Bel Sol Hotel Reviews
" We stayed at the Bel Sol in August.... "
Submitted By: Miss VC Herron
We stayed at the Bel Sol in August. For what we paid (£370 all inclusive for 2 weeks) it was satisfactory but I certainly would not pay any more.
The hotel is situated close to shops and bars which is good but the Maltese leave their rubbish our on the streets, most of the time out of bags as the cats get to them so the stench of the rubbish in the sun is horrendous, and you have to walk through this every time you leave the hotel!
Both of the hotel pools were cloudy and you couldn’t see the bottom of either of them. We saw one after someone had complained and it was cleaned, it seemed clearer but then it was left again for a week, in the end we did not go in and went to the bay instead!
The food at the hotel was adequate, nothing special at all. In fact generally what was on offer at lunchtime was offered at dinner too!
The rooms were cleaned everyday but not very well, practically beds and towels were dealt with but they never bothered sweeping the floors. Many people at the hotel complained of the lack of air conditioning as all you get in your room is a ceiling fan, which doesn’t really cause any effect in the height of summer. As we were all inclusive we also got a table-top fan which helped keep us cool.
A big plus point for the hotel though is the staff. They are all so friendly and great to chat too, this affects the bar though as it was often unattended for long periods of time so there was always a queue for drinks.
It’s not a hotel I would recommend and certainly would not go there again. We stayed at The Windsor Hotel in Sliema a couple of years ago and found that one much better!!

The hotel is extremely poor accommodation and I know I got a bargain deal but some who stayed there did not, they paid a top whack price. The rooms were dirty, in need of a total redecoration and they certainly need better bedding.
I was there on a half board basis, however one nights food was enough and so I ended eating out for the rest of the week. There are actually some very nice restaurant/bars to eat at nearby and they are quite cheap.
The hotel has a roof top pool but this was dirtier than the lodge near my house. The downstairs pool was not bad but it didn’t really get any sun on it.
I would come back to Malta because it has a lot to offer but I would steer clear from the Bel Sol Hotel.
