Loved the people and view!

My friend and I travel alot and the WINDJAMMER was great..not what I expected at all! the staff there were friendly and very accomendating. The only down side was that it rained the entire time we were there; however it was still very hot and humid. still great weather to swim in. we went doing the rainy season which was 6/30/04 - 7/6/04..but we still had a blast. I enjoyed our room(actually it was a studio like apartment) over looking the ocean. JUST BEWARE OF THE STAIRS!! if you are disabled or w/kids please request a room with no stairs becasue some are very steep W/NO RAILING. you will get your exercise walking around this resort which is great. the resort is very hilly. it's hard to venture out to eat away from the hotel so i suggest the ALL INCLUSIVE PACKAGE. the ride from the airport to the hotel takes about 1 1/2 hours so be prepared.one road up and down. that's it. other way to get there from airport is by helicopter at $100 P/P APPROX..there are food places in rodney bay which is about 10minutes away.however, you will need a taxi to get there.shopping not that great ...JUST RELAX AND ENJOY THE VIEW, PEOPLE AND THE SOUND OF THE ISLAND..oh food at the beach bar and next door is better than the main attraction the dragonfly..also the italian restraurant on the property is GREAT!!!!..THAT'S MY OPINION.oh, there is also an interenet cafe which charges a small fee but is cheaper than calling home. :)
Highly recommend Windjammer

Both my companion and I are very well traveled, and we throughly enjoyed our recent stay at the Windjammer. The property and grounds have a lovely tropical feel with great views. All but one person was extremely polite and helpful. The food was excellent, and the service very good. There are many activities if you choose to be busy or you can choose to be totally relaxed. The minimart and gift shops on property were very nice and convenient. The beach area was lovely with nice beach chairs. There is a car rental on property as well as a tour desk. They have a nice spa on property as well. The maid service was very good. They do have refrigerators in the room. At dusk the mosquitos appear so be sure to take mosquito repellent. They drive on the left, but I would recommend renting a car for one day to see the Pitons, volcano and sulpher springs.
Friendly People

The island has the friendliest people. The resort was paradise. The ocean water was a let down, murky and cloudy. The pool was amazing with its adult pool being so seculded and quite. The rum was flowing like water. mmm-delicious! We loved JOY'S EXCURSION, it was the highlight of our honeymoon. My wife and I payed a little extra to have a guide just take us two on the tour. It was really romantic. Our tour guide was Phil and he knew so so much about the island. He was the nicest guy. We really liked Phil. The entertainment at the sundowner bar was alright. There was a reggae band one night that was jammin man. I highly recommend this resort. The staff and locals had the best attitudes. all in all we both loved our visit to st. lucia and the st. james club in morgan bay.
Loved the Place & The People

My family and I just returned from the Windjammers in St. Lucia (5-12 / 5-19) and being a person that looks at reviews of hotels on trip advisor on a regular basis, I just had to write. Windjammers Resort certainly exceeded our expectations. The staff (Tracy, Leslie, Donston, Vincent-The Shuttle Driver, Desmond-Shuttle & Taxi Driver, & The entire breakfast staff @ the Dragonfly restaurant), just to name a few, went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. Even with the tempermental weather that we were experiencing during our stay, everyone remained upbeat and did what ever they could to help us to have a great time. We would definitely come back again and recommend to anyone we know, that is thinking of coming to this beautiful island, to enjoy the accomodations there at Windjammers.Hopefully, it will become a regular spot for my family and I.
Wonderful Place and Wonderful Country

This was our second trip to St. Lucia in two years - and again it was terrific. I would agree with others that one should get the all inclusive - unless you are planning of going off property every night. Plenty of food and beverage choices and nice not to worry about all of that. We (my wife and I) found the staff to go above and beyond and always with a smile! They were terrific. When travelling here of anywhere up north on St. Lucia, try to fly into Viggie airport to save the long trip on winding roads up. We loved the beach here, we loved the watersports, we loved the friends we made, the food we ate, etc. The rooms were overly ample - and we had a base rate room - and private -including a veranda which provided for a place for private, quiet nights and mornings. The van service was excellent and the cleanliness was excellent. Go if you can....
Great Place, Great Times

Just returned from Windjammer last week. Had an amazing time. The hotel is beautiful, nestled in the hillside. The food is excellent and plenty of choice, however your better on the all inclusive option – its worth it. The villas are of a good standard, with a Caribbean feel throughout – if your lucky enough to be able to have a private plunge pool go for it because it is well worth it. Service was great, sometimes a little delayed but that’s the same all over the Caribbean. The staff were pleasant and did everything they could to make the stay as good as possible. Especially Gyenifier the wedding co-ordinator / concierge who went above and beyond to make by mate’s wedding special. The only thing that shocked me was how rude some of the other hotel guests were to the staff. Its not difficult to be polite, plus if you were working there would you be nice to a customer if they were being rude?
Incredible Wedding, thank you Windjammer!

We began to consider Saint Lucia for a destination wedding and visited last September to see for ourselves what so many friends have raved about. St. Lucia blew us away and we screened many resorts to find the "right fit" for our wedding. We chose Windjammer for a number of reasons: the villas were amazing and very unique, several restaurants on property, competitive group rates but most importantly we got a terrific feel from our wedding coordinator, Glenifer George. As the planning months proceeded, we were very excited about the level of service and responsiveness of Jacinta in reservations and Glenifer. That is definitely not to say there weren't problems... their "island relaxed" attitude made us nervous when they reassured us, however everything did truly turn out wonderful. Glenifer customized several special events for our 60 guests to enjoy; as the hosts, we had little to worry about because Glenifer was absolutely amazing at making everything come out perfect. Our guests are still raving about the trip and several are considering purchasing time shares at the property! The resort was out of this world, we had single guests, coupled guests, newlyweds, long-time marrieds, and familys. Everyone had a fantastic time! There truly is something for everyone, the food is terrific (and a bargain if you do the All Inclusive Supplement) the Jammer bar is a great time, the beach is relaxing, the watersports are a blast, the rooms are amazing. We really cannot say enough good things... One caution we have to anyone who is considering hosting a destination wedding at the Windjammer: The resort is "villa format" and they seem to get oversold. This caused us a bit of stress, because while they upgraded some of our guests to amazing rooms with pools/jacuzzis, they also put some of our guests together in 2BR and 3BR villas. They did this to 10 of our 60 guests. Fortunately, they paired them with people from the wedding party however they failed to have a conversation with us prior about the need to do so. Had we had that conversation we would have helped them put different people together (with similar interests) the way they did it was putting older guests with young singles, and coupled guests with other coupled guests who were strangers. Bottom line: be proactive, tell them specifically who may be paired and who may not. Jacinta was good at "damage control" once the situation became apparent, however we had to physically move a few people around in order to improve the situation. Avoid this stress, deal with it ahead of time! Secondly, the DJ they hire does not have a good selection of music. We were told that he did but did not have a playlist to send us. We brought our own "do not play" list, which he did not follow and did not understand the "non-cheesiness" factor we were trying to achieve. Fortunately, our maid of honor had a mix CD in her room that she brought down that helped him understand what we wanted. In retrospect, we would not have done used the DJ, we would have brought our own mix CDs. Outside of those minor details (what wedding doesn't have a glitch or two) Windjammer was an amazing experience. We will definitely be back!!!
Overbooked

We were booked to stay at the Windjammer from March 18-March 25 (Thur - Thur). I had confirmed our reservation on the 17th before we left. When we landed in St. Lucia on the 18th, we were told that Windjammer did not have any rooms for us and were going to put us up at a resort down the beach (East Winds Inn) until rooms were available. The representative at the airport said there would be a representative at the new resort to explain the issue to us. There were SEVERAL people in the same situation from our plane alone!Well, there wasn't a representative at the new resort, and the next day nobody from Windjammer bothered to contact us. We had to walk over to the resort to talk with someone about what was going on. At that time they told us they'd have a room for us (Oceanview room) on Sunday. While we were there visiting we noticed how BUSY the resort was. We had problems even getting a drink at the bar. We also noticed in other trips over there to visit that beach chairs were very hard to come by. Also, I was a little naive on HOW MANY kids would be there. On Sunday, Windjammer never did call to tell us when our room would be ready. The manager at the resort we were staying at had to call to get the information. At this point we were very settled into the place we were at and were really loving the place. Windjammer agreed to allow us to stay at the new resort after we called them on Sunday. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't make another reservation at Windjammer.
Nomads in St Lucia

Feburary, 2004Recently traveled to the Windjammer with our Nomads Travel group of 125 on our own 727. The people in charge in this resort went over and above to make our stay perfect. We had a villa (51) with eight of our friends, a few of us have trouble with steps. Would you believe that they put tempory railings going to our bedrooms to make our stay easy on us. The van service was very efficient as we were very high up and away from everything. The service on the beach was prompt, just wave a flag and they were there. We had a very efficient young lady that kept our Villa very clean, we did not have to do a thing except make coffee in the morning. The only down side to this resort is that there are an extream amount of steps everywhere. Also it is a long drive from the airport to the Resort, but it is a beautiful island to see.
Terrific as always!!

I have a timeshare at the Windjammer and just returned from my 6th visit to the resort. We were there on President's week. After reading some of the negitive reviews, I was concerned that maybe the Windjammer was going downhill, but the opposite is true. Every year I see numerous upgrades to improve and beautify the resort. This year they added the Upper Deck restaurant which was great and they changed the uncomfortable golf cart shuttles to vans. The vans held more people and the shuttle service was better. I hear that this year they are filling in more oceanfront with sand to expand the beach area. I love everything about this resort. The people who work there are the warmest, sweetest people you can meet. They always greet us like long lost relatives. The same people have worked there all these years. That's loyality. The children's program is fantastic! My 9 yr old son can't wait to go there every year. He started when he was 4 yrs. old. Verna, Gayle, and Olinka always give him big hugs to welcome him back. My problem now is getting him to spend more family time with us. Our 2br with pool is gorgeous and has beautiful views. I call it my Winter home. Birds and bugs were not a problem. My son named the birds that sat on our table for breakfast. I felt we had new pets for the week. We always choose not to do the all-inclusive. We bring breakfast foods with us and have a lovely breakfast on our deck overlooking the sea. We eat at the resort about half the time and eat out the rest. We really enjoy the food at the Windjammer, but we like more variety. Most watersports and the children's program are free even if you don't do the all-inclusive. What I noticed this year more than any other year is the number of repeat visitors there were even if they didn't have a timeshare. I'm glad we have a timeshare because I know I will be coming to this resort even when I'm old and gray. Eventhough it was a school holiday week, this resort appealed to people of all ages. Everyone looked like they were having a great time. As you can tell I love this place and can't wait to be back there. Bonnie

I'm not going to write a long review. You can read the good and bad regarding the beaches and restaurants in other reviews. I would, however, like people to know what happened to my wife while there in May 2011. after the second day she began noticing bites on her... more
