Just got back from this hotel... Thank god! The hotel was clean the cleaners were all nice but the food was just yuk!
The first couple of nights were ok! I suppose everything is nice when your starving! Went down one night for my tea! Found this fur on the tomato! And small flies yuk that was it...
They also used food from the night before. The waiters were grumpy! They were slow serving at the bar!
The receptionist were very nice. There are a lot of older people there at that time of year some people have been going there for 30yrs!
The lifts... Can't swing a cat there! And they kept breaking down!
If you want a bed in the morning you have to start to queue from 7.45 in the morning or you would be sitting in the pool!
Also men have to wear long trousers there at night! Or they won’t let you have your food!
Stupid! You’re on holiday in a warm place not in Iceland!

Not bad at all considering the good deal we got on price.
Room clean and tidy with a great view from the 8th floor. Luckily not to hot at night because no air con. Food not great but passable and a bit of a scramble at self service time.
We chose to eat out for lunch and evening meal and looked around at a few places for the first couple of days then ended up spending most of our time at a great little place on the sea front called Amigos. Sounds Spanish but it´s English owned by very friendly people who went out of their way to make us welcome.
During the day we just chilled out in the sun there drinking mugs of English tea and reading their newspapers and at night nearly always had one of their 3 course specials for only 7.95. How the hell they can do this including sirloin steak I don´t know, but it was really good food and not like the usual British pub type bars.
The beach in front of Amigos is the harbour beach which we found a nice quiet spot but further down is the bigger Las Vistas beach, which was busier and a little windier than the harbour beach.
Most nights we ended up in Irish Times above Fados, a really friendly place that has live Irish music until the band decide it’s time for home. Usually about 2 or 3. They had lots of guest artists up on stage and some we´re amongst the best singers I have ever heard, really professional. I swear a waiter from Amigos was on the stage one night playing an Irish drum with the band or maybe it was just the Guinness.
The works on the seafront promenade are now nearly complete and the place is looking very good. It’s lost a bit of character but definitely looks better, lots of new palm trees.
All in all we found Los Cristianos to be a very friendly place and will definitely be back as soon as we can and sample the Steak Pie at Amigos again.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for one week and had a really great time.
Okay the food wasn't fantastic, but for some to say it was inedible is rubbish. Breakfast consisted of allsorts- from cereals, yoghurts, and fruit, cooked (chef cooks eggs, omlette to order) sausages, bacon, orange juice, tea, and coffee are "on tap".
Evening meal consists of a huge selection of salads- just right after a long hot day on the beach. Then there are always a selection of hot dishes, paella, chips, fish, roast pork, rice selection of vegetables-no reason to go hungry here. Puddings consist of homemade rice pudding, ice cream, fruit salad, pastries. I'm sure I’ve forgotten lots of things but you will enjoy. Only downside was that we always had to wait for a table to be cleaned before we could be seated.
Our room was superb, clean, well decorated, colour TV. we had a lounge, (which had a sofa bed for a larger party than ourselves)good sized twin bedroom, and a very good sized bathroom, great shower with lots of hot water and shower gel and hair shampoo supplied from a dispenser. Towels were changed three times during our stay.
We got up early one morning (7.30) to go on the trip to see the volcano and were amused to see other people queuing to get their towels on the sunbeds. Very funny watching the stampede when the pool area was opened at 8 o'clock - a sight not to be missed.
We used the beach rather than the pool-there were no unreserved sunbeds by the time we got up- two beds and umbrella on the beach cost 9 Euros and are yours for the day.
We went on the whale and dolphin trip - booked at the kiosk by the boats- cost 40 Euros for the two of us- we saw both whales and dolphins, great experience.
The sports bar by the beach is to be recommended for a drink (1.50 Euros for a large beer) in the afternoon and maybe a snack. You can sit and people watch whilst enjoying a cold beer.
All in all a great holiday - we intend to return next autumn with my girlfriends three children and will be looking to book the sol Princesa Dacil again.

I, husband, and daughter aged 13 stayed for 2 weeks at the beginning of August. I found the food fine, service excellent, and customer relations excellent.
The hotel is set away back from the front so there is absolutely no noise around at night - infact the surroundings are very peaceful. I had a bottle of bubbly brought up to my room on my birthday (which is the first time this has ever happened on holiday) which was a lovely personal touch.
The entertainment team tried very hard and my daughter did not want to go home. So much so, we have booked again for 2008.

We have just come back from our holiday in Tenerife staying at the Princessa Dacil.
We paid a lot of money for this holiday as it was in half term week... I was disappointed with the food... thank goodness there was plenty of rolls and bread there as that was what I mainly ate!
It seemed that the chef would take the green beans from last night and put them into some pasta or rice the next night and call it a German salad. The breakfast was ok but quite greasy and you had to queue up to get a fried egg. If you wanted an omelette there was also a queue which got hot as you are near the heated plates. The last 2 nights of our holiday we ate out and the food was tasty and fantastic. I wouldn’t have a holiday with food included again as this has been an expensive experience.
We didn't even bother to go to the pool as every morning we didn't find 1 single sun bed that we could use as people had rushed out there and placed their towels on their bed. For us this wasn't a problem as we went down the beach and had some lovely times but again we had paid for this holiday with a pool included which we didn't use.
The maid service was great they cleaned the room’s everyday and left clean towels. The room didn't have air conditioning so was quite hot but some rooms on the higher floor did have it but you had to pay extra.
On the last day of our holiday we were told we would have use of a room to shower etc... what they didn’t tell us was that you had to book this on the morning that you were leaving.
By the time we came out after eating breakfast every single time slot except 2pm had been taken! This was far too early for us to have a shower as our flight was at 2.30 am, so we were offered a shower in the pool area. When we got there, there was a huge queue, only 1 shower in each of the men and women’s area and not much room to put your clothes etc. They did provide us with towels but we were lucky we got there when we did because the families after us were given no towels as they had run out!
Tenerife itself is a lovely place to stay the water park and loro park are all worth visiting although the free bus back from the water park had no air con and you had to fight your way on there.
We booked a free bird trip but it got cancelled due to choppy weather which was a bit disappointing. Also they didn’t tell us until we'd all been ferried there on the coach so we wasted half a day. To get our money back was a bit of a hassle, as they wanted to give it back to us at the airport! Which is no good to us, as we can't spend Euros over here.
However our rep Anthony from Thomas cook was quite helpful and was able to give us the cash back himself.
I would definitely go back to Tenerife again but I would not stay at this hotel at all and I wouldn't recommend it to anybody either. The food really let it down and as food is a huge part of a holiday it was disappointing.

The only two things going for the hotel is the cleanliness of the hotel and being approximately 200 metres from the beach.
There was No vegetarian main meals at the evening buffet - mainly Chips, croquet potatoes, sauté potatoes, and the tiniest amount of plain pasta, and salad for starters.
The entertainment reps weren't up to much, as they would take the mickey out of the different languages at every opportunity.
The one thing I should say is that there is a lack of umbrellas around the pool area. You almost have to go down on the undercover of darkness to stand any chance of getting a umbrella around the pool.
There is No hairdryer in the bedrooms. A fairly small balcony compared to some places I've stayed at. You can hire a fridge and a safe deposit box in the room for a small extra charge.
The trip to La Gomera, which I booked through the hotel, was well worth going on. You travel on a car ferry for a maximum 30 minutes before getting to La Gomera. On the trip there is plenty of photo opportunities, a meal, and the opportunity to see the La Gomera whistling.
We managed to see dolphins on both ways to and from La Gomera which was a added bonus.

Yes, I did rate this hotel with a 10 despite some of the negative comments in the other reviews. I have stayed at the Pincesa Dácil about fifty times spanning the last 30 years. I have already booked a week before Christmas and am today sorting out the best deals for January, March and July 2008 (I have booked to go to Crete in May and September). I am waiting for bookings to start for November next year.
Sometimes I go with a tour operator, others I arrange independently. There are plenty of flights to Reina Sofia and you can book your accommodation at www.solmelia.com / www.resorthoppa.com offer a cheap, efficient transfer. I suggest obtaining a MAS card
(application form at reception). You will earn points every time you stay at a Sol hotel
which can be used for free nights in the future.
I spent a week there last January and only paid for three nights (£120) and the flight (£80). Excellent value for a week of respite from the British winter. I am surprised that more people do not bother to get this card.
As for the Princesa Dácil, need I say more! Something for everyone - mini disco for the kids early evening followed by a variety of entertainment later on for the adults (outdoors by the pool or downstairs in the disco depending on the temperature).
Retired people stay there and if you are of the age that I was thirty years ago, a short taxi ride to Playa de las Americas brings all the lively night life you could ever wish for. For the gamblers amongst you there is even a casino.
Finally, spotlessly clean, wide choice of excellent food and friendly, helpful staff.
I recommend the Princesa Dácil to people of all ages and look forward to, maybe, seeing you there one day.
Buen viaje!

My husband and I together with my son and daughter- in-law stayed at this hotel to celebrate our ruby wedding anniversary and the birthdays of my son and his wife. We booked this holiday on-line, and never having been to Tenerife before, knew nothing about the hotels and the area, and did not know what to expect. I had checked other people’s reviews and some were unfavourable and some were very good. So we really had to wait until we got there to see for ourselves.
My son had booked two double v.i.p. rooms at extra cost in order for us to have air conditioning, but we were told that they did not know what v.i.p. rooms were, there were only standard, and superior rooms, so we thought we had booked the superior ones but were told no we had not, but after a few minutes, we were given two superior rooms at no extra cost, and all ended well.
The breakfasts were excellent and plenty of it in a very relaxed atmosphere, no-one rushing you to move out, and the tables cleared very quickly and re-set. A pleasant start to the day.
The evening meal was excellent also; I am a salad lover so it was my personal favourite all week, along with soups and other hot meals for those who preferred them and some delicious desserts.
If you decided you would be eating out the next night, the staff, if given 24 hours notice, would make you up a picnic lunch to take out with you to compensate for missing the evening meal that night.
The rooms were absolutely spotless, my sons room was forgotten once but they came up and sorted it out, and on my sons birthday they brought him up a bottle of champagne, and the day after it was my daughter-in-laws birthday and she got one as well, very good customer relations.
After one enjoyable breakfast we were in the lift, never had a problem at all with breakdowns (as mentioned in some reviews) and some youngish couples got in with us and all they did was moan about the breakfast and all that was any good was the toast, (I could honestly have slapped them) they had no idea what they were talking about, it's people like them that gives decent hotels a bad name.
We were minutes from the beach, there were shops nearby for water and papers, and the hotel also had machines for these items. I don't know about the children’s side of it as we do not have any but they all looked happy.
I was very pleased with the inside of the hotel, very expensive looking and very clean, fresh and airy, a lovely place to sit after being in the sun all day.
All in all a very, very pleasurable experience and we will definitely go again, in fact we have fallen so much in love with Los Cristianos, we are contemplating living there next year, just sorting things out at the moment.

My six year old granddaughter and myself have just come back from a two week holiday in the Princessa Dacil and can honestly say it is the best holiday we have ever had.
We go abroad every year but nothing we have been to can compare. The food was good the staff were marvellous.
The entertainment team were second to none, they were fantastic. I am already making plans to go back there next year.
It was a wonderful holiday and the children’s program was excellent, my little one did not want to leave, she had the time of her life.

Having just returned from the Princessa Dacil and read some of the negative comments about the hotel, I don't know what some people expect baring in mind this is a 3 star hotel.
I cannot fault the hotel in any way. It was clean, the food excellent, the staff were pleasant and helpful.
The only downside were our fellow holidaymakers. At times they were an embarrassment, some of them could have broken the 100 metre record when it came to 8am and the doors opened to the pool. In the end it became a standing joke, also there is a notice outside the restaurant asking people not to take food out but at breakfast time, a lot of diners were filling their bags with enough food to feed an army.
I’m glad to say the British weren't the worst but doing this could bump up the price of holidays there in the future.
I would definitely recommend this hotel there is something for couples and families alike and we will be returning there in the future.

Myself and my boyfriend have just returned from the resort and I honestly can’t think of any problems to say.
The only thing that I can think of was when are room key failed to open the doors one night, but this problem was resolved quickly n efficiently not causing us that much of an issue.
I was rather worried about the hotel before we were going as I had read some bad reviews on here, but I’m glad I ignored them as the hotel was fantastic!
The interior was nice and clean along with the bedrooms which were of a large size. The staff were very friendly and always helpful, especially the entertainment team.
Well what to say about the entertainment team... they were absolutly brilliant! I have never met such a lovely team of people who made everyone feel warm and welcome regardless of age.
I wasn’t expecting the entertainment to reach out to all ages I presumed it would be for the younger children, but this was not the case. I am a 20 year old student and although the bam bam club was not for me the other activities were definitely enjoyable like the water aerobics, tennis, football, rifle shooting, darts etc also the miss betty and Mr. macho competitions were very entertaining for all ages.
I found there was a variety in age at the hotel but everyone seemed to get on with each other regardless of age. The main reason for this I presume would be the activities and we were all encouraged to join in.
As for the night time entertainment wow! there was a different theme every night, ranging from circus acts, motown singers, various performances with dancing and singing, and lots of competitions and audience participation, which I thought was absolutely brilliant!
There was no need to fork out loads of money for the expensive trips out of the resort area; there was everything you needed in the hotel.
The entertainment stops at about 11pm-12pm, and if like I you’re a young person who likes your nightlife there’s plenty of choice. the local bars around the hotel offer late night entertainment and if your into the music scene like myself a cheap taxi into las Americas is all you need, and you will find yourself with the choice of many clubs and bars which are open till 5am so you can dance the night away or drink which ever you do best back home!
The local beaches are nice and clean and there are plenty of restaurants, but going half board meant we didn’t have to worry about eating as the food was delicious!
There was a nice variety from salads to hot food and a different country of themed food was out on offer every night which was nice to try every so often.
As I am a fussy eater I was worried the food would be very different than it is at home, but I found they had the typical English food on offer as well as new things to try so there was no problem.
Overall my experience at the hotel and resort resulted in myself and my boyfriend having one of the best holidays ever! and we WILL be returning in the near future.

Had a fantastic holiday! Hotel was nice and clean. Food was fantastic, have gone abroad now for 15 years and this is the best hotel food we have had.
The rooms were nice and spacious, staff were friendly. Pool area was very clean.
Entertainment was something else! Not our cup of tea. Did not spoil the holiday as visited the Irish Times every night down on the promenade 2 minutes from the hotel.
Enjoyed the holiday that much have booked to go back in January.
