The food was great. The drinks where cheap enough. Entertainment was brilliant.
Beaches and Portaventura was in walking distance. Lovely weather.
Staff were very helpful, our room was facing the pool. Would definitely go back.

Just returned from a fantastic holiday at the golden port salou hotel, no gripes what so ever about this hotel, only the dash for sun beds at 09.00 am but that is nothing to do with the hotel.
The room was a family room for four and was clean and had lots of room to move around, TV fridge, etc.
The meals in the restaurant were excellent; I have never had such a choice of options to choose from. Believe me my two kids are the worlds most faddy eaters and even they had some thing different every night. The food was always hot and well presented and the service was great. the entertainment for the kids was good and they have different acts every night, magicians, fire eaters, singers, etc etc.
The kids club and the entertainment officers were excellent too; they really made the holiday for our kids.
Summing up as I say we found it an excellent holiday for kids and adults, if you are thinking of booking and are reading this, what are you waiting for, go book it! I don’t think you would be disappointed, thanks to all the team at hotel golden port salou. kevin.

Great holiday. Hotel very clean with plenty of relaxing areas. Brilliant shows, although on a little late for children. Hotel run entertainers were brilliant with both adults and children, very funny.
Highly recommend the back massage in the spa & beauty area. Indoor pool and Jacuzzi if weather a bit cloudy.
Not far from main stretch of shops/ restaurants/ beach. Public transport easily accessible and cheap to get to other resorts and Portaventura. (well worth a visit)
Plenty of choice and variety of food at breakfast and evening meal, (not just chips for the kids) With themed nights.
Overall a very enjoyable and relaxing holiday. Would highly recommend it to anyone.

Just back from the most fantastic holiday! Food was fab. Entertainers were first class with kids clubs and games around the pool.
Hotel was very clean. Local beer was cheap. Didn’t go to the beach as when we got there it was packed, I have never seen that many people on a beach before and that was on in June!!
Port Aventura theme park is very good but expensive get your tickets before you go it works out cheaper. Over all my husband and my little girl and myself enjoyed it so much we are hoping to go back in August.
Couldn’t fault this hotel and would recommend it to anyone.

Six children, six adults, best holiday ever. Highly recommended for young and old.
The food was excellent, breakfast was the best if had, kids loved it more choice than I've seen in any other hotel and I've been in a lot.
Dinner was also excellent lots of choices with different themes every night. Layout of restaurant was first class.
Very clean bedrooms was not cramped with enough room to walk about.
Rest of hotel was very clean and staff very helpful. Children entertainment was excellent so were the late night shows.
Would go back any time, would highly recommend to young and old, situated near shops and not far from beach with plenty to do in resort.

I was a little apprehensive about going to this hotel having read a fair few bad reviews about it, but to be honest our experience in this hotel was mainly a positive one.
The hotel had a spacious well lit marbled reception area with comfortable seating the dining area and entertainment area was also very comfortable.
BEDROOMS:
The bedroom was a big size and found them to be very roomy with plenty of space for a family of four we also sent an email requesting a pool view in the hope they may be kind enough to allow us one without paying and upon our arrival we found they had kindly given us pool view and also my parents rooms pool view which was fab:0)
The only criticism about the room was that it was a little shabby. The bathroom was a little worrying we had a shower head that would not work and a toilet that was loose from the floor and moved when you sat on it they tried to fix it but in the end they simply could not, my parents room was fine though.
FOOD:
Oh my goodness me fantastic really nice very plentiful with plenty for the kids to eat and also wonderful themed nights which were out of this world they really were it was an absolute joy to eat in this hotel and we are used to 4* and 5* hotels so I really recommend the food at this hotel. On the themed nights they also had fabulous free champagne in buckets which you just keep filling up free of charge. FANTASTIC
POOL:
MMmm This one is a little tricky it’s a nice enough outdoor pool but to be honest it needs to be heated it was far too cold so no one went in it however they do have an indoor pool which again considering it was heated was still very cold and to be honest very shabby and dirty looking.
They did have a hot tub jacuzzi right next to the indoor pool which was free and absolutely fabulous I loved it and spent most of my time in it reading a book :0) Bliss..
ACTIVITIES:
They have a kid’s room with lots of computer games and pool tables etc which was fab. The evening entertainment to be honest was your average hotel entertainment with masses of bingo beforehand which we are not really into but others seemed to enjoy it.
STAFF:
The staff were excellent and very helpful and cleaners did a fantastic job.
BAD POINTS:
The only bad points I can pick up on was in the reception area some of the glass windows were cracked and smashed which seemed abit of a health hazard but maybe as it was Oct they were due for repair over the winter months.
SALOU RESORT:
was not that keen to be honest it was perfectly nice although a bit of a trek from the hotel to the beech but it rained for much of our stay and I mean torrential rain like a tropical storm, we had never seen rain like this before and it went on for days and days resulting in us having to buy rainmacs :0(
The resort itself seemed to have no character at all and was very manufactured. The only saving grace really to the holiday bar the really good hotel was that we went to Park Adventura and had a fantastic few days there which is a must if you’re in Salou.
WOULD WE GO BACK?
No not to Salou there was nothing much there to do so no, however if we could pick the hotel up and ship it to somewhere else we would oh and Park Adventura :0)

This was a great holiday; in fact we are going again this year.
The choice of food was really good and of excellent quality. To be honest from some of the reviews that I read before I went I was getting a little worried about the food, but I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived.
They have a gala night every Friday with free cava and they always had a choice of meat, fish, veg, potatoes, soup, fruit, desserts, salad, etc. every night.
Also I was glad to see that the restaurant had a table set aside for special diets e.g. soya milk, etc. which was a good sign.
The staff were all very friendly, the rooms were clean but basic and the pool area had nice surroundings.
I couldn`t fault this hotel and I would like to reassure anyone that is going to stay here.

Myself and my wife and 3 kids (17, 16, and 13) had a great time.
The hotel is clean, well organised, and the staff are helpful. The food was terrific, what a choice every day. My only gripe on this is that there were no cereals in the morning at breakfast. Drinks are reasonably priced and the service at the bar was quick.
Port aventura is only a short bus ride away (5 mins) we spent a lot of our time there, also at the adjoining pool(s) complex. If you can, get your tickets before you go on holiday, as there is a lot of queuing to get in, and having you tickets already saves time!!
Also well worth a trip, a whole day ideally, is the next town along the coast (10 mins bus again), is the huge pools complex at la pineda. This was a great way to chill out, or if you want have a go on the large amount of slides/rope climbs/wave pool. I can honestly say we had a fantastic day there. Saw the dolphins too!!
A trip to Barcelona to see the magic fountain was beautiful and quite romantic be warned to watch your wallet and purses though, as there are pickpockets about here. As soon as you get there GET A SEAT. It gets very full early.
Back in Salou, I agree that the touts are irritating, but I suppose it's like that anywhere there are a large number of clubs/pubs/restaurants.
I highly recommend this holiday location. There is something for all ages.

Me and my wife spent a fortnight here in late Sept early Oct '06. After a somewhat shakey start - we arrived at lunchtime, the room however, was not cleared or made up following the room's previous occupants' departure. After this hiccup, we had a great time. The hotel is clean and well maintained and is conveniently located in which to enjoy everything the bustling resort of Salou has to offer.
Children are catered for and are entertained daily by enthusiastic and engaging entertainers. The hotel bar (a no smoking area incidentally) though large, has a limited range of drinks on offer. The buffet style food is well presented and plentiful. On several occasions it seemed to be too popular as we had to queue to get into the dining area. The hotel staff are efficient and friendly.
The hotel has a broad client base, with Welsh, Scottish, English, German, Dutch, French and Spanish guests. This was our 2nd visit to the Costa Daurada region and have enjoyed ourselves on both visits. The area has a lot to offer, lovely scenery, great coastline, shopping trips theme parks, culture and history. Nearby, Tarragona is well worth a visit as is the great city of Barcelona. The airport at Reus is quite small and can get quite congested.
Despite being able to buy cigarettes in the airport shop, there is nowhere for passengers to go and have a quiet smoke while waiting for their baggage or aircraft. Overall, we would recommend both the hotel and Salou as a holiday base.

Me and my family went to the Golden port hotel in July 2006 there was 3 rooms booked and 9 of us went. The hotel is positioned very good near to the town centre and a walks away from the theme park of Port Aventura.
The food in the hotel is very, very good a different selection every night with plenty of choices except, there isn’t a lot of cooked veg. A lot of English at the hotel and all English entertainment.
Very good entertainers all through the day from fun aqua sports for adults (kids too) and children’s pool discos then at the night games, singers, discos etc and from 9am a kids club through to 12am at night.
Only problem we had when we went was somebody in the pool was 'slashing' lilos etc which you can have in the pool by the way. Maybe some grumpy person who dosent like children playing splashing etc, the security did come out and watch over the pool tho with the staff and life guard.
All the staff in the hotel are very friendly (except the restaurant head waiter) he didn’t smile much...at all! But all the bar staff and main staff are very funny and happy all the time.
There is a gym, games room, 2 kids clubs, 3 pools, adult game room, conference hall, bar, internet, TVs, sun terrace and much more. You will enjoy your stay here it is very good.
Also the water in the vending machine costs a lot there’s a shop just round the corner 3 mins walk max where you can buy 3 bottles for the price!
Have a good time!
I’m going back in May with my boyfriend for my birthday!

This was the best holiday we have ever been on. Booked as a surprise 50th birthday present for my husband, I had made all the decisions without his input and had decided to go on our first ever half-board basis rather than self-catering.
I was really nervous about this but the food was amazing. The choice was fantastic and it changed every night. I fell in love with the salad bar while my husband and 11 year old daughter had hot food every night.
The choice of fresh fruit was excellent too but the desserts were too sweet for my taste but as a member of weight watchers this was a good thing (lost 2lbs)!!
The rooms were clean and adequate for sleeping in (standard hotel fare).
The highlight had to be the entertainment staff. Israel, Nathan, and Isobel were outstanding, amazing, energetic, dynamic etc etc etc!! They were out of this world (need I go on???).
The only negative is the ridiculous scrum for sunbeds in the morning and the seemingly obsession (by mainly Dutch guests) of booking beds that they don't use until after they return from the beach at 5pm!!
Watched some interesting arguments about this as well as seeing one set of towels ending up in the pool through frustration. The advice from reception is to observe the beds and if they haven't been used for 2 hours, you should politely fold up the towels and leave them somewhere obvious for their owners to collect.
We have a family policy of never going back to the same hotel twice but we will be changing this policy for the Golden Port. Came home on Saturday evening and by 8pm that night we had priced up our next trip. Can't wait to go back!
