Marlita Beach Apartments, Protaras, Cyprus
Hotel Information
Hotel Description:
The emphasis as soon as you arrive here is fun. There is something here for everyone, the children clubs will entertain the youngsters whilst you can join the activities around the pool or chill out on the beach. If you can tear yourself away, get ready for the evening entertainment including a Cypriot night and karaoke, perhaps that's why couples without children love the place too!Nearby Hotels Viewed by Other Travellers
Marlita Beach Apartments Reviews
" I, two sisters, and parents stayed in... "
Submitted By: Miss S McNallyThe apartments are only a half hours drive away from the airport which was great. My family and I had a fantastic time in Cyprus, we didn't want to leave. Each night entertainment was provided in the resort such as deal or no deal and bingo.
There was a children’s club which my younger sister of 3 loved. She even made 2 wee friends. All the people staying there and staff were very friendly. Including the reps. This is by far the best holiday I've ever been on and would defiantly go back.
The only down side of the holiday was that the counters were crawling with ants which was unpleasant, but other than that the resort was perfect.

Submitted By: Mr T BeckwithOur first room was filthy, urine on the seat, excrement on the bin. Grime all over the floor, bits of food on floor and surfaces from previous people. The room had clearly been broken into as there were broken locks and dents in the doors.
The patio door would open enough to get your hand in even when locked, there was old paint on the sofa, all the furniture was in need of updating, the next room offered to us wasn’t any better.
6 hours later we settled for moving to the hotel next door called Anastasia, which was a proper 4 star unlike the Marlita, but we had no self catering facilities.
Having said all this we still used the Marlita pool as it is very good and the entertainment team there are first class, and keep you and the kids entertained all day and night which is the reason we enjoyed our holiday so much.
We would definitely go back there but would book a room at the Anastasia and use the facilities at Marlita.

For kids it is fantastic food is great to. The entertainers put in so much to make your stay excellent.
The pool is cleaned morning and night. I would just like to finish by saying don’t be put off by other reviews some people are hard to please.

Submitted By: Mr B.A RadfordThe rooms are not nicely furnished or very modern, but having said that, they are spacious, however the sight of fleas jumping about on the floor of the bedroom was not too impressive!
The pool area and the location, in my opinion are worthy of the 4 star rating, although towards the end of our stay there were a large number of children with ear infections.
We opted to upgrade to half board on arrival. This was not the best decision that we made as the food was not 4 stars either. We complained about this and (eventually) were given suitable compensation from the manager, who was it must be said, most helpful. (Which is more than can be said for the receptionist!)? But beware; apparently refunds are not an option! Upgrade only if you are not fussy!
Overall, we did enjoy our stay, mainly due to the accommodations fantastic location. It is right on the beach and close to the resorts of both Pernera and Protaras and only a 20-30 minute bus ride to Ayia Napa.
We went as a young couple, but I feel that the Marlita is best suited to families.
I would recommend the place, although if you are paying 4 star prices, you may be a little disappointed.

" What a holiday we just had. My... "
Submitted By: Miss M HardingOn first appearances it was clean and had a calm and happy atmosphere, we thought we had landed in paradise. The rooms are spacious; we had a one bed apartment and never saw a single cockroach in there. We were self catering but it was really cheep to upgrade to half board, it could be quite pricey in the hotel but there are loads of other bars within minutes walking distance to choose from.
The pool is wonderful and so many sun loungers that no-one need get up at the crack of dawn to claim one. Because of the people who are attracted there ( families and couples) it feels so safe that within days we new we could leave bags and other things at the pool side and no it would not be touched even if we left it there for hours.
The children make friends so quickly and even if you don't use one of the children’s clubs you no that the staff and other guests will be watching out for them so they can go play out of sight without the parents constantly on worry alert. The entertainment is fun and based around families during the day and more lively at night, the entertainers really try hard to please and encourage the guests to choose their favourite activities if the ones on the program don't suit. Money can be won everyday at only a pound a go (the more people enter, the bigger the pot goes).
Protaras town is literally 10/15 mins walk down the beach but make sure you have plastered the sun screen on first and don't attempt to walk back the same way after dark as the tide cuts you off, go down the town front or take a taxi at just 3 pounds.
Food? Huge variety, never order chips unless stated because they come with everything as part of the meal.
We met some really nice people and made friends to the extent of swapping numbers The down side, we had to come home but will definitely be going back.

Submitted By: S J WrightI found the standard of cleaning poor and we had ants in our room. I was constantly putting powder down but they kept coming back and sometimes found them in the beds. The area around the pool was not very clean and likewise the pool. Apart from the negative comments the surrounding area and location was very good.

Submitted By: Miss DI IbbetsonIt is everything you could wish for. The staff were extremely helpful they were always willing to help in any way possible. The food was amazing, food that even the fussiest of eaters would like there was a combination of everything.
There was a different theme every night one night we had a bbq outside and it was amazing. The pool was very clean but there again so was the whole place couldn’t fault it if I tried.
The only downside was that we had cockroaches in our room but the cleaners soon sorted that out with some spray. Towels and bedding was changed regularly. I will definitely be visiting again in the future. Great holiday!!

Submitted By: Mr S J FellowsThe apartments are in dire need of refurbishment to fetch them up to standard although on a lighter note they are very roomy. The location was wonderful and the staff are very polite and friendly and work extremely hard, most being from Lithuania.
The surrounding areas are packed with bars and restaurants both Cypriot and English so something to suit everyone’s taste. To upgrade from self catering to half board only cost 240cyp in hotel so would advise booking self catering and taking the upgrade deal on arrival at the Marlita (the price above for 2 adults 2 children) overall we had a really nice holiday and the weather was fantastic, (factor 50 a must in the height of the season) but felt a little let down by the brochure.

Facilities at the Marlita were spot on... entertainment was during the day, centred mostly around the Pool. Our room was perfect ( 1 bed apt ) with air conditioning, which you had to pay a small charge for. They were cleaned on a regular basis. The view we had was lovely...... you could see the pool and the sea. The food at the Marlita was lovely...... we used to get "snacks" which were reasonably priced, and good sized portions. Overall I would rate this property 10/10. If you’ve booked to go there, you WONT be disappointed. Enjoy!! <br>

We were so upset by the condition of the apartment we did not unpack the first day calling on the representative to arrange for more satisfactory accommodation. None was available until several days later and of an inferior standard to the apartment we were in.
Accommodation:
The apartment’s sofa looked as if it had never been cleaned and had lots of black stains, it was very shabby. No air conditioning in the kitchen / living area when requested at time of booking.
There were ants in kitchen presses, Mould around bathroom tiles. Light fittings and furniture damaged. Net and blackout curtains missing. Overall very poor lighting. Decoration very poorly done paint splattered all over place, floor, skirting architrave amateur repair to apartment door.
The apartment looked very tired. We had no clean towels for the last three days of our holiday as there was a shortage of towels for the resort.
Reception / Complex:
No air conditioning in lobby or bar area. Swimming pool used by everyone like a free public pool. Locals and others not from the apartments brought ice boxes with lunch and refreshments to the pool area and not challenged by hotel staff. Condition of pool surround filthy. Bins full of rubbish every day and only emptied once a day.
Very hard to get sun bed as beds are been occupied by public. No life guard on duty at pool. Frequently pool use at night when supposed to be closed between 7pm and 8:30 am. No staff willing or available to enforce pool rules. So many people using the pool facilities the pool couldn’t cope with the demand so we had to use the sea.
The area for the Teenagers was disgraceful the armrest was completely ripped down to the wood with bits broken off all the stuffing was pulled out.
In our opinion the Marlita Beach does not deserve Four Stars. This rating is seriously misleading. I would put Marlita Beach down as a two star plus. We did not enjoy this holiday and feel we haven’t had a holiday this year.
This is our first time in Cyprus and it would make us think before we returned to Cyprus again.
