Frankie says relax
9 / 10
Aug 2011, 2CQ6TAJ1

Having been on lots of already All Inclusive holidays prior to this one, we knew how it all worked, weak drinks, repetative food, onsite rep entertainment (sometimes good/sometimes poor).
On arriving to Festival Village the coach dropped us of and we had 2 flights of steps to drag cases down. It was not until the next day that we saw the sloping drive, at each end of the hotel. Could the coach not drop off here, or advice of the easier access, for the advantage of younger/older guests? Just a suggestion.
Impressions on reception at first were not good. The purple, green, yellow decor just taints the place on arrival. However the receptionist who checked us in was warm and welcoming. Our allocated room was Block A 114. The rooms and balcony were huge. The room was clean and our beds comfy. Though I do think the sofa beds need thicker mattress to sleep on as they are not comfy to even sit on. On looking out to the pool view, it was then we could see the previous comments, regarding lack of sunbeds. Truth is the pool and pool area is so small, they could not put out any extra sunbeds anyway. You are literally lying to the person next to you. So thank goodness we are not sunbed people that have never bothered with that early rush where ever we go. The pool is small, you can't really swim in it properly and you have to get out really for he water polo to progress. However having been to Salou now 4 times, it is a standard built pool and the hotel was not built intended for All Inclusive, and gather the block apartments were added later. Our theory is Block C, should have been built as an extra pool, bringing the hotel to 4+Star, but then could we then have afforded this holiday!
The food here is very good for an All Inclusive. Catering towards the British but without getting boring. Breakfast is the same everyday but traditional as we would want it! Only trouble is in peak times you may struggle to find a clean, set up table. We used to take and scrape our plates to help the staff. So many lazy people, it takes a few seconds! The snack bar was really good. I like the fact the hotel would not put up with, unruly kids or not serve kids coming in soaking wet, bare footed. this is a first!!!! Well done Festival Village.
The bar staff were great, there was never a queue. All the staff were excellent,on the ball they really could not do more to help you.
The entertainment team were excellent. Close par to Holiday Village Eygypt!!!!
Okay couple dodgy shows thrown in like the one guy Ska Wars ,announced that apparentley 'The Specials are from Birmingham? Like Beatles are from Manchester!!
Our actual RJP Reps were Holly,Sarah and Frankie -Who could forget Frankie, he has excellent guest rapour. He is great on turd alert!!
Overall we had a great holiday here at Festival Village, our only moan was size of pool, dining area to accomodate guests.
Thankyou to the Manager for an excellent holiday and his hard working team. Keep it up!!

  • Advice: Make the pool area bigger and maybe an extra person just clearing tables after breakfast, evening meal.

Had a family holiday first week August at the Festival Village. First impressions were not great as had been allocated a room that wasn't cleaned from the previous guests, however, the receptionist was very apologetic and quickly and efficiently reallocated me a (better) room. The rooms are big we had a 1 bedroom apartment, including fridge (necessity) and air con. Balcony was huge, did nt feel that we were tripping over each other. Very clean complex, cleaners on hand 24/7. Food good, something for everyone. Pool good although had to be up early for a sunbed. Entertainers worked hard obviously on a tight budget but always something to do. Would go back

just come back after 1 week at the festival village, on an all inclusive
we enjoyed our stay here only problem is that the matresses on the beds are very poor, maid service is very good secirity is through the night and of course tha animation team work very hard day and night if you stay here QUEEN TRIBUTE is a must fantastic!!! we have 3 teenagers and the enjoyed the stay just as much as we did.food was very good . all inclusive was brilliant 2x alcholic drinks and 2x soft drinks per person ( worked well ). as in all hotels there isnt enough sun loungers around the pool as people put the towels down first thing but dont show around the pool till after dinner this needs to be addressed a.s.a.p

We stayed at the festival village July/Aug 2010. We are have 2 kids and we all had a fantastic time due to the staff. Dan, Katie, Liz and Greg the entertainment staff were all brilliant with the kids and the adults. There was a kids club ,small play area and day time activities for both the adults and kids. There was also a mini disco and evening entertainment. The Bar/Waiting staff were also brilliant (Scott, Danny and Alex).
The food was very good for an all inclusive holiday as there was plenty of choice and there was somthing for eveyone.
The only thing I would say is that the rooms could do with an upgrade as our shower/cubical was not in very good condition. We would go back to this hotel.

We had a brilliant time. We went for a week at the beginning of the school summer holidays. I booked directly with the hotel and this included transfers from the airport and a bottle of cava on arrival.
The rooms were spacious, fairly basic but clean and more than adequate for what we needed. It was great to have a a small kitchen, even though we were all inclusive, because the fridge meant we could keep our drinks cool.
There were a range of English and Spanish staff. Most were really friendly and helpful. The all inclusive provided a suitable variety of food which was cooked well. My children, aged 9 and 12 were happy with the food too. The all inclusive drinks were good too. My son loved the children's non alcoholic cocktails. I enjoyed trying some of the cocktails from their drinks list. These were included as all inclusive.
The swimming pool wasn't massive if you like to do lengths, but there was always space to swim and to cool off! It would have been nice if there were more sun beds, but we usually managed to find a couple. There were always chairs available.
The entertainment programme was like you would get at a holiday camp, but it kept us occupied of an evening and we had an enjoyable time.
This hotel is suitable for families, due to the size of the apartments, it is great if you want to all be together as this can be hard to find. If you are looking for a child free zone, then this hotel isn't for you. However, the children were all well behaved whilst we were there.
The apartments are near to port aventura which was great. It was just a short bus ride away. Unfortnately, this hotel is not in the main part of Salou and you need to get a bus or taxi to get anywhere. We walked to La Pineda one day and the main part of Salou another and it was quite a long way. The bus fare (single/ one way) was no more than about £2 though and the buses were regular. It was just a shame there wasn't a lot within short walking distance of the hotel.
Based on what we paid we were really happy that we had a good value for money holiday with clean apartments, thing to do at the hotel and a genuine all inclusive programme

Jul 2010, The Crossans

Myself my husband and 2 grandchildren stayed hear between 29 jun10 and 6 July 10. Got off to a bit off a nightmare start because our room was not ready. but once that was sorted out much later we did have a good holiday met some really nice people. I have to say the staff were very nice and helpful. The food was nice but the choice for children was really restricted, my grandson lived on tuna sandwiches. The apartment was clean and spacious although dated. All in all had a great time.

From the welcome on arrival to the size, comfort and cleanliness of our apartment, to every single one of all staff(reception, maids, bar, restaurant and snackbar). The food was delicious breakfast, lunch dinner and evening snacks with a good varied choice of main courses which were never repeated while we were there. The entertainment team were fab,the entertaint itself was excellent every night.
The location 5 to 10 minutes to small coved beaches,15 mins walk to the wonderful beach of La Pineda or 25mins walk to Salou or get the bus to either outside the hotel, but buy a bus pass for 8.90euro which gives you 10 trips to anywhere between La Pineda and Cambrills.
Ignore last years' reviews this hotel has been given a revamp both the buildings and the staff.Read all 2010 reviews and get the truth. We will definitely be going back hopefully this year.

Just back from the Festival Village and really enjoyed our stay. We went self catering, and stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment which was located just beside the main building. The apartment was very spacious and clean on arrival with plenty of storage space. The staff ware very friendly and the kids club was extremely well run.
