Disneys Polynesian Resort Hotel

Overall, our stay at the Polynesian was pretty good. However, their concierge staff is clueless! First, a 45 minute long 'express check-in' isn't a great way to start off a stay. Our 'cast member' checking us in said she had been there for years, but was unable to answer any questions, and when she did try to find an answer, 'everyone was at lunch.' My family (me, wife, 2 daughters) stayed at the Disney Polynesian Resort for 6 nights in June, 2003. This is a Disney deluxe resort. My previous Disney experience was at the Caribbean Beach resort (a moderate resort). I was expecting a notch above Caribbean Beach in atmosphere, service, etc. I was disappointed. This is the 5th time we visited this resort. Unfortunately, with each visit we have found service has deteroriated. The housekeeping is the worst! Upon check-in the room was dirty, crumbs on the floor and junk under the bed and the bathroom floor was unclean. Springs on the bed were old and the mattress felt awful. We switched to another room, in another longhouse that was not much better. Things we have noticed ... newspaper delivery was spotty ..only left one morning. We loved this resort. Had adjoining rooms in the Rapa Nui building. Excellent food, beautiful rooms, excellent service. Kids loved the new Volcano pool. Rapa Nui was great to stay in because it is right next to Transportation and Ticket Center. Best resort to stay in near Magic Kingdom.

Beautiful hotel!! What a great place to work at. I have read the different reviews and found truth in some of them and exageration in others. Yes there is room for improvement but I can tell that the staff is great we are truly an ohana (family). We do our best to fill all request, but we are not perfect I can assure you that the Polynesian is not only Romantic, it is fun and lay back, convenient and culturally rich. Stayed at the Polynesian April 28-May3 and had a GREAT time! Traveled with 9 mth and 2 yr old. Front desk/staff was always very friendly. Stayed at the Hawaii Bldg which is Concierge service and if you can spring for it - it is definately worth every penny! The convenience of having continental breakfast, snacks in mid-afternoon, appetizers and wine in early evening and dessert and cordials in the late evening (with plenty of juices/water/coffee/fresh fruit all day) make a big difference and save on the hassle of having to purchase bottled... more

I would have to say the Polynesian was the best resort I have ever stayed at! When we got there, there were all sorts of goodies in our room, champagne, roses, chocolates, etc. We booked a "Fairytale Honeymoon" and I guess that just added to the already great hotel atmosphere. $504 per night doesn't get you much! They wouldn't give us the AAA discount because we didn't make reservations in advance. The food wasn't worth the price. At the cheap hotels at least you get coffee, sometimes even a fridge and micro. Which is nice when you have kids. It is beautiful but anyone can walk through and see that for free. The laundry room was a mile away and they wouldn't let us use a cart. Half of the games in the games room don't work or steal your money but who wants to walk a mile to get your quarter back?

My whole family loved the resort. We had a very nice large spotless room at the resort. We stayed February 24-28th. Our children Loved Ohana's character breakfast. The food was outstanding and everyone was so friendly! Loved looking around the little shops at the resort. Very easy access to all the parks. My children could not get enough of the volcano pool! Had a great experience would stay there again and tell others to also!

It started with us arriving at 2 pm. Kept being told by the front desk that our room would be ready soon. By 4:30 PM, we were given a room after asking for a manager and a massive headache from the ongoing racket of cascading water in the lobby. We were given a room in the "Fiji" building on a Monday night. On Tuesday night we were "treated" to the screams,bongo banging and loud singing from 6PM up till around 11PM.
