Food and cleanliness great, but other aspects disappointing. Patio tables and chairs in 90% of the bar, and the others tatty. Very little entertainment before 10.00 pm. No lounge to sit in, in fact no quiet areas. Help yourself bar of soft drinks near the small pool not available. Staff very helpful and polite but the restaurant was very stuffy and hot.
Information sheets said towels will be removed from sun loungers if not in use, but this did not happen and many beds were booked by some before they had had breakfast. The breakfast bar in our room was covered in stick on fabric, making it look old and scruffy. We certainly would not return.

Read all these reviews before I went in November, was a little worried until I got there. The people who hated the hotel need to get out more. Me and my family, 2 boys aged 9 and 4, loved it.
The rooms were massive and cleaned every day. The pool bar and the pub were brill and staff very friendly and polite. The entertainment team were amazing and couldn’t do enough for the kids (and adults too), and after only 2 days knew both my kids names off by heart, which impressed my youngest.
The food was fine and varied could do with more choice at the kids buffet though. Would recommend this hotel to any family as we are returning again next year, but for a fortnight instead of a week, we liked it that much.

We visited the resort during the half term break and found that as this was our first package holiday as a family the whole week was excellent. The reception staff were friendly and efficient and explained fully the resort services (safe, tv options etc).
Our apartment was quiet and had a sea view which was great, there were a few cobwebs under the furniture but nothing to get upset about.
The restaurant staff were friendly and very efficient and the food was varied and always hot and of a good quality. The free drinks were fine, San Miguel for the beer drinkers and Coke machines for the kids and in the evening at the main bar you even got your beer in a pint pot and yes you could have as much as you wanted (At the small pool the drinks were all self service, how could you go wrong!).
The cleaning staff were excellent the room was serviced every day and the pool areas were cleaned by a small army of cleaning staff every morning.
As for the entertainment, yes they mimed to tracks but so do the Spice Girls and most other groups you see on the telly and they get paid a fortune! Take the entertainment for what it is, a hard working group of young people there to keep the kids happy which they seemed to do.
Yes we have booked to go back next year and if it is as good as this year we won't be complaining.

Mediocre hotel- bit shabby and they're a bit tight. Would go there again if it was super cheaps. Not bad if you just want to relax and can afford to eat out and get cabs into town.
Good Points:
Booze was not watered down and they were v.friendly with the portions.
Very Clean.
Food that was there was nice, fresh and generally plenty of.
Free Bus was pretty reliable and handy.
Bad Points:
Its 70's/80's and could do with an overhaul.
Entertainment team were really poor, they were trying their best but they had no budget and old disco equipment etc and it was dire. For the under 5's fine but adults go elsewhere. They had a snake man in one night and some Brazilian acrobatics hired in and they were both really good but the rest of the week, go elsewhere!
Location is miles away from any nightlife/shops and you have to cross a motorway to get there.
Not enough sunbeds for the number of visitors and the hotel is crammed into a small space.
Broken air con in the restaurant bit sweaty midday, and the food was very samey. I’ll eat anything and there was chips and pizza and bits for the kids but I don’t think I could of gone two weeks.
There was talk of "Dungeon Rooms" and I was a bit wary of that and I’m not sure if we got one. The room was dark and had wooden slat windows that opened about an inch. The rooms were long and the sun came from the patio at the other end. If these were the dungeon rooms there not that bad as I was generally impressed with the room.
What I was NOT impressed with was the broken air con and the pool of water you had to jump to get into the room. The toilet was also broken. They did fix these things the next day but they are BASIC things that should have been put right before we were put in the room.
I’ve been to about 20 3* 4* resorts across the globe and this was not a great one. If you’re going to Tenerife I would recommend the RIU resort down the road, both the RIU hotels I have been to have been fantastic!

Stayed at the Villa Tagora for 2 weeks in August. We were allocated what is known as a
'Dungeon Room' so were a bit nervous but as it turns out it was excellent.
Extremely spacious very clean and very private, ok so there wasn't a great view but who wants to spend 2 weeks in a bedroom and it was very convenient for the pool during the day and close to all other facilities.
Food was great loads of choice and no complaints from us although I did hear others moaning in typical 'brits abroad fashion’.
Pool area great very large and great for kids of all ages. Sunbeds not a problem kept locked up till 8.30 then unleashed onto the usual pack of hounds glaring at each other all reminds me a bit of gun fight at the ok corral ha-ha, but after years of package holidays just the norm and quite amusing really.
Thomas Cook reps extremely good friendly and approachable not pushy because they didn’t need to be they seemed to sell the excursions and trips effortlessly by just being charming and informative. We attended the reps night out which was great fun very entertaining and gave you a good opportunity to meet others from the hotel and others in resort. We also took the Mount Teide jeep safari which was excellent. Freebird 1 catamaran cruise which was amazing and yes we saw dolphins and whales! Finally visited loro parc which was fabulous.
Staff at villa Tagora friendly and pleasant in particular restaurant staff.
Finally entertainment erm, well young group of Dutch students bless they are very enthusiastic and worked very hard but sadly not very entertaining (strange sense of humour and a bit near the knuckle for their main audience which is the kids).
Visiting entertainers parrots, snakes and funny singers on our last night there was a group of young African dancers/acrobats who were awesome I was glad we saw them as they were very talented.
The hotel is located at 15 min walk away from shops bars and restaurants and there are loads of beaches to choose from all are lovely Fanabe is closest to the hotel although troya was my fave.
Would recommend this hotel and Playa de las America to anybody.

Not sure what all the complaints are about. Went with worries after reading the bad comments, but have to say that the food was good, not great. The entertainment was great for my 3 year old and ok afterwards, although my wife didn't like the snake show!!
The pool area was clean and the rooms were great.
The reception staff couldn't do enough for us when we did have queries.
BE CAREFUL! If travelling with elderly parent as we were - it is up a hill and an electrical scooter isn't powerful enough so we had to hire a wheelchair, which isn't the easiest way to travel to the centre of Adeje.
Would go again, and would recommend to anyone under 50 and parents with kids.

Everything you expect from an all inclusive hotel. Staff were fantastic, especially with the kids, definitely going back.
Food was good, especially if you like Pork!!! Plenty of pork in different guises! Food was abundant at meal times and although not Gordon Ramsay, was nice. There was always plenty for me to eat and I'm quite a fussy eater (hate veg & salad!). Kids tried out lots of new things as they could always have something else if they didn't like it!
Pool was great however is extremely deep, watch the drop! Not over crowded at all, and it was the middle of August. Sunbeds are plentiful but so are the early birds and their towels!!
Kids entertainment program was varied through the day and mini disco was repetitive, as expected - great 4 kids though!
Adult entertainment was disappointing. They really could do with more(some) disco/karaoke/dancing action instead of silly skits by the kids entertainment team who mime along to songs (badly). So bad that you do cry with laughter!
Only local drinks available, but believe me, they are just as strong as the top brands!

I was slightly nervous about our choice once I'd read some of the reviews but was pleasantly surprised. It is classed as a 4* but I would say it was a very good 3*. The place is immaculately clean and in the mornings an army of staff were cleaning the pool area with disinfectant. Our room was also immaculately clean on arrival (24 hrs with 9 & 11 year old boys, it didn't stay that way for long!). Maids came in every day but one of our week stay. We were on the ground floor near the small pool which we used constantly. It isn't used by many and was great for the kids as they could splash as much as they liked and we could see them from our patio or should I say garden! We had a huge patio area and then double the size of the patio is a garden. There was also drinks (coke, fanta, sprite & beer on tap) at the small pool which you help yourself to.
If you go hungry at this place then you have only yourself to blame. I have an extremely fussy 11 year old and he always found something to eat. There is always a choice of fish or meat/chicken cooked in front of you plus many other dishes, rice, pasta, casseroles, potatoes in many ways and of course chips, ice cream that you helped yourself to which the kids thought was fantastic. We never had a problem getting drinks from either of the bars and there was a help yourself in the restaurant.
The entertainment was aimed at children until 9.45pm provided by the entertainment team at the hotel. Most nights there was some sort of outside entertainment brought in.
The hotel is quite a way from the beach and resort centre but there was a courtesy bus and taxis were cheap enough, about 5 euros to the beach at Porto Colon so not a problem for us but if you like the beach close to hand then this isn't the place for you.
Overall, we had a fantastic holiday and will definitely be going back next year!

I went with my 2 children for half term. I was worried after seeing the reviews but we had such a lovely time. We did book excursions but on other days we did not visit the beach as we never wanted to leave the pool. There were arranged water polo games for the older kids and a lovely kids club for the younger ones. The weather was lovely and although there was a shortage of sun beds on some days, I never went without one.
Rooms were large and airy and spotlessly clean as was the lovely spacious balcony with sun beds. We saw no cockroaches nor smelt any stale water or bad odours by the pool. In fact it was thoroughly washed down and cleaned every evening and morning.
Food was very good considering the amounts that they were catering for and the griddle meant that the meat was freshly cooked in front of you. The packed lunches they provided for you when you were out for the day were full and tasty with plenty of variety in the bags - fresh bread rolls, fruit, ham, cheese, yogurt, crisps, drink..., sometimes we would not take it all but store some in the fridge in the room for evening snacks as those were not brilliant.
What could have been better was if we had tea/coffee facilities in the room and if you didn't have to pay deposits and keep receipts for everything that you need. The TV and safe was especially galling to have to pay extra for.
All staff were very helpful and polite and spoke perfect English, amongst other languages.
We will certainly visit Villa Tagoro again.

Having read the mixed reviews for this "4 star" complex we went with an open mind. Upon arrival all seemed ok, we had heard about the "dungeon" rooms and when we checked in that’s what we had, although we had no complaints about this as it was nice and quiet and a substantially large room for a family of four.
Good points - the entertainment team - excellent with the kids in the kids club and at the mini disco, couldn’t fault any one of them. Yes they were the entertainment at night as well but put on a different show every night of the week.
On the one night they had off we had the oldest crooner we'd ever seen. None of the crowd showed any enthusiasm and he even admitted the second week that it was "hard work" - says it all really.
Now for the bad bits:
Tiles around the pool - broken, chipped, loose, cracked, lost count of the number of them we counted.
Corridor outside our room, ceiling covered in mould with water dripping onto the white ceramic tiled floor, various lights broken which gave shadows which meant you couldn’t see the pool of water on the floor until my son slipped on it and went flat on his back. The hotel sorted the leak out by placing a bath towel on the floor to cover the wet patch.
Food - not a bad option some nights, other nights on the grill meat with blood oozing out of it, not really suitable for a nine year old child who loves their meat. My husband lived on chips with cheese on. Food around the bar - lovely option but cold within ten minutes of it being put out. Ice cream available from 4.30pm in the afternoon - until the 4 tubs put out were emptied then that was it! Thank god for Netto across the road.
One outside toilet for each male and female for a fairly packed hotel at night, often blocking up and not flushing in the ladies.
Bar - lovely pleasant bar staff, even though at the very most there were only 2 of them - often just one working while the other collected glasses, resulting in LENGTHY queue's so line them up while you can because it could take up to 25 minutes to get served.
Building works for the whole two weeks - starting off on the day of arrival with a little bit of drainage maintenance work around the edge of the pool, certain area's blocked off - we thought we can live with that. Painting the walls of the pool, while kids played in the pool. Then came the third or fourth day and the "real" building work started on a row of apartments that were being sold off as time-share (so we were advised by one of the entertainment team) - hammering, kango drills, tiles coming off the walls, banging, more drilling. The area was screened by a "willow/bamboo" screen which did nothing to drown out any of the noise. This carried on the whole holiday until the end of our holiday when we woke up on the day of departure to find half the pool area had been cut off by the "willow/bamboo" screening. Probably 500 plus guests with space for about 75-100 sun beds at the very most.
All in all, would never ever return - definately not a four star, maybe a 1 star at the very best - we spoke to a couple who had been there twice previously and they said since their last visit in 2006 they could not believe how much it had deteriorated.
Videos and photos taken of the building works which the tour operator said were "minimal/minor".

I would recommend Villa Tagoro if you have a superior room as these are the best. The lower ones have smaller balconies and no jacuzzi bath but the underground ones have very dark corridors and just have a small terrace bit on the ground floor with no privacy and are very open.
I would say the food and drink were nice, entertainment staff were lovely, although only for small children really - bit boring for everybody else. Best to go out and about, which you don't want to do every night on all inclusive when paying all that money. Other staff though, especially reception staff were very off and things we reported, i.e. room not being cleaned as cleaner visited when we were still there at 9am, so just left towels and went, also things like faulty fridge doors, etc.. never got looked at. Our phone didn't work but not too bothered.
The main thing though we wanted was air conditioning so we could sleep comfortably and get ready without being too hot, but unfortunately wasn't effective. Thankfully at night, did get cooler and slept ok, and the rooms weren't too hot like some can be.
I must say the balconies were huge and very private, you got a table with 2 chairs and 2 sun loungers, so if no beds around the pool which was a nightmare some days was good to have your own space. On the whole though Costa Adeje is nice and our stay was good, just a few niggles. We did travel out slightly and I think I prefer Los Christianos, but had a good time nevertheless. We didn't have a holiday rep as this was booked separately for us through Instant Holidays, which was an excellent service and were told if any problems to call them anyway.

Like many others I was almost dreading visiting the Villa Tagoro after reading some of the reviews but no way is the place as awful as some make out.
The reception staff are brilliant and very helpful, the rooms are immaculately clean and spacious, and the food is what you'd expect for the price you pay for this Apart Hotel.
Breakfasts are by far the best meal of the day as you can get a full english or continental breakfast.
Lunch and dinner is plentiful and there is a good selection but to be perfectly honest it gets a bit repetitive. This wasn't a problem for us as we like to eat out and we budgeted for nice meals out a lot. In future I'll just do B&B, but for a family on a budget the hotel is acceptable for the price.
When we were at the hotel the only moaners were a large group of slobs in the mould of Wayne and Waynetta who resembled what you'd expect from Gorbels area of Glasgow. You know the sort. An example of them being how Waynetta couldn't resist mouthing off how "the food is F**king disgusting" for those in the vicinity to hear her highly intelligent views on meals. No doubt the slob clan were connoisseurs on deep fried pizza and battered mars bars.
I can only assume the moaners on here are equally as uncouth, or as Americans would describe them - trailer park trash.
The location of the hotel is brilliant. About 100 yards down the hill (which is not steep) is Las Americas newest shopping centre with quality shops and restaurants. Shop here and eat here and you won't go wrong as there are none of the conning camera shop owners etc. All these quality shops display prices on their goods! Anyone who's been to Americas will appreciate this and will avoid the "camera shops" owned by asians as they are out to con you and are all owned by the same people...
With the hotel being on the other side of the motorway (there's no noise or any problem connected) it's an ideal place to stay if you want to hire a car - like we did. Parking is no problem at all. If you just want a pool/beach holiday then that's great too as there's a free bus which is punctual and reliable and if you do need at taxi it's only about 6 euros to Playa and 10 euros to Los Cristianos. Why choose a high rise hotel in Playa with the riff raff when you stay in a smart area and not be impeded by the location?
So in summary the hotel is not the Ritz, but it's clean and it's reasonably priced and fantastic for families. Airtours have downgraded it to 3 star which is great as it means we can all go again cheaper so the Scottish slobs and their ilk have done one good thing with their moaning. I just hope they don't return and revert back to hotels in the centre of Las Americas with the rest of the great unwashed.
Best not mention the entertainment though as it really is cringe worthy for anyone with a mental age over 5. I guess the clan thoroughly enjoyed that though.
