These are basic apartments but you only need a bed and hot water as you are only in them to shower and sleep! Clean bedding, clean towels provided, air con and a safe, for a small fee, staff were friendly and accomodating, pool was small but clean and our family spent many happy hours in it.
The apartments are situated over the taj mahal restaurant, which is one of the best in ichmeler, black sea restaurant, opposite comes recommended as does the turkish delight.
I feel that some of the reviews have been unfair.

This year 07, will be our 3rd time at the Baydu apartments.
The owner and staff there are lovely friendly people. The apartments are basic but you only sleep in them and we had plenty of clean bedding and towels.
You can go to posh hotels and not get any more than you have at the Baydu. We love this place because it has everything around it.
The pool area is lovely and relaxing. Just what we like my daughter loves it here and over the years we have met a lot of friends because it is small, everyone gets to know each other.
Friends of ours had never been to Turkey until last year, they loved it so much they are coming to the Baydu with us this year.

These are the perfect holiday apartments if you are looking for somewhere that is run down, unappealing and unkempt.
The lights weren't working but I think that was so you couldn't see how basic and run down the place was. The kitchen comprised of a small fridge and a tiny sink which had no running water. It was an apartment for 4 people but there wasn't enough cutlery or crockery, and what was there was chipped and cracked, then when I opened the cupboard door it came off in my hand.
The balcony was tiny and had a small table and three chairs (even though it was supposed to be equipped for 4) but unfortunately one of those was broken and the others looked well passed their sell-by dates.
Our main concern, however, was when we shut and locked the main door, it only took a good push with my hand to open it again, no keys were needed to re-open it, there was no way we could have left anything of value in that room.
The pool and sunbathing area was filthy, we could not swim in the pool as we would be fighting for room with the flies in the murky water, and I could not have eaten anything that would have been passed over the dirty bar.
The good thing was that the rep for holidays 4 u listened straight away to our complaints and the complaints from all the families that were at the apartments and we were all moved within the hour to other apartments.
The rest of the holiday was wonderful. Icmeler is an idyllic place with friendly people. The food was fantastic at all the restaurants we visited, and the shopping and friendly banter was excellent. It was the first time I had been to Icmeler but I would recommend the place to anyone, just don't stay at the Baydu apartments, whatever you do.

We have just returned from 2 weeks spent in the Baydu apartments in Icmeler. The resort itself is lovely, the people are really friendly as we have always found the Turkish people to be. The beach is clean and ideal for children as the sea is just like a millpond! Shopping wise we found Marmaris to be the place to be and its only a short dolmus ride away. The night life is definitely low key and this suited us perfectly.
The restaurants in Icmeler are really good and very reasonable. In particular the food at Artemis Restaurant is excellent. We usually like to try as many different places as possible but the food and fantastic staff meant we kept going back.
The apartments were very disappointing. We usually go to Greece and Turkey so we are used to basic accommodation but these apartments put a whole new spin on the word basic. The kitchen equipment was laughable, we only had 1 glass, 2 (intact cups) and no bowls as well as insufficient cutlery for 3 people to eat at the same time. On our arrival in the early hours of the morning there was no bedding provided for our small daughter and we had to share a single bed so she could have the other. The loo seat was broken and the chairs provided had to be covered with towels before we could sit on them as they were so rusty and dirty. The apartment was not clean on our arrival and the floors were filthy. The floor was washed once during our stay but this made little difference, which did not surprise us after sneaking a crafty peek at the filthy contents of the cleaners bucket.
Overall the excellent resort meant that we still had a lovely time and will definitely return to Icmeler which we would recommend to everyone except those who want nightclubs and late night bars on their doorstep. We definitely will be giving the Baydu Apartments a wide berth though!

Just glad we only went to these apartments for a week! Cheaply priced we expected them to be basic but these are basic beyond belief, run down and dirty. Nothing seems to be maintained. The rooms consist of your beds and a wardrobe, oh and a makeshift sort of kitchenette with one pan and a few crockery items. The taps are unique though as they wobble all over the place as you turn them on and off. Balcony (which is not large as described on another review) has a table and some plastic mismatched chairs, all of which were heavily stained and covered in old paint splashes. Bathroom tiny with a shower head than precariously dangled at such a peculiar angle that you would have to be flat up against the wall to shower under it. We took it off and just held it over us to enjoy the light trickle it produced. Water at least was warm though! Not that it is much use showering. By the time you had walked across the old tiled floor the bottom of your feet were totally black again. We ended up wearing shoes all the time and having a small baby with us made this an absolute nightmare because we couldn't let her crawl about in the room. We consoled ourselves with the fact that at least the beds were clean but on the day of our departure I stripped the beds ready for the maid and there were all sorts of crawlies under the sheet on my daughters bed. She was really upset about this but was comforted with the fact she would not be sleeping in it again!
The pool area is small but again wouldn't be too bad if it was maintained and cleaned! The grills around the pool are filthy, even friends back home have commented on this from the holiday snaps taken. Small bar area that looks scruffy and dated that serves food as well. The food served was ok though.
In all I think 99.9% of the people visiting the Baydu will not return there. The manager is a lovely man and very friendly, nothing negative to say about him, I actually felt a bit sorry for him running such a dump. We normally stay at the Babadan apartments. These are similarly priced (2 star rating) but a world away in comfort than these.
Icmeler is a lovely resort though and this was the third time we had been. We will no doubt be going back but NEVER to the Baydu again. Hope this review has been helpful .There was only one review about the apartments when we booked and it didn't sound too bad. God knows what they were like before the 2006 refurbishment!

We have just returned from Icmeler Sunday 24th September. We have been to Icmeler 5 times and have really enjoyed it, but this time it was marred by staying in the dirtiest place in town!
I would recommend you think again if you are going to book the Baydu apartments. When we arrived the first thing I did is kick my shoes off and pad around in bare feet only to find that the floor was filthy and I needed to wash my feet before I could do anything else!! Then when we went to have a shower there was more water coming from the back of the shower head than the front. The cleaner only changed our towels and sheets twice in a fortnight and never cleaned anywhere else in the apartment, not even the bins.
We would recommend Charlie’s Restaurant where we had the most tasty fish dish and also The Geordie Bar where we had the biggest Sunday dinner I have ever seen!

I'm just back from another wonderful fortnight in Icmeler, actually I was just counting up and it was my 7th visit!
This time I stayed at the Baydu studio apartments (booked through Carol at Icmeler Travel Centre). Location-wise you couldn’t wish to be more central - 2 minutes stroll to the beach, and right in the centre of the resort. The apartments themselves are very basic, but very spacious with separate bedroom and kitchen and lovely big balconies. Carol says these apartments are going to be refurbished for 2006, and I'm sure they’ll be fantastic once the work is done, I'd certainly stay there again.
The food at the Lighthouse was excellent, as always - it's got to the best restaurant in Icmeler. Had some very good meals at the Chef restaurant just under the Devamli hotel and also found a new restaurant called The Wayside which I would strongly recommend trying; it's a short way up a side street just around the corner from the Tansas supermarket - the food there is really good.
We only did one excursion this time (again booked through Carol at Icmeler Travel Centre) - the trip to Akyaka which is a beautiful village with amazing Ottoman-style architecture, vibrant flowers everywhere, a beautiful mountain backdrop, freshwater river and a wide sandy beach which is shallow for quite a long way out. A bargain at only £5 for the day - thoroughly enjoyed it.
We also took the water taxi to Kumlubuk a couple of times, a very pretty, quiet beach where the sea is warmer than at Icmeler - no loud music, no big hotels, no big crowds - absolute bliss!
As usual the shops and bazaars got the better of me..... My credit card is now in rehab for the winter! :ops:
If anyone’s on the look-out for a decent "fake" designer watch while in Icmeler, a visit to Tony’s Tick Tock Shop is a must. Tony’s actually next door to Icmeler Travel Centre, opposite the Black Sea restaurant and has got to have the best choice of watches in Icmeler - many, many different names, models and styles - something for everyone! They’re all good quality watches and I now have several which all keep perfect time (I’ll soon have one for every day of the week!)
And if you're in need of a new handbag, or like me, you just can't resist a new bag, have a look in the Natural Leather shop (next to the Chill Bar). They’ve got loads of gorgeous leather handbags in so many shapes, sizes and colours at real bargain prices - I wanted them all, but settled for just two! It would be a hard task to find such good quality bags at those prices in the UK.
Some of my other good buys were embroidered bathroom towels and silver jewellery from the canal bazaar which made lovely presents... and a few pieces of gold jewellery (presents for me of course)!
But the only trouble is having to watch your weight going out of Dalaman airport - for one horrible minute when I was checking in I thought I was going to be charged for being a little overweight.... and I don’t mean with all the lovely food I managed to put away during the fortnight..... but was let off by a second opinion from another check-in girl! Phew!
