Sunrise Holidays Resort Reviews
" Good, But has its faults, "
Submitted By: bailey.6Caribbean, Med, India, and Egypt. and you have to compare what you have had previously
from other hotels and resorts, the first impressions as you enter the hotel is good,it
is when you have been there a few days that you realise that it is looking a bit tired, we booked a suite, but was given a large double room, after speaking to the Manager Yasser, who was very helpful, we were given a suite on the top floor, at 4am i had to go down to reception as we had not slept, the noise from the air con generator, on the roof was unbearable, we were given another suite on the 6th floor again very nice, the manager could not do enough for us,there were a few defects in the rooms we stayed in but nothing major, the bath panel fell of in one room, and the towel rail over the bath fell of twice in another room, but were fixed promptly, the air con broke down, and could not be fixed so we had to change rooms again,
the hotel is like a maze and does take a bit of getting used to,
the food in the el sol was good and varied, you can eat in the mediterranean al a carte,
but have to book the day before at no extra charge, very good but choice limited, would be good if they changed the menu on a weekly basis,
the things that need addressing are, hurghada is very hot, and you need to drink plenty of bottled water, and the beach and pool bars do not do cold bottled water, and send you into the hotel to get, you would think a 4/5* hotel would supply this,
on a Sunday we were lounging round the pool, when at 2pm we were all told to vacate this area as they wanted to get it ready for a BBQ, so this whole area is unavaiable to use sunday afternoons,
round the pool they use plastic glasses, which is a must, but there is no waiter service
at all during the day or evening, they collect the glasses, and pile them up in a sink by the bar, when you want a drink, the used glasses are given a quick swill under a tap and reused, not very hygienic, it is the only hotel we have stayed at where you are unable to get ice cream in a restruarnt, you are told the beach bar has it, but you ate given a lolly on a stick,if going with children ICE CREAM is a must.
be aware that if you see the doctor, it will cost you 160euros about £140 be warned.
i was ill for 6 days, and my wife 4 days,
also when we booked out, and settled our bill, they have a sign saying we accept visa/mastercard, but said they were unable to get through, but how handy to have a cash machine within 2 paces of there machine, so you can pay cash, and pay 3% for the privalage of doing so, and we were not the only ones told to settle with cash,
would we go back to this hotel, no, there are better in sharm, and the sultan gardens
that we stayed in last september we gave that a 9/10,we were also told they do not look at this website for comments only trip advisor
Advice: Hurghada 5 min walk to town, they will do their upmost to rip you off
Activities: go to the marina, and eat at the indian, ma~sa~la first class

" Fantastic Beach Holiday "
Submitted By: aliwThe rooms were adequitly furnished and any maintainence issues were quickly resolved.
Our only complaint was the beds were to hard for us. For the Brits they gave you tea making facilities to have in the room. There were plenty of sun beds for every body - so not even the Germans got up at 5am to put the towels out. Towels provded of course.
We stayed on an all inclusive basis and it was. You could drink alcohol or anything else for 24 hours aday.
The staff made this a very special holiday for my husbands 60th birthday.
" Fantastic "
Submitted By: sbroadrecommend this hotel to anyone who likes the quieter holiday. There is a brand new town built down the road which costs about £3.00 by taxi but get the bell boys to order it or make sure of the price before getting in the cab (make sure the charge is for everybody not each)they don't hassle you down there you can wander round some big shops. .The lagoon is brilliant to swim in and the fish are swimming all around you,The one thing I will say is be very careful if you go outside the safety of the lagoon under the bridge as the current is stronger than you think as i found out and had to be pulled in by the life guard(Thank you again Ahmed). Can't fault it at all and can't wait to get back there.

Submitted By: hollycatTHE FOOD WAS GOOD AND THERE WAS ALWAYS A GOOD VARIETY. I AM VEGETARIAN BUT ALWAYS FOUND PLENTY I COULD EAT. WE ATE A COUPLE OF TIMES IN THE ARABIAM RESTUARANT WHICH DIDN'T SEEM TO BE POPULAR. I THOUGHT IT WAS GREAT AND THE FOOD WAS VERY NICE. WE CELEBRATED OUR WEDDING ANNIVERSARY HERE AND WAS SPOILT WITH MUSIC(DRUMS) AND DANCING AND A CAKE WHICH WE WERE TOO FULL TO EAT. THE REST OF THE TIME WE ATE IN THE AIDA WHERE THE STAFF WERE ALL VERY FRIENDLY AND EFFECIENT.
THE ANIMATIONS TEAM TRIED HARD TIO GET EVERYONE TO JOIN IN THE GAMES IN THE DAYTIME BUT WE DIDN'T SO CAN'T COMMENT. THE BEACH AREA WAS VERY CLEAN AND THE LAGOON WAS LOVELY. IT WAS NICE TO HAVE THE BEACH BAR WHERE YOU COULD JUST GO AND HELP YOURSELF TO COLD SOFT DRINKS.
I SUPPOSE THE EVENING ENTERTAINMENT WASN'T FANTASTIC BUT WE ENJOYED ACHMED THE SINGER IN THE LOBBY BAR WHO LET MY HUSBAND JOIN IN AND HAVE A SING.
THE RECEPTION STAFF WERE HEKPFUL AND ANY PROBLEMS WERE SOON DEAL WITH.
THERE WERE SHOPS WITHIN THE HOTEL WHICH DID SEEM TO STOCK SOME NICE STUFF BUT NO FIXED PRICES AND IT WAS EASY TO GET RIPPED OFF. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE IF THE PRICES WITHIN THE HOTEL WERE FIXED.
OUTSIDE OF THE HOTEL THE SHOPPING EXPERIENCE IS A NIGHTMARE UNLESS YOU LIKE HAGGLING AND BEING HARASSED THE WHOLE TIME.
THE TRIPS SEEMED TO BE GOOD. WE DID THE FLIGHT TO CAIRO WHICH WAS A FANTASTIC DAY THOUGH WE HADA VERY EARLY START.
WE ALSO DI THE YELLOW SUBMARINE WHICH WAS A GOOD EXPERIENCE TO GO ON A PROPER SUB.
ALSO DID THE STARGAZING IN THE DESERT WHICH WAS NOT SO GOOD. THE 4X4 HAD REALLY UNCOMFORTABLE BENCH SEATS IN THE BACK.
MY HUSBAND DID THE DIVING FROM THE HOTEL DIVING CENTRE AND HE THOUROUGHLY ENJOYED IT AND SAID THE STAFF WERE VERY GOOD.
THE ROOMS WERE KEPT VERY CLEAN AND THE TOWEL CREATIONS WERE VERY AMUSING. THE AIR CONDITIONING IN THE ROOM WAS VERY GOOD BUT IN THE REST OF THE HOTEL IT WASN'T WORKING AND IT WAS A BIT HOT AND UNCOMFORTABLE SOMETIMES.
IT WAS NICE TO HAVE THE SAFE DEPOSIT BOS IN THE ROOM AND ALSO TO FIND THAT THERE WAS A KETTLE THERE. SOEM TEA-BAGS, SUGAR AND COFFEE WERE PROVIDED WHICH YOU COULD TOP UP FROM THE RESTUARANTS BUT NO MILK AVAILABLE.
ALL IN ALL A BRILLIANT HOLIDAY AND I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL.

The hotel is merely 20 mins from the airport and sits under the flight path to the airport, great if you are a plane spotter, however it did not cause any problem. The hotel has its own beach which is safe and clean but is manmade and as such the sand is very coarse. There is a new shopping centre directly opposite the hotel.
Service
The staff are very attentive and friendly, your children will not be ignored whilst at the bar. Ismail from the pool bar has a constant wide smile and works very hard all day and night
Food
The hotel has three restaurants. The buffet which serves a wide range of tasty dishes but unfortunately always luke warm unless it is cooked in front of you. The beach restaurant serving pizza, burgers, hotdogs etc was very good. The a-la-carte was hugely disappointing and we wished we had eaten at the buffet that night!
Sport & Entertainment
Activities around the pool are good and you can get involved as much as you like. The beach has access to windsurfing and there is a speed boat doing water-skiing etc. The Aquarius diving center on site had closed down just before I arrived due to the hotel terminating their contract. Luckily there was a dive centre at next doors hotel.
Room
Select room had TV and DVD, bathrobe and slippers, Mini-bar non existent, aircon effective, safe in working order, kettle did not work and was not replaced when requested, although the jug of milk was left out on the side to go off. The room was kept clean and bedding changed daily. There was pollution from smoke from a fire outside of the hotels control and it appeared that plastic was being burnt. This made sitting out on some evenings unbearable!
Overall thoughts
This was the worst holiday we have had made worse by the fact that my wife got acute gastro-enteritis and spent much of the holiday trapped in the room on an IV drip. The rep and guest relations seemed to have no care and the only member of staff interested in her welfare was the room cleaner.
" One of the best places in Egypt I... "
Submitted By: Mr D JewsonThe main town is about a 30 minute walk to the right of the hotel, this is much better than the newer town which was purpose built for the tourists. this is the real Egypt not the one that the egyptians think we want to see...
The new town was all that..NEW !!
it had no character at all and i could have been anywhere with its shopping malls and plaza's etc.
Stick to the right (the old town) you won't regret it.
On that note, it would never put me off..
I am actually booking to go back again in 2009 to the same hotel, i enjoyed it that much.
If you are a Diver this place is too good to be true with a Dive Centre on site and its own dock for the boats, which means you can have a light breakfast in the lower restaurant and then walk literally 20 yds onto your dive boat ready to go.
Am going with a mate from work on a Diving trip this time and i know he will be more than impressed by the hotel and its facilities.

Submitted By: Miss DM LawrenceHurgarda itself is worth a visit but there are so many tourist shops - well worth a visit to buy gifts then return to the lovely hotel.
Booking a few trips is worth it too - a boat trip to Giftun Island was idilic and enabled us to snorkel in aquariam like waters! Star gazing was also impressive and the quad bikes were fun although a bit bumpy.
I definately return and would reccommend this hotel to anyone!
" Hi all,
To be honest I... "
To be honest I dont know where to start. This is my first review.
Sunrise Holidays Resort is absolutely amazing hotel with its services and location.
Rooms are very clean and most of them has beautifful red sea view. Staff is friendly and helpfull. If you tip them a little bit they will be yours:)) Dont need to tip a lot just 10 egyptians pounds (1 uk pound) every evening and you will be suprised how quick you can get your drinks.
Food is ok, and you can choose 3 different restaurants to eat. There is a disco in it aswell. Evening entertainment is a bit boring and it is more for russians then for anybody else. But overall very nice hotel with friendly staff and good service. I would recommend it to everybody.

Submitted By: Miss AD DykesEvery room had spectacular views overlooking the beach and open sea, our room wasn’t what we expected but was very clean and had everything you needed. But there was a lack of electrical plugs which made getting ready very hard.
The hotel was huge with shops and lots of restaurants inside the resort. Word of warning we bought a papyrus painting inside the hotel for 200 Egyptian pounds, cross the road outside and you will find them half the price!
There was a big buffet everyday which had a lot of variation of food but it stayed the same for lunch and dinner. After a few days of eating bread rolls with rice and fish, we stuck to the beach bar where pizzas and chips were available for a small price.
The waiters in the restaurant couldn’t be more helpful; they refill your glass before your finished and make you feel more than welcome.
The beach was fantastic always had sun loungers, bring your snorkel as the variety of coloured fish is amazing. The swimming pool was warm but the pool bar was not in use so they changed to a different bar. Mostly all of the other guests were German and Russian, with only 2 other people being English in the entire resort!
Day excursions seemed to be popular; representatives were everywhere bugging you everyday to go on them. Boat trip to coral reef is a must do. You go to 2 dive sites where u get off to snorkel then go to mahmaya island where it is so beautiful! And lunch on the boat for about £25 each. The weather was scorching factor 25 was not enough as I come back burnt, in the 40s every day!
Outside the resort was a bit scary we ventured out once and every car stopped to ask us if we wanted to smoke and have some of their tea! There is pubs and clubs around the resort but not close enough to see and didn’t fancy walking there at night!
The animation crew (entertainment) worked very hard; there was lots of water aerobics, polo, volleyball and other games during the day with discos and competitions at night.
Overall our first holiday here was superb I would come back but maybe go to a more built up area. I recommend this hotel for all ages. There was a lot of elderly groups and families, and we enjoyed at as a young couple! Don’t get put off from other reviews as everything is excellent.

When you arrive at the Hotel you are provided with a Welcome drink and a member of Staff takes your suitcases and shows you to your room .
We did have a very spacious, clean room (on the 6th Floor) which had two doubles beds, three chairs,tv,fridge, plenty of wardrobe space(not many hangers) which also had extra pillows. Also a safe and air conditioning which is included in your holiday price.
During our stay fresh towels were delivered every day as well as bottled water.Thank you Hommad- mini bar manager 6th floor.
On the two ocassions that I have stayed at this Hotel if there is a problem or you do need something Staff will do there upmost to assist. We also received a follow up call from Reception.
On the 2nd floor you will find the Bank if you need to convert currencey.Open approx 9 am to Midday and also in the evening.
There are several Restaraunts to eat at- The Beach bar as been extended since our last visit -I did enjoy an excellent pizza. They also do Burgers there.
We did tend to eat at El Sol- Breakfast- Cereral, toast, eggs, cheese, ham, fruit, yoguart,a selction of rolls, bread, cakes, juice and plenty of coffee and various types of tea.
Lunch and Dinner-Soup, Salad, pasta, rice, potatos, chips, meats( a delious Beef Wellington on one of the evenings) ,fish,Bread and rolls,friut,cakes- plenty of choices.
Bottled water, tea and coffee are available through out the day.
I did think the food has improved since our last visit .Thank you Sayed, short and Tall Mohammed and of course a big thank you to Moustafa (do not forget your children's chocolate) for looking after my family and myself. Also the pool bar staff and Mr Shisha pipe. All the staff do work very long hours and days but still manage to provide excellent customer service.
Yes the Hotel is not new and some rooms may need decorating, towels maybe old but are clean but would rather The Sunrise than a new hotel with unclean items, terrible food and unfriendly staff.
The animation team also worked extremely hard to provide some excellent shows in the evening besides looking after guest during the day- Thank you Sherif(Do not forget to buy Kenzo perfume),Tyson,Chiko,Svetlana and the rest of the girls
The Swimming pool is tested every day and one afternoon it was closed off for a few hours to be treated. Also when you come from the beach there is a water tap for your feet.
When you arrive at Hurghada Airport you can purchase your Visa- On both occassion I used USA Dollars-this time 18 Dollars Each person.
The pavement area when you turn right from outside the Hotel has greatly improved since our last visit. There is a good little Supermarket on the same side as the Hotel.
Accross the road from the Supermarket is a good Chemist. We were informed before that it is best to get tablets for your upset stomach in the Country you have travelled to so I got them the day after we arrived just incase. They cost approx 5 Egyptain pounds for 12 tablets.
Taxis are reasonable but do agree a price before you get in.
The Mariner and also Sinebads are worth a visit for those of you who like shopping.
Also my family have twice done the Quad Safari and really enjoyed the trip.
