Village Inn and Spa Hotel reviews

7 / 10
Jul 2011, Disappointed guest

I took my Mom to this hotel for her birthday on the recommendation of my cousin who spent time there last year. I took the All Inclusive but that was my worst mistake. The room was comfortable and the staff was courteous but the food was horrible. The dinner and lunch menus... more

Nice, clean, basic hotel
After getting over the culture shock of St. Lucia and driving for hours to get to Rodney Bay from the south, we were ready to find a hotel. We were traveling with 2 teen boys and stopped at the Village Inn to inquire on rates. The Desk Manager was very friendly and negotiated a price for me, which was MUCH less than the rack rate, but still quite high for a basic hotel, $200USD for 2 rooms with breakfast (this hotel can be all inclusive, but this price was EP). The rooms were typical of a US business hotel. Queen bed, bathroom... more
Better than I expected
My husband and I stayed here over the New Year's vacation for 6 day. I wasn't expecting much after reading the reviews but was pleasantly surprised. The room was basic but spacious and clean. It is in a great location right across the road to a beautiful beach and within walking distance of lots of good restaurants. The food at the hotel was extremely boring and bland and I wouldn't recommmend it and the bar area is huge and has so much potential but it is totally uninviting. No music, no decorations, nothing to make you feel you are in the... more
Pleasantly surprised
From reviews I was expecting a basic hotel with average service, however we were pleasantly surprised with the standard of the hotel for its rating. The staff were very polite and efficient. I can only praise the hardwork of all the staff where nothing was too much trouble and everything was done to ensure your stay was as pleasant as possible. A massage in the spa was out of this world...best I have had for years. It is definately value for money and if I were to return than I would return to this hotel.
Good Location
My husband and I stayed at the Village Inn from Dec. 1-5, 2005 for the Kalalu Music Festival. We bought our package on an auction site and got a really good deal, but if we were paying the prices that the hotel was charging for the room we stayed in, we would've been really let down. I believe our room was charged at a rate of over $350 US dollars a night, but was more comparable to a hotel at $75 a night. The good thing is that if you are getting an all-inclusive deal, you get breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as all drinks at the bar... more
Most wonderful weekend
I was at the hotel because I had won a free weekend stay as a prize, and therefore expected 2nd class treatment --- not so. From the time I arrived early in the morning and the hotel staff busied themselves preparing my room for early check-in, I realised that I would be receiving the same treatment as all other guests. And I was never disappointed. The room was absolutely BEAUTIFUL, well-appointed, clean and comfortable. I also enjoyed the breakfast buffet each morning, and ate quite heartily as did most of the guests I saw there. The... more
Simply lovely!
We stayed at the Village Inn for 9 days in September. After reading some decidedly odd reviews we were delighted to find the hotel and staff were very good indeed. The food was a bit repetitive but on the whole the staff made eating and drinking fun.Alex,Alvin,Tessa, Euphemia and Diane were great. Raul's cooking class was fun! The pool area is clean and well maintained and apart from a lack of sun shades, comfortable. The trips which were included in our package were enjoyable and the sunset cruise was an unexpected pleasure. Castries is an... more
Absolutely great place
Our first time to St Lucia, journey form airport interesting 90 mins for 26 miles!! The hotel and spa were worth it. The quality of service from the staff was brilliant although you have to remember you are on St Lucian time! The choice and quality of food was very good and the hotel was very clean and tidy. Sephra ( a young female Maitre'D) was exceptionally good at her job and deserves a mention for keeping the evening restaurant running smoothly, as does a young man by the name of Heslie for mixing cocktails by the pool. Do... more
Good value 3 star
We have just returned from 10 days in The Village Inn & Spa and have to say we found it very good value for money. We were quite concerned before we went, as we had read a couple of bad reviews, but were pleasantly surprised when we eventually got there. The journey was the down side as we went via Barbados and had a long wait there both going out and going back, we would go back to the Village Inn but would have to have a direct flight. The excellent beach was just a short walk from the hotel and you could hire delapidated sun beds and... more
What a lovely surprise Rodney bay is
We arrived in St Lucia with some trepidation. The start of the rainy season and an island that was new to us but once you get over the taxi ride from the airport which is 90 mins.(at least you see some of the hinterland) After travelling through some typical caribbean life you come into Castries which is almost cosmopolitan with traffic jams!! Once you're through here its into Rodney Bay, colourful exuberant and full of life. The location of VillageInn is ideal just across the road from the most lovely beach which is gentally shelving and... more
Not as bad as others would have you believe
I read the reviews before going and since my brother in law had made the reservations I did not raise the subject with him. The place is clean, the staff friendly and the pool(s) are very enjoyable. The rooms are average, the bathrooms adequate but not 5 star and if you are expecting luxury this is not the place. The breakfast buffet is edible but not something to write home about. I would go back there again for several reasons. The close proximity to the beach, near to the marina, within walking distance of some... more
