All good.we didn't rent a car so probably missed out on a lot locally.good local bus from hotel though.
It was ok for a week
from SpamboEngland
We had a couple of bad weather days which didn't make for a great start and made everywhere look much worse than it was! However once the sun came out, things looked much better. Unfortunately on the first day of the sun, the pool closed down because the storms had left it in a mess. There was no need for this - certainly not to keep it closed all day. If they'd have organised themselves better, the pool could have been all cleaned up by the morning but it seemed easier for them to shut it for the day (even though there didn't seem to be any cleaning activity going on!). All the other hotels managed to open their pools without too much fuss. The hotel was ok, we had a two bedroom apartment which was nice but had a really bad smell of drains in the bathroom and although we reported it on several occasions nothing was done (other than we were given some cheap air freshner - not quite what I had in mind!). The kids loved it but I thought the First Choice element was poor. I've travelled with First Choice lots of times (3 times a year) because i think generally their kids clubs and facilities are superior to other operators however in this case, they were below parr. It was the last week of the 6 weeks holidays but you'd have thought it was the first week of the season and the reps were just finding their feet. The welcome meeting was a shambles, noone was prepared and although the reps giggled all the way through it - noone else found it amusing, just boring ranging on irritating! They gave out a post card and told everyone to write down anything they needed, or wasn't in their appartment. I wrote a couple of stuff down that was completely ignored - it would have been better service not to ask in the first place! Rocking Ruth in the kids club was the best, the others especially Jelly Tot Julie just looked like they couldn't be bothered, everything was a huge effort for them and always complained of being tired. During the mini disco - if the boss was around the reps would get up to dance with a smile but as soon as he left they either sat down or had a face like a wet weekend. Although they were polite when you spoke to them, their enthusiasm had obviously waned during the season. In contrast - the Hotel Animation Team was fantastic - basic yes, but very enthusiastic and always seemed to try their best. The kids enjoyed the kids club but were a bit disappointed that they only had one outdoor activity in a full week and this had to be supervised by parents - otherwise it was all indoor stuff. I also thought that it was a little cheeky as there was a charge for about 50% of the sessions. The Farewell party i thought was a particular rip off at 12 Euros per child. Apparently they got either a cheese or jam sandwich, a bun and one drink of squash. They left with their party bags which contained all their 'Welcome to the Kids club' paraphanalia which seemed a bit odd to be given on the last day and in all the other First Choice properties is given out on the first day of the kids club. The food in the hotel was edible - the Argentinian Restaurant just down the road was fantastic. Maybe I'm being too picky and please don't let me put you off going as we still had a good time overall - I was just a little disappointed with First Choice, maybe I'll give the other tour operators a try next year. I would not choose to go back here but if it was a cheap deal, I'd go back and know we'd have an equally good time.
Good for young kids - quiet location
from DubAug
I stayed here the last week of August with my 7 year old. Could not fault the hotel, rooms very clean and loads of room for the 2 of us. 1 beds could be a bit cramped for more than 1 kid and 2 adults. We were on the 6th floor and had a great view of the sea and mountains. Hotel overall was good - nothing spectacular. Breakfast wasn't great but we ate dinner there one night and it was good value. There is a little pizza place over the road from the hotel. Down on the start of the strip there are a good few restaurants. Only tried a few of them. In general the food is only ok. No fresh fruit and veg but lots of pizza, burgers, chips and ice cream:) The best food we could find was in the old town. Get the bus from the hotel (every half hour) up the mountain to the old town. Great view from the main square and there are a few nice little souvenir shops off the square. The bus takes about 20-30 minutes but it is worth it. You get the bus back from where you are dropped off. We went to the commercial centre too on the bus. Shops were disappointing but it was good to sit down and get a decent coffee and do some people watching. There is a supermarket in the basement of the shopping centre. I would advise going there on your first day. The supermarket in the hotel is very expensive and not much variety. Stock up on fruit and veg. When getting the bus back get on at the stop near the sea, on the roundabout. That way you go straight back to the hotel and don't have to do the loop that goes the other way up the coast. The beach is just down from the hotel. Waves were great but current very strong. The water was shallow so was great for the kids. Water was warmer than the hotel pool. There is only one lifeguard on duty near the pier so you need to keep a careful eye on the kids. Hotel pool is open from 10 till 7. This does mean you dont have to get up at 7am to get a spot at the pool! It doesn't stop people hogging the beds though. The ones in the middle near the kids pool are always the first to get snapped up. No big inflatables allowed in the pool but you are allowed balls and rings etc. Kids club was good. Only negative was that you have to book in an hour before. Entertainment was ok. Parents may get a bit bored though. The welcome session by the reps was a big waste of time. We were left sitting watching them dance around laughing at themselves for an hour Basically an annoying sales pitch with no useful info whatsoever. I got all info I needed from people who were there the previous week. I would recommend this spot for families with young kids.
Beautiful loc

We stayed here for two weeks with two children aged 6 and 8. The hotel is situated at the end of the strip in a great location just 5 mins across from the beautiful beach. The hotel is very nice. Rooms are large and comfortable, and the balcony is huge. Restaurant is ok but more for snacks than meals. Staff very nice, but very slow at their jobs so queues were endless to get a drink but then again this is traditional Spain at its best. Kids clubs were ok. Children were kept inside for the duration of the clubs and have to be signed in 1 hour before due to place restrictions. Pools are lovely, and the life guard is on duty all the time.Swim kids club is fantastic. The trainer Emma is fantastic and really gives the kids confidence. Activities all day long for children and adults with the hard working entertainment team. Teenage club was really just a room to hang in.... most teenagers just found their own amusement! Loads of computers at €1 for 20 mins so you can keep in touch. Night time entertainment was very repetitive, and usually consisted of the kids doing a show, or the entertainers doing a show. Bingo every night but to be honest, after a few nights we were bored and started walking the promenade just to get away. A good place for a family holiday with young children but after two weeks I was bored senseless. A week would have been just fine.
Great Family Hotel
from margy1
just back from a weeks stay at the Puerto Marina. We had a one bedroom apartment which was nicely furnished and spotlessly clean, with a lovely balcony overlooking the sea. All apartments have views of the pool, beach and mountains. The hotel staff and holiday reps were excellent, kids club was great and there were games etc. by pool several times a day run by the hotel. My 5 year old and 21 month old loved it. The restaraunt and the supermarket in the hotel were reasonably priced and the buffet breakfast and dinner was excellent valoue. I would recommend this hotel to families with children of all ages. It is only a short stroll to the beach and shops and is in a lovely quiet area.
Teenagers were happy
from J0mac
I agree with all the positive comments I've read about this property - we had a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday and the Puerto Marina is a lovely place to stay. My worry about going there initially was there would not be enough for my teenagers to do ; they're 14 and 16 year old boys and we also have a 10 year old daughter. Activities for the teenagers and adults included rifle shooting and archery in the mornings (if there awake!) and ping pong or darts and water polo in the afternoons. The boys loved the water polo and it was a great way to get to meet other people. In the evenings they just "hung out" with the other teenagers, of which there were plenty, and were quite happy to sit around chatting and having a laugh playing the bingo. The Wavelength club did not appeal to them although my daughter did go occaisionally and it is a good way to get to know the other kids. There is a room in the hotel with about 8 computers so the kids can play their games and keep in touch with their friends although it is quite expensive at 1 euro for 20 mins but it also means that they're not tempted to waste their whole holiday in front of a screen!
Lovely hotel, lovely place, great crack!!!!
from sanjoOffaly
Travelled with my three children and my granddaughter. Hotel was lovely, three lovely pools, clean with loads of sunbeds. I found some of the staff a little surly to start with but by the end of the two weeks they were much more pleasant. The apartments were all sea facing with lovely views. As the hotel is at the end of the strip it was nice and relaxing. The entertainers were lovely and seemed to enjoy their job, making everyone feel welcome and involved. Kids had a ball !!! The food was ok, not much of a selection in the resaurant but edible none the less. The staff in the pizzeria would not deviate from the menu and as my daughter is vegetarian she ate a lot of margharita pizza and vegetable lasagne !!! They refused to change the tuna to cheese on a salad!! Not possible, was the reply when asked. Maybe a few extra vegetarian meals could be added! None the less, we had a great laugh , meeting some of the most pleasant and funny people, by the end of our fortnight we were like a big family!!! Highly recommend this hotel, especially for families
Great family Hotel

Hello all. Totally recommend this hotel, my husband, mother and two children 11 and 8 stayed for a week in a two bedroom apartment. it was very clean spacious, and well positioned huge balcony and great views. Loved the fact that the pool area did not open until 10 (stops bed hoggers!!) pools were brill while we were there they had a broken tile on pool floor and shut the pool but only for a couple of hours and had it repaired very promptly. Entertainment for all (mens water polo looked FUN), children loved reps club and hotel staff entertainment. beach was great but waves were quite big at times so not suitable for young or non swimmers. Mojacar is great and we totally recommed the hotel.
lovely place to stay
from holidaylover75
My husband and I and our 3 children aged 12,6 and 2 stayed here for a week. I did a lot of research as I would be very careful when it comes to the childrens needs. All in all we had a great time. The rooms were lovely, cleaned daily if needed and We found the staff lovely. Children will love this hotel and they are entertained constantly with different games and shows. Also no rush for the sunbeds as there is loads for everyone. The poolside bar is a bit expensive and the staff in this and the main bar/restaurant would not be in any hurry but yet very pleasant! Food only o.k. There are some lovely places to eat and every half hour there is a bus outside to bring you all along the strip for just one euro!! A visit to the old town is a must it's just 10-15mins busride! A bit of a struggle with a buggy but just gorgeous! For a luxury bite to eat go for ''Mariellas'' Restaurant! Fab food and lovely irish coffee. Also los amigos and badgers have very nice food also and they are just few mins walk from the hotel. Didnt go to the beach because we heard it was a bit dangerous for the children but we didnt miss it as the pool's were lovely all 3 of them, 2 large and 1 baby and a lifegaurd was on duty every day! The shop in the hotel is quite pricey too so head off on the bus to the supermarket , about 10 mins and stock up. We didnt find this until the last day but at least we'l know when we go back next year. So all in all we had a ball and once the children are happy and entertained and you have good food and a cool san miguel what more do you want!!!
excellent hotel all round

As a group of 6 girls we stayed at this hotel for a week. We couldnt have got a better hotel. Absolutley everything about it was fabulous. We had no kids with us but from what we saw the kids clubs were fantastic. There was entertainment every night and good entertainment at that. The rooms were great, spacious, clean and well equipped. All in all a fab place to stay for kids and adults alike.

We have just returned from a weeks holiday in Mojacar and as we found the reviews so helpful before we went, we wanted to leave our own when we got back. Hotel - It is the last hotel on the strip, which is about 5 miles long, so there's a 5-10 minute walk before you start... more
