We were robbed the second day. Our room is locked with an electronic access card. The stolen money was put away in the my girlfriend’s handbag which was hidden in a closet. We asked around to see if other guests were also robbed and almost everyone we talked to also lost... more

Absoloutely shocking stay, the service was terrible even by mediocre French standards, not only this but a lump sum of £500 was charged upon departure for damage to a room of 5 that was spotless, completely as found when arrived. Have never been so badly treated.

I have skied for 16 years now and this resort is one of the best I’ve visited on the continent, lovely runs for all levels, not so challenging for advanced skiers even if they do boast much the longest black run in Europe The food was good within the resort (pizza roll is... more

This was my first time skiing, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect, I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the hotel rooms were, my son loved sleeping in the bunk beds. I cooked a couple of the evenings, as the restaurants were fairly expensive (this was easy, even... more

First of all Alpe D'Huez is a great resort and skiing area. This sort of made up for the poor condition of Les Bergers. The hotel is about a 25 min walk (45 min if you have to drag the kids) from the resort centre. There are free buses around the resort, but we never... more

Alpe De Huez is one of the furthest south in France and is approximately 6000ft about sea level. After just coming back from a week there with my family I thought I ought to recommend it to people as it was so good. In my opinion there is many advantages to spending a... more

Christmas at Les Bergers
Well, booked these apartments (C 2-4 person) for a Christmas Holiday with family. We were given the ground floor room 006. When we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who spoke very good English and very helpful. Quick and easy check in. Apartment was ready early Bonus!, as we were told may not be ready by the rep. It was very clean, and tidy. Yes you do have to put your own sheets on the bed. (if you don't pre book to have them put on for you.). If you are short of a towel or two or sheets then the reception or... more
Utilitarian apartments in good location
Referred to as both Quartier les Bergers and Les Bergers, this block of apartments is a mixed bag. On the downside the apartments are small and the block is pretty knocked around. The bar and the restaurant are souless, the boot room is damp - your boots will be soaking by the end of the week. There are some good points though! The staff were friendly, the outside pool is small and not that warm but we went in every day and it was fun. The sauna is fine - some of the descriptions say the hotel has a gym - it doesn't - just a room... more
Avoid this place!
Have just read the preceding review and completely agree with everything said. We (a couple of ages 27 and 30) stayed here 15-22 March 2008 and were very unimpressed. Having booked on the promise of a 4-star hotel we dread to imagine what a 1 or 2 star could possibly be like. The apartment was tiny - essentially a small livingroom/diner area with an uncomfortable falling apart sofa, small round table, sink and 2 hobs. The 'oven' consists of a micro-wave type oven device with no manual explaining how to use it. The dishwasher was... more

Thank you very much for your helpful posting on Tripadvisor regarding your recent stay at the PV-Holidays residence Les Bergers. We are extremely sorry that your stay with us was not up to our usual high standards. This is a very rare occurrence, in one of our most popular locations. We take great care to specify the size of each apartment from our two-person studios to larger residences and how each guest will be accommodated. We do provide full details of bed allocation and room size in metres squared for all of our apartments both on the website and in our brochures. In order to avoid disappointment, we generally recommend that you only occupy apartments to the maximum number possible if you are on a very limited budget. This particular residence is scheduled for a full refurbishment and we will continue to ensure our customers’ comfort while this work takes place. Additionally, we always now have a member of staff ‘on call’ who can deal with any problems outside of reception hours swiftly and efficiently. We hope that you will choose to visit one of our residences again soon.

Exactly what it doesn't say on the tin.
We were a group of 8 fellas going away for a week of skiing and drinking. We booked what we believed were two four star self catering apartment with associated trimmings. On arrival the lobby was grubby and like almost everything else in the resort, seemingly built in the 70's. Staff were friendly and spoke good english. We were directed to our rooms along dank and smelly corridors with stains on the walls. Our rooms were warm and dry but you could't swing a cat in them. The beds were unmade, the duvets and pillows were dirty and... more

grubby and dated
We booked this hotel expecting much more for the price. On arrival we found the reception area dated and scruffy looking. Our apartment which was for 4 people was small and only had 1 bedroom with bunk beds, the other bed being a pull out bed settee. We thought this would be too much hassle every day so up-graded to an apartment for 6, (at a cost of around £400 which we thought was a bit pricey) this had the bunk beds and bed settee, but also another bedroom with a king size bed. We asked our rep, (crystal) to try to find us... more

No Complaints!
Stayed at residence les Bergers in March 2007 with a group of 10 guys/girls. Located close to the Bergers shopping area, very handy..but a bit of a stroll to some of the late night bars - didn't bother us too much though. Chairlift to the next valley is just across the street, and you can ski almost to the door at the end of the day (as long as there is good snow). Rooms are a little small when filled to the maximum but that's the case in all ski resort accommodation so no surprises there. Overall, accommodation was very... more
Great value ski accomodation
We had a studio apartment which would sleep 4 but would be a little cramped fully occupied, but it was perfect for 2 people. The studio was pleasantly decorated, warm and comfortable with views out to the surrounding countryside and the valleys below the resort. The kitchen and bathroom facilties were good, really appreciated having a dishwasher and the bath was huge with plenty of hot water. The beds were comfortable and you get duvets with fresh duvet covers and sheets and comfy pillows. We were in block C which meant a small... more
In the summertime.
Stayed for a week in the summer of 2007. Had a room on the scenic side of the building - got the morning sun too. All in all a decent hotel for what we wanted. Comfortable for us to chill out together in the evening, but close enough for the things we wanted to do in and around the resort. Pool and sauna was OK. Staff were great in helping me get sorted after my wife broke her leg.
Hotel not great, but location good
Although it's not a ski in-ski out hotel, the location is good and it's close to many lifts. The hotel itself is pretty dated. Our room was a bit smelly and not altogether clean, and the beds were pretty uncomfortable. But it was our first time skiing and perhaps we had unrealistic expectations of the hotel. All in all, the location probably makes up for the dated and not-great hotel. There are several hotels in this region (Les Bergers) and if we went back we'd try an alternative. As for Alpe d'Huez, we thought the resort... more
Xmas 2007 in Alpe Huez
Stayed at Quartiers Les Bergers- Pierre et Vacances situated on the east side of the resort- 2 adults and 2 children. Sadly my youngest son broke his collar bone on the firest day which put a dampener on things! The rooms were well equipped although apart from the settee bed the bunks and camp bed were uncomfortable!. There is a nearby well stocked supermarket and we ate/cooked in on a few occasions and enjoyed ourselves. Eating out we went to Smithys 3 times which was excellent and great value for money- British run. We tried the nearest... more
