" When we booked this holiday we... "

When we booked this holiday we checked the reviews which weren’t very encouraging, but we went with an open mind as everybody’s views can differ, when we entered our accommodation the smell of dampness was disgusting and mould around the bath didn’t help, with me having asthma I decided to ask for another room.

The reception wasn’t very helpful at all, this was 1:30am Wednesday and were told to come back on the Friday as they had no other rooms available, I wasn’t happy so decided to keep at them over the next few days as the room was affecting our holiday(not a great start I thought), on the Thursday I spoke to an English family and it transpired that they had been allocated our room on the Tuesday morning on their arrival and had been moved to another room on the basis of the same complaint.

This was starting to stink just like the room, so I went back to reception on the Friday and asked for a move and was told again no rooms, for gods sake what is going on here I thought, so I asked to speak to the manager, which I did later that day and she was really helpful and we got our move, (funny that no rooms two hours ago), but really they shouldn’t have bothered this room was ten times worse, mould around the bath, leak under the sink, ants all over the place, Jacuzzi didn’t work, so we complained to the rep and all these were sorted apart from the mould, but later that night my sons bed collapsed so we complained again and got a new bed, and the next night that bed collapsed (I am in hell here I though from bad to worse what next) we decided to make the most of it as the hassle of moving again was too much.

Also like to add our sheets weren’t changed at all the whole week we were there, I will just finish off with a list of all complaints in the week I was there, broken tiles around the pool area, no pool attendant which resulted in excess pools of water around pool area (kids slipping everywhere), no life guard, snack area stinking, under staffed in all areas of complex resulting in long wait for drinks at bar, under staffed in dining area, sun bed situation beyond belief, poor lighting around complex at night, general cleanliness of whole complex very poor.

This was booked as a four star complex, I wouldn’t give it one star. The whole place should be bulldozed and re-built. I would just like to add that I am not the type of person who goes on holiday and looks for things to complain about (you know who you are) but this place was just beyond belief, even a blind man would not stay in this hotel, so if you have booked this place I really do feel sorry for you, cancel it now, and if you are going to book it, please take my advice I wouldn’t send my dog to this place.

" I came back form Tenerife last week,... "

I came back form Tenerife last week, after a fourteen night stay. I read up about it before we went, to try and get a sense of what it would be like, and the reviews were varied, so I was a bit dubious to say the least.

We got through the airport and went to meet our rep to get the bus to resort. We were the only drop off at the hotel so we got seen to pretty quickly, we could hardly understand what the guy on reception was trying to say, and the other lady was quite rude to me throughout the holiday. He then tried to give us directions to our room, which led us on a wild goose chase around the complex, if only he had said down the stairs and take a left we would have found it 30mins earlier. The room layout is really confusing.

When we got to our room we were surprised to see that we had been given a ground floor room, (so we thought), when we had asked for a high room. We were pleased with the size of it though as well as the cleanliness of it. The main problem was yet to come, the disco bar was situated under our room, and went on from 11pm-4am, which was fine for the people who were having a good time, why shouldn’t they! But the people running it didn't seem to consider the people who were just above them as they turned the music up on an hourly basis. By the fifth day of complaining, it finally stopped, and this wasn't solely because of me, I later found out that the two apartments next to us had complained and also other people.

When I was unpacking one of the wall lights fell off above my bed, this took 5 days to fix! Our rep Sam was really good, she always said hello and asked if we were ok and always made time to come and talk to us.

We did like the restaurant and thought they tried their best to put on some good food. The only criticism I would have is that when they cooked the meat on the hot plates they seemed to drown it in rock salt, and they always used the same tongs to handle cooked meat and raw meat.

The pool area was nice enough, although you had to make sure you were up in time to reserve a sun bed, otherwise you had it. I seen a few arguments between people over them. I think the best part of the holiday had to be the entertainment tem. They tried really hard and tried their best to get everyone involved and always seemed happy, even though they worked from 10am-11pm!

Overall it was ok but definitely wasn't worth the £1700 we paid.

" WOW! this hotel is fantastic, it... "

WOW! this hotel is fantastic, it looks a giant villa (hence the name), only two blocks high so no vertigo, the pool and surroundings are perfect, and cleaned every morning, very first thing, they were there at 7 am when we went. The food and drink is fabulous and there is always something for everyone, even the fussiest amongst us.

The entertainment team deserve a special mention, they work their behinds off to keep everyone happy, they even put on the shows of a night, lets just say Grease is fantastic! I'd thoroughly recommend this hotel, and i will be going back!

" I have just come back from one of the... "

I have just come back from one of the best holidays I have ever been on! The hotel was set out perfectly, so it was a nice site to see, not a high rise eye sore! The staff were all friendly, and always said hello at any time of day or night!

Everywhere was always spick and span!

The bar staff were funny and the entertainment staff really encouraged everyone to join in and take part in the ample activities supplied!

The food wasn't all that varied, but was still nice and always plenty and refilled!

The room was huge and cool, there were only 2 of us and we had so much living space!
Our Thomas Cook rep helped out all of the time and the pool was great!

I can't fault anything and would go again, in fact we are planning our next one now! I recommend that people go despite the poor reviews - don't let them put you off!

" After reading all these bad reviews,... "

After reading all these bad reviews, I have to say that they are all rubbish.

I’m a girl of 14 and I recently stayed at this hotel for 1 week. The food was excellent, the rooms were spacious and very tidy, the staff were really friendly, the complex was lovely with mountains all around, and the entertainment was just the best.

The rooms and restaurant were all air conditioned, so the people who said they weren’t must've been talking about a different hotel. The staff were really helpful and friendly and spoke really good English. The pool was so clean and really big, and in the mornings all the cleaners were out cleaning the pool area for hours. The bars were always useful, with British barmen serving you, and also the majority of the entertainment team were English.

The activities were the best, and it was always a good laugh to watch the shows at night. It was definitely the best holiday I have ever been on, and I have been abroad 8 times but Villa Tagoro was definitely the best. I recommend it to everyone. I enjoyed it and didn’t want to leave to go back to school. And you may not trust my opinion as I’m only 14, but it was the best, all my family said so, and we are going back next year. Don’t listen to all these other bad reviews.

Villa Tagoro was the best! 10 out of 10! Xx

" Accommodation: The room was spacious... "

Accommodation: The room was spacious with plenty of storage. Beds were comfy, large balcony and air con. Room cleaned and towels changed daily.

The bathroom decor was in need of attention as was the kitchen area. The 'locks' on the two balcony doors were very poor. The first time we entered our room we were greeted by a cockroach! However this was the only one we came across.

Facilities: Reception area was good and was always manned with helpful staff.
The pool area looked nice although we didn't make use of it. The pool bar was well staffed and well stocked!

The restaurant was a bit hit and miss. It was clean, tidy and the ample food was well presented. However, the hot food was never hot enough and foods that you would expect to be served chilled, i.e. milk, were not cold enough.

The meat/fish that was cooked on the grill was so salty it was crunchy at times! There was always plenty of dishes to choose from although sometimes it was hard to create a balanced meal. At lunch times there was never any cold meats/cheeses, only 'hot' food. The evening snacks seemed to be popcorn and olives every night, why no crisps or peanuts?!

The entertainment was very poor and repetitive, even for the kids. However, you had to sit and endure it to take advantage of the free drinks!

Staff: Very helpful and pleasant and all spoke reasonable English.

We found the walk from Villa Togoro down to the beach very unpleasant. The roads were very busy and there was a large amount of construction/road works going on. It was about a 15 minute walk to the beach, which was all uphill on the way back!

The beach itself was nice and clean, although a bit stony in areas.

" We stayed at this place for 2 weeks 3... "

We stayed at this place for 2 weeks 3 days was long enough. The food was very poor by the end of the second week we all decided enough was enough and went out for are meals. The maids tried there best this is the only complaint we do not have.

We asked for a room on the second floor with sunny balcony over looking the pool, what we got was ground floor not much sun overlooking the main road, we were told by hotel staff we had to pay extra for what we asked for this did not please us as we had already paid £3.000 for 2 adults 2 children.

Beware if you do have children you have to go over the motorway on a very busy road to get to the beach. If you are Spanish and going to this hotel don’t worry you will have a great time and get everything you asked. Brits beware.

" We have just arrived back from this... "

We have just arrived back from this hotel after a 10 day visit staying in a superior room, (I don't think so) and we did not get what the read up specifies, first of all, this hotel is classed as 4 stars and of which you pay for the extra stars, no way, this hotel was a 3 star and it should be reviewed by all tour operators.

The brief said the rooms had air conditioning, but it dose not work as the air it blows out is the same as the outside temperature. It also states piped music, not that its important, but it still did not work. We had a Jacuzzi, which worked for one day and when we reported it, it was fixed the day before we came home.

The pool is too small for the amount of guests at the hotel and there are not enough sun beds for all guests around the pool. The brief says you can not reserve beds in the morning, but what you get is bed wars, we saw many arguments between different nationalities, causing animosity between all guests. You had to be at the pool side at 8.30am to get a sun bed, or you did not get one (beds are chained up and unlocked at 9am). This also applies to the chairs in the evening, people were reserving a place by hanging there towels over seats to guarantee a seat. This was not a pleasant experience, it was worse than parking for the Christmas sales and good luck to you when you join in the bed wars at this hotel.

The food was not very good, lots of under cooked meat, with raw meat next to cooked meat, so be careful, or you could get ill. This could have been due to the volume of people going in at any one time, some salads were not washed and were dirty.

The food was more or less the same all the time we were there, but generally it was not very nice. The pool bar area smells awful, very unpleasant in the heat. The entertainment team work very hard, they work from 10.AM, until 11.PM, the entertainment was a bit boring, as it all is very similar every night, but they probably get a poor budget for doing it.

If you want a good hotel in this area I would recommend you pay a little extra a visit the Bahia Principe, this hotel is really fantastic, read the reviews, you will not be disappointed.

" Villa Tagoro is simply the worst... "

Villa Tagoro is simply the worst place where we ever been. If you are hoping for a relaxing holiday, do not go there.

The staff is unpleasant, especially at the reception and restaurant. You can have dinner until 21h30 but if you go to the restaurant after 20h30, probably you will not find meat or fish. The food is disgusting! The responsible person at the restaurant is very impolite.

The free bus service does not work very well. Be prepared to wait! We had to wait for the bus, near the beach (+/-400m), from 12h30 (at the timetable) until 13h20, with a lot of sun. On the same day the bus service finished before schedule. You have to get up early to get a sun bed! At 9h00 you will not find any.

The kitchenette in our apartment was closed with screws. The reception clerk told us to wait from the next day to have it opened. Since my child could not eat the food from the restaurant (the health of my child is very important to me), my husband had to do it. The water was pouring from the kitchen sink. We stayed there for 7 days but this problem remained for the next guests.

" I stayed in the villa Tagoro for a... "

I stayed in the villa Tagoro for a week this June and it was fantastic, i want to go back! The staff at the hotel were very friendly and all made an effort to say hello to you.

The entertainment had me in stitches some nights and other nights it wasn't so great, but saying that I give it. To the reps who do it all themselves as well as all the daytime activities. The food was the main reason why I gave the hotel an 8 rating instead of a ten as i found the food to be plain and not very appetising. I also have a 1year old son who absolutely loved it with the pool and the evening entertainment that they have for the children.

The room was also great, cleaned every day with fresh towels and sheets and the balcony was massive great for the kids. I definitely recommend it for families, its the best holiday of this type which I have been on (and I’ve been on a few). I'm definitely going back next year!

" After reading some bad reviews on... "

After reading some bad reviews on this hotel I was having my doubts but these all disappeared when I reached the resort.

The complex was really well laid out and the rooms were large with a very large balcony too. The rooms were also cleaned daily. Whilst being sat by the pool you also notice a lot of maintenance going on from painting to sweeping steps. This is definitely a hotel that is looked after!

The food was the same as you would expect at any other all inclusive hotel. It wasn't always fantastic but there was always a good choice so you wouldn't go hungry. Food was also available all day.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The entertainment was your usual hotel entertainment which may seem a bit cheesy, although you could tell the 'animation team' really enjoyed what they were doing and gave their all every time. If you have children they will always have activities to keep them occupied. They also offer activities for the adults should you wish to take part!

Overall a good holiday and would definitely consider going back anytime.

" The hotel was clean and tidy, maid... "

The hotel was clean and tidy, maid service every day and they know how to clean!

The all inclusive option is great I only spent money on duty frees and nothing else, there is a wide range of drinks however the food was not as good as expected but it was ok with food available for most of the day.

The entertainment was fantastic and the staff work really hard to make sure you enjoy yourself, I even got to hold a 20ft snake one night!

I am definitely going again.

" I was shocked and horrified by some... "

I was shocked and horrified by some of the other comments made about this hotel. This was my second visit and have already booked for next year.

Hotel was faultless (apart from the evening entertainment which was no worse than anywhere else in Tenerife hotels).

The room was spotless, cleaned every day, clean towels every day. The staff were friendly, helpful and spoke great English. The facilities were excellent, plenty of sports activities and swimming pool was spotless.

The restaurant was hot, but the food was plentiful with a good choice every meal. Snacks were available throughout the day in the pool bar (except during actual mealtimes), and free drinks including alcohol for 12 hours a day.

Ok the hotel is the other side of the 'motorway' (a dual carriageway by English standards) but a 10 minute walk downhill to the shops and a taxi back - or use of the FREE hotel bus service - was not a bind and who needed the beach when there was a fantastic swimming pool on your doorstep?

" I should have taken on board the... "

I should have taken on board the comments from previous visitors of this hotel.

I was very disappointed in this hotel. When I booked I was informed it was a 4* so I thought it would be reasonable. However, when we got there I found out they lost a star last year. I think they should have lost 2. I booked for AI for 3 nights for 2 adults and 1 child for £188. Ya, it was a great bargain.

However, when we got there the room was horrible the sheets on the sofa were filthy I would never have sat and relaxed during my holiday. We looked out the balcony and there was absolutely no view it was night and it was pitch dark, I'm sure people in prison have better views. There was also no porter to help move the luggage into the room, we had to do it ourselves. Well my husband had to do it, cause I can't lift heavy things. Poor hubby!

The hotel is also located on the otherwise of the motor way and you have to cross a narrow bridge to get to the beach side. Not convenient at all, especially with a young child.
Very loud music was the entertainment in the evening, okay if you like the song Aga Do..do...do.... (no thanks!)

We decided to go check the food out in the restaurant. Well the fruit was gone bad, it wasn't fresh at all. The food didn't look appetizing there were some potatoes but they weren't cooked properly. I then wanted to get my child a drink and I went to find some juice....there was none, only fruit squashes full of sugar. It was so sweet I told my child I rather she drink coke then the juice cause it probably had less sugar.

Also, the restaurant temperature was so uncomfortable, we couldn't even sit there for more then 15 minutes. At that point we were at the hotel for a whole 30 min and decided to check out and find another hotel. And we did, we found an amazing 5* and the company I booked Villa Tagoro with paid the cost of the Bed and Breakfast at the new hotel. That was what I call service!

" Paid £399 All inclusive for a week.... "

Paid £399 All inclusive for a week. Excellent value for money. Clean. Staff brilliant- very Smart. For the amount of food and drink we consumed - don’t know how they did it.

The only money we spent was on duty frees, and the occasional drink on the way back from shopping. Of course there were faults - entertainment was really naff in the evening - so bad it was amusing!! Went 2* self catering last year with less than adequate accommodation and probably spent about £700 all in. If you want a cheap, chilled out, lazy holiday - great. First time we went All Inclusive.

Will go for a 5* next time for the extras. Will only consider an All Inclusive holiday again. Kwik Travel I would recommend. Debbie even told us how much the taxi fare would be from the Airport - she was wrong - it was cheaper!!! She knew the area and was really helpful. Will go back to them next year.
