We are a mum (60s) and daughter (40s) returned to this hotel after a super week last year. This year however we noticed a massive change in standards. There is some building works happening - or rather not happening, so there are enormous holes in the walls where there once was 2 lifts. The remaining 2 lifts feel really juddery and at times make awful noises, we did get anxious a couple of occasions.
The food has taken a nose-dive too. We were really surprised to see almost identical menus as last year's stay, but this time lots of bland, tasteless dishes, including a chicken curry which had absolutely no curry flavour at all. Weird and poor quality, but plenty of it!
If you enjoy tuneless, untalented repetetive singing, you'll love the evening entertainment. However, it nearly drove us mad. Because there is no air conditioning in the rooms, we had to keep the windows and doors open but the noise was awful, echoing round the whole structure. All the entertainment now happens outside, the previous waiter-service bar and the 'sports bar' are both closed and the only bar is the outdoor one...plastic cups!
This hotel I think is best suited to couples/families who smoke, that travel on a tight budget, and enjoy lots of noise and repetition. For those of you who prefer things slightly more select, up market and tranquil - do not choose this hotel!

We had a great time at this hotel. The food was well cooked and plenty of variation and the rooms had a large living space and the bedroom was also spacious. There was no problem with the all inclusive package I give it 9/10

Stayed at the Sol Princessa Dacil in Los Christianos last month and had a fantastic time, I was worried whether i would ike the food or not but i can honestly say it was great, loads to choose from and a lovely big restaurant. The pools were great but could get busy so you ahd to save your sun loungers early!
The rooms were beautiful, very big and very clean, we were on the 8th floor which overlooked the pools and the sea it was gorgeous. Friendly helpfull staff.
Bust stop close to hotel to get trips to the capital and see more of the island, beach about 250 yards and even nicer beach about 450 yards away, great shopping and about a 20 min walk to Playa las Americas which has lots of top designer shops.
I would definatly recommend this hotel and location for single/family or couples to visit

Just returned from 1 weeks stay in this hotel and boy are we glad to be back!!Hotel is very impressive from the outside and the reception and foyer are of a good standard.Different story in the bedrooms and the dining room.Bedroom was very small with "dodgy" light fittings, only 1 plug socket and that was in the bathroom, dirty furniture on the balcony which was never swept and no table to go with the chairs. Our room was over the kitchens not a good aroma and we also had a good view of the laundry vans. The "dining room" was in need of a thorough clean of all surfaces e.g tables, chairs, window sills etc and resembled a motorway service station complete with trays plates which were used at the self service "buffet" The food was absolutely dreadful so much we ate out for the evening meal and only had toast for breakfast.
A word of warning to wheelchair users and people having walking difficulties the toilets in the foyer are only accessible via 2 flights of stairs

We had a really good holiday at the Sol Princesa Dacil in October 08. The hotel was endlessly cleaned and the staff very efficient. We had requested a high room with pool view if possible, but were told that it was only a request and not definate. We found the food edible and quite varied at the evening meal, and the breakfast the usual for a package deal hotel, but always something to eat. The rooms are of a decent size, and the staff cleaned the bedrooms daily with beds made daily and changed regularly and the towels changed daily if you left the dirty ones in the full sized bath.Oh those showers !! I wish ours were so good!! I dont know about entertainment in the hotel, we are night howlers and like to go out and about. We found the walk to the beach easy,(we are early 50's)and the hotel was placed well for shops or exploring. All ages were at the hotel when we were there, and many we spoke to returned year after year. There was a crazy golf area, rock climbing wall, daily outdoor entertainment team with zany games where all are encouraged to join in,football, basketball, darts, cookery demonstrations, and how to make SANGRIA!!.pool aerobics, or of course you can just relax by the pool or in the lounge or use the internet facilities or have a drink in the bar!! what more could you want!! For the money this hotel is smashing.

Myself and my 14 daughter booked a late holiday last year and decided to return to this hotel which we visited 9 years ago! After reading reviews I was quite worried that the hotel had changed and when we got there I discovered that it had, but for the better!
We arrived quite late at night but the staff kept the restaurant open until after we had put our bags in our family-of-five size room which was on the 10th floor with a brilliant pool and sea view. The evening entertainment was on outside on the stage and although quite cheesy it was very amusing.
From previous experiences in hotels we realsied that to get sunbeds we would have to get up early, so I sent my daughter down to put our towels out on the sunbeds, she looked out of the window and saw that the area was completely empty but said that when she got down stair everyone was crowded at the doors in the reception and when they were opened everyone ran out like animals in order to obtain the sunbeds!
During the first day (Monday)the hotel staff were dancing around the pool to cowboy music advertising that evenings entertainment which was western themed with a range of different activities for all and themed food in one section of the restaurant.
My daughter met many people her age in the hotel and is still in touch with them today! There was activites in the flintstones themed kids club for the younger children, which now has the theme tune inbedded in mine and my daughters brains for life! But there was also activities such as football, basketball, water polo, aqua aerobics, shooting, mini golf and much more that took place every hour on a weekly rota.
The evening entertainment was quite embarrassing when my daughter and her friends were almost dragged onto the stage by the entertainers but it was a laugh. We both enjoy walking so one evening we wlaked to Playa de las Americas which is quite a way but obviously only a few minutes in a taxi which the hotel reception would easily have organised as they did for us when we didnt want to be crammed on a free coach to aqualand which was an amazing day out :)Instead of paying for tickets at aqualand we went to a small centre which sells discount tickets which allows you to skip queues, the office is down a side street in Los Cristianos town centre which you will find easily. (It's worth the search for the amazing discount to not only aqualand but several other places)
On my daughter's 15th birthday we ate out for a meal at a delicious chinese buffet and when we returned to our hotel room we found a birthday card and a tray with a bottle of champagne on ice even though she was only 15!
My only one warning would be the male waiters and bar staff can be very friendly which is quite disturbing when they begin asking names and growling whilst you are eating and shouting everytime you walk past. I suppose it doesnt help when your daughter is almost 6 foot, size 8, with blue eyes and long dark hair but it was unacceptable and unprofessional towards the both of us.
I know this is a very loong review but I have been looking around for next year but all reviews written seem to be awful for most hotels. I just thought in case you are put off by some of the awful reviews then I would write this to ensure you visit Sol Princesa Dacil becuase it is clean, modern, has internet access, a games room, lovely food, comfortable, close to the beach, friendly atmosphere, perfect for children/teenagers of every age aswell as being relaxing for parents and couples. The multicultural society in the hotel is great as well, the staff entertainers all speak english, german, spanish, french and dutch which is a great bonus.

Sol Princess is a good clean and basic hotel, which has everything needed for a holiday in the sun. Definately get what you pay for and clean. Food not the best ever but OK.
On that subject we saw a review on here that mentioned a bar called Amigos, which we found on the sea front near a row of spanish bars. BELIEVE WHAT THEY SAY. their Fish and Chips are incredibly good, like what fish and chips where when I was a kid in the 50s and 60s. They had good live music and all the staff so friendly. We recommend everyone to try this place at least once, they helped us find the best things to do, even recommending other restaurants for a change. Althougth we paid for breakfast we ended up at Amigos for theirs on the way to the beach.
Other night life hardly exists in Los Cristianos now so mant bars closed down and after 12 not a lot to do except have a late night drink or a coffee in a spanish bar.
really good beaches though and very clean.

just got back from gods waiting room, difficult to know were to start!
no table and filthy chairs on balcony no power points except in bathroom loose light fittings only news channels that were in english you had to pay a deposit if you wanted the remote,no fridge, beds slid from wall when you sat up.
Food was appalling. Left over ham was used as bacon next day, scrambled eggs were powdered, sausages were hot dogs grossly over cooked,no sea food in the paella, most stews ect were tastless slop grilled fish grossly over done, dining room reminded us of a canteen,no table cloths and you had to clear tour own plates.
Entertainment was poor swimming pool was scruffy broken and saggy sunbeds.
Thomas cook rep bad attitude surly and un helpful.
In our minds this hotel was no better than a poor 2 star hotel

I had read some mixed reviews about this hotel so we where slightly apprehensive about what could be waiting for us, However i have only good things to say!!
Our room was large and cleaned everyday, we stayed on a bed and beakfast basis and found the food to be very good with a huge selection from cooked food to cereal to fruit and as much tea/coffe/juice as you wanted.
All the staff we spoke with were very friendly and helpful, the pool area was fine and if you wanted it a little bit quieter the gardens where the place to sunbathe.
Probably the best thing about the Hotel is the location, it is very close to the beach, harbour and all the pubs/restaurants etc... if you walk up the hill for a couple of minutes instead of down towards the beach you will come accross several more bars and restaurants.
I would definately stay here again and recommend it to anybody.

Just back from a trip to Tenerife and stayed at the Priness Dacil for the first time for Bed and Breakfast. As we just wanted a room for the night and a breakfast it was perfect, but not sure I could take a full board with family type holiday. The rooms are good and clean but some things lioke a fridge had to be paid for as extra. Glad it wasn't hot at night as no aircon on the lower floors and a fan is also extra.
Well situated for Los Cristianos, about 2 mins walk to town or beach. Hotel entertainment not brilliant but we didn't stay for that as we tended to go out every night. Most of the night time entertainment is around a small area near to the childrens play area. One very noisy Karioke bar that spoilt the attempt to have a quiet meal in a nearby restaurant outside. A couple of English showbars O'flaherty's and chicargos with really noisy acts on and PRs outside trying anything to get us in (not our style)One really good place to eat was a little place just along from Chicargos called Amigos. Just like all the others they had a sign outside saying their's was the best Fish and Chips in town, I must say they are probably right as we thoughrely enjoyed them and the staff so friendly. They have live music provided by what we thought was the best rock gutarist we have ever seen live. God knows why he isn't playing in a top band. Hes called Simon May and someone said he was Brian May's son, the guitarist from Queen. Not sure I believe it but he is really good. We returned a few nights and found all their food to be top quality and resonably priced.
Another good night we found was the Irish Times, up some stairs above a restaurant called Fados. They had two musicians called Phil and Adrian I think, who were so funny and very talented. We had the feeling that if we didn't join in and have fun they would have singled us out and forced us to enjoy the night. After midnight another band came on who played more modern rock type stuff, also very talented. A thouroughly good night out.
The beaches in Los Cristanos as the streets and pavements, are very clean and have life

I am disappointed to see the reviews made about this hotel. You get what you pay for. It was reasonably priced, well actually quite cheap for a weeks half board. Yes its a bit old fashioned, but its clean and very well located. I found the food great, but others in my party found it repetitive, but I can only say this is because they are unadventurous in their diet. I would say if you only like english food dont book half board. Every day there was a different fish dish and even fresh griddled squid. Perfectly located for beach, bars and shops. I do agree with some comments made by others, the hotel could tidy up outside a bit. You would expect the front of the hotel to be enticing, but its a bit dingy and they've stuck the bins to one side, noisey when filling and emptying.
Cant really comment on the bar and entertainment as i go on holiday to go out not stay in the hotel. Rooms cleaned every day and fresh towels. I would stay here again, it is ideal if you just want a central base. I would recommend booking the room with a lounge, you get loads of room.
