Very relaxing
Visited June 2009 Just back from the Ali baba hotel in Gumbet. Had a great time, very quite location but still close to all the action and the beach. Seb the owner is a very nice guy and is always on hand if there are any problems, (not that we had any) Harry the bar man is as other reports mention MAD, but nothing is to much trouble for him. If you don't like the music played from around the pool from11am everyday tell Harry and he will play what you want from his limited amount of CDs. Breakfast was as we expected Crusty Bread, Cheese,Salad, Olives, Jam,Tea or Coffee. The rooms are basic but clean. Take a kettle if you want to make a cup of anything in the room. Pool is great with plenty of sunbeds. I suggest you pay for the Air Con as it gets hot in the bedrooms at night. Temp in the high 30s when we were there. Loads of restaurants nearby, we found Jacks Place to be the best value for money with the best food and the staff were great. We would not hesitate to go back to the Alibaba. Mike and Sally.
Crazy Mad Barman
My Friend and i fed up with work weather ,booked two weeks away in turkey, never been before just booked and went, never been by our selfs only with family, so we wanted a nice place to stay not too big, as some times big hotels can be unfriendly, well we arrived at the Ali Baba, hot monday after noon, we were greeted by the zany barman, and the hotels manager we were laughing almost straight away completely at ease, and we felt very welcome and relaxed. The hotel was small and clean the pool was a very welcome sight, the staff were very friendly and could not do enough for us on our arrival it stayed like this for the whole two weeks, every body on first name terms, we could not have had a better stay and we hope to return next year, we also found out that lots of the guests go back year after year which can only mean, the hotel and staff are very good at making you feel welcome and relaxed, the food is basic but very good value for your hard earned money. The Ali Baba hotel is not next to the beach but is a short walk , but close enough to town , and the many bars cafes & shops. The pool and garden area was cleaned every evening, and there are enough sun loungers for all guests and visitors, no need to leave towels on over night.
Honeymoon
We are just back from our honeymoon at tha Ali baba and we had an excellent stay there. We could not have asked for a more friendly hotel all the staff are brilliant it's like 1 big happy family we were sad to be leaving them. The food is excellent a perfect snack menu. The hotel is also spotless. It is in an excellent area far away from the nightlife so you can have a good nights sleep if u are not joinin in on the fun but close enough to walk to if u want to join in. The beach is also a short walk away. We would go back to this hotel anytime we could
best ever (big paul and faye)wales, true taffs
the hotel ali baba is great ,the staff are funny and pleasant, friendly and Seb and family are A1,polite and curtious u can,t wish for a more relaxed holiday than at the ali baba ,we have ben there three times and not once have we had to complain about anything only the reps total [--] we are going back again in sept ,its that good and so friendly we have meet lots of lovely people at the hotel plus made a lot of turkish friends from cleaners to property owners there,s no distinction between them for true friendliness
Amazin
Me n a mate went for two weeks at the start of september! I have never felt so welcome away from home in my life! It is a great family run hotel and the staff are great! It is very basic hotel bt very clean! Not in a bad location not too far away bt far enough so u can sleep at night! Brilliant! Would definately recommend it! See you in June!!!!!!
Home of the famous turkish rollerskating elves!!
Firstly as a group of quiet, restrained non-beer drinking geordie lads staying at this hotel in June, can i apologise to any other guests for the behaviour of the two loutish girls from staffs, ha ha! We stayed at he ali-baba hotel in june 2007 - the hotel is fairly small but i would say just the right size - big enough to have the essential facilites but also small enough to have the personal and friendly touch! The pool area is great and is always spotlessly clean - antonio (the self-titled sex student) is always helpful and on hand around the bar (can i recommend the chip butties - perfect for curing a hangover)! The rooms were spotless and seb the owner obviously takes a lot of pride in running the hotel. It is only a 2 star but after staying 5 star in egypt last year we weren't disappointed. Only thing i would say it its a bit of a walk down to bar street, but hey, the exercise was needed! On a last note about gumbet, still a great place to go for superb nightlife but it is getting more expensive - prices have doubled since my last visit 3 years ago.
the best ever
I would tell everyone who goes to gumbet to stay at this hotel, it is the best ever. My self and a mate try to stay here every year, we have stayed in other hotels as we try and go a couple of times a year but have found nothing is as good as the ali baba. It is very clean and because it is family run you get to meet all the family and i must say they are all very nice, seb the owner will make sure you have the best time ever and if there are any problems he will sort them out straight away which is great.I cant wait to go back again in august this year for two weeks, there is nothing worse than going on holiday and staying some where that is awful, trust me i have but not at the ali baba its great.
Ideally located
Was very worried when we discovered after booking that this holiday that it is described as "young and lively". However, being early in the season all guests were of a "mature" age i.e. over 40! The rooms are basic but priced accordingly. Very clean but needs new bed linen as the current sheets are very thin! Ideally located, close to everything but far enough to be quiet. The pool area is spotless and the staff so friendly and helpful. Drinks, food etc very good and no more expensive than anywhere else. The other guests however made our holiday - fabulous company!! I would definitely consider returning to this hotel - if the price was right.
Wonderful holiday
Didn't know what to expect when we arrived as the picture of the hotel in the holiday brochure didn't do it justice, and although it was described as a two star, in our opinion we would have described it as a three star. The owners of the hotel were very friendly and made us so welcome, especially Hasan, who arrangede a meal for everyone on their last night. The hotel gardens are well spaced out, with an array of flowers and trees. I would certainly recommend this hotel. It was close enough for the beach, about a 10 minute walk and also close to several restaurants and shops. Would definitely go back.
We loved this hotel
This is the 6th time I have been to Turkey, The 3rd to Gumbet and I have found this hotel the best yet. Its position is in a quiet area so no loud noise of a night, yet is only 3mins walk to the main area and 5 mins to the beach, The rooms are clean and there is air con (£20/week) and the hotel grounds, pool and bar area are spotlessly clean, the staff are happy and very helpfull, I will go back and stay in this hotel myself and would reccomend it to anyone travelling to Gumbet.
