Hotel Description:

The emphasis as soon as you arrive here is fun. There is something here for everyone, the children clubs will entertain the youngsters whilst you can join the activities around the pool or chill out on the beach. If you can tear yourself away, get ready for the evening entertainment including a Cypriot night and karaoke, perhaps that's why couples without children love the place too!

" We arrived very late at the resort... "

We arrived very late at the resort after total chaos at the airport due to a very poor level of oranisation(2 hours with a 6 & 4 year old in the airport on arrival)
The hotel is a little worn around the edges & would benefit a complete face lift to at the
Very least be graded at 3 star.
Jodie and the entertainment team were excellent and my daughter Katie kept them on
Their toes(they will remember her for antics around the pool on the holiday express & Showing how much fun can be had)
The entertainment staff wanted to recruit my 4 year old for the last week to keep up the fun.The Marlita is a wonderful hotel for a holiday, but for all the snobs out there Stay away.
Whilst the hotel is a little dated, dont be put off by the past reviews.
The staff made us feel very welcome and after some overdue refreshing this hotel & Resort would satisfy most visitors.
The pool and area at marlita is very clean and during our stay there were no reports of Illness or Sickness.i would recomend you to go to the marlita later in the year rather than peak times to truly appreciate it.

" After reading some of the reviews for... "

After reading some of the reviews for Marlita Beach I am shocked. Me and my family have holidayed at the Marlita for several years returning again and again. It is a fantastic place very clean pool, cleaned daily and on all our holidays there with our 2 children who are never out of the pool have never had an ear infection.

The maid service is great rooms cleaned daily. Hotel staff really pleasant and the reps very helpful. I have been to a lot of holidays all over the world and by far the Marlita is our favourite. My children won’t go anywhere else. Reading some of the reviews shocked me about the rooms not been clean, maid service not been good and the pool not been cleaned. My family and I love the Marlita Beach it is a great relaxing holiday can’t wait to go back. It is a true saying that some people are too hard to please.

" Myself, my partner and 2 year old... "

Myself, my partner and 2 year old daughter have just returned from a week in the Marlita and had a brilliant time. We arrived to a spacious clean apartment, friendly staff, and a full English breakfast.

The maids were very polite if they came and you were still in your room they would come back, we had clean towels everyday. We stayed half board and the food was quite good. They cooked chicken nuggets and chips or pizza every night for the kids if nothing appealed to them. The food round the pool was really good for lunch times with a variety to choose from and big portions and not that expensive.
The pool area was clean spacious and plenty of sunbeds were available. There were no complaints of ear infections our little girl was in the pool most of the holiday and was fine. There are lots of activities during the day for the kids, including a mini disco at night. Overall the staff were friendly, the hotel was clean the food was good and we all had a great time!

" As stated before this hotel needs to... "

As stated before this hotel needs to be re-rated as it is most certainly not a four star. Rooms really need updating and are a bit scruffy but this did not stop us enjoying our holiday.

Entertainment staff were good and were up for the challenge, Janine, Jodie and Caroline were excellent and the kids loved them.

Restaurant was very good and staff were helpful and friendly. Food we enjoyed and menus were good, no complaints there.

Pools were good although couple of bits could have been touched up if 4 stars are to be credited. Beach was so- so, bit rocky but good for snorkeling and some water sports.

Reps were bit useless too be honest. I asked her on a number of occasions about trips and if she didn’t sell it (i.e. getting commission for it!!) then no info was available for it and she seemed not the slightest bit interested in getting info on it! 1 out of 10 for her.

Overall the kids loved it here and so did we but 4 stars no! Anastacia next door, the sister hotel is 4 star, wonder why Germans are there? They would not put up with shabby hotels why should us English?

" Two of us mother and daughter... "

Two of us mother and daughter (21years and 45years) have recently returned from a weeks holiday at Marlita Beach apartments and would strongly agree with the below review. I have been to Protaras 5 times now and every year it seems to get better and better.

Marlita Beach is approx. 10 mins walk along the beach path from the centre of Protaras which is great because you’re not too far from the nightlife but it is a very quiet place when in need of sleep! On an evening, suggest popping to the taxi rank which is a 3min walk from Marlita. Taxis are readily available, drivers very pleasant and always charge the same amount to Protaras £4 and Ayia Napa £9.

Just near to the taxi rank is a fabulous restaurant called MOJITO. We ate there several times, the menu is lengthy and there is so much choice from Mexican dishes to jacket pots! Food is top quality. MOJITOs staff are very friendly, mainly english and make you feel very welcome. MOJITO does get very busy so I suggest booking a table during the day for a meal in the evening.

Also just up from the Marlita is a lovely restaurant called Blue Spice. Again, friendly staff and an amazing sea view with open plan seating area. Food nice, usually an entertainer (Cypriot singer or traditional Greek dancers) on an evening but nothing too 'in your face'.

If you like Mexican, do not go to speedy Gonzalez nearby, it will put you off Mexican food for life!! The outside looks inviting and fun but don’t be fooled! There is a Chinese restaurant nearby also, we didn’t try this as it look very quiet and not very many customers.

In Protaras there are lots of souvenir shops, banks and chemists. Robin Hood bar is family friendly and has music on until 1am. George the manager is friendly and approachable but speaks little English. The bars are busy on an evening but if you’re looking for extra busy bars and clubs suggest a night in Ayia Napa. Go to the square, if only to people watch, it’s a great atmosphere.

The Marlita itself was pleasant, very clean and inviting. We had a cleaner every day that mopped the floors, made the beds and brought new towels. Throughout the whole week we did not see one ant/cockroach etc in our room. The water did go off one day but was quickly sorted out by the hunky maintenance man!!

We had a 1bedroom apartment and were very surprised at the size of it! The bedroom was huge and also the living room which had a generous balcony area. The furniture a little dated but don’t let this put you off, it’s clean that all that matters!

Overall, we had a fab time at Marlita, it seems a great place to take kids although we did not have any with us! Pool was fantastic and it’s right next to the sea. Weather was gorgeous all week, would definitely go back next September.

" We booked a last minute deal through... "

We booked a last minute deal through Airtours - we were led to believe it was a 4 Star hotel we were booking. We arrived very late so went straight to our room. It was vile; it smelled as if the windows and doors hadn’t been opened for a 100 years. The bathroom was dirty and the shower didn’t work. We sat on the beds and almost cried! It was too late to change room so we went to the reps as early as possible to ask to change rooms. The rep said that the hotel was fully booked and she would get maintenance to sort out the problem!

There was no way we were staying there - I was scared to get in to bed! We spoke with the head rep who informed us they had loads of rooms free! The next one we checked was just as bad, maybe even worse and the fuse box on the wall was buzzing so loud I am surprised it didn’t blow up! We went to reception this time to complain and the lady was very helpful. She moved us to a better room in block D. We thought the room was great after seeing the previous 2, although if that had been our first room I don’t think we would have been happy.

Our cleaner was very good. The pool was dirty and was never cleaned while we were there. It was so hot we had to go in the pool but never got our faces wet - hardly relaxing! Protaras was grim, dirty, and way behind the times. A couple of ok restaurants; the best we found was a new Japanese Sushi place which we would highly recommend in Eden Square. Just to finish, the reps were all about 18 and had no idea what they were doing or how to handle any kind of situation!

All in all, we did all we could to enjoy our holiday but I would never go back to Portaras and certainly would not recommend the hotel or Airtours.

" Me and my boyfriend and our friends... "

Me and my boyfriend and our friends have just returned from a 2 week holiday at the Marlita. We thought the whole holiday was brilliant.

We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment which was really nice, it was quite a big, with a very good sea view, it was very clean and our cleaner gave us fresh towels everyday.

The pool area was very spacious with sun beds around the pool and on the surrounding grass. The music and entertainers around the pool were very good and kept everyone entertained, although some of the activates and songs got very annoying as they did the same thing everyday.

As for the resort of Protaras, I have been there many times before and think is brilliant, it has something for everyone. Protaras beach was just a ten minute walk from the hotel, and the main centre is a 15min walk, however we found it easier getting a taxi which only cost us £4 and we did rent out buggies to travel around in which we benefited from.

We were self catering so ate out in different restaurants every night, there are many restaurants just up the road near the supermarket or just a 5min walk away, also Protaras centre has very good places to eat.

Overall we all had an amazing holiday in Cyprus at the Marlita beach, the apartments were excellent and the surroundings were very relaxing, I recommended it to all couples and families looking for a good, entertaining holiday.

" It was a great holiday!

It was a great holiday!

As a child, the entertainment was brilliant, there was always something to do.

The food was nice and the breakfast was at a suitible time! I would recomend to children of all ages.

The water park in Ayia Napa was really fun too!

We enjoyed our walks into the town at night time. A women came to the hotel and braided your hair and everthing.

It was the best holiday ever.

" We arrived late evening to be greeted... "

We arrived late evening to be greeted by a disgruntled receptionist who refused to show us to our room.

The room - what a shock! Could have just sat down and cried. Accommodation graded 4 star, at very best it should be 2 star. Very worn, very basic. Cleaning service not up to much. Beds were not made or changed every day. Floors not swept. Bathroom - towels changed daily but bathroom wasn't cleaned for the whole of the two week period.

Pool - 3 of our party had ear infection.

Family entertainment. Day time activities were ok. Night time however weren't so good. Children's entertainment didn't start until 10.00 pm.

Reps - useless. Couldn't answer a simple question like what time is my taxi coming to pick me up. Asked if she could find out from somewhere. Scowling face - oh I'll have to phone them. Isn't it their job to know such things!

Total lack of communication between hotel and reps

Only saving grace was that the pool and sea were only 50m and 100m away from our apartment.

" We have just arrived home from a 2... "

We have just arrived home from a 2 week holiday. Before we went we were assured how wonderful this was.

When we arrived at 4.30am at the airport where we had to wait and surround reps to find out where our coach was, totally disorganised madness. Coach journey was approx 40mins. arrived to get hotel room that was B block. Unlike others that have stayed it was really disappointing.

Breakdown of holiday -

Rooms needed a good make over and clean. Cleaner needs lessons on sweeping!

Food -
Same Breakfast every morning. (Karen is no longer there who made everyone welcome)

Evening food gets very boring after 3 days.

Staff -
All pleasant, Airtours entertainers are your entertainment throughout the stay apart from Karaoke and three singers. Although the entertainment team worked hard it would have been nice to see something different i.e. magic show, band maybe,

Pool area and beach -
Daughter had ear infection from pool and had to visit the hospital. Beach does not belong to the hotel but is public, around pool areas you do get others from surrounding hotels.

When going to this hotel and Cyprus it is very expensive to buy water, kids drinks and every day needs.

In the hotel the bar is well over priced and in general they charge for everything even the remote control for the TV, This is because they have removed the buttons from the front of tele so you cannot turn it over.

We will not be going back there, but would consider a different area.

" We’ve just come back from our week... "

We’ve just come back from our week stay in the Marlita Beach apartments. As many of you have just said I would only give this a 2 star rating. The apartments are very dated and filthy. Everyone you spoke to was complaining of ants and I don't mean a few, I mean an infestation of them. The rooms weren't clean properly. Also you may as well have been sleeping on the floor, the beds were that hard. The reception weren't too helpful if you ask for more pillows, you just didn't get them.

Around the facilities it was filthy. I didn't once see it getting hosed down like you normally do. Many of people were getting ear infections from the pool (say no more). The pool wasn't cleaned regularly or even daily. Put it one way, there would be no chance I would go back there even if it was free.

" I have recently got back from my stay... "

I have recently got back from my stay here and I have some problems but also some good points. The staff here are fantastic except the night receptionist who is useless and lazy. The pool staff are friendly and helpful; the pool snacks were massive portions at a very good price with a lot of range. The pool area was tidy and clean however 3 members of our group all got ear infections.

The rooms were basic and needed a fresh lick of paint but were clean enough. They were cleaned daily, by shall we say, a forceful maid service. The night life was fantastic, a friendly bar and all around the hotel was a safe and thriving nightlife. The local shops are ok, however the shopkeepers are rude, being that he tried to search us.

The local restaurants are fantastic and I highly recommend Blue Spice in the evening. We favoured the Anastcia next door for dinner, however the food at the Marlita was nice however basic.

I would definately want to stay again at the Marlita Beach due to the friendly atmosphere and amazing location. You can see the beach from your room, its about 2 minute walk. I would recommend this hotel to families as there are a lot of children’s activities.

" My boyfriend and I booked an... "

My boyfriend and I booked an allocation on arrival to Cyprus for 2 weeks and ended up here. It cost £180 each and we feel we were very lucky.

The apartments were spacious, clean and perfect for us. It had air conditioning and was cleaned every morning with new towels given etc.

It is right on the beach and has a big pool and grass area. It is also located a minute from the supermarket.

Also if you have a family this place is great for kid’s entertainment - the staff worked hard all day and night with kid’s activities. I think at that point they were voted best on the island.

Couple of tips - if you walk 5 minutes left along the beach there is a much better one - it’s fairly small but great for snorkeling or if you walk right for 10 minutes there is another long beach which is great.

Overall we would rate the accommodation 7/10 - I think its more of a 3 star really, not 4 and I’m not sure how much it would normally be - but we had a great time and no complaints.

" Well I disagree completely with the... "

Well I disagree completely with the people who rate it as a 2 star it is definitely a 4 star+. It was a fantastic holiday. The entertainment was brilliant, there was always something to do day or night. Everybody was so polite, they treated you like family. There was a wide range of food there. If you didn't like what was on show then there was a little menu mainly for children but they also made a bigger plate for the older ones.

I was pleased with the room we were given as the maids made sure we had clean bed sheets and towels everyday, and I didn't see one insect crawling around the room.

The location was fabulous as it is a 20 minute walk to the main town centre, and around the corner was a little water park which was ideal for my younger cousins. Ayia Napa is only a 30 minute drive and have the biggest night clubs ever there and also the biggest water park in Cyprus.

Overall I was really pleased with my 2 week stay at Marlita Beach and I would definitely recommend it to families as the was 10 of us who went. I enjoyed it that much me and 28 others are going to be joining there again in 11 days.

" We've just returned from a week at... "

We've just returned from a week at the Marlita Beach apartments and what a disappointment they were. I'm amazed that this place has been graded as 4 stars.

It's a 2 star accommodation at best! A total refurbishment is required and the place was dirty to say the least. In terms of cleanliness my rating would have to be "zero".

Don't get me wrong, for the price we paid I wasn't expecting the Ritz but the least you can expect is that the place is clean, if somewhat worn, and not to have to play dodge the long black hairs on the floor that appeared to breed over the time we were there.

We were hoping for a quiet week of relaxation and weren't exactly thrilled to find the placed highly geared towards children’s entertainment complete with very noisy "entertainment" reps on the microphones all day long. Great it you have kids that need to be kept busy 24/7 but not so great for those adults looking to chill.

It was as though we'd been transported back in time to some kind of holiday camp - my idea of hell.

Once the entertainment/music has ceased sometime around midnight there's always the chance to get some much needed sleep until the bin wagon arrives around 3am to empty the bins and wake up the entire complex.

I'm thankful that these were collected on a daily basis as the stench from them wasn't conducive to a pleasant holiday experience - however, I think that a more appropriate collection time should be considered.

The location of these apartments is ok if you don't mind the 15 minute walk to the beach in the day or 20/25 minute walk into Protaras centre at night when the beach path is apparently flooded by the incoming tide - not so sure that this is correct though.

We spent as much time as possible away from the complex and I would suggest that anyone looking for the same kind of holiday we were expecting would need to do the same thing.

Steer clear of Marlita Beach, it's grotty, noisy and not worth the cash!

If, however, you choose to take your chances here make sure that you pay a visit to The Mojito Bar & Grill - a few minutes’ walk from the apartment - great staff and FANTASTIC food!
