We departed the UK the last week of May for 8 Nights stay at the Disney Grand Floridian Resort and Spa in Orlando. These dates were the start of Orlando's school summer holidays. The longest waiting time for park rides in Disney resorts for us was 30 minutes, but without... more

Booked into the Grand Floridian, could not have asked for more. Being greeted at the entrance to the Hotel, our car parked, and we where taken straight upstairs to concierge. Politeness is not a thing of the past at the Grand Floridian in fact it is alive and kicking. We... more

Elegant Fun
For our first experience at Disney, this hotel was wonderful. The cast members were friendly, helpful and the property was clean and well organized it was easy to get where you wanted to go. Rooms were beautiful. The food and drinks on property were great. Over all a great experience. Would do it again.
Interesting Visit
I stayed at the Grand Floridian to attend a conference that included sessions about how Disney manages to excel in customer service. Here's the interesting part. The rooms and grounds at the hotel were lovely. But the service was average or less. I checked in and got general directions to my room. Some of the things I needed and reserved for in my room were not there. I called the desk. They told me they would take care of it and advised me to have a Magical Evening. Four hours later nothing changed, so I called housekeeping direct. They responded in a couple of hours. The night before check-out I stopped at the Bell Captain's desk to inquire about getting a cab or town car at 6 AM. He said I should check with the front desk. I checked with the front desk and they advised me to go to the Bell Captain or maybe outside where the Bellboys are? Having been turfed around for 15 minutes I finally gave up and called a private transport service. Gee, it's great to be back home again.
Loved It!
Quite Impressive - wonderful service, beautiful and clean accommodations, well-manicured landscaping. A relaxed atmosphere that is hard to leave. Plus the location is ideal-next door to Magic Kingdom and on the water. A great place to watch fireworks! Hard-pressed to think of a negative. We definitely recommend this resort. We'll hopefully return some day.
Fantastic!
From the moment our luggage was removed from the limo 'til the time it was loaded up ... our stay at the Grand Floridian was fantastic! The grounds were kept up perfectly, the pools were always well tended to, the concierges were friendly, professional and very attentive. The Grand Floridian is "on" the monorail, so a trip to the Magic Kingdom is usually 5 minutes away. (or less, if a tram is loading as you walk up) Our room was very nice. It wasn't "huge", but who wants to stay in their room at DisneyWorld?? The beds were of high quality...nice and firm. Everything in the room was fabulous (except our iron quit, but was replaced very quickly!) We stayed in the Sugar Loaf building, which is a privately-accessed concierge-attended building. The "snacks" were wonderful. So much so that we didn't have to spend as much money on food as we had planned! There is a boat that launches from the Magic Kingdom that goes directly to the Grand Floridian, so if one times it right you can get back faster than on the monorail. (and the kids will love the extra "water ride.") All-in-all, this was a far better trip than we expected. It would take a lot to impress us after our stay at the Grand Floridian!
Reservations don't mean a thing!
My husband and I, and another couple decided to celebrate our anniversaries at the Grand Flo. We have stayed there before and loved it, but this time after our stay this time, I don,t know if I will go back. We made our reservations eight months in advance with both couples saving up for, booking and paying extra for tower rooms. We were even bumped up to the concierge level so we could have the tower rooms. Great! We were so excited from the adults down to the children. This was to be special. We even spoke to the hotel two weeks before our arrival just to make sure, and were told yes we had tower rooms. When we arrive, we were told by a rude concierge that those rooms were not available. We produced proof of our booking and were told that those rooms are only requested, there is no guarantee that you will get them and to quote him directly "our chances of getting a tower room was the same as a chicken having teeth" We asked why they say you can book them for an extra fee, why do they allow you to book them and pay the extra fee, why we were told that we had them, and that we had paid extra for the rooms. He then repeated his answer and them proceeded to blamed our travel agent. We told him that we spoke with Disney travel and the hotel two weeks before to make sure that we had the correct rooms and were told that we did. He would not even look us in the eye, and continued to blame everyone else for the problem. We ended up cramed into two standard rooms right next to a very noisy lobby full of screaming kids who would empty the food tables before anyone else had a chance. We are not againsed children, we had some with us. (Just againsed rude noisy unsupervised ones with oblivious parents) We never did get a refund for the difference between a standard and a tower room. The moral here, don't trust reservations and have all kinds of proof not that it will do you any good.
Grand Floridian-The BEST resort in the world!!!
I have stayed at the Grand Floridian twice. And I love every moment I am in that hotel. I just got back from my trip to Disney World on the 29th of Sept. Me and my fiance went from the 19th-29th. It was his 1st time in Disney World and I will never forget the expreation on his face when he first walked into the lobby of the resort. It was defiantly price less! He loved it just as much as I loved it! Yes it is expensive-making the most expesnive resort to stay at in Disney World, but its really woth every penny! As a AAA member I did save. For 2 adults, 9 nights/10 days hotel stay, round trip airline tickets, shuttle service to and from the airport and hotel, food (ate at expensive restraunts all the time), suverinors (and we got tons-we spent well over $500 on them) and park hopper tickets it only cost $5,000.00. If I booked it through Disney, it would of cost well over $6,000.00. So I highly recommend that no matter where you stay at-go through AAA. You will save at least $500.00. Me and my fiance are going back to Disney World and staying at the Grand Floridian once again for our honey moon next Aug. 2004 and we are looking forward to every moment once again! If I could I would give this resort unlimited stars!
Loved the hotel, hated the other occupants
The Floridian was a gorgeous hotel, and the staff was wonderful. However, my husband and I were on our honeymoon, and although we had a beautiful room and a wonderful view of the lagoon and Cinderella's castle, we were in a room next door to the most horrible children and their horrible parents, who spend 4 days shouting at each other (the walls of the hotel are too thin). We asked for a different room, but were told that none were available (in the off season???). It's a great hotel, but be prepared to be inundated with screaming toddlers and small children and their absent-minded parents. This hotel is pricy, but people bring their little ones anyway. The pool was very nice, but don't expect relaxation. No one keeps their children in line here. Bottom line: upon check-in, INSIST UPON A ROOM AWAY FROM FAMILIES WITH SMALL CHILDREN!!!
Fantastic September at the Grand...
We stayed at the Grand from Sep 4-8, 2003. Had a wonderful time. The hotel pictures do not do this property justice. As my sister put it, it makes you seem you are on your own private island. From the luxurious lagoon rooms with a view of the Castle to the beach everything was very above average. The other hotel guests couldn't have been nicer. The staff always went above and beyond the call of duty. This is a hotel I would definately recommend for future Disney stays in Florida. I have never in my life seen a larger pool or jacuzzi at a hotel. We watched the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom right from our balcony. We also watched the nightly Electric Water Pagent from our balcony as well. The food is excellent. Thanks to all of the staff at the Grand Floridian for making this vacation a once in a lifetime event. We will be back!
Phenomenal honeymoon!!!
We stayed here for our honeymoon in August 2002 and had an incredible time. This hotel is worth every penny - it's truly magical. There's nothing like sitting on the beach, watching the fireworks all alone! Amazing staff, very attentive and helpful. The lobby is gorgeous and the entire grounds are just wonderful. Once you've stayed here, you won't be able to stay anywhere else in Orlando!!!
Haeted the spa!
Last year In October I decided to treat myself to the spa at the Grand Floridian. What a mistake! First of all when I got there and checked in thay had my first name wrong, I corrected them. Then as I was waiting a woman came in and spoke with someone about how her and her husband were to have spa treatments together, well the staff totally screwed up from what I heard because there was no time available for her husband! She was very upset. I sat there thinking, "Oh no what am I doing here"? Anyway I was shown the locker room etc. So I changed, and sat and sat and sat until finally a woman came in an called out Dena, everyone looked at each other and I said" My name is Tina". She said no I said Dena, again everyone looked at each other. Then she tried to say the last name, i knew it was me and tried to tell her my name was Tina, not Dena. She finally gave up and said ok come with me. OOh! when I got into the room she called me Dena again!! I didn't even correct her at this point. Well then she proceded to talk through the entire massage and facial! I felt like telling her to shut up and let me enjoy this! Finally i was to have a pedicure, well the room was about the size of my powder room at my house, and not very "spa"like. I felt like I was being rushed out of there I don't think my pedicure lasted 30 minutes! Finally ready to check out. Well again the person at the front desk called me Dena I just smiled. I couldn't beleive what I was about to pay for these "ok" services. I was not relaxed at all, I felt more stressed out than when I got there! There were 2 young girls at the front desk also wanting to know when they were getting their pedicures, the woman told them that they didn't know they had pedicures scheduled! ( mind you these girls were there when I first got there, they were waiting for like an hour) They told them they didn't have any openings and that was that! How rude, why didn't someone ask them what they were waiting for after about 15 minutes of waiting?? I sent a complaint directly to the spa when I came home and received no response back! Not even a"I'm sorry" nothing! I will never go back or reccommend the "spa" at the Grand Floridian to anyone! this is no way to run a business. I should have known it was going to go down hill as soon as they repeadily said my name wrong! Don't go there.
