this hotel was very good .food was everything you could ask for. the only thing we found was wrong that the safe deposit box was on the floor and you had to get down on your knee to open @close it.

Firstly, I would like to say take all reviews as a guideline only, but I do try to right honest reviews each time, and believe me I would be the first to complain if something wasn’t right! My husband couldn’t believe it when I didn’t have something to complain about... more

Perfect holiday hotel
I booked the hotel based on the strength of the positive reviews received on here and was not disappointed. We booked 6 months prior to going and requested a high room overlooking the pool and received exactly that with a huge balcony with room for two sunloungers as well as table and chairs. May be worth considering doing that if you want to sunbathe outside your room. The food was quite simply outstanding. Excellent quality produced, well cooked, well stocked buffets and also exceptionally accomodating for different diets (we are vegetarians and they cooked main meals - pizza, lasagne etc. esp for us each night when we asked). Other great things about the hotel: * Location - away from hussle and bussle but only 10 mins walk on flat into the town and beach * Bar prices - 2 euros 40 for a pint of beer and 6 euros 60 for bottle of house wine. Also a happy hour between 8 and 9 which includes buy 1 get 1 free on beer, wine, cocktails and soft drinks * Entertainment - Brilliant for kids, brilliant for adults. All in all, a perfect holiday in a great hotel with great staff.
Absolutely Fabulous!!
This is the best hotel I have ever been to. There is no way it was just a three star - more like a 5 star. The food was amazing and I am a really fussy vegetarian. The cava with breakfast was most enjoyable. I was there with my mum and two sons (one a teenager) and there was plenty for us all to do, both during the day and night. The staff were all very friendly and could not do enough for us and were happy to order taxis etc. Port Aventura was excellent and my mum particularly enjoyed the shows and the kids enjoyed the rides. It was very good value for money and we will definitely be back.
brilliant staff and hotel
polite and friendly bar and reception staff, loved our stay at the golden port salou. amazing food in the resteraunt. lovely bar staff, who even delayed the daily cocktail for us, cause we wouldn't be there on the day that tequila sunrise was meant to be on happy hour, so they did it they day afterwards. planning a trip back next year. salou itself is very commercialised, but we're thinking of taking my boyfriend's 14 year old borther, so it would be perfect for him. beautiful beaches, wonderful hotel, lovely staff. would recomment to anyone!
Overall Excellent holiday
just home from a 2 week stay at the Golden Port and had a great relaxing holiday. The food was very good , the service of both bar and restaurant excellent.Whilst we were there the hotel received its fourth star . I can truthfully say it deserved it. We have stayed in many hotels over the years in Europe and been in four star hotels which didnt all live up to their reputation, but the Golden Port does. I believe that the main asset to the hotel was the entertainment staff Israel, Isobel and Nathen who were exceptional with both adults and children alike.Their entertainment programme was varied and they were always on hand ,they are talented people and i must say to Nathans mum you would be very proud of your son if you saw him in his chosen line of work.
Amazing holiday
From the minute we arrived to the minute we left, we were pampered. Also with it being summer, my 3 teenage sons had lots to do. It is about 600m off the beach, and very near to local shops. The staff made you feel really welcome, I loved every minute.
Golden Oldie Salou
The hotel was nice, albeit a building site right across from front of hotel, make sure you get a pool view! We asked for a change of room almost straight away but they said it was full and couldnt do anything, (although we heard another couple did the same and got a shift of room) However the food was excellent went half board and breakfast was enough to keep you going until your evening meal. The pool was freezing took almost a week to aclimatise to staying in for more that 2 minutes. Activities for kids and it was more difficult to get a sunbed as the week progressed, the towel fairies were out in force and bagging all the beds! Many guests in their aged years which was fine for a quiet holiday but if your looking for a lively time then perhaps not here. Again we werent peak season so perhaps the clientele change in high season. Don't book a transfer the airport is really near and took all of 10mins from door to door, can get a taxi cheaper than paying your tour operator. All in all a good week, close to everything, rooms fine (apart from the building site)! Went to Barcelona on the train for the day, also cheaper and quicker than booking with the organised trips. Ask for a ticket to the second station in Barcelona, we got off at the first stop (Barcelona Sants a think it was called) and we had to get the metro into the centre.
another fab time in salou
we have just come back from two weeks in salou at the golden port salou, it was our second time here and once again we thoroughly enjoyed it in fact we had a better time. the rooms had been redocorated with new showers and there were new sunbeds. the food was also just as good as i remember with themed events such as chinese night where they had noodles, prawn crackers, spring rolls, rice, etc whilst still having plain things to eat aswell. another bonus is that it isn`t that far from the beach and in the evening it makes a nice walk. we also think salou as a resort is great in itself with a lovely beach, lots of pubs/restaurants and things to do eg port aventura and barcelona.
Amazing hotel!!!!!********
I stayed at this hotel in August last year (2006) along with my boyfriend. As a young couple, we would highly reccommend this hotel. I could not fault the hotel, it was in a great location, just a 5 min walk to the promanade where all the main shops are and very close to bars, restaurants and the beach! The staff are all very helpful and speak good english. The rooms are lovely, spacious and clean! the maid visited as often as u liked! One of the best things about this hotel though is the Food! we always looked forward to breakfast and dinner as there was always new dishes and plenty of choice and the food really is yummy!! The pool area is kept very clean and entertainment is on through the day and nighttime, which is great for families and kids. Being a young couple, we preffered to venture out at night and there was plenty of choice of bars and things to do around the hotel area. If you havent been to salou before i would really reccoment it! its a great place, and loads to do to suit everyone! i would definately go back to this hotel because it put the icing on the cake!!
Glad to be home from Salou!
Came back from holiday 13/4/07 after a very disappointing week at the Hotel Golden Port in Salou due to the poor weather. Stayed in a quad room which was basic and lacking in clothing storage space. Hardly any other British holidaymakers at the Hotel but it was busy -full of Spaniards and French holidaymakers who also didn't know what to do or where to go in the bad weather! Day and evening entertainment was sad and desperate to say the least and included only a few English words. Food was lovely and got better as the week went on. Reception staff very helpfull at all times. Not much to do in Salou or the adjoining area in poor weather and many places hadn't opened, including the water park, due to time of year. We all really enjoyed our day at Port Aventura although it was very busy there and we queued for an hour for most rides.
absolutely fabulous!!
my sister, 2 children (8 and5) and myself have just returned from the hotel port salou. we had an excellent time. this hotel is fantastic, the rooms are cleaned daily with fresh towels and bedding. The food is superb with everybody catered for (sister is a strict veggie), the desserts are out of this world ~ try the kiwi cheesecake!! .The staff are all helpful and friendly , speaking to the children and ordering taxis or times for trains into Barcelona ( which is very easy to do takes about an hour and half 10.80 euros (£7) for an adult. ) The children can go to the kids club which is run by spanish -but english speaking reps but all nationalities are welcome. There are different nationaities staying at the hotel which I preferred ,my children made friends with French children. There are plenty of sunloungers around the pool and there is a bar and snacks available too. The hotel is very central about 10mins walk into the main shopping and beach area which passes plenty of bars and tourist shops on the way . We will definitely be going back..
