We have just returned from a weeks holiday the best ski conditions there in the last 9 yrs apparently. The hotel is in a fabulous position with skiing right up to the door and a fast chair lift up the mountain. The hotel was very clean and the resturant manager was... more

This was my first ever skiing holiday & I really enjoyed it. 4 couples went with 2 children each & we all had a lovely time. The majority of us were first time skiers & the tuition from the Ski schools was excellent. We stayed in the Apartments Del Clos attached to the main... more

This was my first time skiing and I recommend it to anybody out there to go. Not only did the skiing top it off but so did the hotel, Hotel Nordic. We actually stayed in the apartments of the hotel in block B; however apparently, block A is a lot more spacious. Our family... more

We also stayed in the Apartments Del Clos which were absolutely amazing although I would say that you should go for the 'Block A' just really because they more spacious but I wouldn't suggest going for the slope view because although the view is lovely in daylight, the snow... more

We actually stayed in the Apartments Del Sol which are attached to the Hotel Nordic. The Hotel is fantastic and couldn't be in a better position to the slopes. They only dissapointing thing for us was that the tour operator had told us the Pool/Gym etc was included -... more

The Nordic is a fairly new hotel with a fabulous position at the bottom of 3 runs, two blue and one black so you can ski in/out. The 4 man chair lift is within 50 m, so less than a minute after you have your skis on you can be up the mountain! The ski hire shop is also just... more

Lovely hotel. Excellent position - can ski straight to chair lift and gondola only a short walk away. Rooms well furnished and clean. Make sure that you ask for a quiet room as we were right above the evening entertainment and it was noisy if you wanted an early night. The... more

Excellent hotel in a great location!
We stayed for one week at the nordic and it was a brilliant hotel. The room was excellent with all the modern amenities. It was quite large in size with a balcony overlooking the slopes. The rest of the hotel was just as good. There was a nice atrium which overlooked the bar and downstairs seating area. Hotel had its own pool, jacuzzi, steam room, gym and also its own bowling alley! Food was good too with lots of variety for breakfast and dinner. The only problem is that if you are a vegetarian you have to do with a soup starter, pasta and chips and veg for mains and mouth watering desserts for the evening meal. Other than that, I had a brilliant stay and skiing was great too. Fortunately we had lots of snow during the week and hence had good skiing conditions. The only other minor problem is that there are not many bars and restaurants arounf the area and hence need to go to soldeau for action (however buses are very irregular). Neverthless, the hotel has a lot of amenities of its own to keep you occupied for the week. Highly recommended!
Superb Nordic Hotel
The Hotel Nordic is in a fabulous location, seconds away from a high speed chairlift, or 2 minutes from the gondola. The hotel is very clean and comfortable, rooms are spacious and with LOADS of wardrobe space. Food is excellent and with plenty of variety. The grilled salmon steaks are to die for. The swimming pool could open a bit earlier than midday though. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Location of ski lockers allow you to basically ski in and out of the door. Totally enjoyed everything about the place. On our last night ( we were getting picked up from hotel at 2am ) they opened the restaurant up at 1:15am so we could get a breakfast. Well done Nordic - other hotels should take note of services like this. Brilliant overall, can't wait to book for next year.
Lovely hotel but poor ski hire shop
Excellent location in El Tartar - ski in/out. Staff within the hotel were very pleasant and helpful. Great rooms overlooking the slopes. Good variety of food. Plenty of facilities to amuse all age groups. Great duty free shopping in nearby Andorra La Vella, which has the very unusual Caldea Spa, which is definitely worth a visit. However, the Nordic Ski Hire Shop - part of the hotel complex - was a major let down. The staff were unfriendly, unhelpful and poorly organised. The newly arrived English speaking hotel residents were left standing outside in the freezing cold for more than 2 hours - having completed a gruelling day of travelling from UK and Ireland. Many of these tourists were families with young children, as this was during mid-term break. We were made to feel that our custom was unwanted. Neither the holiday Reps nor the hotel staff were interested in dealing with the problem. The same situation was reported by those English speaking holiday makers/skiers who waited until the following morning to get kitted out with their ski gear. Some of us had stayed at this hotel 2 years previously and had a wonderful time - this was a major disappointment. Will most likely not return. Loved Andorra - great place for begginers/intermediates and non-skiers!
brilliant
really good. cheap, ski in ski out, friendly staff english not that great but what do you expect your in a foreign country.do we brush up on our catalan for when they visit uk? infact was a good laugh teaching them some english at the bar(got a few free drinks too!) food was pretty good again not british food but whats the point in traveling round the world to eat cheesy beans on toast(live a little). loads of irish people who really know how to create a good atmosphere. will definatley be returning to this hotel again. cheers for a good week.
Fabulous Nordic!!!
Amazing hotel, fantastic location, excellant food, lively, cheap, what more can i say??!! Will definately be returning next year!!!!!!
Standards have improved!
This is a follow on from my report last year.Everything i said then applies now,the only difference was the reception staff are a bit more approachable (there was an English lass on a good deal of the time),and we only experienced one incident of cold food- this was at breakfast. There were however, a number of people who went down with dodgy stomachs but this did not apply to our family. That said we always looked forward to meal times!!If i had to complain , the internet connection was down for most of the week. In this day and age that is unacceptable, some people have business to attend to ,and it should have been remedied sooner. Also , as with most hotels ,the exchange rate was poor and seems to work on some sort of sliding scale ,depending on how much you want to change - not for me!!!All in all though a good hotel, which we have booked to go to again next year - that speaks for itself.
Everything we expected
We travelled to Andorra for our first skiing holiday end of Jan 06. HOTEL: friendly, helpful staff. Spa, pool, games room (+ bowling alley!). Buffet dinner exceptional (congrats to Executive Chef & staff). Good variety of grill, seafood, game, Spanish delights. Cheap & generous serves of drinks at hotel. Service excellent. GETTING AROUND: free regular bus to surrounding areas (blue bus with legendary AUTOMAN disco driver). Aprox 6euro return trip to capital Andorra de villa every hour. Tends to be "touristy", shops similar. Good discounted alcohol & cigs, seems to be all. There is a small supermarket and some good pubs in the village centre of El Tarter. Of course the action is in Soldeu 2mins away by bus. SKIING: no snow for 2wks, but snow cannons held their ground. Finally snowed last days to provide perfect conditions. Excellent ski instructors (greatfully very patient) give good tips, will bring out your potential. Get in VERY early for your chosen class. Morning skiing tends to be busy. Apre-ski: many off ski cafe's. Try husky ride for some adventure. Bumboarding silly, but fun - avoid the icy patches for pain free sitting afterward. Have fun and stay safe.
Excellent location & lovely hotel
My husband & I went on our first skiing holiday and stayed at this hotel (23rd Jan 05 - 30 Jan 05). Hotel is lovely, we had a lovely room with slope view - room nice & warm, leisure facilities great, nice to be able to relax in the jacuzzi & swimming pool after a days skiing. Hotel even has bowling, alleys. Hotel has a superb location right at the bottom of the slopes, you can even ski to the hotel. Food sometimes not the hottest, however plenty of choice. Some staff do not understand English, however we made the effort to learn some Spanish words & I think they appreciate this. We are planning to return to this hotel next year again. Would not stay anywhere else.
Fantastic Hotel
This hotel is fantastic all round. Clean, pretty, and excellent food. Bar in the hotel is one of the cheapest in Soldeu/Ele Tartar. Postioned right at the bottom of the ski lift - location couldnt be better.
Amazing hotel, staff let it down
Just returned from a weeks ski-ing (26/12/04 - 3/01/05). Had a fabulous time, slopes, weather and ski schools are great, could be a magnificant hotel but the staff let it down. Some spoke French, some Spanish and very few English they also found it difficult to communicate between themselves. Think they were very short of staff - they had one person behind the bar to serve. I booked and paid to have a massage on the Tuesday, after waiting 1 hour was told it was not possible. I then booked to have one on the Thursday at 19:15 again I waited 35 minutes and was then told it was not possible until after 20:15. I didn't bother. When I complained to the manager that I was not happy he just shrugged his shoulders - a common thing we found. If you are Spanish and staying in this hotel the staff would go out of there way to serve you - you could even get a massage when the English couldn't. The food is buffet style and is fantastic, New Years Eve consisted of Lobster, Oysters and Langostines as a starter and you could have as much as you wanted. A real shame the staff let this hotel down.
