What Can I Say,
This hotel was the best by far, dont listen to the smell around the pool and so on, there was not one thing i could complain about this hotel at all,
The rooms were brilliant, perfect size, lovely balcony, all clean and not 1 cockroach, and to go with this the maids were excellent at their job, they were making everything perfect and the service was everyday without fail!
The pool was amazing, it was clean, the water was pure, it had sections for everyone’s needs and I spent most of my time in there!
Both the pool bar and the show club bar were good! They had everything you need with all polite and mannered bar staff and all of it was clean!
As for reception, there service was perfect, 24hour anything you needed they would do and they were so friendly and easy to talk to it was unbelievable with good computers on offer to use including webcam!
The animation staff (reps) were fantastic, they were always trying to get involved and get people involved in anything fun and there entertainment was fun to watch, thanks to Ruud, Stefan, Tineke, Rob, and the crew!
Laying around the pool was easy, yes you had to go lay your towel on a sun bed early otherwise there weren’t enough but what place doesn’t! And they would always be there when you come back! With not 1 cockroach insight the place was just so relaxing!
And of course the food! There was never one bad thing on the stands! You could have a choice of 2 fresh meats/fish etc and the rest of the food including afters, baguettes and bread, and children’s menu was all cooked perfectly and was nice without fail every single night!
Also the supermarket and hairdressing service on sight was brilliant with cheap prices and loads on offer! Overall this place was amazing, so take it from me, don’t listen to the bad reviews, Go there, you’ll love it, and if you have children, this is the perfect place!
My travel were very good and had everything for everyone's needs! What a great holiday I had and what a great place!.

Overall, we can't complain about...

Mar 2007, Ms F Stansfield

Overall, we can't complain about Villa Tagoro. After having seen some of the very bad reviews, I had contacted our tour operator pre-departure, to ask that we didn't get a 'dungeon' room...
We didn't, ours was on the next floor up, so the immediate view of wire fencing, bin bags, rubble, car park, and blank wall of the new cinema/bowling/shopping centre was not quite as bad as it might have been.
However whilst building work is now completed - this new complex is not yet open - I think that when this new complex does open, it will be particularly disturbing for people in the room on this side of the Tagoro complex.

Other than that, the apartment was spacious, and clean, although dated, with a good sized patio area - room for table and chairs and two sun beds.... perfectly adequate for us.
Some of the apartments had huge gardens or patios. Great for afternoon sunbathing, especially if the pool area is busy. Air Con. included and worked well.
Food and drink was good, varied, with no limits on quantities. All of the staff were excellent... no understaffing, very efficient and pleasant.
I agree with other people's comments that a kettle would have been welcome.
The Pool water quality is checked daily, and this is the first time ever, that I have had to participate in a Fire Drill whilst on holiday, and I must say, it was very impressive...
Every one of the staff knew exactly what they had to do, and staff members had life-saving drill at the same time.
Don't expect sophisticated entertainment.... everything (other than the music) has to be translated into four languages, so patience is the key! But the entertainers and facilities for the kids are great.
Our 10-year old had a whale of a time, which meant we could relax and enjoy.
We would quite happily go back to Villa Tagoro, but only if a room away from the new complex could be guaranteed.

Feb 2007, Miss N Taylor

I was overall very impressed with Villa Tagoro. All of the staff from the manager to the cleaner were always pleasant and helpful and really work their socks off.
The food was very tasty with plenty of choice of English and foreign foods. My only gripe here was the dining room was very hot and could really do with better air conditioning.
The choice of drinks available for all inclusive was very good. You can have pretty much anything you would find in a local bar. A great choice of cocktails on offer too.
We stayed in a standard room which was clean but very basic. We had to buy a travel kettle as there is a small kitchen area in the apartment but no tea making facilities provided.
There was no remote for the TV but this was easily operated via the buttons and we had plenty of English channels at no extra charge.
The lack of hot water for a bath or shower was a minor inconvenience as this seemed to happen late at night or early in the morning.
The hotel complex and facilities and the food do deserve a 3 - 4 star rating but the accommodation probably a 2 - 3.
The entertainment team do work hard and appeal to the kids under 12 years but for teenagers and adults there’s not a great deal of entertainment. Personally if my kids are entertained then I'm happy.
My 9 year old made friends and enjoyed the shows but my teenager spent most of her time on the internet facilities provided at a cost of 4 euros per half hour.
Despite the few niggles Villa Tagoro is a great place for families and the staff are really lovely, so it’s a thumbs up from me.

Six of us, five adults and one six...
8 / 10
Feb 2007, Ms J R Bishop

Six of us, five adults and one six year old boy, have just returned from holiday at Villa Tagoro.
I was quite tentative about the holiday after reading some of the reviews on here. Luckily any fears were unfounded.
We all had a wonderful holiday. Yes I agree that not everything was one hundred percent perfect but the plusses overruled the minuses we felt.
Here is a quick list of the plus and minuses:-
Top ten pluses:-
Staff helpful and they man the reception 24 hours a day.
Majority of staff at the hotel speak perfect English.
We went all inclusive and found that the food was available all day and plentiful.
Restaurant staff work hard to keep tables clear and clean.
Entertainment team are a great crowd, who work very hard to keep everyone entertained day and night and there is something different to see every evening.
Pools were very clean.
The hotel is accessible to the local shops and beach and if you don’t want to walk there is the free bus or if you ask at reception, they will order you a taxi that will arrive quite quickly and prices are reasonable.
Rooms are large.
Maid service is extremely good they clean the rooms every day and change towels.
Bar staff all very jolly and welcoming.
Top ten minuses:-
Pools quite cold but I expect that to be because of the time of year.
No kettle in the rooms to make that all important early or late cuppa.
At the moment some rooms are being re furbished so seem to vary... for instance of the three rooms we had ours was nicely decorated but shower and bath were a little aged.
The shower was hard to regulate and the bath took ages to run, next room was newly re furbished but had no hairdryer installed yet, but work on the rooms is still in progress and these minuses were out weighed by plusses.
Unfortunately due to work going on around the complex the banging in rooms seems to begin around eight to half past. Looking on the bright side we were never late for breakfast
Pool tables were well used and you have to pay a deposit to get the cues from reception and they are in short supply
To use the TV you need a remote controller that you need to leave a deposit for. If you want TV programmes in your language you have to pay extra
The courtesy room that you can use before leaving is poor, just a little shower room I had tried to keep a room on for the day but was unable to and the courtesy room was not what I had expected
The first night in the room I left the door to the balcony open and a cockroach invited itself in. We quickly caught it and put it outside and had no more problems but ensured we kept the balcony door shut in the evening
At the evening meal if there is a large group of you, it may not be possible to all sit together if you go to meals late, men do have to wear long trousers at the evening meal.
This is my final minus and the one I found worst for my personal reasons.
The bar does not keep or supply bottled water. There is water available on lots of points around the area but if you want water in your room, you have to either remember to take an empty bottle to the restaurant or bar to fill it or buy bottled water nearby.
The mini market is open infrequently. I personally drink lots of water and found this to be very frustrating.
Overall we had a wonderful holiday, I have tried to put my minuses over to you as warnings of a few things but please do not let these put you off, just heed my warnings and be prepared.
Most of all have a wonderful time.

Let me start from the beginning. As...

Jan 2007, Mr L Connolly

Let me start from the beginning. As soon as we entered Villa Tagoro we were met with the friendly reception staff, who couldn’t do enough to help us. When we were incorrectly told (by our “rep” form the holiday company who was useless) about a fireworks display for Christmas, the reception staff were straight on the phone to the organizers to see what was going on, only to find our “rep” told us the wrong day. Every time we walked though reception they were always smiling and always said “Ola!”.
When we got to our room we were surprised at how large the room was and how clean it was. There were only two of us but there was enough room for four people, with a kitchen, table, living area, bathroom and bedroom. Although the view weren’t great (being that we overlooked the tennis court), we could see past this and to be honest we weren’t going to be sitting outside on the balcony much anyway. Who would spend there whole holiday sitting on their rooms balcony?! The room was so clean, with the floors and bathroom cleaned and the beds made everyday I was extremely impressed.
The restaurant was something that I was quite worried about before going after reading what it said on this site. But the food was pretty good. It was amazing and sometimes was really hot but was nice. There was every type of food going, and as for those who couldn’t make a “balanced meal” I suggest next time you have a look at what’s on offer before going round everything and piling your plate high! The meat and the fish cooked by the chef at the front of the restaurant were really nice. And for desserts you really could have what ever you wanted.. yum! Food was always cooked properly and presented well.
The pool and pool bar area a really nice place to sit. Although the pool wasn’t heated, it did heat up throughout the day. It was great to sit by the pool with a drink in the sun. The villa surroundings were just beautiful. When reading that there was a “vomit” smell at the pool (once again on this website) I was even more apprehensive about going. But there was defiantly no vomit smell, so I haven’t got a clue what these people are talking about. The waiters at the bar were always smiling and happy to serve you whatever you wanted, accept one who was a bit shy and only cracked a smile once, but he wasn’t rude and always served what you asked for. We found him quite comical. As for the drink they really have no measurement out there and they give you so much alcohol. The cocktails are fab! As for the beer I must highlight the Dorado tastes as good as any beer in Britain.
The entertainment which we watched almost every night isn’t as bad as it is described on here. The entertainment team work so hard, and if you have kids they will love it. They made us laugh so much and were really friendly. Once the entertainment team left at half nine the rest of the entertainment was really cheesy and probably just what you’d expect from a holiday abroad, and was quite funny.
The hotel isn’t far from the beach probably about 10minutes walk. Yes you do have to cross a motorway but there is a bridge. After reading about the motorway on here it sounded as if you had to run across the equivalent of the M25 and dodge speeding cars. As for having to walk back to the hotel “up hill” may you reminded before booking a holiday to Tenerife that it’s built on a volcano and there are hills everywhere! The beaches are beautiful and if one night you feel like not having a meal in the hotel I suggest going to inside & out down on the beach.
This was me and my girlfriends first time on holiday abroad, and we had a great time over there, made all the better with the helpfulness of the hotel staff and the hotel itself. This hotel definitely earns it 4 stars. Its not quite 5 star, but its not far off. If the food was a bit hotter I think that would make it that little better. Other hotels in the area have hundreds of room and tower 5/ 6 storeys high. Villa Tagoro only has two storeys which make the hotel so beautiful.
Sorry for rambling on a bit but I feel that after reading what was said by others, I should clear up some items mentioned. Before leaving I was dreading my stay, now after going there I wish I never had to leave! All I have to finally say is “Gracias” to everyone at Villa Tagoro!

Jan 2007, Mrs J Silver

We arrived at this hotel and were immediately met with problems regarding the booking, which led to quite an unpleasant scene. Although initially resolved, we then went to our rooms and were very disappointed about the quality of this so called "4 Star" hotel. The room was shabby and dingy and not big enough to swing a cat, let alone accommodate 3 people. We decided to ignore all this and make do, as we had promised ourselves and our friends with whom we traveled, that we would grin and bear what we found and enjoy the sun and company.
However, when we saw the offering that was allegedly an all-inclusive lunch buffet - we finally flipped. It was not even worthy of being given to a dog for dinner!
Whilst waiting at reception to lodge our many complaints, we were informed by about 5 "inmates" not to stay, as most of them and those around them, had suffered some form of food poisoning during their stay.
Having complained very loudly, we were eventually transferred (via a free taxi) to the Hotel Noeli sur, which was fantastic. Whilst enjoying our week there, many other people were transferred from Villa Tagoro due to their dissatisfaction.
I would thoroughly recommend that the Villa Tagora Hotel be struck off by all the travel companies' lists, as it is not fit for inclusion as a 1 star hotel let alone a 4 star.

Jan 2007, Miss SJ Brown

Before going to Tenerife, I decided to look at the reviews that other people had left about Villa Tagoro and I was very disappointed.
However, I decided to go there with an open mind and have a good holiday. When I arrived, I didn’t have a clue where everybody else had visited, as I thought it was fantastic.
On arrival, the reception staff were very helpful and spoke fantastic English! Next we were shown to our accommodation and I was pleasantly surprised.
It had been thoroughly cleaned and had everything we could have wanted, clean towels, toiletries etc. Every day the room was cleaned very well and they even tidied up a little for us! Fresh towels were laid out and I was impressed.
The walk to the beach took 15 mins as expected. I read on here that there were hills and you had to cross a motorway to get to the beach...again I don't know why anybody would have a problem with this, as the bridge across the motorway is safe and is actually high above it, and to complain about a hill?
I’m sorry but nobody goes to Tenerife and not be expected to walk up and down hills anywhere you go, after all, it is built on a volcano!!
The area of the hotel was kept very clean. The staff very nice and helpful. The food was self service and there was a wide variety to choose from. As mentioned before people have complained about the meat being salty etc, however to me, this was nothing of the sort.
You can easily make yourself a nice meal out of what they provide, some nights I had steak and chips, others paella, others fish and salad.
The entertainment team tried very hard and some nights it was very entertaining to watch. Just because you are all inclusive doesn’t mean you have to sit there and watch it!
Overall, this was the best holiday I have been on and I would go back there for my next holiday!

Jan 2007, Mr C Bacon

Just returned from a week at the Villa Tagoro. Weather great, first impressions of hotel not fantastic, definitely not a 4* operation.
Food ok always fresh plenty of it but quite repetitive but always something there to have. Breakfast was the best fresh fruit, cereals, full English everyday with fried eggs!

Hotel generally clean, around pool bar not so great dark and dingy, snacks bit dodgy area smelt of stagnant water!

Accommodation needs updating beds rock hard and on wheels ok if your room is not in the dungeon (ground floor) very dark, but could not fault the cleaning service everyday.
If you can afford to pay the extra supplement suggest you book the SUPERIOR room on top floor.
Entertainment dire! Ok if you have small children (2-6yrs) but not if you have teenagers like us! Kid’s entertainment goes on till 9.30pm every night and drives you mad, there is no where else to go unless you sit in your room!
We tended to walk down to playa Fanabe sea front to local bars with professional entertainers! Would have been nice to have a comfortable bar with background music instead of garden plastic tables and chairs! No comfort.
Staff very pleasant. There is a games room but it seemed to close in the evenings and everything had to have a 20euro deposit (pool cues, table tennis etc).
If you go out for the day you can ask for a packed lunch that was a great saving with a family.
All in all we still enjoyed our week, the weather makes all the difference. We are used to 4/5* holidays and if you accept this is only a 3* you get what you pay for make the most of it!

Fantastic holiday, did not want for...

Jan 2007, Mrs S Atkins

Fantastic holiday, did not want for anything. Hotel staff very helpful and the entertainment staff brilliant.
They have a kiddies club, all day activities for adults and children.
The pool bar opened at 11.00 till 8.00 p.m. breakfast was 7.30 till 10.00 lunches 12.30 till 2.00 and in the afternoon at 4.00 cake and ice cream.
Evening meal 6.30 - 10.00 this you could not fault plenty of variation cooked to how you liked it, and sweets to die for, especially new year’s eve.
The apartments have TV telephone kitchen b/bar full bathroom with hairdryer and shower nice and clean.
I was apprehensive after reading other reviews but I think you have to go for yourself to see everybody is different.
On the whole brilliant holiday entertainment was ok could have been better but they worked really hard, but when you have good company good accommodation food, and weather, fabulous looking for this Xmas possibly 14 days this time.

Hi all please take note. We visited...
1 / 10
Nov 2006, Mrs E Nicholson

Hi all please take note. We visited the Villa Tagoro in July this year after booking our holiday on teletext. After discussing our holiday requirements with the telephone rep, the Villa Tagoro came highly recommended to us.
We booked straight away as it sounded perfect. Following the booking and feeling excited about our impending holiday we decided to read some of the reviews on the hotel we were due to visit.
Oh how I wish we had done this before making the booking! The reviews were terrible! We called back only twenty minutes later to discuss our concerns. We were assured by them that the rep herself had visited the Villa Tagoro and it was lovely!
Still, we were not convinced and asked if we could cancel, of course we could, at a cost of two hundred pounds! We couldn't afford to lose all that money so the booking had to stand. We decided to go with an open mind and prepared to form our own opinions.
On arrival we were allocated one of the notorious dungeon rooms, terrible, no view, and no daylight. We went back to reception straight away and asked for another room. No rooms were available so for that night at least we had to stay put. The next morning we were at reception (along with a lot of other people), demanding another room.
We were allocated another room and it came as no surprise to the reception staff who were on shift that day, as we later found out that most new arrivals are allocated these awful rooms. Now at least we thought, maybe our holiday won't be so bad after all. Wrong! Where do I begin? It was all so bad, bad, bad...
To tell you everything would take many pages, so in a nutshell I shall try and fill you in on what I feel are the most important issues.
Accommodation: Poor, sheets on bed not changed in two weeks, headboard hanging off the wall, mould in bathroom, no kitchen equipment , very basic unlike any other four star hotel we have ever stayed in.
Food: Terrible, fish fingers for breakfast or if you don't fancy that try last night's veg, broccoli, croquette potatoes, we all love that first thing don't we? Oh, I must not forget to tell you about the lovely waiter who screams orders at you telling you where you can and cannot sit, of course he is doing you a favour anyway giving you a lovely breakfast of such delicacies.
Entertainment: Well what can I say? They tried their best! Whoopa!!! A favourite word that is screamed around the complex at a million decibels! You will join in if you want to or not! Take my advice and jump in a taxi to the nearest bar (some distance away) at approximately 8pm, it is safe to return anytime after 11pm.
Bar and Pool area: Stinks of vomit! Some of the all-inclusive guests must have taken advantage of the opportunity to drink them selves in to a stupor but then felt the need to repay the hotels sickly sweet offerings by vomiting in various locations on the way back to their room! The smell around the pool area is unbelievable!
How can the hotel management not smell this? The alcohol served at the bar (eventually, you need an hour to queue) is dreadful, as we were all-inclusive that gave the bar staff the right to serve your drinks in any way they fancied as no money was exchanging hands, they were rude, flippant and inconsistent in their service.
Carlsberg need not feel threatened by the sickly sweet offerings of Dorado as it tasted like poo. As for my Bacardi, I think that was locally produced perfume! Visit duty free. Bring your own!
Location: Well, not as described, a very long walk from the beach across several busy roads and a motorway bridge. Remember, the way back is uphill to say the least... If you do not collapse with heat exhaustion! What bus service? Never arrived when we waited, taxi was our middle name and our holiday budget knew all about it!

I could go on! I am sure you have read enough and quite frankly I can't be bothered! Please take on board our experience at the Villa Tagoro. I wish I had not listened to the holiday company that told me only wondrous things about this hotel.
When I think about the money we parted with it makes me want to cry. Of course they can only apologise about our dreadful holiday experience, even a phone call from Tenerife asking for flights home were dismissed.
We have since written to the holiday company stating our grievance to no avail. This is no 4 star hotel, it's a no star hotel. We had no holiday rep and only a local telephone number that was never answered. I rest my case.

Having now complained to the tour...
4 / 10
Oct 2006, Mr D Lehan

Having now complained to the tour operator about the resort it only leaves us to say a few things as follows: VT is under staffed and poorly managed. Food was repetitive day after day and mainly cold or even under-cooked. Queues to restaurant and bar are not acceptable. Smells around bar area are foul.
Entertainment was poor apart from the kids club but as we had teen-agers there was nothing for them to do. Word of advice, if you want a sun bed for the day go out at 7am and lay your towel on one just like others and if you want a table with chairs outside for the evening then follow the same procedure but using family members as your tool to reserve. Lighting around most areas is poor.
Apart from the above the reception staff are helpful and fulfill the role of a good hotel, its a shame the rest of it does not meet this standard! It just simply boils down to one thing, poor management.
If you are going I would suggest this is more suited for those perhaps on a self catering basis or families that are just generally not fussed by any of the above.
We are not a family who go on holiday to find problems, all of the above are true statements and for those who have generally enjoyed their stay just got lucky.

When we booked this holiday we...
1 / 10
Oct 2006, Mr T Smart

When we booked this holiday we checked the reviews which weren’t very encouraging, but we went with an open mind as everybody’s views can differ, when we entered our accommodation the smell of dampness was disgusting and mould around the bath didn’t help, with me having asthma I decided to ask for another room.
The reception wasn’t very helpful at all, this was 1:30am Wednesday and were told to come back on the Friday as they had no other rooms available, I wasn’t happy so decided to keep at them over the next few days as the room was affecting our holiday(not a great start I thought), on the Thursday I spoke to an English family and it transpired that they had been allocated our room on the Tuesday morning on their arrival and had been moved to another room on the basis of the same complaint.
This was starting to stink just like the room, so I went back to reception on the Friday and asked for a move and was told again no rooms, for gods sake what is going on here I thought, so I asked to speak to the manager, which I did later that day and she was really helpful and we got our move, (funny that no rooms two hours ago), but really they shouldn’t have bothered this room was ten times worse, mould around the bath, leak under the sink, ants all over the place, Jacuzzi didn’t work, so we complained to the rep and all these were sorted apart from the mould, but later that night my sons bed collapsed so we complained again and got a new bed, and the next night that bed collapsed (I am in hell here I though from bad to worse what next) we decided to make the most of it as the hassle of moving again was too much.
Also like to add our sheets weren’t changed at all the whole week we were there, I will just finish off with a list of all complaints in the week I was there, broken tiles around the pool area, no pool attendant which resulted in excess pools of water around pool area (kids slipping everywhere), no life guard, snack area stinking, under staffed in all areas of complex resulting in long wait for drinks at bar, under staffed in dining area, sun bed situation beyond belief, poor lighting around complex at night, general cleanliness of whole complex very poor.
This was booked as a four star complex, I wouldn’t give it one star. The whole place should be bulldozed and re-built. I would just like to add that I am not the type of person who goes on holiday and looks for things to complain about (you know who you are) but this place was just beyond belief, even a blind man would not stay in this hotel, so if you have booked this place I really do feel sorry for you, cancel it now, and if you are going to book it, please take my advice I wouldn’t send my dog to this place.
