Awful place - recently redecorated and renamed the crest pas but don't let that fool you.
Hotels in pas are basic but this had the worst beds i've ever slept on in my life.
My twelve year old sat (not jumped) on one bed and three slats poped out at the bottom!
Hotel staff indifferent
200 euro deposit required which is a joke as the whole contents of the room weren't worth that much.
who ever redecorated didn't bother taking the pictures of the wall which meant the frames were covered with paint - just sums the place up really!

  • Advice: Good cheap skiing but basic hotels and facilities, and not a lot to do if you are not skiing
  • Activities: Olypias & pas 83 bar
  • Good For: Ski

What a great holiday!
Hotel was great and the snow was class!

I'd been to this hotel several years...

I'd been to this hotel several years previously with my Dad, and it wasn't too bad - cheap and cheerful type of joint, which is why we chose it this time round.
I was sorely disappointed though, as the place was disgusting.
As mentioned in one of the other reviews, our luggage was just dumped outside and left until we arrived on foot (most resorts don't allow buses through, so we expected to walk though).
On check-in we had to pay cash deposit of some ridiculous amount of Euros, which we weren't informed of beforehand.
Our room was falling apart - the door handle was held on with chewing gum, the shower curtain was mouldy, the bathroom ceiling was thick with mould, the room was dark and dusty, the kitchen area and utensils hadn't been cleaned since the previous occupants, and - worst of all - when we made the bed there was a used Elastoplast stuck to the blanket.
My girlfriend and two others in our party got really ill with 'flu, which we're pretty, sure, was down to the state of the place.
The guy on reception didn't care, and neither did the owner when I finally got to speak to him, nothing got fixed and they said they couldn't move us to a new room as they were full.
Pas de la Casa as a resort has also gone downhill; it's like the Costa Del Ski. There's nothing apart from duty-free shops and gaudy pubs - and bear in mind this is a review from a 25 year old recovering student!
This in mind, however, the ski slopes are excellent and there's some fantastic terrain to be found.
Snowboarders be aware that there are few snowboard shops about, and it took me 3 hours of searching to find a place that did Burton spares, and then they ripped me off.
The best place to go is on the far left of the main lift area, facing back down the hill, the one with DJ decks on the cash desk - they do almost everything you need but I found them too late!
Pas is ok for a budget holiday, but stay in a different hotel and don't expect much apart from riding and drinking!

With Sandi you get what you pay for.
For a skiing holiday for a group of seven friends it was perfect, comfortable beds, clean, tidy, basic but just what you need!
We didn't have any problems, the staff were all very friendly and did their best to make sure we were happy,
If you expect the Ritz you will be disappointed, its location is excellent, a short walk from the bars, clubs, shops and most importantly the ski slopes!
We had a great time and would go back again! If you really like skiing and boarding you will be out waiting for the lifts to be open and wont return until you get kicked off the slopes! It is all you need after a long day skiing, until you go down to be bar!
The staff in the shop were very helpful, my skis broke, I went to the shop and they replaced them with no questions asked,
I think its great value for money, just what you need if you are on a budget!
Had a wonderful holiday!

Very pleased with my holiday will...

Very pleased with my holiday will definitely be booking for 2007 I booked my holiday through medinland.
I had an excellent time, the rooms were clean and tidy. Considering it was a skiing holiday it was fantastic value, location was good unlike others hotels in Pas.
The bar was fantastic and the staff were extremely helpful, it is not a 5* hotel and is ideal for those going for a skiing holiday, rather than a luxury beach holiday.

I have been back to the Sandi...

May 2006, Mr AG Guilford

I have been back to the Sandi apartments 3 times and had nothing but brilliant service from bar staff, reception, and Board shop.
Lots of us go every time and we keep going back year after year. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else but the Sandi as it’s cheap and cheerful. You get for what you pay for and nothing else.
Nothing didn’t work, everything was clean and tidy. Only think I mark down was I wasn’t made aware I had to pay a deposit by my tour guide. 120 euros.
Yes you do have to walk up the hill and yes your bags do get left outside, but you should wait outside for your bags to arrive not disappear. Every hotel is the same in Pas because of the steep and tight bends! No coach will dare!
9 out of ten! Keep it up Sandi!

Firstly let me just say that it is...

Firstly let me just say that it is unbelievable that the previous review is referring to Sandi IV. I can honestly say that I have never seen such a low standard of accommodation in my life.
On arrival in the resort we were told to get off the bus and walk up through the resort, which was fine for us, but you had to keep up or get left behind. On arrival at the hotel luggage had been dumped outside in the street and left unattended.
We were immediately disappointed when we entered our room, it was very dark as some of the lights were not working and everything was extremely dirty. The kitchen, floor and bathroom looked like they had not been cleaned in a very long time, there were used tissues on the floor from previous guests, and the walls and ceiling were covered with mould. After such a great first impression we began to inspect the cleanliness further, bed linen and towels were old and didn’t look very clean and when we went to use the kettle the water poured from the bottom. They clearly don’t have the same standards of health and safety as we do back home.
We went down stairs to ask reception for our lights to be fixed as it was getting dark and we were added to a long list of complaints. Later still we reminded them as it was very dark and asked if anything could be done. This is when we noticed that there were several other people lining up to complain about the state of their rooms. Every time we walked past reception there was a different person behind the desk, there seemed to be no continuity and they were not very friendly.
Upon returning from the welcome meeting we were pleased to see that our lights had been fixed, but shocked to find that out room had been robbed. There were no signs of forced entry and we know that we locked the door when we left. Several items had been stolen and the thief had the time to open every zip of every bag in the room. This person clearly knew we were at the welcome meeting as they had the time to do this. I am very angry that this happened as it was obviously the stupidity of the maintenance man either that or a burglar with a key!! There were no security cameras in the hotel at all, not even in reception.
Luckily the Air tours reps did move us to a different hotel, and we had a fantastic holiday but it could have been so different if we were made to stay at the Sandi IV. The management at the Sandi IV accepted no responsibility for what had happened instead trying to shift the blame to us claiming we had made the whole thing up for an insurance scam.
Needless to say I will not be staying at the Sandi IV again, and would not recommend it to anyone who is looking for a clean, comfortable and safe place to stay on their holidays.

Jan 2006, Mr K Olos

Great place. Refurbished in 2005, so don’t worry about negative reviews that rubbish the place internally. We had a Duplex (2 level) that slept 8. Exceptionally clean, newish inside, with fantastic hot water for all, heating, and very immaculate. Staff were extremely helpful, English speaking, and put up with alot from some guests. They were especially helpful if you have a family.
The rooms are spacious for a ski resort, and the duplex sleeps 2 on the top level, with a bathroom up there, and 6 on the lower level with another bathroom there. Super layout too, and you don't get in each other's way. We were very surprised by the space.
You walk about 200m from the hotel and you are on the side of the slopes, so you can ski down to the lifts pretty easily. You are however one of the highest hotels on the winding road out of Pas, so you need to trek a little further for pubs, clubs etc. At night, it can sometimes get a little noisier with buzzers being pressed for guests 'staggering' back to their rooms, but this would be the case for all hotels.
Overall, this place is really well priced with tour operators, and you can find bargains for it that make it worthwhile. So if you see (like I did) some reviews slagging it off as 'falling apart', or 'dirty' etc., ignore them. The place is spotless (in Dec 2005 anyway), refurbished, and also has a ski shop on the ground floor that you can hire stuff from/buy gear. Ski lockers on this floor also allow you to store your stuff.
A very good place overall- much better than some of the cramped hotels closer to town centre. Would go back again.
