Lemuria Resort Hotel

We spent 7 nights at the Lemuria with our 2 kids aged 6 and 8 and the overall impression that we keep is of a big disappointment. This hotel is horribly expensive for the service it provides and for the quality of the accomodation. First, people must realize this is a huge hotel where clients are treated as room numbers and not as individuals. The restaurants have a very limited choice on their menus and after a week you have to eat the same courses as earlier in the week. My wife and three young children recently stayed for two nights at the Lemuria having flown from London overnight and connected to Praslin. Though the setting of the hotel and accommodation are unbeatable, we were very disappointed by the level of service. Things started to go wrong from the start with the arranged transport not waiting for us at the airport. On arrival there was a long delay waiting for forms to fill etc when all we wanted was to get the 6/5 and 3 year olds into the rooms and change into beach gear ! Then it came... more

Following an initial 5 day visit to Lemuria in February 2005, our first visit to the Seychelles, we returned for 10 days on 6th February 2006. The Gardens and Golf Course of this Resort are both immaculately kept and very beautiful, they blend into the natural environment in the most sympathetic way, as do the buildings of the Hotel. This hotel is located in a beautiful spot, amidst pristine beaches and crystal blue seas - a real dreamy spot. The hotel itself is average. The food is at best mediocre, the wine list is eye wateringly overpriced, and sundries such as a box of Tampons for Madame can set you back € 20.00 !! The staff are friendly but inexperienced, and the hotel is in a word, dull. We spent lovely days in Lemuria. The only bad points we found was : - the fact you have to bring your credit card to the boat house to get a free mask for snorkeling. Everywhere in the hotel, you just have to give your room number to pay something. So, having to bring your credit card for a free service is strange. - the real bad thing is the mini club. First of all is the situation in the resort : no-where you have problems with mosquittos, and here our children, as the other, had there legs totally spotted around 5.PM. The girls... more

Praslin Island is the second largest island in the Seychelles, with only a few thousand people living along the coastline, the entire center of the island is wild, including the Vallee de Mai where you are covered by a canopy of palms. Lemuria Resort occupies the entire northwest corner of the island, including 3 beaches, a golf course, 105 rooms, 3 restaurants, a 3-level fresh water pool with swimup bar, and acres of landscaped property. Praslin is a great location for exploring all the nearby islands and getting a feel for the Seychelles.... more

We visited Lemuria in January 2004. We've travelled all over the world, and honestly, this is one of the best hotels we have stayed in - you can really relax here with world class beaches, service and food. We'll definitely be returning at some point and look forward to visiting its sister hotel, Le Prince Maurice, on our honeymoon in July 2006!

We stayed at the Lemuria between September 3 -10, 2005. All in all we had a wonderful time there. We hope that our review will help others to make decision on where they should spend their vacation (especially on the exclusive and high price destination as the Seychelles). The hotel architecture itself is well integrated into the nature. Praslin is a very beautiful island and Lemuria fits well into the environment. The hotel atmosphere is relaxing as the nature is. The four of us (husband, sons age 17 and 21 and I) stayed at the Lemuria for a long weekend from 15 to 18 july 2005 as part of our 35th (read 35 no typo!) wedding anniversary celebrations. All of us agree: It is the most wonderful place we have ever been (and believe you me – we’ve seen some!). For our honeymoon we spent 12 nights here (after 3 nights on Safari in Africa which was fantastic). I could not fault Lemuria apart from the endless rain we had to endure! It was a living nightmare. We had rain for 3 days constantly at one point and only 4 days of uninterrupted sunshine. When the weather was fine, the resort was gorgeous, but unfortunately in the rain it looks very different and there is nothing to do! We could not have done more research into the weather and everyone at resort kept telling us how unusual it... more
