Dream Hotel Villa Tagoro Reviews
" Not sure what all the complaints are... "
Submitted By: Mr C PattersonThe pool area was clean and the rooms were great.
The reception staff couldn't do enough for us when we did have queries.
BE CAREFUL! If travelling with elderly parent as we were - it is up a hill and an electrical scooter isn't powerful enough so we had to hire a wheelchair, which isn't the easiest way to travel to the centre of Adeje.
Would go again, and would recommend to anyone under 50 and parents with kids.

Submitted By: Mr A DonnellyFood was good, especially if you like Pork!!! Plenty of pork in different guises! Food was abundant at meal times and although not Gordon Ramsay, was nice. There was always plenty for me to eat and I'm quite a fussy eater (hate veg & salad!). Kids tried out lots of new things as they could always have something else if they didn't like it!
Pool was great however is extremely deep, watch the drop! Not over crowded at all, and it was the middle of August. Sunbeds are plentiful but so are the early birds and their towels!!
Kids entertainment program was varied through the day and mini disco was repetitive, as expected - great 4 kids though!
Adult entertainment was disappointing. They really could do with more(some) disco/karaoke/dancing action instead of silly skits by the kids entertainment team who mime along to songs (badly). So bad that you do cry with laughter!
Only local drinks available, but believe me, they are just as strong as the top brands!

Submitted By: Mrs E J FinnIf you go hungry at this place then you have only yourself to blame. I have an extremely fussy 11 year old and he always found something to eat. There is always a choice of fish or meat/chicken cooked in front of you plus many other dishes, rice, pasta, casseroles, potatoes in many ways and of course chips, ice cream that you helped yourself to which the kids thought was fantastic. We never had a problem getting drinks from either of the bars and there was a help yourself in the restaurant.
The entertainment was aimed at children until 9.45pm provided by the entertainment team at the hotel. Most nights there was some sort of outside entertainment brought in.
The hotel is quite a way from the beach and resort centre but there was a courtesy bus and taxis were cheap enough, about 5 euros to the beach at Porto Colon so not a problem for us but if you like the beach close to hand then this isn't the place for you.
Overall, we had a fantastic holiday and will definitely be going back next year!

Submitted By: Ms B GriffithRooms were large and airy and spotlessly clean as was the lovely spacious balcony with sun beds. We saw no cockroaches nor smelt any stale water or bad odours by the pool. In fact it was thoroughly washed down and cleaned every evening and morning.
Food was very good considering the amounts that they were catering for and the griddle meant that the meat was freshly cooked in front of you. The packed lunches they provided for you when you were out for the day were full and tasty with plenty of variety in the bags - fresh bread rolls, fruit, ham, cheese, yogurt, crisps, drink..., sometimes we would not take it all but store some in the fridge in the room for evening snacks as those were not brilliant.
What could have been better was if we had tea/coffee facilities in the room and if you didn't have to pay deposits and keep receipts for everything that you need. The TV and safe was especially galling to have to pay extra for.
All staff were very helpful and polite and spoke perfect English, amongst other languages.
We will certainly visit Villa Tagoro again.

Submitted By: Mrs C RichardsonGood points - the entertainment team - excellent with the kids in the kids club and at the mini disco, couldn’t fault any one of them. Yes they were the entertainment at night as well but put on a different show every night of the week.
On the one night they had off we had the oldest crooner we'd ever seen. None of the crowd showed any enthusiasm and he even admitted the second week that it was "hard work" - says it all really.
Now for the bad bits:
Tiles around the pool - broken, chipped, loose, cracked, lost count of the number of them we counted.
Corridor outside our room, ceiling covered in mould with water dripping onto the white ceramic tiled floor, various lights broken which gave shadows which meant you couldn’t see the pool of water on the floor until my son slipped on it and went flat on his back. The hotel sorted the leak out by placing a bath towel on the floor to cover the wet patch.
Food - not a bad option some nights, other nights on the grill meat with blood oozing out of it, not really suitable for a nine year old child who loves their meat. My husband lived on chips with cheese on. Food around the bar - lovely option but cold within ten minutes of it being put out. Ice cream available from 4.30pm in the afternoon - until the 4 tubs put out were emptied then that was it! Thank god for Netto across the road.
One outside toilet for each male and female for a fairly packed hotel at night, often blocking up and not flushing in the ladies.
Bar - lovely pleasant bar staff, even though at the very most there were only 2 of them - often just one working while the other collected glasses, resulting in LENGTHY queue's so line them up while you can because it could take up to 25 minutes to get served.
Building works for the whole two weeks - starting off on the day of arrival with a little bit of drainage maintenance work around the edge of the pool, certain area's blocked off - we thought we can live with that. Painting the walls of the pool, while kids played in the pool. Then came the third or fourth day and the "real" building work started on a row of apartments that were being sold off as time-share (so we were advised by one of the entertainment team) - hammering, kango drills, tiles coming off the walls, banging, more drilling. The area was screened by a "willow/bamboo" screen which did nothing to drown out any of the noise. This carried on the whole holiday until the end of our holiday when we woke up on the day of departure to find half the pool area had been cut off by the "willow/bamboo" screening. Probably 500 plus guests with space for about 75-100 sun beds at the very most.
All in all, would never ever return - definately not a four star, maybe a 1 star at the very best - we spoke to a couple who had been there twice previously and they said since their last visit in 2006 they could not believe how much it had deteriorated.
Videos and photos taken of the building works which the tour operator said were "minimal/minor".

Submitted By: Mrs G StevensI would say the food and drink were nice, entertainment staff were lovely, although only for small children really - bit boring for everybody else. Best to go out and about, which you don't want to do every night on all inclusive when paying all that money. Other staff though, especially reception staff were very off and things we reported, i.e. room not being cleaned as cleaner visited when we were still there at 9am, so just left towels and went, also things like faulty fridge doors, etc.. never got looked at. Our phone didn't work but not too bothered.
The main thing though we wanted was air conditioning so we could sleep comfortably and get ready without being too hot, but unfortunately wasn't effective. Thankfully at night, did get cooler and slept ok, and the rooms weren't too hot like some can be.
I must say the balconies were huge and very private, you got a table with 2 chairs and 2 sun loungers, so if no beds around the pool which was a nightmare some days was good to have your own space. On the whole though Costa Adeje is nice and our stay was good, just a few niggles. We did travel out slightly and I think I prefer Los Christianos, but had a good time nevertheless. We didn't have a holiday rep as this was booked separately for us through Instant Holidays, which was an excellent service and were told if any problems to call them anyway.

Submitted By: Mrs C AgnewThe food was good quality and well presented with plenty of variety. The pool was a good size for the number of guests in the complex.
The pool area was well scrubbed every evening and morning. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the service was excellent. Evening entertainment was as you would expect.
We met some lovely English and Welch families and the craic was 90.
Overall an excellent holiday and good value for money.

Submitted By: Miss H BentleyThe food was excellent and there was plenty of choice for everyone as it catered for different peoples taste and it was not repeated at all!
The entertainment was fun to watch and included a mini disco for kids and adult entertainment after.
While we were there we saw Spanish dancers, a singer, and a snake show in which we held a snake, a parrot show, a musical night, a comedy night, and a showing of the musical Grease.
The apartment we stayed in was very close to the bar and pool which was very handy and it was very clean and spacious.
The pool was big but could get crowded so you need to make sure your up in time to get a sunbed, but I think this applies to most holidays you go on.
There was a good choice of drink and the alcohol wasn’t watered down.
The only problem we had was that it isn’t in Playa de las Americas as it says it is and is a far walk if you want to go there, we walked there one day and it took us nearly 2 and a half hours to get back, but there are free buses available.
" Not sure where the bad reviews are... "
Submitted By: Miss E LaneThis time we were able to book the apt through a private owner and loved the experience.
We were able to come and go as we pleased using all the facilities and buying the all inclusive band, when we just wanted to stay at the hotel all day and lounge by the pool sipping on our drinks.
I prefer this to the all inclusive through the Hotel as we can be more independent by booking with the owner and then choosing which facilities to make the most of.
We liked the fact that it has entertainment and facilities such as sauna, tennis court, etc. The kids club was perfect for the kids. Highly recommended for families with children.
Also liked the fact that we could just walk to the beach if we wanted.
I highly recommend to all!

Submitted By: Mrs E TelferOur apartment was directly on the pool making it perfect for the children to run back and for safely and within sight. There is a sauna, tennis courts and kids club it was perfect for our family.
Although we were self catering we were able to buy an all inclusive band for a couple of the days which was great when we knew we were by the pool all day and we weren't concerned how many times the children wanted drinks or ice cream.
I preferred having the choice and being able to come and go as I pleased.
Although the all inclusive via the Hotel sounds good I would still prefer to be slightly more independent by booking with the owner, and then choosing which facilities I want to make the most of when I am there.
Highly recommended for families with children.

Submitted By: Miss D StevensonThe food was lovely and different options every night, can I just point out to everyone who has read previous reviews, go with an open mind because I can assure you, you will not be disappointment, the food is lovely & there is a wide range available so you will not be stuck.
The rooms were very spacious and the maids cleaned the rooms & changed the sheets every day apart from Tuesdays & Sundays.
The Entertainment Team were very friendly and had a mini disco for the kids with adult entertainment straight afterwards, believe me the shows were good fun
The only downside I would say is the fact that it is situated on a hill, therefore I wouldn’t say this hotel is suitable for disabled or elderly people, as I even was knackered when I reached the hotel & I’m only 26.
There is a bus which runs on a daily basis form outside the hotel on the hour every hour until 6pm; however there are no buses on Sundays.
Myself & my fiancé really enjoyed our time at this hotel, and met some really nice people, don’t worry about staying at this hotel as like us I’m sure you will love it!

Submitted By: Mrs K RyanFood was repeated and we were sick of it by end of week, have to pay for drinks after 11pm, and snack bar was left over’s from tea which was crockets, popcorn and fish balls.
It is about 1 miles walk to the beach and was a dangerous walk if you have kids keep tight hold of them as road very busy, and you have to walk over a motorway bridge, however there is a free bus every hour.
The rooms are nice and the maid comes every day.
My kids loved it as plenty of activities for them. There’s a big pool which is very busy but there is a smaller pool with drinks i.e. san Miguel coca cola sprite ect, it’s more relaxed and quiet here as not many people know it’s there.
I would go back to Villa Tagoro with kids, as ideal for them. It is not as bad as some people have wrote, but I have been to better and paid less.

Submitted By: FlojoWhilst I do agree with the other reviews about all inclusive, because we booked independently we were on self catering basis.
The apartment had been reformed and we had all modern conveniences from kettle - toaster - microwave - nice crockery - TV/DVD - Safe - Iron - Ironing Board - lovely bed linen and towels.
The apartment was spotlessly clean and it was great as we didn’t pay anything extra for the items.. I know that some friends staying at another complex were charged for their kettle.
The complex is great for couples and families and the pools were just great the children.
I would recommend you book independently and go self catering in one of these private apartments. Talking to a lot of other guests they were not aware that you could do this and they wished they had.
Should you wish to go all inclusive then you can purchase a wrist band - so you can have the best of both worlds.
However it’s nice to eat out then come back for the entertainment at night with the children.
So go for the complex as it’s really great and has everything you need but book privately
I paid £295 for the four of us per week and this is great value for the accommodation we received.

'Dungeon Room' so were a bit nervous but as it turns out it was excellent.
Extremely spacious very clean and very private, ok so there wasn't a great view but who wants to spend 2 weeks in a bedroom and it was very convenient for the pool during the day and close to all other facilities.
Food was great loads of choice and no complaints from us although I did hear others moaning in typical 'brits abroad fashion’.
Pool area great very large and great for kids of all ages. Sunbeds not a problem kept locked up till 8.30 then unleashed onto the usual pack of hounds glaring at each other all reminds me a bit of gun fight at the ok corral ha-ha, but after years of package holidays just the norm and quite amusing really.
Thomas Cook reps extremely good friendly and approachable not pushy because they didn’t need to be they seemed to sell the excursions and trips effortlessly by just being charming and informative. We attended the reps night out which was great fun very entertaining and gave you a good opportunity to meet others from the hotel and others in resort. We also took the Mount Teide jeep safari which was excellent. Freebird 1 catamaran cruise which was amazing and yes we saw dolphins and whales! Finally visited loro parc which was fabulous.
Staff at villa Tagora friendly and pleasant in particular restaurant staff.
Finally entertainment erm, well young group of Dutch students bless they are very enthusiastic and worked very hard but sadly not very entertaining (strange sense of humour and a bit near the knuckle for their main audience which is the kids).
Visiting entertainers parrots, snakes and funny singers on our last night there was a group of young African dancers/acrobats who were awesome I was glad we saw them as they were very talented.
The hotel is located at 15 min walk away from shops bars and restaurants and there are loads of beaches to choose from all are lovely Fanabe is closest to the hotel although troya was my fave.
Would recommend this hotel and Playa de las America to anybody.
