Jun 2011, Mr Happy Really I am

The last thing you want in the middle of a Tenerife heatwave is no air coditioning, however that's exactly what me and the wife got. Despite complaining every day the hotel did not seem interested in our plight, after seven days they finally gave us a stand up fan. Which... more

Best family holiday to date
my family and i have had such a great holiday at villa tagora, there was nothing at all i could complain about, it had been the most family orientated holiday we have ever been on, the staff at the hotel were pleasant and the childrens animation team spot on, its the only time i have let my children join mini clubs etc, i felt totally relaxed and confident in the way the team cared for my children, the food was excellent and despite having "picky" children there was always food that they enjoyed, nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff, the accomodation was very clean and well mentained. looking forward to going back in july .
4 star???
Upon arrival to the Villa Tagora the place appeared ok, similarly did the clean room and the a/c did work. After a few days on the complex we started to experience the issues raised by previous reviewers. Sun loungers - the North European contingency made sure they was up well before anybody else, marking thier daily teritory - which appeared to be growing over the week. Food - breakfast good - plenty of choice, lunch and evening meal - always meat and fish options, however no foods that made a standard meal. By the end of the week we started to eat out due to the fact chips were growing out of my ears and I had eaten enough salad to become a rabbit. Entertainment - day time - the daily water pool sports was a good laugh but there was nothing that stood out. Evening, in-house poor quality shows. Mr & Mrs night, karoke night (mic did not work) the performances did not even get better with free drink. Drink - not bad, although staff numbers where limited to 2 serving the full complex each night and there was not enough places to sit after 8.30. Plus, the bar closes at 11 on the dot, this often led to large queues from 10.30 onwards. Overall, the Villa is not a 4* instead a 2/3*. There are a lot better all inclusives around. Steve H
not a 4 star standard
First of all when we arrived at the Tagoro there was no porter or at least someone to show us the way to our room. We spent 15 mins dragging the luggages to find our room and then we had to carry them down a flight of stairs. The a/c wasn't working properly, the bath was disgusting, not because it wasn't clean but it was all stained as it was very old, the bathroom is not a 4 star standard. Then fter 3 hrs arguing with the manager re the a/c all we got was a fan. We spent 6 nights sleeping on a sofa bed so at least we used the fan and the little bit of a/c to cool the sitting room as it was too hot in the bedroom. Other people from our group also found cockroaches and one of the receptionist, who was very rude, told them to buy insect killer!!! The food was ok but nothing special compared to a 4 star hotel in Malta. As regards to cleanliness it was ok even the chambermaids always smile at you when you pass near then. In the evening the entertainment wasn't bad but more chairs should be made available as we never found an empty chair even as regards deck chairs you have to wake up early to get one, and also we never did!
No value for money
Not worth the money. When we arrived the rep. at the airpor told us that they were overbooked and that we had to stay somewhere else for a night (with little childeren). We didn't accepted this and went off to villa tagora. After some discussion we found out that the management offers local citizens (tenerifians) a short all-inclusive break during the weekend and that was the reason that villa tagora was overbooked. After a while we however received our room. The morning ritual at the swimmingpool was outrageous. You have to get up at 7.30am to "claim" your spot at the swimmingpool and then wait another hour to fight for a matress. Way to many people in the hotel with to less space around the swimmingpool and not enough matresses. Entertainment was the worst I have ever seen (oke they had some personell problems). The dutch guy Bart was really fun but the spanisch girl (who actually runs the mini club) was only interested in spanisch childeren and can only talk spanisch. Another guy (I believe German) was so demotivated that it was not really a compelling invitation to join his program (Its more intesting to see the grass grow). Now the good news. The rooms are big enough (however don't expect airco; it's more a cold water cooling system). The cleaners are very polite to childeren. Food in the restaurant is fine and the waiters are very friendly. End result: no value for money and absolutely not a 4 star "all inclusive hotel" (3 at the max).
fantastic
this was my first trip abroad and thanks to the hotel and staff we had a fantastic holiday. We could find no fault from the minute we left stanstead to the minute we arrived back at stanstead the food was excellent the staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel was spotless. Thank you villa tagoro.
Absolutely brilliant
After reading other reviews i was a bit sceptic about the Hotel. But on arrival i discovered that the problems other people had mentioned did not occur. The food was brilliant a good variety and different every day. Both at the pool and indoor bars the service was quick and the staff did everything to ensure the holiday ran smoothly. The apartments were cleaned everyday and were very comfortable to stay in. The only downfall that i found to the apartment was the pool was very cold and could do with heating at this time of year, however the childrens pool was suitably warm. It is in a good location with only a short walk to the town and beachs. A terrific holiday and a hotel we will definately be returning to in the near future. I would recommend this hotel to anybody whether there looking for a fun filled or relaxing holiday.
memorable holiday
arrived at the villa tagora 14 jan for 1 weeks holiday.asked to change original room, allocated new one next day no problems after this . my wife and i had a great time ,food was great, spanish staff were excellent and so were the reps.definitely one of our better holidays
Lovely place, Lovely Staff
My Partner and I went to Villa Tagoro with our two children ages 9 and 10. in Dec 2004 We were not supposed to be going here initially as our accomodation was changed with only two days notice. This place is great. The food was good with plenty of choice and the staff are wonderfull, very helpfull and always smilling. The pool is very big and there is loads of entertainment on for the kids. Drinks are only free until 11pm but you can stock up on bottles of wine from the bar to last you all night. The only down side was the entertainment in the evening was a bit poor for the adults but did keep the kids entertained and it is quite a treck to find the nightlife in the town. I would highly recommend you try Harleys Bar for a meal if you fancy a night out, the food is brill and it has lots of old american cars outside. We stayed at Villa Tagoro for New Year and would highly recommend it as the staff go all out to make sure you have a good time, and you get nice weather too!!
Fabulous - Great family holiday
Myself and my family visited Villa Tagoro on the 12th November 2004 - we had a fabulous holiday and will return if we get the chance. Children and adults are entertained both day and night - although the night time entertainment is a bit butlinsish it kept us all entertained. It must be extemely difficult to entertain all the nationalities that visit the Villa Tagoro and I think the entertainment staff do themselves proud. My hubby is extremely fussy and he found the food to be fine and found something to eat at all times. The drinks were never limited and food was on the go at all times. Our apartments were spotless and our balcony was huge, all staff including Thomas Cook Staff could not do enough to help us when we stayed at the Villa Tagoro. Hopefully myself and my family will return to the Villa Tagoro in the very near future.
Never again
Arrived 6pm handed keys to find room ourselves. Dark and a mountain of steps with cases eventually found room. Pitch black no outside light on. Opened door and wished we hadnt. The lock fell out of the door. Managed to get in the room put the light on to be greeted with a foisty smell and looking at damp on the walls. We complained straight away and give the staff credit they found another room for us next day. Only slightly better. The food was cold ,tastless, repetitive and half the time we didnt know what it was. It was safer to stick to ice cream, or melon all week. Entertainment was ok as long as you have a tribe of kids and dont mind doing the birdy song every night or being conned into paying 10 euros for a photo with a parrot. This was our silver wedding and were not amused. The pool looked lovely until you stepped into it. The thermostat had gone and wasnt going to be fixed until the following week. Same went for the air conditioning, it was broken in the concert room. Same answer that it would be fixed the following week. Bear in mind that it was 27 degrees! The staff were very good however and the reps (thomas cook) you felt as though it went in one ear and out the other.
