Charming 'oldie world' hotel in an excellent location.
The main shopping area is yards from the hotel and most of the Boston's main attractions are within easy walking distance.
Rooms are small, and a little bit shabby, but very clean and have everything you need.
All of the staff we met during our stay were very friendly and helpful.

Old hotel in excellent location - all tourist interests very close at hand.
Small bedrooms in hotel but not too bad in on floor 10 or above.
Thoroughly enjoyable stay.

The one word version ...Fab!
Now for the many words. On arrival were greeted by door staff that were helpful maybe a little too helpful though but certainly not overbearing. Reception staff very helpful and friendly whilst I was checking in my wife was checking out the decor very nice she said.
Now up to the rooms. Well not too brilliant here but was ok nothing to moan about really but unfortunately outside the restoration was underway so part of the view was shaded by the scaffolding and secure netting. But all the same the room was comfortable and warm needed to be after coming in out that big snow storm so we were soon warmed up.
The bed was a large king size that was very comfy and the room had all the normal amenities coffee but no tea for us English so pack some and take some with you is my advice when travelling.
Back down after warming up I checked out the bar for a drink or two and a light meal. This really was a nice hotel soon warming to it and appreciating its charming decor which included many a Waterford crystal chandelier. The service was good friendly and very helpful.
Through the weekend we tried all the facilities except the large well stocked fitness gym.
Nothing was to disappoint us. The breakfast was good with a choice of buffet or a la carte style reasonably priced and was nice. Dinner now that was a treat really good food with pleasant helpful staff, food wonderful too do not pass on the opportunity to eat here it is reasonably priced to for us Brits.
Much history has passed through here JFK, Jackie Kennedy actually its reputed he proposed here. Malcolm X worked the door and we were told Charles Dickens resided here during his time in the USA.
This is in fact the oldest continually running hotel in the USA.
The local area includes many of the top stores including Macy's, TK Makks and Fenilles Basement so many a shopping bargain can be had here too.
There is also many a historical place of interest to visit, city hall now a top restaurant across the road, Old Mission hall, state hall and many other museum all a very short walk.
Cheers Bar across the city park that has the ice skating going on right now in the outside rink, across the park too you will find the current state house.
So yes it’s worth a stay I and my party fully enjoyed it and the complimentary hot apple cider in the afternoon.
Please if you visit Boston this must be the place to stay, if you know better let me know.
