Spacious rooms with huge balconies & sea views give this hotel most of its advantages. A bus every half hour taking you along the lengthy sea front & up to the charming pueblo for €1 is wonderful as you may/will need to escape from the worst hotel entertainment on any continent (lucky the patio doors are insulated). It appears that the kids club staff double as night warblers belting out songs rehearsed with the kids during the day. Those on the all-inclusive option would need to drink a lot to survive a night of this at the terrace restaurant.
Food - well only took a chance with one breakfast due to an early airport pickup & have to say it was the worst meal I have ever encountered in all my years of travel. The supermarket is also well below standard - whoever manages it obviously is not interested in making money as shelves were not restocked & the selection was poor.
Such a pity as this could be a very good hotel if the food? was improved and a decent supermarket/bakery opened for those on self catering. 4**** on side of building but really a 3*** - dont be put off as it is well worth it for the apartment size and view & mojacar is a nice beach resort with plenty of good restaurants and clubs.

I am writing this review just to alert the tourists when staying in the Puerto Marina Hotel. We were only there a few days when we came back to our apartment one evening to notice that we had been robbed. Not just robbed, the whole safe with all of our belongings had been ripped off the wall and the whole safe taken!!. Dealing with the actual hotel management was an absolute nightmare, as really they did not care at all. We had no money, no credit cards, no passports or anything, and the hotel did not even offer us food the next day!. It was a week before we managed to get to talk to the hotel manager about what had happened, and really this was a waste of time also as she really did not care. The only help we got was through the Reps from First Choice (or Falcon through Ireland) only for them I don't know how we would have coped.
Anyway I know I sound as if I am doing nothing but complaining, but I don't really have anything good to say about this place. There are no cameras in the halls, there are no security guards in a hotel which would have 1,000 people at the height of the season and none of the double patio doors (both bedroom & sitting room) close properly so in the end we had to wedge the kitchen chairs in the doors for some sort of security!. We were then told by the locals that robberies happen every few weeks in this hotel, so I am just giving a warning to any tourists that are travelling here so hopefully it won't happen to anyone else!

We are just back from two weeks in the puerto Marina hotel and thank god we were not all inculisive. The food in the whole hotel was crap. We ate in the hotel on our first night as its a bit of a track down to the resturants it was the worst meal that we had in the whole 2 weeks we were there. The resort of Mojacar it self is very nice with lots of great places to eat and the beach was wonderful. The hotel is in a great setting with all rooms sea facing. My son is 4 years old and he loved the kids disco and going into the kids club the odd day. The entertament is the worst that I have ever experienced on a hoilday, we felt that we had to go out every night as it was so bad. I felt that some of the reps wanted to be anywere else but were they were some times when i droped my son into the club they wouldnt even smile. The rooms were Cleaned every day except Mondays and thursday if you can call it been cleaned they called at 9.30am and when I am on holiday i like to have a lie in, I also had a 12 week old baby girl with me so she would be still sleeping at this time, so I asked the cleaner to come back later which she never did and when she did clean it wasnt up to my standards so needless to say I didnt leave her a tip. Overall i really loved the resort of Mojacar and would go back.

Travelled to Puerto Marina in July 2008. The hotel/Apartments were clean and tidy, fairly spacious with a hugh balcony, we also had a fantastic sea view.
We stayed all inclusive, and were not expecting too much after reading other reviews, however we were pleasantly suprised, the food was hot and varied during the week we stayed, only the deserts were a little repetative.
The facilities are very good, especially for children, the kids club was excellent and the entertainment team worked their socks off.
We had no complaints except they need more sun parasols, especially for the amount of children staying in the hotel. We would definitely return and recommend to others.

Well, where do I start.. The pool is lovely if it has been de-bugged which isn't very often and when people haven't been sick in. Our apartment was cleaned twice in 14 days and the second time only because we had made a complaint. We never had our beds made and on the 8th day we were left the sheets on each bed for us to change ourselves!! needless to say we didn't. The microwave/grill in the apartment was extremely dangerous. It was way above eye level and to cook a piece of toast you had to use something to lift the metal tray in and out. The balcony was not swept once and neither were the floors throughout the apartment. It was a short walk to some of the restaurants along the beach front, but at 36 degrees, with a path that only went half the way along and the rest of the walk spent in the road, and with an older member in our party and the better restauarants much further along, a bus journey was required which cost 1 euro per person per journey. This cost our family of 5, 140 euros in 2 weeks, something that wasn't budgeted for and left us without enough money for our last 2 days. The entertainment was the worst we have ever come across. The two so called shows, the parrot show and the belly dancer were awful and to have them to look forward to in the second week meant another trip out on the bus. The resident entertainers are good with the children if they are 8 or under anyone over that age would be bored senseless. There was one saving grace and that was NICOLA she was one of the loveliest people, fantastic with the children. There was only one trip that appealed to us which was cancelled twice due to lack of interest. This was because it was so expensive. Whilst we were there one family went home disgusted with the place and reported it as not being the rating it was advertised at.
No complaints about the weather. It was in the 30s for the whole 2 weeks and that, money just can't buy.

just got back from there and i miss it so much. The food isn't as bad as people make out. People forget it is a buffet not all cooked then brought out just for you. The hotel is great for kids, rooms spacious and clean. Some things are crafty like having to pay 1 euro for each sunbed matress. All inclusive isn't quite all that, for example theres only one ice lolly and 1 small ice cream tub actually available free meaning i would get about 4 at a time because they were so small, and ice slush drinks aren't included either. The day we left at 2:30 we had no lunch because all inclusive had stopped at 12:00, kinda annoyed me. They're a bit tight like that checking your room numbers! Although £100 extra to go all inclusive is a good deal :)
Anyway great holiday, nice staff even if in the town the Spaniards are moody :| Can't wait to go back next year :):):).

Returned from Mojacar last week and we are gutted to be back in England! We had a really great time here and the food was not as bad as people made out, i am pretty fussy to be honest and as long as you don't pile your plate with every item that is on offer at each meal, it doesn't get too boring. There were a couple of days when the food was not the best but there is a choice and you can also choose to eat out to break up your hols as we did - we found this more stressful though as one of our children would happily get up and wander off, which was dangerous, so in the confines of the hotel you knew that they were never to far away.
There were typically some people that moaned and these types of people are the types that would moan for the sake of it, to be honest it just brings you down - so we just got on with it and really made the most of it, we met some brilliant people who made the holiday special.
The entertainment team were brilliant and worked very hard to keep everyone entertained and luckily did a 2 week turn a round to keep us all interested and they were really friendly to everyone.
The accomodation was great for us we had our own bedroom and the boys slept out in the diner, the balconies were child friendly in that they are set back rather than just vertical.
Although back a little from the main resort area, with a little walk up the hill near to the sea, I couldn't really fault this place that much, we wanted to relax which we did and I got a break from having to cook and worry about day to day house chores - I suppose my only grumble would have been that they could have had more high chairs with only 3 at meal times and a full restaurant it could be a bit testing, apart from that brilliant!

We recently stayed here as it was our 1st trip to this part of Spain we were apprehensive but after seeing the apartment and meeting the staff we were completly at ease..
The receptionists were pleasant and most helpful. The rooms were spotless and were checked and cleaned everyday. The shop while it a little overpriced was adequate and had the basics needed. The food in the buffet was reasonably priced and delicious.
First Choice reps were in top form and most helpful especially Nicola and Ruth (so the kids say) The swimming coach Rosie was the most competant and expert in putting her pupils at ease in the water and instilled confidence in them.
Overall we(5) enjoyed the holiday and recommend it to families......

We where advised by the travel agents to go all inclusive as we have 2 young children 3 and 6 and told we could get drinks snacks and all the meals bufet style all day, this sounded great, until we arrived and things became clearer. First of all the childrens reps where fantastic, aaron, cat, caroline, all looked after by girls in the kids clubs fantastically. They where polite fun of energy and worked so hard. The first night we arrived we went in to the var to order our paid for drinks, i asked for a tia maria and coke, and the bar man poured me some cheap copy brand, i asked for real tia maria, and i was told that for all inclusive you only get the cheap stuff not the real branded drinks, this is the same for malibu, bailys all of the spirits, the bar staff are very rude and do not like being asked for anything, also the snacks only last from 12-3 in the pizza place, anything outside this u pay for, the quality of food in the buffet for breakfast , lunch and dinner is a joke, cold, or not cooked, sitting for a long time in cold water, they use the cheapest food they can find to save money. we ordered a hotdog and paid for it to see the difference and it was hot toasted and garnished, the one u get in the buffet is cold, undercooked and half the size, the same goes for all the other foods on offer, my children lived on chips bread rolls and ice-cream, so did we, 4 out of the 7 nights we where there we went to the town for dinner as we could no longer stand eating in the dining room. you can get minerals , water and ONLY a certain type of ice cream from the pool bar. the local beer they serve is just a gas filled glass of water, if u drink it dont sit near anyone later as u will be letting wind go all night. The kids get a disco from 8 until about 9.30, when bingo starts, be prepared u will spend alot of money on the little extras, after the bingo there ois a show, normally put on by the reps, there was only 2 outside shows by "professionals" a parrot show, crap, and a belly dancer, crap as well, no quality acts at all.
The hotel is spotless, cleaned all the time, the reception is a joke, rude and never look at u . The rooms are ok, we where in a 1 bed, again spotless, big balcony and well equipped, all the bed linen was spotless well aired and no smell. the rooms are air conditioned, but u need the door key to be inserted in a little slot to activate the electricity, so when u leave the room the power goes off so does the aircon.
there was no noise at night, we never heard a thing, all families and no idiots messing.
We will never go inclusive again, as it was a rip off, the saying "you get what u pay for " is so true, as they have 2 different types of food for paying and inclusive.
We would go back due to the fact it is a very safe place, clean, and a very quiet place, but we will go self catering, if you have kids bring as much little things as u can, like noodles, soups, what ever u can pack, as u will not eat their food in the buffet.
we stayed for just a week, and have to say it was enough.
Hope this helps.

the entertainment staff were fantastic Cat and Tanya kept our 4 kid active for all the 2 weeks i would give them a rating of 10 out of 10 . as for the food not very good breakfast was the the same boring thing every day it was cold the food did pick up a little at the end of the second week but still needs alot of work. we were all inclusive and it was the poorest we have ever ever stopped in i don't think they understand what all inclusive means the only thing we got extra from the ones who were full board were drinks and the children could have chips burger or a hot dog and a small tub of ice cream that is it now i have stopped in a lot of all inclusive hotels and i wouldn't give this a rating of 3. I have just returned from a weeks holiday along with my wife, daughter, x daughter in law a freind and 7 children. We stayed at the puerto marina and found the rooms to be 1st class. Entertainment was OK, the reps and hotel staff were freindly and helpful. The biggest let down was the food, it was boring and the (hot dishes) were always cold. We complained on numerous occasions to the reps. Everyone we met were dissatisfied with the food. If I ever return to the resort I would go self catering has the complex was fantastic. Therefore I score the complex and staff 7 food 0.

We have just returned from a fabulous holiday where we stayed at the Puerto Marina in Mojacar, Spain. Although the weather wasn't very good for the first few days the entertainment provided by the hotel made up for this. The hotel provides an entertainment team along with the 'First Choice' kids club. My little girl (aged 4) was thrilled to play games and participate in the mini-disco. The hotel entertainments team were superb - Tanya, Chris and Cat really connected with the kids and did their utmost to include everyone, my child adored them..
We stayed all inclusive and found the quality and choice of food superb- lots of freshly cooked meats, fish and pasta dishes. The hotel rooms were spacious and spotless and the staff were very courteous. there were also on-site laundry facilities; a reasonably priced supermarket; games room; internet access; childrens play area and a superb pool area with 3 pools.
We met some fabulous families there ( the hotel attracts a lot of Irish families).
Overall an excellent holiday and we will probably return again next Summer!

we had a brilliant week in the Peurto Marina. Apartements were really clean, loved the balcony space, staff were helpful and friendly. Brilliant spot for children, really safe and had great entertainment. only downfall was the bars not much choice. had to take a bus journey about 5 mins to all the bars and other restaurants, but besides that would highly recommend and will certainly be going back...
