Really good location
from NorthernIrish_7
We returned yesterday from a week at El Pinar. Were allocated a studio, which was very adequate and had a good view of the pool and tennis court....and a glimpse of the sea!! However to get to the beach, it was only a matter of going down a few steps. The pool area was fine, the usual problem of people putting out towels at 8am and then not using the loungers til 2pm. The management put up notices and did try to remove the towels a few times, but the holidaymakers just kept putting them back - so theres not much more they can do. The apartments are kept clean and towels changed every other day. We went on the water taxi to Es Cana, which stops at St. Eularia on the way - this costs 11euros return and takes bout a hour each way. Got the bus to Ibiza town for just under 2euros and got taxi back at 1.am for 17euros. Ibiza town at night is brilliant - you have to go up into the old town and could sit and people watch for hours. Theres not a lot of night entertainment in Cala Longa, but the restaurants and bars are all very reasonable priced. Went to Mr Cairos a couple of nights, and went into the hotel next door to ours to see how the other half holiday (its a thompson gold hotel!!) We could hear their music each night from the balcony and it was very good. All in all, we were very pleased with the apartments and the resort is really scenic, and the temperatures 30 degrees!!
good for small children

el pinar is very well situated for access to the beach and it has its own swimming pool so there's not far to go for either which was practical with two babies. it is also at the less populated end of the seafront. the beach at cala llonga is a gentle slope into the sea and the el pinar pool also has a shallow toddler pool. like increasing amounts of places in the mediterranean, the sea could have been cleaner. although we loved going to the beach, i was sorry to see a few plastic bags, bits of paper and other man-made flotsam in the water. it was great to have an apartment at el pinar (some have good sea and beach views with balconies) as it gave us a fridge and cooking facilities. but el pinar also has a restaurant which gives you the added choice. they were very good at preparing us takeaway meals to eat in the apartment and i had two of the best fish meals i've ever eaten while there - both done in traditional spanish style. be aware that the resort of cala llonga is very popular with british tour operators so the main nationality there is british - having booked direct i was unaware of this in advance.
enjoyable

I have just returned after 2 weeks at el pinar and had a great holiday. If you are going to relax and chill out then cala llonga is perfect, but if you are looking for busy bars and late nights then look elsewhere as it is very quiet at night.El pinar is very clean and the staff are nice and cheery.the only problems we had where when ordering food.We where often given wrong order and where frequently charged for items we never had,so check your bill..!The entertainment during the day for kids is excellent with brian the entertainer keeping them busy with kids club in the morning to the lilo race and football in the afternoon. The entertainment at night could be better but if you have kids then i would recommend el pinar and would definately go back but only for a week as we found 2 weeks to long as outside of the hotel there is not much to do.
A Pleasant Stay at the El Pinar
from Stacy_Louise
My two friends and I stayed in the El Pinar Aparthotel, Cala Llonga from the 30th June to 8th July 2007. Overall our holiday was enjoyable. My first impression of this Aparthotel was good, the reception area one of the nicest I’ve seen for self catering apartments. Our room was lovely, although fairly small for three. The view from the balcony was also lovely; we had a pool view with a green hilly back drop, very pretty. I was dismayed to discover that the maid service only came twice a week, and they don’t change your sheets the whole time you’re there! I really don’t think the cleanliness levels were where they should be for a three star, as I had the same black mark on my sheets for my whole stay, not good. The pool area – Was pleasant, and you could always get a sun bed, however to get one in a spot that gets a fair amount of sun you should probably get one by about 10. I was slightly baffled by what the apartment staff classified as safe and non-safe pool behaviour. Lilo’s are not allowed in the pool even when no-body else is in it, as this is considered a health and safety risk. However they find it perfectly acceptable and safe to let everybody run up to and jump in the pool even around other people who are trying to swim. The bar – The bar staff are plain rude! For just one example, me and my friends were standing at the bar waiting to be served there was no-one else waiting at the time, however the bar man ignored us completely, he stood and cleaned out ash trays rather than serve us, I really could not believe it. The cocktails there were also awful, don’t buy them. If you’re a cocktail fan, or just like a nice quite drink in a friendly bar where the service is good I would recommend, The Pirate Bar and Mayfair’s cocktails, which are both close to each other. Food – There was a fair choice of good places to eat around this aparthotel. I would recommend Flippers, it doesn’t look like much however they have a great menu, the food is really good, served in big portions and good value for money. It was recommended to us on our first day by another holiday maker. The beach – was lovely. It was only a short walk away, clean and there were always available sun beds, best of all no lilo ban! Cala Llonga – was a lovely resort. It was pretty, felt safe, and was clean and friendly. Everything you needed was only a short walk away. There was a good public transport service into the surrounding areas. We went into Ibiza Town for a day which was interesting to look around.
brilliant. already booked 4 next year.

we returned from ibiza {el pinar] on the 4th of july and by the 8th we had already booked to go back, i went with my boyfriend and son aged 5, we all had a fantastic time, calla llonga is such a nice, relaxing, quiet resort but with still plenty to do espeacially for children, if required transport to ibiza town, santa eulalia is easy and reasonably priced, the el pinar is in the perfect location right on the beech and just 5 minits walk from the shops resturants and super markets, there are 2 parks located on the beech for the children and also a small funfair just up the road {10 minits walk if that].. entertainment at the el pinar is good theres something on every night from 10pm b4 that its the kids club which is great even 4 us !!watch out for the quiz show "zapping" on monday nights its great, really enjoyed that ...all staff are freindly a speak good english, rooms are a good size and really clean we had a sea view well worth the little bit extra.. if you've booked the el pinar you wont be dissapointed its really nice and we cant wait to go back.. deffernatly recommend it !
Loved the El Pinar,great place!!!

My family and i stayed at the El Pinar in June, what a great place to stay!! Rooms. We stayed in one of the larger studio's,spotlessly clean, cleaned every other day, with clean towels, very polite maids. Kichenette has 2 rings, toaster and microwave, even tea-towels and washing up liquid were supplied, though could benefit from an electric kettle. Lovely large bathroom, with good powerful shower, etc. Double bed settee and two single beds, and table with 4 chairs, adequate for me,my hubby and 2 teenage kids, added bonus of ceiling fan,got very hot during the day,so this was well used, large balcony with tableand chairs. Pool area. Very clean pool area, with plenty of sunbeds for everyone, small kids pool as well,Brian the hotel entertainer, did pool games most afternoons for the kids, young and old!! The staff at the El Pinar are very nice, make you feel very welcome and are very friendly. If you wan't to eat in the restaurant the food is very reasonably priced with good size portions. Entertainment most nights, parrot show, live music, bingo etc. The El Pinar is in ideal location a 2 minute walk to the beach, which has plenty of sunbeds, parasols, although a bit on the expensive side,12 eurosfor 2 sunbeds and a parasol!! Banana boat was quite good value,7 euros each and pedaloes were 14 euros,Beach is kept clean and the sea was lovely,no problem with jelly fish while we were there. The resort of cala llonga itself is lovely, some nice resturants and bars, especially mr carios and flippers is highly recommended. Quite a few shops and supermarkets, and a good bus service into ibiza or santa eularlia. A great holiday was had by us all at the El Pinar,i would definately recommend it to any one!!!!!!!
We are going back!
from Lau_7
After reading loads of great reviews on all the sites for the El Pinar I was very pleased that they were all right! The hotel was very clean and the staff (apart from a rude Danish receptionist) were very helpful and friendly. We stayed (me, my husband and our 2 children aged 2 and 4 years old) in a small studio apartment over the road, I was concerned that there may not be enough space but it was fine as long as you kept things reasonably tidy. We are going again next year but I think I will book a one bedroom apartment just for a little more space. The pool was very nice, although did get crowded at times. The beach and sea is excellent though and most days were spent there. The resort is very nice, but fairly quiet and probably could do with a few more restaurants and bars, although saying that in the 10 nights we were in Cala Llonga we ate out somewhere different every night. All the meals we had were excellent, so don’t be put off by the fact that you will just be sitting on plastic garden chairs! Valentino’s and SOS (pizza’s are great there) are well worth a visit. To get any tapas or more authentic Spanish dishes we had to venture into Ibiza Town and Santa Eulalia for days out. Buses, water taxi’s and taxi’s are very easy and fairly cheap to use, but I would not recommend going on a water taxi when the sea is choppy, very scary indeed!
A Great hotel and resort !!
from rspower7
We read all the reviews on this site and thought we would give it a go. Im glad we did !! As it was a great holiday ! The hotel its self is very clean and has all you need for a great family holiday, its in a great location, right next to the beach and all shops and bars. The pool is small ish but was great for us to sun bath and kids to play. We had the sea view which you need ! The hotel staff are all very friendly and bar staff are great with the kids. The evening entertainment is ok but not as good as larger hotels, but for the holiday cost you cant beat it !! The resort of Cala Llonga is the best around !! Quite small and quite but thats the wat we like it ! The busses to Evissa town and Santa Eulalia are cheep and easy to use. Also has a sea taxi to all the places witch is good. We are going here agin next year !!! The two best resturants we used were Flippers which is english, loads of food and is great. The other not sure of the name but on the corner next to SOS, The owners name is PACO and great with the kids !! Food is like snack food ie : chips and burger ect.
Go to the El Pinar

We have been staying at the El Pinar in Cala LLonga for 9 years and would thoroughly recommend to anyone. The Aparthotel itself is warm and welcoming and whichever room you book is well equipped for self catering. The staff are excellent from Reception to Cleaning. The food is very good. Barstaff/waiting staff speak fluent English if you do not speak Spanish and will help you with anything. The beach is clean and attended to daily, as is the pool. The gentle sloping entrance into the sea makes it accessible for all including those with disabilities. You can get to any other part of the island by bus, taxi or boat. Ther are several other small bars and resturants located within walking distance and enough shops within the village that should you choose not to venture can cater for all needs. We would thoroughly recommend this Aparthotel to couples, families, indeed anyone who would like a quiet, relaxing location that is relatively unspoilt but gives you access to busier places should you wish to visit. We are particularly impressed with the disabled accessibility of this location. In the 9 years that we have been going, sometimes twice a year we have never failed to be impressed.

Highly recommended. This is very clean, the location is brilliant, Cala Longa is one of the very best beaches on the Island. The rooms were very is very good decorative order and regularly cleaned. This is a great place to stay close to the beach and the food is very cheap and clean if you fancy staying in. Plenty to do and a short drive to other places (or a bus trip) if you fancy going to visit other parts of the Island which is highly recommended. this is an area specifically built for tourists so don't expect traditional architecture. The only reason this hotel is did not get an 'excellent' is because the reception lady wa very rude and abrupt and also one of the rooms was broken into during our 2-week stay so I would say be careful. The pool was good but as usual never enough sunbeds and everyone leaves their towel out at the crack of dawn so no one else can use them! I would happily go back again if I was ever in Ibiza again. My only comment is that there is a hotel across the bay which plays loud music until midnight (when all music must be at a low volume due to local laws). For those of you who have never been to Ibiza before don't believe everything you see on tv - this is nothing like 'San Antonio' and a great place for families with perfect temperature. My only comment is that the food in Ibiza caters mainly for the English - ie. pizza and chips and it is difficult although not impossible to find other food.

Dont want to play on the "oh woe is me, i am a single mum" as i consider myself and my 7 year old daughter extremely fortunate, but this was without a doubt the best holiday we have ever had together. I have been visiting Cala Llonga and other resorts in Ibiza since i was a... more
