5 Star Luxury you wont find anywhere else on the Keys
from MNonthefly
My girlfriend and I spent 3 nights at Cheeca in early January 2010 and can't wait to go back--and we were there in the midst of a cold front the south had not seen in nearly 20 years! This place is hands down, without a doubt, the premier luxury resort on the Florida Keys--just ask the locals. I sat at the Tiki bar on Sunday afternoon and locals poured in to check out the new digs (as Cheeca had only been reopened for 17 days). Every single one of them agreed that Cheeca has the best the Keys have to offer in every imaginable...

The new Cheeca is better than ever!
from sasyskibum
Cheeca is even more amazing than before the fire. The grounds are gorgeous, and the new lodge exceeds all expectations. Everything from the details of the decor to the building as a whole is perfect. The beach looks great. I had the opportunity to go out on the snorkeling trip, and the staff from check-in through the entire trip was knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and enthusiastic! We spent over two hours at two different locations on the nearby reef. I also spent a great deal of time at both pools, which was great to be able to be...

A very special place to stay...

We have just returned from our 3rd vacation at this fabulous hotel and feel that there is nowhere quite like Cheeca in the world. The setting is fabulous, the amenities are world class and nothing is too much trouble for the wonderful staff.
Perfect Resort for me
from JetSetGirlwithatwist
When we arrived at Cheeca I was amazed to see how beautiful the grounds were, even more beautiful than before the fire. Check-in was a breeze with complimentary champagne when we checked in. We arrived early and our room was not yet ready at 11:00 am, so we went to Nikai for lunch. Nikai’s sushi menu was diverse and interesting. For example the escolar carpaccio was unbelievable in presentation and taste. I found the sushi here to be one of the best I have ever tasted. We went to our room in the newly rebuilt main lodge, which was...

If you're not ready, don't open for business
from MiamiWorldwanderer
We just got back from staying at Cheeca for New Years Weekend. My husband and I had stayed with them before and were excited to return, this time with our children and out of town family. What a fiasco!!!!! From check-in through check-out, bad experiences abounded! As one of the other guests put it: we had to make an effort in order to get services. When I checked in at 3:30PM I was told room was ready but check in was "at 4PM sharp" so you have to wait". We asked for a 2 bedroom suite (room 724 and 725). Both rooms had broken...

Charmless Cheeca. Despite beautiful view, not worth the price
from vermillion63
The impressive, well landscaped entrance hides an overall lack of quality management, standard lodging systems and procedures that, collectively, manifests itself in universally, poor service. At approximately $1K per night including meals (but not including airfare) for a very comfortable ocean front unit, the cost is overreaching given the terrible service throughout the resort. The historical charm that once was once unique has been replaced by a faux Tommy Bahama-like replacement run by toddlers with a new shiny toy.. The main...

Cheeca is Weaka!!
from Sp0rtsDad
Cheeca is Not Ready For Prime Time! Much of the resort is still finishing recent renovations--- there are workmen and construction equipment still in many areas. The service is very poor + at times comical (they have no clue how to run a resort hotel)---particularly considering the type of resort this is supposed to be + how overpriced the rooms are. We checked out on 12/30 after staying 3 nights at Cheeca Lodge. We had 2 rooms both in the new building--- one oceanfront and the other "resort" view. While very overpriced, the oceanfront room...

Bait and Switch- Avoid this Hotel and its unethical sales Manager
from jenniparks76
On December 17th, after a friend of mine who visited the Keys and this resort and raved about the property, I visited their website to look into booking a trip for myself. I run a non-profit travel group (one of the largest in Northern Virginia) in my spare time and am often on the lookout for amazing properties for our group to visit. I booked a weekend stay for myself and husband, along with our group’s assistant organizers to get a feel for the property. The stay weekend was Jan 22nd-24th. I was happy to see that they were undergoing a...

Great resort, awful service
from NJD1_7
We just returned from an Xmas stay at the newly reopened Cheeca. They've done a great job with the new lodge, restaurants and beach area. The family pool, spa and dock are great amenities. We stayed in one of the older rooms, as despite being called 'suites' the lodge rooms don't have a partioned area where you can sleep an infant in a crib. The room we had in the lagoon area was nice enough, and was apparently upgraded pre-fire. The furnishings were dark wood with a bit of a gloomy feel. I would happily have traded some of the huge marble...

Great spot but there are things you need to know
from sarjonis
The first thing one needs to know prior to booking is that if you are not looking for that "OldFlorida" feel then definitely book in the main lodge area that just re-opened. The rooms are very nice and in my opinion far superior to the rest of the resort. We had originally been talked into what they describe as a room "renovated within the last few years" but when we went and took a look at it the room and the building just don't compare to the new lodge but I a sure there are many travelers that have stayed in those other rooms for years...
