Loved the cat

We stayed for 2 weeks and arrived after a three & qtr hour delay at about 12.45 past midnight , we had room no 10 on ground floor and were between pool and crazy golf and got the sun most of the day. We had very good weather considering it was nearing the end of October, one bad rainy day and 2 cloudy days, otherwise the other days were sunny & warm enough to go in swimming pool and laze about on the sun loungers. The room was very clean, towels changed everyday, soaps shampoo, comb & shower hat provided. Bed linen changed regularly. The grounds were very well kept. We thought the food was great, the breakfast and evening meal excellent, the chef was always coming out bringing fresh food and checking that everything was OK, the head waiter was one of the nicest people you could meet , all the staff were great and this is what makes this hotel. The ginger & white cat was a real character the gardner used to shoo him off, but the children loved him, they used to go looking for him in the morning & he was so good with them not a vicious bone in his body and when any body played the crazy golf he was hilarious! he would run after the ball, put his paw down the hole & try & get ball out. We had a lovely relaxing time there.

When the hotel found out we have come back to visit them a bottle of red wine was left in the room for us, what a nice surprise. Although we came back, my second time and my boyfriends third, the hotel rooms are average, all are clean but definitly need a re-furb. Great for the older couple and the hotel is dominated by them. Hotel is quiet and entertainment is some - what limited no entertainment on a Saturday or Tuesday night either. They do not cater for children what-so-ever so not ideal for families. If you have children and you are staying here take them to the near by insotel club for some livlier entertainment, but beware the drinks are quite expensive here 7 euros for an apple juice!!! Staff are more than welcoming. Also make sure if you want a sun bed you get one early because people are out putting towels on them at 6am!! Pool is fab!! the best part about the xaloc!! and the crazy golf is free so worth doing. They also have a little games area with pool and air hockey. Pool bar is great and drinks are quite cheap and it's open until 12am. I have to say the worst part about the xaloc is the breakfast, very limited, always the same, mainly cater for germans e.c.t but drinks are free at breakfast. Dinner is somewhat better always a selection of different meat, fish and potatoes salad bar e.c.t. and changes every night and always a selection of cakes, fruit or ice-cream for desert. As for location its a few steps away from the gorgeous beach, though the sea can be rough at times and punta prima is known for this. Punta Prima is a small but nice resort and just a few minutes bus ride to the capitol mahon where you can access the whole of the island from here. I would recommend it to older couples although i don't think we will be going back.
Fantastic!!!!!!!

We only arrived home yesterday and we want to go back straight away! We stayed for 1 week and had the best time ever! Really relaxing and the staff were very friendly. Food and entertainment ideal for the length of our stay. Can't wait to go back!
a quick relax

We enjoyed the Xaloc, nothing to complain about, nice hotel, good food, cleanliness was good in all areas, good beach. Very quiet small resort (although we got a room above reception and above the car park which was quite noisy), but the worst bit was the 13hr delay at bristol airport, but it was friday the thirteenth, so everybody kept telling us! So our stay at the Xaloc was only 6 days instead of 7, but at least the Hotel was above our expectations, and we would have enjoyed a bit longer there.

hi there you hungry little travellers!! my wife & I stayed for a week at the xaloc(pronounced chaloc,as we found out)hotel in punta prima. To say it was excellent would be an understatement. The hotel is 1 minutes walk to the small but beautiful beach. The hotel was clean & rooms very presentable after the initial feeling of" wheres all our stuff gone?" only criticism we really have is in regard to the rooms located above the restauant, unless you know anyone who likes earlys on holiday? me neither. Quite noisy and sometimes the spanish hoodies pump out the tunes in the car park! only on a weekend(heard that phrase a few times!) Not that bad but try not to get the rooms overlooking the car park, unless your drunk & then its quite amusing! anyway,i would say definately a place to go if you like a slow pace of life, not lively at all,no clubs etc.. the best restaurant is the "fermin",tryed them all & this is the best.30 euros gets you 2 swordfish platters & a superb fruity red! £15.00!! it really shows you just how sad and greedy this god forsaken country is! petrols 50p a litre,20 oz of tobacco is £17.00! you must go to il porto restaurant in mahon port! we had a bottle of good champagne served in an ice bucket for £9! the port is fantastic... go forward & enjoy!!! please note: this is not sutabal as stated above..
Relaxing Xaloc Playa

Every May for the last three years we have stayed at this lovely relaxing and spotlessly clean hotel. As per usual the staff and management remain very efficient and extremely helpful, nothing is too much trouble for them. It is such a pleasure to see everyone with a smile on their faces. We have never had any complaints about this lovely little hotel and this year it was even better. The menu was more varied and for those who complained about the towels i am pleased to say they have been replaced. The evenings we had entertainment were enjoyable and more varied than usual,in particular the violinist was brilliant . Although the weather was very poor for Menorca at times we still had a lovely time as we hired a car and travelled around this beautiful island.Looking forward to returning again next May if not this September. Keep up the good work Mary and Pete.
Needed a Stress Free Break

On arrival were greeted by very helpful and friendly Reception staff. Even though we arrived at 10.00 a.m. our room was ready. Room was basic but had a lovely bathroom and a powerful shower, and the beds were comfortable. Plenty of extra pillows and blankets provided if requested. The Pool and public areas were immaculately kept. Bar staff were lovely and the service of 5 star quality - the lunchtime food menu was of very high standard. Thought the food (buffet style for breakfast and evening meal) could have been better, but as the hotel was due to close at the end of the week, as the guest numbers reduced so the evening food improved. Think the chef coped with smaller numbers and our last 2 evenings the food was of an excellent standard with some wonderful fish and sea food paella. ALL the staff were lovely, helpful and really enjoyed my basic Spanish! Punta Prima is small and unspoiled. Yes it only has 2 supermarkets, a few bars and restaurants,1 English Pub which we only visited once as the Hotel did not have Sky and we wanted to watch the Rugby Final. Fortunately the hotel will have Sky next year. If you want to get out and about - Bus service is good. Hire Car € 60 for 3 days round the corner from the hotel. Well organised and honest. Tours are offered but the draw back is spending an hour trawling around the hotels picking up other guests before and after the tour and cost about €40 per person. Beach is lovely and has lifeguards We had a wonderful week. Have stayed in many 5 star hotels but would go back to this one as the staff were so nice. Sad thing is that they are only emplyed from May to October so rely on tips which are put in a big pot and shared out equally. Result - 2 stress free people Faults - no air conditioning - fans can be hired Room insulation is not brilliant. Can hear hangers in wadrobes/TV/ loud talking etc. Doesn't help either when a group ( nationality withheld!!) leave at 5.40 a.m. and bounce their suitcases down 3 flights of stairs!! This is of course nothing to do with the hotel - just people being inconsiderate! No lift to main block - older or infirm people should check their room beforehand 2 small soaps for the whole week!! Think that was mean Will be glad when Menorca goes smoke free. Going into bars and even the outside areas of the hotel we were very much aware of smokers
Better hotel for 'The Older Traveller'...not a lot for children to do!

Great little hotel for the more mature traveller (such as myself) looking for a very clean hotel in a quiet resort, with a reasonable variety of food, all well cooked and suitable for most tastes.... ALL...repeat ...ALL staff better than average....Accommodation varied between normal rooms and 'Chalets'. We had a room with balcony, which like the others, was well maintained daily by the maids, including constant towel & linen change....Reception staff excelled....A very short and cheap bus journey will take you to the capital Mao (Mahon)....bus leaves and returns to the bus stance just around the corner from the hotel...the beach is just a skip and a hop across the road from the hotel...NOT a lot of shops here...2 supermarkets and a few restaurants...go into Mao, well before Siesta for shopping.... I was surprised how cheap the car hir was, using the one advertised in the hotel...our wee car cost £73.00 for 3 days and we used this to tour the main resorts around the island....Can't recommend the organised trips.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 weeks at the start of June this year. We initially booked it as a result of the reviews on Tripadvisor so to be honest we were pretty prepared for the type of hotel and the resort we were going to be staying at. The hotel itself is an above average, efficiently run and friendly staffed establishment. It has a real family run feel to it which definitely sets it apart from the typical chain run hotels that you tend to find in these resorts. The rooms are well maintained and kept spotlessly clean, however on the down side the walls are very thin and you can clearly hear your neighbours snoring etc. As mentioned by other reviewers the rooms can also get very hot as there is no air con. The restaurant was adequate and there was always plenty of food and choice but not being a fan of the buffet style of hotel dining, it does feel a rather rushed and slightly frantic service. it's a bit like a Motorway services. There was rather cheesy entertainment nearly every night which while not to me or my wife's taste seemed to appeal to most of the the other guests. I would add that the hotel seems to appeal primarily to retired people and the odd few couples with small children. It is a rather 'genteel' place. My wife and I are no spring chickens but we did feel a bit out of place. This isn't a crticism however as we wanted a quiet relaxed resort and hotel without noisy Brit pubs and the usual lager and full English breakfast type place. Punta Prima is defintely NOT like this! The location of the hotel could not be better for beach lovers. Punta Prima beach is literally a few steps from the hotel lobby. The beach itself is rather lovely - white sand, beautiful clear azure water and perfect for familes. We rented a car for a week and I have to recommend this to anyone who is staying in Punta Prima. As stated before Punta Prima is a lovely quiet resort, with just a couple of shops and restaurants but it is very, very quiet even by Menorca's standards which is saying something! We managed to get round really easily as the roads are so empty and we saw lots of other beautiful locations and beaches. Before I sum up our stay I have to recommend the lovely coastal footpath walk from the far end of Punta Prima beach to Cala d'Alcaufar. Lovely wild flowers, rosemary, thyme and wild olive trees. Anyway to sum up. Very nice hotel, not perfect but would stay there again and recommend it to certain friends. If you want a relaxing, peaceful and real 'holiday' from the everyday stresses and strains of life, you can't go far wrong with Xaloc Playa. Don't go expecting tons of things to do and sophisticated entertainment. I'd give Hotel Xaloc Playa an 8/10 overall.
Worth every Penny

Having just spent a week at the Xaloc Hotel in Punta Prima, Menorca, I would have no problems in recommending it! The Hotel is very clean and tidy, the food is excellent - a varied choice to suit everyone, the staff very friendly and helpful. The outdoor pool is very clean and there are plenty of sun beds for everyone. (Oh and reserving them is not allowed which is good). The drinks are reasonable and they have a good snack menu for in between meals. Th beach is just across the road, though there is a charge of 5euro for each bed and another 5 for a parasol. There are shops and supermarkets close by with fresh baked breads and pastries, cold drinks and ice creams etc. There is also entertainment 5 times a week (which is better with a glass of wine or two) lol. The only faults I could find is - no air conditioning in the rooms, but you can hire a fan at a worthwhile cost and the other thing that got me off to a bad start was after arriving on an early morning flight - approx 9.30am we were told that the rooms are never ready until about 1pm, which meant sitting in our UK clothing (cold, wet, thermal stuff) in boiling hot weather and after travelling for hours, not to mention feeling tired. But once that initial set back was out of the way, it turned out to be the most relaxing and enjoyable holiday I have had in a long time.
It's lovely but very quiet.
from 3holidaysayear
Punta Prima is a very quiet place. Little to do but relax in the sun all day and not too much to do at night except eat food and drink. Perfect!! The hotel is lovely even if the rooms are a little small. Try and get one with pool view in the main block, we were in 202 and had a pool view and could see the med from the baclony. The food was great and I cant believe that people moan about it on here, we never heard one complaint and the service was superb. I would recommend going to Son Bou as the beach there is fantastic. Hire a car (£62 for 3 days) from the hire shop round the corner (it's the only one!) and just relax at the wonderful beaches all around Menorca. Dont go if you want to party all night
Had a great time but no air con.

Firstly, I would like to say that the XALOC PLAYA HOTEL in PUNTA PRIMA had only two things that could be a problem. There was no air-con (but fans could be hired) and for older people or those perhaps with physical problems there were no lifts. There was only one block where this could be a problem, as the rest consisted mainly of single units and blocks with just a first floor and their own back steps. I was relieved and pleased to find the hotel and its staff had a lovely friendly and relaxed way to it. The rooms were cleaned daily with fresh changes of towels and the hotel was always clean and tidy. On the outside I think I would have preferred the hotel to be painted a different colour to the biscuit shade it was painted. The buffet style breakfasts and evening meals always had a large range of cold and hot foods to choose from and there was always plenty of it. There were variations to it every day. Around the pools there were free sunloungers and they did actually have a notice up to say that you could not reserve sunloungers by leaving your towel on it all day, and that they would be removed. This gives everyone a chance to use them. There were shady trees around the pools with benches, crazy golf, table tennis and two pool tables. The reception lounge area was nice and relaxing to just sit and enjoy. Most of the nights there was a selection of different types of entertainment laid on ranging from 1 hour to two hours, and when this finished, or you wanted to see something else, then the Lighthous bar just around the corner usually had a small group or music playing as well. Some of it was okay, and some a bit mediocre, but usually a good singalong. The bus service was regular to Mahon and only cost 1.20 euros one way and stopped right outside the hotel. The beach is literally a stones throw from the hotel with clean white sand, a beach lifeguard and loungers to hire if you want. There are restaurants and also supermarkets with exchange facilities. There is also an ATM. Punta Prima is a small resort and mainly for older people and young families. We went there with two twenty year olds in our party, and although they had a good time and are not party animals anyway, there was not a lot for their age group. Overall we had a lovely relaxing holiday, and there are fans to hire for 2 euros a day if you need them for your room.

Myself, my partner, our children (aged 2 and 12) and my mum visited hotel Xaloc in May half term this year. Even though the hotel is only 3 star, we had a fantastic stay. The hotel is very clean, the staff very welcoming, a good variety of food is available on the buffet... more
