Just come back from a 2 week stay in Danny's.
We choose to go back to Danny's (last visit September 2004) because we had our one year old daughter with us - the apartments were well suitable for her!
Excellent location in Alykanas.
Staff were fantastic especially with the baby. Very friendly and helpful.
Danny's apartments are clean - maids are in everyday to change the bins and twice a week to do the beds and towels.
BBQ and Greek Night on Monday's is well worth the money.
Pool bar offers excellent food and the pool was always clean.
We tried not to buy from the shop as it was expensive. There are shops along the strip which sell the same things but cheaper.
Alykanas is very small and quiet. There are plenty of good terverna's to eat in. There is an excellent British bar named Busters.
Alykanas, we found, was very expensive. We went into Tsillivi which was soooo much cheaper. (2 jars of baby food in danny's 2euro30 in Tsillivi 0.97cent)
We caught the public bus into Zante town, bargain at 3euros for the 3 of us. Although the reps say it's unreliable everyone was happy with the service. We found a 'Spar', along the harbour, which was really cheap for food etc.
Only bad point for us was we were located on the 3rd floor which didn't help with the pushchair.
Highly reccommend Ioannis and Danny's and will definately return.

It was our second visit to Alykanas so when we goback this September 2008 it will be our third. we stayed at Dannys last year and are going back again because it was fantastic.
everyone at Danny's were so welcoming, the apartment was just great. we'd never booked apartments with a pool before coz we always preferred the beach, we were pleasantly surprised. the pool was great and the snack bar great, had the most fantastic pizza for lunch, about 3 euro's and when asked what i wanted on it i said could i have everything and that's what i got, gorgeous!!!! Alykanas is great, lovely selection of bars and restaurants, our favorite being Mantalena's. its also nice to be able to walk to Alykes if a change is required and also walk up to the village (where the Chemist is) after you've walked up there and back you deserve a good brekkie.
Would definitly recommend Alykanas and Ioannis and Dannys. Last year we didn't do the Barbeque but have promised ourselves we will do it this year coz when we came back everyone was still having a ball.
counting down the weeks until we go back, lovely!!!!!!!!!!!!11

With been single I took my son age 11, we had a brill time, Yanni's and Stelios who ran the bar were very friendly and could not do enough to help you they also had a lady working with them called Venera who made everyone very welcome, both adults and kids.
Bbq night well worth it, rooms clean, excellent location five minute walk to main strip, ten to fifteen to the beach which was nice, the sea was shallow for a good distance out ideal for kids, also good water sports.
To get back to Danny’s hotel it was a friendly relaxing place and we will be going back maybe Aug 07. Overall staff, rooms, pool and pool area, location, night time in the bar were spot on, nice resort.
Only two bad points there did seem to be a lot of people saying they had been bit a good many times when normally the mozzie's don't bother them including me and my son. That was all over the resort not just Danny’s. Second point was only one toilet in Danny’s bar for both men and women and kids which is not a good idea late on or anytime.
But well pleased overall with the holiday its not just about the place its sometimes about the people that are there the same time that makes the holiday, which is what helped to make ours.

Just recently returned from holiday in Zante staying at Danny’s & Ioannis apartments in Alykanas and I was less than impressed by this establishment. First of all we requested a downstairs room as mum is disabled, yet when we arrived she was allocated a room on the second floor and a young couple put downstairs opposite the pool (I would love to hear the explanation Aspro Holidays give for their no-common sense logic).
Upon complaint to the rep, Mum was moved to a different room, which was downstairs but this time about 50 yards from Danny’s Bar (once again the no-common sense logic of Aspro Holidays). Initially we were to stay at Danny’s for the entire two weeks but after three nights we had had enough! The pool area proved to be far too overcrowded for this fairly large apartment block and patronized by rather rowdy, foul mouthed people - certainly not a relaxing place for a disabled lady of seventy years old. The bar remained open until at least four in the morning. People would return to their rooms drunk and would argue, laugh and shout until the early hours.
On the fourth day of arriving In Zante we made an official complaint to the rep for Aspro Holidays and requested to be either moved to another complex or flown back to the UK. To add insult to injury, we all had to pay additional Euros to have our accommodation changed. The first three or four days here were enough. The only positive thing I can say about Danny’s was that it was kept clean.
All in all it was Noisy, certainly not the relaxing place the brochure painted it to be and put a dampener on the holiday. Anyone thinking of coming here expecting a peaceful relaxed break be warned!

I've read some poor comments on Danny's but my own experience was entirely the opposite. Our large room was cleaned every day. The floor and bathroom was cleaned with bleach and it was left spotless.
The complex was so friendly, bar had lots of entertainment and the prices were good. It is just down a little road off the main strip and you can walk along that to the next resort of Alykes. It's about 1km but you don't notice it at all because it is lined with shops, bars and restaurants. The road to the beach is only about 300m down the main strip (10 mins walk maximum).
I loved Zakynthos and can't wait to go back. I hope to get Danny's again as it added to the pleasure of the holiday to stay in such a nice apartment. Simple but cool and clean and everything you could want.
Having spent only £350 on the whole 2 week holiday with flights I was delighted.

We stayed at Danny's Hotel in July last year.
It is lovely and peaceful, set back from the bustling main street. The beach is quite a walk away but well worth the walk. It is very close to all the restaurants, bars and shops.
The room itself was very basic but served it's purpose - somewhere to crash at the end of the day.
The people who own the complex, especially Yannis, are very welcoming and made our holiday great. Yannis makes a fab 'sex on the beach' cocktail!!!
The pool area was nice and the snack bar serves a variety of meals, snacks and drinks.
The bar had a quiz night, a Greek night/barbecue and pool competitions during the week and music until the early hours (closing when the last guests went to bed!).
We went on the Kefalonia trip (where Captain Correlli's Mandolin was filmed) and had the best tasting ice-cream in the world in an ice-cream restaurant, the Turtle spotting trip, (didn't see any turtles, so don't waste your money as it's the wrong time of year in the summer months to see them) and the Smuggler's Cove trip (well worth a look just to say you've been there!).
We are definately thinking about going again this year, but will probably stay in Kalapigi which is owned by the same family as it was a bit newer.
All in all, a great two weeks which we thoroughly enjoyed.

I would recomend this family run complex. It had good size rooms, with a balcony over looking the pool. The pool was of excellent size and kept clean, with loads of sunbeds for everybody! There was a shop on site, which was adequate and reasonably priced. There was also a lively bar, run by the family with traditonal greek night and a bbq. The cooked meals and breakfasts could be had from the pool bar, cooked very well. There was also frequent maid service. You can expect a friendly welcome and stay from the staff and family of this complex. Big plus was a great bunch of guests at the complex. Nearby shops and beaches were clean, and the sea, very suitable for young children. Self catering facilities were minimal but with so many resturants nearby, it was great to go out every night! Pity about the exchange rate though?
