Sundown Court Hotel

Hotel had groups of very noisy French & Italian young people, here to have fun no matter the neighbours, singing, drinking, shouting by the swimming pool at any hour (4 AM).
I feel that, because of the total lack of air conditioned, the management had to make do with cheap tour operators, that bring in cheap customers.
So, for me, a "Don't", at least during European public holidays.

I always check out the hotel first on the internet. I have been to Malta a few times before so I do know the areas and I have a Maltese friend who checks places for me as well. Sundown Court was lovely. We were lucky to be staying in F block (there are about 6 other blocks across a road) okay for sleeping but a pain for using the pool, restaurant. The apartment was gorgeous. I could have happily moved in!. Bathroom with shower, lots of towels, bedroom with plenty of covers, and maid gave us more. Bed was a little uncomfortable so I slept on the sofa bed which was a fold down type and it was great. The kitchen was lovely with a table. Patio doors to a small courtyard (we were on the ground floor). The restaurant food wasn't all that great but was okay. The two swimming pools were lovely. Kappara is a little out of Sliema which is a 20 minute walk downhill (remember uphill on way back!) across a very busy road. We walked it during the day but didn't like to at night so eat at the restaurant most evenings. There was no entertainment but we weren't looking for any. Also the shops were quite a long walk, especially if you were lugging back bottles of water and cat food...... oh yes the cats! Both my friend and I are cat lovers so did find the amount of stray cats upsetting. We did make a few friends, Malti the little black cat (male) Mama (the female tabby) who could be a bit funny and we fed them all with tit bits. Malta itself is a lovely island and I have been many times. It is not the sort of holiday to go and sit round a hotel pool or on the beach (if you want that go to Spain or Canaries), Malta is a place where you want to get on an old yellow bus and go and explore all it has to offer. Providing you have a nice bed and clean room to sleep and you haven't overpaid for your holiday, then you should not complain.
