There was 11 of us that stayed here, and we found that the staff learnt our names, and was so freindly ! The food was just Amazing !
We got a good time to go as there wasnt very many holiday makers there , and basicly had the pool to ourselves, which was great. We found no fault with nothing. all staff was very friendly especially bradley and cornelius and terrie and also crazzee charlie and ozzii,
A must is to hire a open-top jeep around the island, it was a eye opener.
The nurses at the resort were good also, Be respectfull of mid-day sun, and you wont have to see the nurse !!
Evening entertainment was fine,
even in the tropical storm they made sure everyone was ok, and had entertainment for everyone.
over all it was a great holiday, relaxing for adults , and the childrens club was reliable.

We really enjoyed our break at Coconut Bay - our room was spacious and cleaned daily to a good standard. Italian restaurant was v.good and the main restaurant served lots of choices on the menu.
Staff were all very helpful and my only negative comments was that for a 2 week all inclusive break the entertainment could have been a bit more varied and although the beach was cleaned regularly of seaweed there were some litter on the beach that was not cleared up during my stay.
Overall, I would recommend this as an ideal venue for families more than just couples.

I have just been looking over the reviews for the Coconut Bay and would have to disagree with most. We went as a family of 4 adults and 1 child. Having travelled alot as airline staff I have quite alot of experience of hotels. This hotel was great, the food was fab, and most of the staff were great except one young lady on reception who had a really bad attitude. The children’s club is really good although we couldn’t leave our boy as he was too young; the waterpark is also really good.
The beach is not nice but if you looked into your holiday before booking you would have known this. We saw the tractor nearly every morning trying to clear the seaweed, but it is nature.
We were on the ground floor facing the lazy river, and after one really bad storm our rooms became flooded, the staff were great, they moved us up to the next floor and the only thing we had to move was our valuables.
I think people have to remember this is the Caribbean where you will get storms and bugs.
Would have to agree that the bar was not the greatest, and also at the pool bar certain people did not move all day, which only means one thing, but that is not the hotels fault, that is others who don’t care about hygiene.
I would recommend this holiday to anyone.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks, it was brilliant. We got married out there also which was excellent, the staff was extremely helpful.
It has the only water park on the island which the kids loved, in the pool at least once a day.
Food was always fresh and appetising. Would recommend this hotel to anyone for a holiday or to get married.
Rooms were always clean and everything in there you need.

Hotel itself and the amenities and staff were fantastic, but the food was a major let down. As we were all inclusive this obviously formed a significant part of the holiday and we were left very disappointed. Choice was limited and the menus repetitive, also the food was only ever served lukewarm. We were forced to eat out on several occasions and were even unable to dine in the a la carte restaurants as places were in such high demand due to the poor quality of the buffet restaurant.

We went to Coconut Bay Resort and Spa for my son's wedding and the location was absolutely perfect.
The on site photographic studio and staff were excellent, producing fabulous photos and a very professional DVD of the wedding.
As we were a group of 18, all inclusive was the best option. There was plenty to eat and drink and the food was very good. The Beach Grill was open until 1.00 in the morning.
The resort itself is some distance from the tourist attractions, but again as we were a large group we were able to hire a minibus with driver for the day, at a relatively small cost.
The grounds and accommodation were well kept and the hotel was very clean and tidy.
There is plenty to do around the hotel with lazy river, spa treatment centre, games, games arcade, table tennis, tennis courts and basketball courts, children's club, adults only pool, beachside jacuzzi.
There are plenty of bars and entertainment for all tastes.
I have no hesitation in recommending the hotel.

I very much agree with the last reviewer. When I was reading the previous reviews, I was getting a little bit worried despite hearing from other sources that the resort was great and very recommended. Well, let's just say, ignore those people who have given the place negative reviews, there really is no way of pleasing some people!!!
As soon as we arrived at the airport, the 2 mini buses were waiting for us (we were a party of 7) and yes, the transfer time is literally 3-4 minutes!! Don't worry about the planes being close - they all take off during the day and there are only about 4 flights a day. You don't see any landing, only taking off and the hotel has a board up detailing the times. Once we got to the hotel, we were immediately greeted and seated in the open reception / bar area and incidentally, it is nothing like a departure lounge! If that is what departure lounges are supposedly like, then I'd like to fly more often!! Where can you sit in the day and night and sit in big sofas and chairs around oversized round tables in an area with 3 open sides, drink to your hearts content, look out at the ocean and feel the warmth of the Caribbean? Definitely no departure lounge!!! We were greeted with a fresh glass of cold champagne and cold flannels to refresh ourselves and then we had our luggage taken to our rooms for us.
The rooms were big and clean and cleaned daily. The beds were massive and so comfortable and the pillows were the best ever!! You can choose between using air con or the ceiling fan or both. Yes, we did have problems with flying ants on a couple of occasions and the resort did their best to spray etc but these are insects and they will try and get through!! If they did, we went straight to reception, asked them to spray in and out of the room and it was always done without fail. The only down side to the rooms was if you got a noisy neighbour - the walls are a bit thin but fortunately, I took ear plugs so it was OK. (Snoring hubby!!)
The food was fine. Coconut Walk wasn't the best for comfort - there was ample choice of food - salads, meat, fish etc but it does need air con and the staff are a bit sullen, however, the staff in the Thai, Italian, the outside restaurants and the bars made up for it. All were so polite and helpful. By the end, we were on 1st name terms with half of the staff who really looked after us. There is no strict dress code for the Coconut Walk, outside eating nights or the burger bar. The disco was a bit on the quiet side, but we did go in the quiet season and they did play the cd's that we asked them to. They even joined in with us!!
Because it was quiet, we did feel a bit sorry for the couples that had gone as it did appear that it was a bit too quiet as there is little entertainment in the evenings at this time of the year but it was ideal if you wanted a really quiet break or if you wanted plenty of space around you when sunbathing. There are loads of sunbeds by the way. The pools are cleaned daily, all of the toilets are clean and the swim up bar is great and if you get bored of the big choice of cocktails, they'll always make a special one for you. By the way, the cups aren't disposable ones, they are unbreakable plastic ones - who wants to step on broken glass?!
The tennis courts are in good nick too - we played at about 5.30pm and boy, did we sweat buckets!!!
In a nut shell, the resort is lovely - it's not 5 star, but you get what you pay for. If you don't like one of the restaurants, there are plenty of others to choose from. If you still don't like them, go self catering next time!!! Chat to the staff and be relaxed and friendly and they'll really look after you. Try and explore the island so you can get a feel for where they're from and their history etc. If you want a really quiet holiday, do go in their quiet season as it is very quiet. If you want a few more people in the resort, then definitely go when it's at the beginning/end/middle of busy time. All in all, relax and have fun!!

I would like to say what a lovely hotel the coconut bay is.
I went on these web pages to read reviews on the hotel and to be honest when I read them i started to get worried about the place I was staying in but i tell you now do not believe the bad comments, if you read some of the comments people make they complain about. Silly things like seaweed on the beach well where does seaweed come from in the first place and also about the sea being rough and the weather being windy these things can not be helped.
The sea was a little choppy but it is the Atlantic Ocean and the sea breeze was lovely as it is very hot there. The beach was raked on a daily basis.
As for the food being like a service station it's nothing like it. I like my traditional English food and can be quite fussy at times but at every meal time I found something I could eat, the food was always fresh and the staff were wonderful. The hotel is spotless the rooms are cleaned on a daily basis and there was plenty of room for myself 2 young boy's and my mum in our room.
The swimming pools were always clean. The hotel is very close to the airport in fact it is about 4 min from the airport which was great cause most of the hotels are 2 hours away and not all the taxis have air con and the roads are very bumpy and the speed limit is 50 mph.
There was probably about 4 planes max that took off every other day and they took off within a hour off each other so you were not disturb by them also you never saw the planes land.
All I say is don't let the negative comments put you off most people who write these comments are complainers.
Enjoy your holiday.

December 7th,
Just arrived back from a week at coconut bay resort. First of all we were told it's about 15-20mins from the airport!!.....it took less than a minute! The reception/bar area was indeed like an airport lounge. The buffet dining area looked like a motorway service station.....however the only reason I've given this place a 3 is coz the food was ok. The wine wasn’t too good though. There was plenty of fresh fruit and the rice dishes and the meat was good. Won't get many seafood dishes here though. Can't argue with the rooms, they were pleasant and clean.
We wanted a beach holiday with nice sea and sand.....there's no nice sand..it's covered in seaweed.....and you can't see your hands in the black sea!! It's always rough and the sand flies destroy your legs...a lot of people were bitten badly. We were consolidated by our rep saying they had 2 water slides!!...what would a 28 year old couple want with that!? Entertainment...they really shouldn’t bother...it was so so bad....that it was almost entertaining!
Don't rent a car from the resort, ask your rep for the best option. We were told by the hotel it would be US$130 a day for a car, then we booked with DRIVE-A-MATIC who were great for $US60 a day.....In fact, try not to get anything from the hotel...you can't even get a taxi out of there without them making a package out of it and charging you silly money.
The trips are way overpriced, and after taking the car all over St. Lucia, the island and it's attractions are way overrated, and if you go privately it's much cheaper......i.e. we paid £US3 to go to the Sulphur springs(about 45 mins drive from coconut) and the hotel charged $US50 for the pleasure. You really must get a car at this resort....if you stay in there....you'll go crazy! Afraid to say it takes an hour to go anywhere remotely interesting though.
If you're planning a wedding...DON'T GET MARRIED HERE! Some people had weddings here and it looked like a shambles.
So....after a really terrible week there....here are the positives that we tried to take from it:
The rooms were clean and cleaned everyday.
The food was good.
The people are very friendly and helpful.
The pools and the gardens are very well maintained.
It just felt like something wasn’t quite right about this resort. It was hard hard work. Even the supposedly a-la-carte restaurants were trying way too hard to be posh....there is a dress code of no jeans, trainers, sandals, t-shirts, shorts in the a-la-carte restaurants....fine...but don't give me salt and pepper in paper sachets then!! And don't serve small packets of butter with tongs!! All so wrong!
After a week, I definitely won't ever return...the only consolation was....when we took the car to the other side of the island and saw the sandals beach and the sea....it looked pretty bad too.
I really don't ask that much of my holidays...just want to relax...but if you want to relax, lovely beaches and sea....GO TO THE MALDIVES!

This was the worst hotel I have ever been to. I honestly thinking that the review below which says it was great was written by virgin or the hotel itself.
The first issue is that the hotel is no where near a 4 star, it is more likely to be a 2 star. I can compare it to Butlins.
We found out when we got there the hotel used to be an 18-30's (which explains the awful decor). The reception/bar/lounge/eating area is under one huge space, the bar (very small) is in the middle of reception and drinks are given out by unfriendly staff in disposable plastic cups, the seating area for the bar consists of various different couches randomly spread across the reception area which gives the feel of you waiting at an airport instead of a bar. The food was either under or overdone, and service generally was dreadful. The staff were young and under trained. The beach bar was unclean and in desperate need of maintenance, we found dead animals while we were eating, you were also expected to scrape your own plate!! the 'beach' consisted of a mound of seaweed and rubbish (there was no sand) so there was no way you could relax on the beach or swim, it was apparent it hadn’t been cleaned for months.
I could go on all day about everything but the fact is it remains a 2 star hotel at most. We transferred after 2 days there to the Royal by rex resorts (supposedly only half a star more than coconut bay) and it was well above the standards, like worlds apart. We paid a lot of money to go on holiday and have lost out on thousands of pounds (virgin have not paid our costs from the royal hotel or our transfer fees) and caused us a lot of stress at what should have been a relaxing time in the sun. Needless to say I blame Virgin for misrepresenting this hotel as a 4 star in the brochure, and the cheek of making it a flagship hotel. Its almost comical.

This was to be our first long haul holiday with our little boy, age 5. Virgin Atlantic were superb we were soon on the wonderful island of St. Lucia. Our transfer to the hotel was not as long as I expected, in fact it was only a few minutes rather than ten as shown in most of the holiday brochures. There was no problem at all with aircraft noise - this isn't Heathrow or JFK and the sight of the odd aircraft was quite exciting.
Our room was on the ground floor facing the Lazy River, one of the Pools + the sea - we could not have asked for better. It was extremely spacious with plenty of storage space + a sofa, chair & coffee table.
I was a little worried before we arrived as I understand their had been a few teething problems and some dreadful reviews so I was very pleasantly surprised with everything.
The standard of service in all areas of the hotel is superb and the staff are very friendly. The food in the Buffet Restaurant was constantly fresh and had a good choice + variety. The two Gourmet Restaurants are located upstairs and need to be booked the day before (preferably by 08.15am to guarantee your space) were fantastic. The Italian and the Asian both adapted their menu slightly to suit our 5 year old.
Swimming Pools - just amazing, the main pool has a gentle slope into it with an unusual island in the centre + a swim up bar. There was also another large pool + two smaller ones (including and adult only area). The Lazy River is great fun for all ages. There were also two Water Flumes but we weren't quite brave enough to try these, perhaps next time.
Kidz Club - This is run by the hotel and I cannot praise it enough. Our little boy usually prefers to stay with us but he enjoyed every moment of the times he chose to attend.
Although this hotel is located on the Atlantic side of the island the tropical scenery is stunning. The beach was kept constantly clean by the hotel but we were quite happy using the pools. We hired a car for a few days and visited the more popular northern part of the island but found this had become far more commercial than on our last visit to the island 8 years ago.
This hotel suited us wonderfully and if all goes well I hope to return in the not too distant future.

We were meant to stay at St James’ Club St Lucia for our honeymoon, we got married in Antigua and thought it would be nice to honeymoon at another island, but when we got to the airport in St Lucia we were told by the taxi driver that the hotel had closed for refurbishment and we had been moved to another hotel.
We had not been informed of this from Virgin before we flew out.
So we got in a taxi and it took us to Coconut Bay. We checked in and went up to our room. It wasn’t very nice at all. We didn’t get any complimentary drinks or fruit, which it stated in the brochure and we were meant to have a complimentary meal in the Gourmet restaurant but it was still being built! It promised a beach, but there wasn’t one and you couldn’t swing a cat on the balcony. We had upgraded the rooms and this was not a sea view. It rained constantly that day. The next day we asked to be moved and we were taken to the St Lucian, which was better but not brilliant the staff were awful! They couldn’t manage a smile.
I will not be going there again and would not recommend it to anyone and I also wouldn’t recommend booking accommodation with Virgin. Their flights are great but their admin is AWFUL!
