Dont want to play on the "oh woe is me, i am a single mum" as i consider myself and my 7 year old daughter extremely fortunate, but this was without a doubt the best holiday we have ever had together.
I have been visiting Cala Llonga and other resorts in Ibiza since i was a child in the lates 70's and Cala Llonga is by far the best resort if you are on your own your own with kids.
El Pinar is clean and well catered for, there are things for the kids to do during the day, the pool has a separate kids pool. The restaurant has the usual "kids menu" stuff like Burgers, fish fingers, spag bol etc.
We stayed in one of the studio apartments which was perfect for the 2 of us, The maids came and made our beds and gave us clean towels EVERY DAY !!!!!!!... Fair enough, it wasn't 5 star luxury but it was clean and tidy. The small kitchenette was ok, with a sink and full sized fridge with ice compartment freezer, a brand new microwave and toaster and a 2 ring electric hob. i would suggest taking a travel kettle if you like a cup of tea in the morning or are making up babies bottles.
I don't particularly like the whole english bar and restaraunt thing, so we always look for authentic spanish food when we are on holiday so we found Cala llonga pretty limited for food (unless you like english food). SOS is good for local food, but i would suggest going to Santa Eulalia for more authentic ibicencan food, restaurants like Bar Juanitas in Calle Vicente (which is padestrianised and full of places to eat) is the best if you like fish and seafood, the bar Can Cosmi or Bar Royalty is good for people watching.
Other than that, El pinar is fab fab fab fab fab, right in the beach, clean and tidy and quiet.......... perfect................ will deff book for next year.

Fantastic Holiday !

Aug 2009, Lisa F

We have just come back from El Pinar Apartments in Cala Llonga, Fantastic holiday.
There where 16 of us (4 families). Very clean spacious apartments, worth it to have
a sea view across the beautiful bay. The staff are very friendly, Jess (kids club) is brilliant with the kids. Pool was great got sunbeds everyday no problems. Plenty of
room and great location for the beach. There for the fireworks which were spectacular.
Definately go back to El Pinar. Recommend SOS, Flippers and Sirocco restaurants.

We have just spent a wonderful 2 weeks at the ElPinar. The apartments are clean and reasonably spaceous. I would say that they do lack air con, but they do have ceiling fans and blackout drapes.
The pool area is an adequate size with enough sun beds. They are have a tennis court that we used a couple of times.
Rooms have decent kitchen area but would do with an electric kettle. But they did have a toaster.
Entertainment seemed to be every other night and was quite enjoyable. Jess the daytime entertainer was great with the children (who all adored her).
The apartments are ideally situated for bars, beach and restaurants.
Cala Llonga itself is a beautiful resort, with some lovely places to eat. Breakfast I would recommend Flippers and evening meal it would be Valentinos. Nightly entertainment has to be Mister Cairos bar. They have some great acts on.
Overall would definately recommend both cala Llonga and ElPinar.

i have recommended this resort to everyone i know. i went for 2 weeks for my 25th time it is very clean, child friendly, reliable and staff are extremely friendly. a very short way to the beach.they also provide entertainment and night for about 9:30 onwards were they have karaoke and all sorts of fun. there is a children's disco every night for 30 minutes. as food wise i would strongly recommend flippers or sos up the hill. there is a ferry that takes you to different places such as Ibiza town, san antonio and a few others. and the good part is its not far from the airport(20 mins) and leaving from england it only takes about 2 hours and 30 mins. try and get a hotel in the main hotel and in the studio apartments they have no balcony. but a great place to go if you want a break with the family.

Injuries which I sustained due to flooring at El Pinar.

Nov 2008, julie chiv

22/06/08 arrived for our 22nd visit to el pinar. 24/06/08 2pm left the beach to shower before meeting spanish friends. Room hadn't been serviced so asked cleaners for extra towells. Took shower, stood on small towelling mat provided. Dried myself and dried bathroom floor as we know that the marble tiling can be slippery when wet. As I left the bathroom I slipped and sustained a double fracture to my left wrist and a single fracture to my right wrist. Was taken immediately to private clinic in Ibiza town. Asked for accident report form at El Pinar but Thomas Cook rep didn't have one so details were written out by my Husband and given to rep on peice of paper which she provided. Stayed on for the remaining 12 days of our holiday, but in great pain, and our holiday was ruined. When we returned to England on 6/7/08 had to employ people to cook and clean as I could do absolutely nothing with both arms in plaster. Approached Ms Mayte Ramon (the owner of El Pinar) with a view to covering some of the costs which we were incurring eg my husbands unpaid time of work taking me for hospital appointments and the costs of employing help.
Unfortunately, although we had been loyal visitors to El Pinar Ms Ramon would not help at all. When I finally demanded a copy of the report from Thomas Cooks rep it was totally wrong, with obvious insertions added ( in a different collour ink)to alter the whole context of what had happened. Although the rep Ms Jodie Watson had had 12 days to show us her written report and to check that it was correct she made no effort to do this!
What should have been our usual happy holiday has turned into a total nightmare, I am advised that I will never get full movement back in my left wrist and I have paid out hundreds of pounds in physiotherapy
My husband and I will never stay at El Pinar again and feel totally disgusted at the way we have been treated by Ms Raymon the owner and Thomas Cook
I'd be very interested to know of anyone else who has sustained injuries in this way at El Pinar.

my wife, myself and two teenage daughters stayed at the el pinar apartments for two weeks and had a fantastic time. the apartments in the main block are so spacious and clean, we had a studio with a sea view, and nithing could have topped it. the bay is beautiful.
the staff were always polite and friendly, although they worked very long hours, they always managed a smile, the maids were very efficient and thorough, they changed the towels on a regular basis and the bedding about six times whilst we were there. the food in the apartments was very nice, but we ate out most of the time and recommend flippers, and sos restaurante, both very close to the apartments. for entertainment definately mr cairos up the hill past the fountain, you are guaranteed a great time there.
calla llonga is a lovely safe bay with no age barriers, there is something for everybody. the bus links and sea taxis are very regular and very cheap as well
i would recommend cala llonga very much and for accomodation i think you would be very hard pushed to find anywhere better than the el pinar apartments.

El Pinar is a nice place to stay, the apartments were well equipped and the pool and sea views are great. (dont stay at the smaller apartments across the road - they have no balcony and its worth the extra money to stay in the main building) the apartments are very clean!!!! The only major annoyance was the cleaners clattering around at 8 in the morning almost every day!!! But overall the apartments were great and the pool area very clean.
The beach was lovely, but the sunbeds are 4euros each, so expensive if you use them every day. a few jelly fish in the sea, but easy to avoid. The two beach bars are excellent and the snacks very nice.
The food in Cala Llonga wasnt great. Flippers was probably the best place to eat.... but overpriced, La Cantina was pretty good too. We tried almost every other restaurant, SOS, the all you can eat BBQ (AVOID!!) but found the food terrible, and overpriced in each one.
If you try Cala Llonga a would definately suggest a trip to Ibiza town and Formentera. Formentera is beautiful and has glorious white sand (just like the carribean!) it is pure luxury! but take some food and drinks with you as our small meals and drink for four cost 100euro!!!
i would go back to cala llonga, but would probably stay somewhere all inclusive as the food was very poor and overpriced in the resort.

Sep 2008, Miss N Busby

I have to say there were many aspects of this holiday that I simply did not enjoy!
1. The reception staff were very abrupt.
2. When asked if the reception staff could change some currency, we were told to go into the town for a better deal!
3. The bar staff spoke very little English, and so you often were given drinks that you didn't ask for!
4. We had an intruder in the middle of the night at around 3am! This, according to the reception staff, was the night porter checking to see if our room was available! (Surely computerised systems are in place here to show whether the room is occupied or not? If not, was there a problem with the telephone system that was linked to our room!?).
I would not recommend this accomodation at all. The only good aspect was that the appartments were near to the beach. Don't expect a fabulous welcome if you're one of the unfortunate ones that have already booked to go here, it just won't happen!!!!

just come back from el pinar...

Aug 2008, Mr R Dixon

just come back from el pinar apartments, 1st time to this resort so not sure what to expect. room very clean on arrival and cleaned 3 times a week, couldnt fault the cleanliness of the whole place, public areas seemed very well looked after.
unfortunately the programme of entertainment was sadly lacking, bearing in mind the time of year there were no activities at all for children during the day and a very basic standard of entertainment of an evening.
resort was very expensive for food and drink with the local restaurants not being up to much in the way of either value for money or good quality food!, flippers was ok if you like deep fried food covered in cheddar cheese!.
beach was ok, quite busy all day long but loads of loungers for 12euros per day, lots of litter in the water but once you were 10-20 metres from the shore it cleared up!, quite a few jellyfish but the lifeguard had spray for any stings.
all in all not a bad resort just be prepared to travel to nearby towns if you want anything a bit livelier, teens may be bored- ours was!!!

been to ibiza three years previous with husband and two kids(14 & 10), this must be one of the best resorts on the island, if you're looking for family friendly, great restraunts, beautiful beach, safe sea for kids, easy access to nearby local towns and lots for everyone to enjoy, cala llonga has it all! el pinar was situated on the beach, had friendly staff(pepe & raquel).we stayed 2 weeks and linen and towels were changed 3 times each week.hotel clean, comfortable, great pool area and reasonably priced. no airconditioning in the room, but there was a ceiling fan(only downfall of the holiday). best restaurants- regina at the beach front(paco, julian and staff are friendly and great with the kids),chinese was excellent, sos, and lots more!we didn't want to come home. will most definitely return next year.

Jul 2008, Mrs M Hughes

Clean well kept complex within close proximity to beach. Frequent maid service and change of linen. Good free evening entertainment provided at El Pinar from 10-12pm. Drawbacks were the amount of litter washed up during the day on the beach and the numerous jellyfish which were causing nasty stings. Made us abandon the beach for the pool towards the end of our holiday. Strength of the euro against the pound makes everything that bit more expensive. Favourite place to eat out was restaurant SOS. All in all an excellent resort for those seeking a quiet relaxing break.

Jun 2008, october

Returned to these apartments for a second time. We found them to be still very clean and well equipped.
0verall we had a very good holiday, but found as the euro is very strong the prices especially food has risen very high!!! We paid 2.80euros (over £2.00) for SMALL loaf of bread and 2.50 euros for a tin of heinz beans, but one of the supermarkets DEL MAR were selling french stick bread a bit cheaper and was fresh from their ovens throughout the day.
Cala Llonga is ideal for the quieter holiday, bars and restaurants easily reached and one or two more exclusive ones tucked away.
I would recommend this holiday resort for being compact and very friendly.
