This was a very nice hotel. The food was very good with lots of choice and the restaurant stayed open until 22:00; which is great if you have a day out.
The staff are very friendly, and our room was spotless and cleaned every day. Lovely pool area and we always got a sun bed.
It took me 4 minutes to walk to the beach down a steep road and another 5 minutes to the harbour.
The promenade stretches for 3 miles and has lots of bars and restaurants. I would certainly stay at the Sol Princessa Dacil Hotel again and for a 3* hotel we had no complaints.
The live entertainment around the harbour ends at midnight but a few bars will still serve you drinks.
Just a tip... don't be afraid to ignore the smarmy time share touts that are a bloody nuisance with their scratch cards (yes you will win a prize).
The best advice is not to speak to them and if you're with a partner split up when you are approached this confuses them and they don't know what to do.
Otherwise expect to spend 4 hours being sold time share.

First impressions, the hotel looks luxurious and is situated only a five minute walk away from the beach.
My friend and I, both in our mid thirties, were dismayed to find out that we were the youngest guests in the hotel by about 30 years and everyone assumed 'you youngsters must be out partying all night?'
A huge downside was the canteen style menu, chips with everything, food that was non-identifiable, but giving the majority of guests a quiz to play at each meal... chicken or fish, beef or pork? Who's to know?
If you went to a sitting too early or late the food was cold and chewy and the staff were not that keen on providing fresh plates.
All in all, nice hotel, shame about the food and most of the staff were pleasant enough.
We visited this hotel last year...

We visited this hotel last year and we had a fabulous time.
We had nice clean rooms, the only thing I will say is that the sofa beds were not very comfortable for my husband who is six foot one, his feet fell through the bottom.
The food was good and varied the children did find it a struggle but they didn’t starve.
The pool area was very clean but you did have to make sure you were up to get a bed. Don’t be fooled by the oap's - they move fast to get a bed of a morning.
The entertainments staff were great even though I do not agree with having to pay for that.
Over all we had a good time and would return if they had air con fitted in all rooms.

In a word - Dirty.
This is by far the dirtiest and worst hotel I have ever stayed in anywhere in the world, it is disgusting!
The room was tidy enough but the bathroom was very dirty. The hotel was very much in need of a re-vamp, the decor was old, faded and musty. The facilities were very limited.
The breakfast was quite a good buffet selection, but it took me so long to clean the crockery and cutlery that I lost my appetite.
Bowls, cups, everything had old food encrusted on it, stains, even dead flies, and it was disgusting!
The dinner was a limited variety of slop and it's anyone’s guess as to what it actually is because they had descriptions like "rice" when it was quite obviously not just rice. The desserts were slabs of the same thing in different colours every single night, and not even fully defrosted.
They switch off the tea machines (in case you dare make yourself a free cup after your dinner I suppose) but I only wanted hot water to heat my baby's food. After asking countless unhelpful staff members, we ended up having to buy a kettle for our room!
The food was so bad that after the first dinner, our 2.5 year old begged us not to bring him back there for food!
When I pay for a hotel, no, I do not expect to have to clear away my own dishes in the "restaurant", nor do I expect to have to clean my own table or my own dishes or put my own pillowcases on! Yes, they left the pillowcases on the bed.
The bar staff were very nice, the rest of the staff were useless and rude at best.
As for the evening entertainment... if your idea of entertainment is the same singer singing the same songs every single night, or a "cabaret" which is just people miming to some songs from Grease, this is the place for you, otherwise, my advice is avoid it at all costs!
We were really worried after...

We were really worried after looking at some of the reviews before we went, but seriously don't listen to them.
When we arrived, we were greeted by the enormous hotel which was slightly worrying at first, but after we had been in the hotel for a while we realised it was a stupid thing to worry about.
Our rooms were cleaned everyday and there was plenty of space. OK there were only 3 English channels on the TV but who goes on holiday to watch TV? The choice of food was brilliant at both dinner and breakfast.
You could eat as much as you wanted so we were always going up for seconds and even thirds, and seriously my family are quite fussy about food in restaurants and my mum and dad are both brilliant cooks, so we aren't that easy to please.
The staff were always friendly and cheerful and although the entertainment was cheesy, it was still entertaining. We stayed at new year and the hotel made a great effort. Free bottles of red and white wine were left on the tables and there was free champagne.
The entertainment team gave out party stuff in bags like hats and horns and loads of other stuff. They organised a big group of carnival people with drums to come in with drums. There was live music and it was all done very well.
There were also excellent fireworks at midnight which were set off from the top of the hotel. The hotel wasn't particularly lively though and is mostly geared towards families and older people, who are extremely well catered for.
The only thing I would suggest though is that you put your towels down by the pool very early. The doors open at 8 and I was normally down to put out towels at 9; by then most of the beds had gone.
Overall we were very pleased with the hotel and would definitely visit again.

After having read all the negative reviews about the hotel before we went for our holiday over Xmas, we were naturally a bit apprehensive about our visit.
It does the hotel a real injustice for visitors to give such bad reviews. If you go away knowing that you are going to a typical 3 star Sol hotel, then what you get is exactly what you would expect from this type of holiday.
The food is plentiful and there is such a variety that it would be impossible to go away hungry. For all the moaners that complained that they had to clear their own dirty dishes away, so what, and what is the problem with that?
It didn't bother us one bit, it is just a matter of courtesy and at the end of the day, there are plenty of staff about who constantly clear away and clean the tables if you don't want to do it yourself.
The hotel is clean, the staff friendly and the location is perfect for the lovely beaches, nightlife and shops. Go away and please enjoy this hotel for what it is.
Best night out by far is the Irish Times. Live music every night from 21:30. Derek and Jerry can play anything you ask and in particular, the Irish music is fantastic with traditional Irish instruments played.
If you manage to go, please mention to Derek that he still didn't play us "Ride On" for the ones from Oldham.

I have been to Tenerife on several occasions and always fancied staying in the Dacil, thinking that it would be special, alas it was not.
The entrance to the hotel was very grand in marble but, the upholstery on the couches at the entrance are in need of renewing, as is the decor in the bar.
Really overall, the public places are needing money spent on them, the room was clean and fresh towels everyday.
Alas satellite television means three English speaking channels, 2 of which are news and the same news over and over again. I didn't really mind but my mum who I had taken, would liked to have watched a little TV at night.
We got there hoping for a great meal at night, boy were we in for a shock! The food was not great and very poor salad bar, the breakfast was fine but you can't really go wrong with that can you, but it wasn't all bad.
They did try and entertain you during the day at the pool, and they also had dances at night for the older people.
I would go back but only on a bed breakfast deal as we had to eat out a couple of times at night.
One really great thing this hotel has going for it, is the location which is perfect for going down into the town at night, which is about a 5 minute walk away.
They also have a self service laundry, which would be good for a 2week stay, as you could wash your towels through and any thing else you fancy.
Overall I was a bit disappointed but it didn't ruin what was a great break at that time of year.

I stayed here as a base for exploring the other islands through the local harbour, as I have been to the Americas district many times before.
I arrived at the hotel, not sure what to expect, bearing in mind some of the reviews. I found the staff very friendly and helpful. Other guests in the hotel tended to sit and stare at everyone, but I got used to this.
I would not particularly recommend the Half Board option, as it was the typical 3 star experience, self service for absolutely everything. The food tended to be very samey, but if you book a 3 star this is what you get.
For what I paid, I was quite happy although there is so much choice in bars and restaurants, I felt I was missing out. The breakfast was very average.
There was a lot of different nationalities in this hotel, mainly Spanish, English and Italian's. I preferred this much more than its sister Hotel of Sol Tenerife in Central Americas, and that was a 4 star hotel!

This was the first package tour/hotel holiday we've been on in 9 years so I was a bit apprehensive. However if our experience was anything to go by things have improved a lot from what I remembered.
We found the hotel well run and very clean. The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The entertainment during the day was good fun, and evening attractions were well put together (the strongman show was particularly good given that they had to do it indoor because of the weather).
We had frequent cloud and rain (one particularly stormy afternoon), but still enough sun to get a decent spell on the sun beds most days. The rain wasn't brilliant but it didn't spoil the holiday. Towels reserved the best sun beds but we didn't bother because there was enough sun beds to go round.
Each mealtime had a large enough selection to cater for us and we can be picky in what we eat. Each day I was pleasantly surprised at the quality on offer.
Down sides: - there were about 60 French kids on some sort of school trip. They were all polite and well behaved, but the sheer number descending on the restaurant or lobby meant they virtually took over the place for a time. The pool's a bit small but at least it's not salty. The lift to floors 1 to 7 packed up a couple of times. The barmen can't mix cocktails to save their lives.
Overall I would not hesitate to recommend the hotel.

Read lots of negative reviews before holiday and a little apprehensive before arriving. However, everything clean and a good selection of food each day. A bit of a bun fight getting a table that was clean at times and felt the restaurant could have been better managed. The usual people putting towels on sunbeds at dawn, but who wants to get up so early on holiday, especially with the beach just a ten minute stroll away amongst the palm trees and shops and plentiful sunbeds at a reasonable cost. Resort lovely, plenty to do, walk further down past the harbour and discover yet another beach! Locals friendly and food good too. Hotel staff accommodating, had a packed lunch instead of dinner when we were dining out on the last night.

I have read some of the reviews on this hotel and agree with them all, both the good and the bad, we started holidaying in Tenerife some 24 years ago, this was the only hotel in Los Cristianos, it was very, very good, expensive but it was the business.
We went back with some friends in 2005 and what a shock it was like Butlins with sun the sun bed dash has to be seen to be believed it’s under starters orders at 8am and boy can those fat lasses run!
Food if that’s what you can call it was like something you throw away and believe me I am not a fussy eater and neither are our friends, we ended up going out for 5 of our 7 nights which added to the cost.
It seemed the higher up the hotel you were the better the room, we were on the 3rd floor, the room was a box over the stinking car park our friends were on the 7th floor with a sea view it was massive air con comfy sofa etc the funny thing is they booked a month after us so who knows how room allocation works!
So booking your holiday here is defiantly a gamble, we would not go here if it were free and we got spending money to boot.
There are a lot of hotels here now which are the same price if not cheaper shop about don’t waste your hard earned! You have been warned.
This is the most basic hotel we...

This is the most basic hotel we have ever visited. The lifts didn't work, the food was awful, the kids club was a joke.
I wouldn't go again, if you paid me. We were promised a top room with a fridge and air conditioning, which we didn't get. It turned out everyone else had been promised the same thing too!
The rep was un-contactable for the whole 2 weeks. The kids club was expensive and not at all properly run. One young person would be in charge of sometimes 20 children outside. The bar staff were rude and often tried to short change you. Just awful! Don’t do it.
Everyone we spoke to were thoroughly disgusted and no one we spoke to would even remotely consider going back again.
Before I start I must say this...

Before I start I must say this hotel was extremely wonderful. On arrival staff were there to help us settle in and the hotel itself was lovely. Our room was set on the 10th floor but was very spacious with a lovely view. For breakfast there was always something delicious to choose from but I especially looked forward to dinner as there was a wide selection of foods to choose from and they were all tasty. I really enjoyed the entertainment staffs company especially Sandro and Phillip, they always made me laugh. They always had a great show every night for both children and adults. The only thing that let me down was the lifts as they broke down quite alot which meant that I had to walk up 10 flights of stairs which was a bit of a let down. I would definitely recommend this hotel for all ages. I would definitely go back to this hotel I miss it.
If you ever want a good time go to dreamers bar as there is good entertainment, I enjoyed it there and also enjoyed max and Boabs Company.

Got back a couple of days ago and would love to go straight back. Read lots of reviews about the hotel before I went was very scared, however when I got there it turned out to be really nice. The hotel's not much of a picture from the outside but inside it's really nice. Food's great different things being served every day.
Pool area etc very nice, lifts are quite dodgy they stopped and started a couple of times while I was in them but thankfully they didn’t break down!!
Overall great holiday suppose it’s just like England with the weather!

On arrival around 2 pm we were made to wait over an hour to get into our room as it was not ready yet. We thought it took this long due to the maids licking the place clean but to our horror we were presented with a dead cockroach lying in the middle of our floor.
The only night we had dinner in the hotel was the first due to the fact we're fans of undercooked food. There was a wide variety of food however it is all Spanish food except from the chips. Breakfast was better but by the end of it we were sick of the sight of sausages. You must be prepared to wait in a lengthy queue to get your eggs cooked.
You have to be up at the crack of dawn to get a sun bed as other holidaymakers were waiting on the doors opening to the pool. The worst part is that these people don't actually use their sun beds until after lunchtime. There is a rule stating that no sun beds are to be saved but no action is taken.
The highlight of the hotel is the entertainment team. They have a wide choice of activities for all ages ranging from water sports to bingo to quizzes. Very friendly staff who keep children occupied the whole day and night. The bar staff at the pool bar are also really friendly.
However the reception staff are not helpful in the slightest. On booking our holiday we were told that the rooms were air conditioned but on arrival it was only superior rooms that were. You have to pay 20 Euros extra a night to get one of these rooms and even if you are willing to pay this, there is very little chance you will get one.
After enquiring about a room we were told one would be available the next morning and we could have it, so the next day we packed our belongings and went to the reception, only to be told that they were all fully booked but to ask again later. After being told to come back later several times we eventually gave up hope of getting one. The situation was made even worse by there being signs advertising these rooms after being told there was none available. The signs could have at least been removed. The staff’s attitude at the reception was a joke as they have to respect at all.
We had an ongoing problem with cockroaches which led us to believe they may be coming from somewhere in the room. This made us want to change hotels, never mind rooms. Once again this was an issue as there was not one single room available. We found this hard to believe as there was over 350 rooms and doesn't seem the most popular hotel in the world. The only help we got in resolving this situation was having to wait half an hour for a security guard to come up and spray our room with insect repellent and leaving us with dead cockroaches everywhere.
There is a maid service everyday in which clean towels and sheets were left. The maids were always friendly also.
In conclusion, we would strongly recommend you do not book this hotel as you will be very disappointed with it. This hotel should not be classed as a 3 star.
