet in Aug 2005 and had a great holiday! The Magnific Hotel is a very basic hotel, the rooms are small and well worn but the location on the beach and pool bar make up for that!
Stayed b&b but never once made it to breakfast, didn't eat at the hotel much but there is a hotel nearby, along the beach, sun-club where the food is really nice and much cheaper!
The pool bar was always fun, with 2 for 1 at happy hour! If you happened to be in your room at happy hour you wouldn't need to worry as the music is pumped up so loud that it brings you out! Cocktails were really nice and the bar men were so friendly!
The hotel runs a Turkish barbecue night, with plenty of food and entertainment, this was a really great experience!
Overall it's a great place but the state of the rooms are a big let down as they are cramped, dirty and have no pool/sea view!

I stayed at the hotel with my girl friend. We are young but we felt that this wasn't the hotel for us as a couple.
It’s one really for singles, 16-21 in age and seemed to attract these in a fair number. We would have preferred something a bit more laid back rather than the constant dance music banging out all day and night.
The up side of the hotel is that it is right on the sea front and in a good location within the village.
The Turkish men were a bit funny with my girl friend. One was very rude and said things like I should be knocking her in to place if she didn't listen to me and do what I said, and he was trying to get us into his restaurant! I guess that what it is like there.
We made the most of the holiday but would of rather of gone somewhere more easy going.
