Hotel Description:

Enjoying a good location right in the centre of the resort, this hotel is handy for the slopes and all the après ski action found in the area. This hotel offers a relaxing and friendly atmosphere and the hotel bar is a great place to wind down or get in the mood for a great night out.

" Excellent value for money "

We had a great week here. The hotel has recently been refurbished throughout. Our room was very clean with TV and mini fridge. Shower was hot and powerful. The staff were friendly and the food in the restuarant, although not gourmet, was very good for the price with a good choice both at breakfast and dinner. The restaurant was only ever quarter full and sometimes we had it to ourselves. We found the location ideal, away from all the noisy bars, but still not too far from the slopes or gondola. Having stayed in the Samokov next door we much preferred this hotel to the impersonal Samokov. The night club in the basement was only open for 2 nights during our stay (Fri & Sat) and although we were on the ground floor we couldn't hear any noise from it. The Happy Duck on the corner was also a great bar with live music each night. Overall excellent value for money.

" better than i thought "

i read the reviews on the moura and borovets before i left and i was worried about what iv done!!
my wife and myself arrived in borovets late on a saturday night tired and hungry having missed dinner but once we were there the staff at the hotel (except the fat misserable receptionist) couldnt be more helpfull the girl in the restaraunt was happy everyday and food was a good standard, not the best but it was good and free so that was great.
people mentioned about the "playboy" club downstairs full of topless dancers......didnt see a thing.
the rooms were cleaned everyday and very comfy the only thing which was annoying were the noisy northern families around our room shouting to each other at 2 in the morning!!!!!
borovets itself is great try the happy duck, every night costas is the live band and he is great, really nice bloke, opposite is a great pizza place which also does take away.
there are a few strip clubs in boro but not in your face (no pun)and people go on about the prostitutes in boro but there were none,so ignore what you hear, all in all boro is great for couples, famlies and groups just wish the snow was better!

" We stayed here in March 2008 and had... "

We stayed here in March 2008 and had a brilliant holiday. We booked with European Ski Weekends for a 4 night short break. The resort is only 60 minutes from Sofia, so great for a short weekend skiing. The hotel is close to the ski lifts and slopes. It would be good for young couples and groups. Borovets is great for beginners. We would definitely return to the Moura - good value for money.

" Think very carefully before booking... "

Think very carefully before booking this hotel. I believe it is more suitable for a lads/18-30 type group who are only bothered about beer and somewhere to sleep it off than for families, mixed groups or older skiers.

Firstly, the size and standard of what you get for a "twin room" varies wildly - while some were a good size with a small seating area, others were box rooms with low 2'6" beds only inches apart and absolutely nowhere to store things, like soggy clothes and boots- not exactly comfy for two adults, but you don't get any discount!

Secondly, the food and standard of service was appalling - we ate out almost every night because we couldn't face the hotel restaurant.

Fine because everything in Borovets is cheap, but irksome when you've pre-paid for evening meals.

Thirdly, the hotel has a Playboy bar in the basement, and as a result of this several interesting looking locals and half naked girls (some of the hotel's waitresses worked down stairs after hours - it may explain why they were so grumpy and unhelpful all the time) spill over into the bar in the hotel proper.

It obviously didn't bother everyone, but we found it quite uncomfortable and intrusive, and with so many people coming and going at all hours it raised questions about the hotel security.

The hotel has no facilities apart from the basis: rooms, bar and restaurant. Unless you count the stall selling Cd's and DVDs in the lobby. Location wise, the 'centre of the resort' sounds great but in practice meant you had a 10 minutes+ walk to get anywhere.

We met several people who were staying at different hotels in the resort and had much better experiences - the Samokov was particularly recommended and certainly looked a whole lot nicer with a few shops, a swimming pool, and direct access onto the nursery slopes.

Personally, I would steer clear of Borovets altogether, but if you're committed then think about finding a different hotel.
