" Max Bar Apartments "

Just returned from a week's skiing in Sauze D'oulx. The weather was perfect and the conditions were perfect.
Tha Max Bar Apartments are what I would call 'Just OK' The beds were comfy and clean. The apartment wasn't small and was sufficiently big enough for the three of us. It was very central and was close to the apres ski and lift. If attending ski school the bus for the lift was one minute walk away. The apartment needed completely updating. This was obvious when I switched on the extractor fan and blew the fuse for the whole apartment!! The bathroom was a bit scruffy with cracked shower door, broken towel rails and faulty plug in basin. Not all plugs took the two pin adaptor. The kitchen cutlery. crockery and equipment was all odd and needed a good scrub. The lighting in the apartment was very poor. The whole apartemnt could have done with a good clean, dusting and polish. I think the apartment had never been so clean when I left it. The staff were very friendly. The apartment was opposite Paddy's which I found to be a noisy place to visit. There is a far nicer bar about 100 yds up the hill called GHOST where the music food and service was excellent. The street below the apartment can get noisy at times.

Advice: Great place to go skiing but not fantastic for beginners although the ski school was excellent.
Activities: GHost bar where they served excellent food.
Good for: Ski

" Really basic accommodation but was... "

Really basic accommodation but was cheap and cheerful and was located right opposite the supermarket and Paddy's bar in the heart of the resort. The ski lifts were only 5 minute's walk away.
On arrival in Sauze it didn't really look like much of a place, but it came alive at night and the apres ski was excellent! As beginners to boarding, we decided to pay for lessons which weren't expensive and were well worth it - 2 hours a day for the first 3 days and we learned the basics, with hindsight though I would have booked afternoon lessons as we had to be at the top of the ski lifts for 10am which was a killer when you didn't crawl into bed until 8am!

" Spacious! Says who? Our apartment had... "

Spacious! Says who? Our apartment had one double bed in one room and bunk beds in the other. Might be classed as spacious, if family with two small children staying.
Was close to lifts and nightlife, being 4 blokes this was good, well you could not sit round the apt as there was not a lot of room as we all had boards/skis with us.
I would rate Max Bar Apartments overall 5. Hey, I have stayed in worse but a little more comfort would have gone a long way.
