What a team !!
On arrival I was dissapointed with our room, we talked with Mustapha the owner, he changed it. We loved our new room. We got to know all the staff, they are all brilliant. Friendly, funny, helpful, I haven't got a bad word to say about any of them. The food is excellent ! we tried other restaurants all over, but kept coming back to the Crossroads as it is superb ! The bar area gets everyone together, it's a great place for making friends, it's like everyone is family for the duration of the holiday. Don't look forward to a big pool, it's small and no good for swimming, but for kids and people who want to hang round the hotel it's ideal. All in all value for money and 5 minutes from the beach and shops. Really enjoyed our two weeks. I would recommend the Zevkim and cross roads restaurant to everyone !
Feel welcome at the Defne/Zevkim
I've been going to the Defne and Zevkim for a number of years now - twice a year. I'm astounded at one of the comments written! Yes, the Defne is basic - I have stayed in both and yes, the Zevkim is slightly better. But, as a base it's great. If there is anything you are unhappy about - you only have to say at the time and it will be sorted out. There is a pool, it is small, but cleaned everyday with comfortable sun loungers and poolside service - what more could you want! The staff are friendly and nothing it too much for any of them. They will ask you if you wish to eat in when you pass, but at the end of the day that is their job and they rely upon holiday makers eating in to survive. They DO NOT hassle at all. Unlike the restaurants on the beach front that are fighting harded for custom. The bar area is great and a fanatastic place to make new friends, Bulent is brilliant and always on hand to make you smile no matter how bad his day has been or that he has been stood all day in a 45 degree heat. I have been to different parts of Turkey and Greece and the accommodation is no worse than any other. It's always best to speak up about anything you are unhappy about while there and give them the oppotunity to put it right rather than moan about it when you get home. I met Dawn3792 there this year and have a great friend for life. I would normally be looking forward to going back in September, but unfortunately can't this year, but I will be there next year. The quirky gaps in the doors all add to the charm of the place. If you want perfection it isn't the place to go. If you want a friendly place, where you can have a good laugh and enjoy your holiday then go! At the end of the day you only sleep and shower in your room.
Ab Fab!!!!!
One of the best hotels that I have stayed in in Turkey, couldnt find a single fault with it. I stayed in this hotel a few years ago and since then there have been a few changed (which are for the better) The rooms are basic, but most hotel rooms are in turkey. They have got everything you need mind, like a shower, fridge, cooking rings (if you cook when you are out there) but it dosent really matter what the rooms are like cos they are just a base. You can get air conditioning, which is payable locally (around £10 a week) I would definately recommend getting it if you are going between mid June and mid Sept. You can also hire a safe which you would find in reception. this is around £7 a week. If you are going on a bed and breakfast basis then dont think that you will be getting the full english every morning, the breakfast is a traditional Turkish Breakfast whch consists of Olives, Tomatoes, boiled eggs, french bread, and an assortment of jam, but dont be put off as you will find that a big majority of the BB hotels in Turkey will have the same type of breafast. The pool is small and I wouldnt really reccomend small children who cant swim go in there on their own as the shallow end is about 4 foot deep so it's not so shallow really, but dont be put off by the small pool as it is an ample size as the hotel only has around 12 rooms. The bar is great, they do anything and everything, you can get the large bottle of beer (efes) for around £1. Bargain!! There was previously a restaurant next door called thr Crossroads, but the owner of that restaurant has bought the Zevkim hotel and knocked the restaurant and the hotel into 1 which is really nice. The restaurant is open to outsiders aswell but it never gets too cramped as there are plenty of seating. Sunday roast every Sunday is amazing!! better than my grandmas (and nobodys Sunday roast is better than my Grandmas) lol. If you are travelling with kids or anyone that are fussy eaters and wont eat in the restairant then dont worry as there is a mcdonalds around the corner on the mainroad and the prices are roughly the same as back here. All in all Marmaris is one of my all time faves and I dont think that I will ever stop going there. Try it, you'll lover it!!!!
Avoid....Now part of the Defne at the crossroads...Terrible Place!!
Just returned home from the Zevkim having spend 1 week there. When we arrived Mustafa (manager) gave us the keys to the room. The room was terrible!! 5 inch gap between the door & frame so everyone could look into your room. Lights didn`t work. The door onto the balcony didnt lock & the hotel is not even a 1*. I was very surprised as all the reviews of the Zevkim were great. I then complained & found out that the Zevkim & Defne have now merged & we were in the Defne part & Mustafa said the rooms were all the same standard...Liar, Liar!! The Zevkim is a reasonable 2 * hotel but you now have a 50/50 chance of being in reasonable accomodation or a Mexican prison (Defne), not that I have ever frequented prison or Mexico. We were eventually moved once someone left the Zevkim & we were moved in. The rooms are ok, clean but very small. The bedsheet is only enough to cover a small child though and they were only changed on our last day!? They do have larger rooms that sit above the pool & bar area that are larger but you then suffer the noise from the bar. You can hear people speaking in the rooms next door. The staff harrass you to eat in there restaurant which is terrible and the beer expensive compared to the good restaurants at the harbour & beach and all similary priced. I`m an experienced traveller & please listen to me & don`t book this place.
great location-great staff-not pervy or pushy
We stayed here for the first 2 weeks of june this year and would deff recomend. the best thing about this hotel is the staff, very friendly and make you feel very welcome. they are not pushy or pervy which is unusual in turkey lol. was very hot everyday 30-40degrees and 25 at night.its a very small hotel but its also linked wiht the next door daphne. it has everything you need though. we are a young couple (aged 22 and 23) got a double room with en suite and balcony. we were on 2nd floor- no lifts but they help you with your bags. after first night our balcony door wouldnt lock and they were great about it and moved rooms.located literally a 2 min walk from the beach and lots of bars and great restaurants on the beach front. however bar street is quite a walk- about 25 mins but the local dolmus (bus) stops right near the hotel and costs about 75p ish and they run till 1am so not really a problem.the hotel bar is quite lively and open till 530am, some great cheap cocktails. theres also a restaurant for snacks and breakfast. the free breakfast before 10am is turkish breakfast only- egg, cheese, bread, olives and tea, all other food you have to pay seperatly. the hotel also does a tab which you can pay whenever (although sometimes they missed things off that we had but other times they tried to charge us for things we hadnt eaten- but no problem when we told them)You can have aircon for£42 for 2 weeks although it was very hot if we had the balcony doors oen we coped fine without it. safe was £15 for 2 week and is located in reception.theres a very small but deep pool for the hotel with free loungers arouns, it wasnt usually busy.the only bad thing about the hotel is its very noisy at night and the walls are very thin! didnt sleep all night once without getting disturbed which was a bit anoying but not the hotels fault.theres some great excurtions aswell- dont book through your travel agent as they are double prices- lots of the boat triops can be booked by turkish agents on the beach fornt or if you go to the harbour the boat staff also sell the same trips cheaper. also ask about all inclusive boat trips wiht all alcholol included as they wernt much more so well worth it.
Most friendly hotel
It's a while since I stayed at the Zevkim, 2004 I think but all the reviews I've read back up the experience I had. It's definately one of the best places I know in Marmaris. I've got mates that have been going to Marmaris for the last 22 years, well before it was a real tourist destination and even they say it's a gem in the crown of Marmaris. It's sensibly priced, it hasn't been screwed by the major tour operators (the Zevkim) and the staff are so friendly, helpfull and well worth their weight in gold (of which there's plenty to be found at the market!) I can't comment on the hotel since the owners have changed (I presume from the recent reviews and different names being mentioned) but they all come across with the same sentiment that I have - it's close to the centre but not noisy, clean and friendly. Everything you need when you're abroad. They are the best and should be supported. There's not much more I can say other than if you've not been to Marmaris before, stay at the Zevkim, it's a safe base which is in easy access to eveything you want and you will be made to feel at home.
Great loved it
I,ve just returned from the Zevkim went with hubby and 2 kids 13 and 5. We got a great welcome Mustafa the boss couldnt do enough for us. Our transport broke down but he sorted it all for us (booked all seperate) and when we arrived at 4am had drinks ready to welcome us. Kids were a bit tired which he understood and left us to settle in our cases all in room ready for us. The room was a good size 2 single beds in bed room with the air con and cot if u needed it, and the living room had 2 large folding down beds, the room was cleaned every day and fresh towels provided. We had a fridge in our room bt was told if room only no fridge so we were lucky kept all drinks nice and chilled, as it was so hot couldnt beleive it for that time of the year told was in the 50,s on some days. We ate breakfast every day at the Zevkim which was very nice only 5 lira for full english which was cheaper than most places, we had eveing meal there a few times which was very nice also the kids loved the pancakes couldnt get enough of them. All the staff are so friendly and will do anything for you all you need to do is ask and there it is. They also have entertainment on most nights and all the lads will get you up to dance. The pool was a bit small but as there was only a few couples staying there if wasnt a problem most days we had it all to ourselves anyway. You are central to everything i would say come out of hotel and you have shops to your left and right and loads of bargins to be had but haggle more fun and better price. There is a market on but was far to hot to go but told everything even cheaper than the shops so if you can stand the heat go fit it. Plenty of places to eat and drink inbetween your shopping. Our fav bar to go to was the George and Dragon about 10 min walk from Zevkim but great laugh and great food also, entertainment on every night but if you go for 2 weeks you will prob find most of it is repeated. The air con was £42 for 2 weeks £21 for the wk £10 to stay in room as check out time is 12 (we paid that was worth every penny) there was safety boxes also but not sure on price. All in all had a very good week at the Zevkim very friendly very hot and loads of laughs.
LOVED THE ZEVKIM HOTEL
We have been to Marmaris 16 times and this is the best hotel so far, Thanks to TJ, Jesus, Mehmett, Mustaffa and the rest of the staff they all made you very welcome, the food was fantastic from breakfasts to dinners and snacks, location brilliant close to everything rooms spotless, we are going back to this hotel in september.....
Fantastic Hotel Staff very Friendly and Helpful
Could not fault the hotel or the staff. The hotel was central close to the beach and the shops. Very basic but enjoyable would recommend it to all my friends. Room was spotless, cleaned everyday. Will be going back again.
Enjoyed our stay at Zevkim
We booked a last minute holiday in September 2004, and stayed at the Zevkim. We found it extremely clean, friendly and very central. We would definately stay there again!
