Well where do i start ,As soon as we walked through the door to the reception area we loved it.The hotel is gorgeous and all the staff are wonderful.we arrived back on thurs and 2 days later we booked for next years holiday .I would
recommend this hotel to anyone who likes the quieter holiday. There is a brand new town built down the road which costs about £3.00 by taxi but get the bell boys to order it or make sure of the price before getting in the cab (make sure the charge is for everybody not each)they don't hassle you down there you can wander round some big shops. .The lagoon is brilliant to swim in and the fish are swimming all around you,The one thing I will say is be very careful if you go outside the safety of the lagoon under the bridge as the current is stronger than you think as i found out and had to be pulled in by the life guard(Thank you again Ahmed). Can't fault it at all and can't wait to get back there.

THIS WAS OUR FIRST VISIT TO EGYPT AND OUR RIST ALL INCLUSIVE. THE HOTEL IS VERY GOOD WITH THE ONLY COMPLAINT BEING THE VERY HARD BED. THE STAFF ARE ALL VERY FRIENDLY AND OUR FAVS WERE MOAHMED ON THE BEACH, MOHAMED THE LOBBY BARMAN, TONI FROM ANMATION TEAM AND SAMY IN THE AIDA RESTUARANT.

THE FOOD WAS GOOD AND THERE WAS ALWAYS A GOOD VARIETY. I AM VEGETARIAN BUT ALWAYS FOUND PLENTY I COULD EAT. WE ATE A COUPLE OF TIMES IN THE ARABIAM RESTUARANT WHICH DIDN'T SEEM TO BE POPULAR. I THOUGHT IT WAS GREAT AND THE FOOD WAS VERY NICE. WE CELEBRATED OUR WEDDING ANNIVERSARY HERE AND WAS SPOILT WITH MUSIC(DRUMS) AND DANCING AND A CAKE WHICH WE WERE TOO FULL TO EAT. THE REST OF THE TIME WE ATE IN THE AIDA WHERE THE STAFF WERE ALL VERY FRIENDLY AND EFFECIENT.

THE ANIMATIONS TEAM TRIED HARD TIO GET EVERYONE TO JOIN IN THE GAMES IN THE DAYTIME BUT WE DIDN'T SO CAN'T COMMENT. THE BEACH AREA WAS VERY CLEAN AND THE LAGOON WAS LOVELY. IT WAS NICE TO HAVE THE BEACH BAR WHERE YOU COULD JUST GO AND HELP YOURSELF TO COLD SOFT DRINKS.

I SUPPOSE THE EVENING ENTERTAINMENT WASN'T FANTASTIC BUT WE ENJOYED ACHMED THE SINGER IN THE LOBBY BAR WHO LET MY HUSBAND JOIN IN AND HAVE A SING.

THE RECEPTION STAFF WERE HEKPFUL AND ANY PROBLEMS WERE SOON DEAL WITH.

THERE WERE SHOPS WITHIN THE HOTEL WHICH DID SEEM TO STOCK SOME NICE STUFF BUT NO FIXED PRICES AND IT WAS EASY TO GET RIPPED OFF. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE IF THE PRICES WITHIN THE HOTEL WERE FIXED.

OUTSIDE OF THE HOTEL THE SHOPPING EXPERIENCE IS A NIGHTMARE UNLESS YOU LIKE HAGGLING AND BEING HARASSED THE WHOLE TIME.

THE TRIPS SEEMED TO BE GOOD. WE DID THE FLIGHT TO CAIRO WHICH WAS A FANTASTIC DAY THOUGH WE HADA VERY EARLY START.

WE ALSO DI THE YELLOW SUBMARINE WHICH WAS A GOOD EXPERIENCE TO GO ON A PROPER SUB.

ALSO DID THE STARGAZING IN THE DESERT WHICH WAS NOT SO GOOD. THE 4X4 HAD REALLY UNCOMFORTABLE BENCH SEATS IN THE BACK.

MY HUSBAND DID THE DIVING FROM THE HOTEL DIVING CENTRE AND HE THOUROUGHLY ENJOYED IT AND SAID THE STAFF WERE VERY GOOD.

THE ROOMS WERE KEPT VERY CLEAN AND THE TOWEL CREATIONS WERE VERY AMUSING. THE AIR CONDITIONING IN THE ROOM WAS VERY GOOD BUT IN THE REST OF THE HOTEL IT WASN'T WORKING AND IT WAS A BIT HOT AND UNCOMFORTABLE SOMETIMES.

IT WAS NICE TO HAVE THE SAFE DEPOSIT BOS IN THE ROOM AND ALSO TO FIND THAT THERE WAS A KETTLE THERE. SOEM TEA-BAGS, SUGAR AND COFFEE WERE PROVIDED WHICH YOU COULD TOP UP FROM THE RESTUARANTS BUT NO MILK AVAILABLE.

ALL IN ALL A BRILLIANT HOLIDAY AND I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL.

The hotel is old and in great need of a makeover. It is clear that it has changed hands several times recently. The room itself was ok, but the bathroom was tatty and consisted of a broken floor tiles a shabby plastic shower cubicle with rotten wooden base. The communal areas of the hotel were of a reasonable standard although paths in places were breaking up and fine rubble left unswept. The waste ground outside the room between us and the next hotel had rubbish, dead animals and uncovered drains. With the number of flies landing on you and your food and drinks I felt unclean.

Location

The hotel is merely 20 mins from the airport and sits under the flight path to the airport, great if you are a plane spotter, however it did not cause any problem. The hotel has its own beach which is safe and clean but is manmade and as such the sand is very coarse. There is a new shopping centre directly opposite the hotel.

Service

The staff are very attentive and friendly, your children will not be ignored whilst at the bar. Ismail from the pool bar has a constant wide smile and works very hard all day and night

Food

The hotel has three restaurants. The buffet which serves a wide range of tasty dishes but unfortunately always luke warm unless it is cooked in front of you. The beach restaurant serving pizza, burgers, hotdogs etc was very good. The a-la-carte was hugely disappointing and we wished we had eaten at the buffet that night!

Sport & Entertainment

Activities around the pool are good and you can get involved as much as you like. The beach has access to windsurfing and there is a speed boat doing water-skiing etc. The Aquarius diving center on site had closed down just before I arrived due to the hotel terminating their contract. Luckily there was a dive centre at next doors hotel.

Room

Select room had TV and DVD, bathrobe and slippers, Mini-bar non existent, aircon effective, safe in working order, kettle did not work and was not replaced when requested, although the jug of milk was left out on the side to go off. The room was kept clean and bedding changed daily. There was pollution from smoke from a fire outside of the hotels control and it appeared that plastic was being burnt. This made sitting out on some evenings unbearable!

Overall thoughts

This was the worst holiday we have had made worse by the fact that my wife got acute gastro-enteritis and spent much of the holiday trapped in the room on an IV drip. The rep and guest relations seemed to have no care and the only member of staff interested in her welfare was the room cleaner.

One of the best places in Egypt I have ever stayed, the hotel was stunning, the food was great, the staff were all friendly and polite.

The main town is about a 30 minute walk to the right of the hotel, this is much better than the newer town which was purpose built for the tourists. this is the real Egypt not the one that the egyptians think we want to see...

The new town was all that..NEW !!

it had no character at all and i could have been anywhere with its shopping malls and plaza's etc.

Stick to the right (the old town) you won't regret it.

On that note, it would never put me off..

I am actually booking to go back again in 2009 to the same hotel, i enjoyed it that much.

If you are a Diver this place is too good to be true with a Dive Centre on site and its own dock for the boats, which means you can have a light breakfast in the lower restaurant and then walk literally 20 yds onto your dive boat ready to go.

Am going with a mate from work on a Diving trip this time and i know he will be more than impressed by the hotel and its facilities.

Well where do you start? The Hotel, Staff, Cleaners ,Bar men, were absolutely fantastic nothing was too much trouble for them. We upgraded to a sea view superior room and it was well worth the little extra. It was a very large room with two enormous beds fridge tv and a huge balcony overlooking the lagoon. The balcony had a sun lounger and table and chairs. The room was cleaned every day, whith a change of towels daily, the sheets were changed every three days. The food was good, it did get a little bit monotonous after about 10 days. We broke it up by going to the A'La carte restaurant about five times during our two weeks. The hotel is now in need of some refurbishment, but this does not detract from the overall enjoyment. We booked a car and driver through the rep, we could have the car for 24 hours, all this for £13 english pounds. In fact we used the car to take a trip to El Gouna, wonderful. All in we would return to the Sunrise again.

I can't fault the hotel. Ive just returned from an amazing trip. The hotel; staff; facilities and food were all of top quality. You were well looked after - nothing too much for them. The cleanliness was great and the food was so impressive - they catered for everyone and the variety of food was extensive.

Hurgarda itself is worth a visit but there are so many tourist shops - well worth a visit to buy gifts then return to the lovely hotel.

Booking a few trips is worth it too - a boat trip to Giftun Island was idilic and enabled us to snorkel in aquariam like waters! Star gazing was also impressive and the quad bikes were fun although a bit bumpy.

I definately return and would reccommend this hotel to anyone!

Hi all,

To be honest I dont know where to start. This is my first review.

Sunrise Holidays Resort is absolutely amazing hotel with its services and location.

Rooms are very clean and most of them has beautifful red sea view. Staff is friendly and helpfull. If you tip them a little bit they will be yours:)) Dont need to tip a lot just 10 egyptians pounds (1 uk pound) every evening and you will be suprised how quick you can get your drinks.

Food is ok, and you can choose 3 different restaurants to eat. There is a disco in it aswell. Evening entertainment is a bit boring and it is more for russians then for anybody else. But overall very nice hotel with friendly staff and good service. I would recommend it to everybody.

This was our first couple holiday, so we wanted to go somewhere special. Sunrise holiday resort was excellent!

Every room had spectacular views overlooking the beach and open sea, our room wasn’t what we expected but was very clean and had everything you needed. But there was a lack of electrical plugs which made getting ready very hard.

The hotel was huge with shops and lots of restaurants inside the resort. Word of warning we bought a papyrus painting inside the hotel for 200 Egyptian pounds, cross the road outside and you will find them half the price!

There was a big buffet everyday which had a lot of variation of food but it stayed the same for lunch and dinner. After a few days of eating bread rolls with rice and fish, we stuck to the beach bar where pizzas and chips were available for a small price.

The waiters in the restaurant couldn’t be more helpful; they refill your glass before your finished and make you feel more than welcome.

The beach was fantastic always had sun loungers, bring your snorkel as the variety of coloured fish is amazing. The swimming pool was warm but the pool bar was not in use so they changed to a different bar. Mostly all of the other guests were German and Russian, with only 2 other people being English in the entire resort!

Day excursions seemed to be popular; representatives were everywhere bugging you everyday to go on them. Boat trip to coral reef is a must do. You go to 2 dive sites where u get off to snorkel then go to mahmaya island where it is so beautiful! And lunch on the boat for about £25 each. The weather was scorching factor 25 was not enough as I come back burnt, in the 40s every day!

Outside the resort was a bit scary we ventured out once and every car stopped to ask us if we wanted to smoke and have some of their tea! There is pubs and clubs around the resort but not close enough to see and didn’t fancy walking there at night!

The animation crew (entertainment) worked very hard; there was lots of water aerobics, polo, volleyball and other games during the day with discos and competitions at night.

Overall our first holiday here was superb I would come back but maybe go to a more built up area. I recommend this hotel for all ages. There was a lot of elderly groups and families, and we enjoyed at as a young couple! Don’t get put off from other reviews as everything is excellent.

Excellent Hotel. The staff were friendly and most helpful. The food delicious.

Rooms were cleaned every single day, and our House keeping man made us a novelty every day out of our bath and hand towels.

The Bar staff were my favourites. They could not do enough for us.

We felt safe walking out of the hotel at all times of the day and evening. The hotel is situated ideally.

If we turned left we had a 40 minute walk to a new Shopping complex called Sinbad, and if we turned right out of hotel we had miles and miles of shops, restaurants.

Our Rep, Jayne was super. She was around when she promised she would be and nothing was too much trouble for her.

We would definitely go back to this resort and are planning to do so in two years time.

We was very happy with the choice of hotels. It was our First wedding anniversary while we where in Hurghada and it was the best place to spent it.

Our room over looked the Lagoon and the hotel at night was very peaceful, loads of room and always cleaned perfectly every day.

The hotel was very clean and tidy, the pool was nice but we always stayed around the beach as my husband liked to snorkel. The staff where very friendly and helpful.

Our Rep Cheryl was very good and always around when you needed her, she was very polite and helpful and always had a smile on her face.

So overall a super holiday and hotel.

Sunrise Holidays Resort - loved it! The staff are great, cannot do enough for you - and they are really friendly. Even the animation team weren't as bad as I thought they were going to be - we laughed at the girl announcing all the activities of the day - often mocking herself with a dulcit 'vol-ley baaaaaall!' The breakfast of tea and pastries was a nice change, and then you can have burgers or kebabs for lunch - ha, I'm not sure what else was on offer, we stuck with that! Then dinner was an array of dishes, and interesting deserts, mainly cake-based. Yum!

I have to recommend that you get sun lotion and after sun lotion with insect repellent in it - the only two I have seen are by Avon, + Boots, which we used. It is non-deet, smells nice, and lasts. Unfortunately it was so nice laying in the sun after coming out of the beautiful clear water lagoon that leads to the Red Sea, we forgot to re-apply and got burnt very quickly! Didn't really get bitten by any mosquitoes, although I did manage to get bitten by a fish believe it or not. If you go the right hand side of the lagoon, there are some rocks, and many, many fish! You don't even need a snorkel - I just had swimming goggles. You can borrow snorkels and fins from the hotel, or go windsurfing for free, being all inclusive.

Other bonuses are yummy food - I tried so many things I wouldn't at home - and constant drinks on tap! The service you get from the staff is outstanding. The air conditioning in the rooms is perfect, though you could just leave the balcony doors open and take in the breeze and the stunning view - I thoroughly recommend waking up that little bit early to see the sun come up, equally beautiful is the sunset.

I have to say when I first arrived in Hurghada I was very taken aback with all the half finished buildings and was worried where we were going to stay! But when we arrived at the hotel I was pleasantly surprised it was beautiful more than I had expected, our room was lovely a view to die for.

It was good having a beach and a swimming pool I prefer the pool the sea is to salty, the animation team were great very entertaining, and our rep Jayne was very approachable and even helped us win the weekly pub quiz at Papas bar.

Overall it was one of the best holidays we have ever been on and we are booking for next year! I would recommend to anyone!

It was fantastic! What more can I say! The food was lovely! You had lots to choose from! The evening shows were the best. You couldn’t miss them. I loved the little animals that the cleaner would make out of towels then he would put them on your bed.

If you go you definitely need to go for 2 weeks, 1 week just is not enough. You couldn’t ask for better waiters. They were so nice and if they saw an empty glass they have no hesitation to fill it back up again!

Our representative was fantastic her name is Jayne. She was a big help! Overall this was a fantastic holiday and we are already hoping to go next year! Hope this has been a help to anybody!! x
