Lito Hotel

My sister in law and I have just returned from a week at the Hotel Lito. After only a few hours at the hotel we felt at home. To be fair the rooms are a bit dated decor wise and not big but the standard of cleanliness throughout the hotel was excellent, this includes the pool and grounds.Although the evening meal is a set menu the food was superb (Costas is a very good chef),the best Moussaka ever!!All the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome,and nothing is too much trouble.The views are great either sea or mountian.The taxis are cheap and Maria or Anna will be quite happy to ring and book for you and only £4.00 into Aghios no matter what time of day or night.They will also arrange car hire at very good rates.We wanted a week to chill out and that is what we got with beautiful weather thrown in.If you read the hotels comment book you can see why guests return year after year, Given the fact that this Hotel is rated a 2* you could not better it, would definitely stay there again.

hi stayed at lito for 2 weeks ,enjoyed every minute the staff were friendly and helpfull(even tried to improve our limited greek) MARIA and ANNA on the reception were great they have all sorts of info about places to visit ,also we decided to hire a car the second week,I asked anna and she produced a leaflet with approx prices,she phoned them and said they had an offer for us(better car,better deal) we agreed ,the car turned up at hotel we filled in the forms paid the price(very reasonable) then after 4 days they picked up car at prearranged time from hotel ,just left keys at reception EASY!!! All the staff were GREAT, MANO and MICHEAL serving lovely meals from COSTAS the chef .the rooms were cleaned every day also beds changed daily,beds were firm to hard as stated previously,hotel cleaners did a marvelous job, wonderful views from all sides of hotel,our room looked out to mountains and was on ground floor so had a bigger balcony than upper floors,the hill to get up to hotel is steep and the steps are the last straw but i think in the end worth it for views,lovely bar near pool looked after by KATERINA who was trying to study(we kept interupting for drinks). cant praise it enough...

My husband and I adored hotel Lito, we have just come back from a week there. Although it is about 3 km outside Agios Nikolaos the walk in takes only 25 minutes. But there are plenty of restaurants nearby you can walk to, if you do not want to walk into town. There is a bus stop outside the hotel and there are regular air conditioned buses into Elounda and Agios Nikolaos for 1.10 euros each. But a taxi is only 5 euros into Agios Nikolaos. When you stand by the bus stop if a taxi is going by, they’ll stop and try and persuade you to get a lift with them often at a good price, as they’d rather have someone in their taxi, than no one. All the taxi drivers bargain with you, so you can get a taxi for less if you are good at bargaining. The best part about the hotel being outside the town is that it commands spectacular views of the eastern coast of Crete, all rooms have a balcony and you can request a sea view room. It’s also nice and quiet at night. We stayed there half board and the food was excellent, being family ran, the staff take customer service very seriously. We do not have a bad thing to say about the staff or the rooms either. Breakfast is served between 7.30 and 9.30am and evening from 7.30 to 9.30pm. If they know you are arriving late from your flight they often save food at night. You can also order a pack lunch for the following day if you are going sight seeing from the hotel. The bar has a lovely veranda to sit on and watch the sunset, with a pool table, darts and game boards to use. The hotel also has a small pool which is kept very clean, but to be honest there is a municipal beach across the road called Havana beach. The beach is sand with stones, but it’s perfectly acceptable with umbrellas and loungers to hire each day for 2.50 euros each item. If you go snorkelling late in the afternoon there, you can see some amazing fishes. There is so much culture in Eastern Crete if you go make sure you buy the lonely planet guide and see some of the amazing historical sites nearby. There are so many hire car places near the hotel on the walk into Agios Nikolaos, you can bargain with them and get a car for 4 days for only 80 euros. A lot of the people we met at the hotel return year after year. So it clearly has a fantastic reputation for customer service. I’d not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

We have just returned from a two week holiday at the hotel Lito. What a good choice we made, the views from the rooms are excellent. Maria, Anna, Manolis, Micheal and Mr and Mrs nikki all made us feel like part of the family. Cant wait to go back next year. The pool and surrounding areas were always clean and well kept. The food was lovely (thanks to costas) the rooms are clean (thanks to two very good maids) beds were very comfortable. First visit to CRETE wont be the last. Would recommend this hotel very highly, We were very sorry to come the end of the holiday and didnt want to come home. Thanks again to everyone see you all next year. Get the pina colada and ouzo and lemonade ready see you in june!

stayed at the lito for 1 week,not over the moon with it.rooms allthough small were clean but beds hard.you have no choice of menu what you see is what you get.portions a bit on the small side but help yourself to as much fresh salad as you like.the view around the hotel is great particularly from the pool terrace.all the staff very friendly but the hill and steps up to hotel can be hard work

A super "small and friendly" hotel. Even though there was a steep hill to climb up to the hotel, it was worth it. Staff, ambience, food, pool area, grounds were wonderful. Great views over Mirabello bay and very close (bus ride or taxi) to Aghios Nicolaos. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, and hopefully will visit again in the future.

We have stayed in this hotel twice, and on both visits it exceeded our expectations. The location is spectacular; situated at the top of a hill with a splendid view of the sea and surrounded by hills.The hotel is family run; Maria and her parents are superb hosts. Breakfast and dinner are taken outside with an awning for cover against the sun. Meals are excellent and varied.There is a swimming pool with free use of sun loungers and a very good bar service.We prefer a small hotel with great service and a wonderful relaxing atmosphere. We plan on going back next year.

We booked late for a week's break. Never visited Greece before. This family hotel was a great introduction. We were made to feel welcome and it is clear why other guests that we met return year after year. The food was good and fresh. The views were beautiful across the bay.

A wonderful holiday; the hotel is in a great position with superb views; the facilities are excellent the food is first class and the staff are so friendly! There are a number of quiet tavenas close by and a good beach. One of the best holidays we have had and certainly the best for value for money

Just come back from a 2 week stay in the Hotel Lito in Ixia. The hotel is a 3* hotel and is exceptionally clean with the rooms being cleaned right through every day with clean towles as well. Breakfast is a simple cold buffet of rolls, meat, cheeses and olives, with cornflakes and also baked beans!! Only downside is that it is served between 7:00am and 9:00am. Rooms are very nice and most of the balconies have a sea-view which also gives you excellent views of the spectacular sunsets.The hotel has a fresh water pool which ranges from 2.5m to 4.5m in depth but also has a fenced off childrens pool as well. The snack bar is convenient right next to the pool but the best place is the bar in the evenings where Micaeles will entertain you and look after you until 2:00 in the morning!!There are several good Tavernas within 10 minutes walking distance, best of the lot is Jason No2 (go out the door, turn left and walk down into Ixia until you come to the big traffic island, Jason No2 is just on the left). Go there and tell Iannis or Nikos that you are staying at the Lito and you will be very well looked after. Having tried all the tavernas, this had the best food and all at a very reasonable price. Had many enjoyable evenings in there, try out your Greek as the waiters really enjoy it......All in all, the Hotel Lito is an excellent place to stay in Ixia. It is next to the main road to Rhodes but the traffic noise is dimmed as soon as you close the windows and turn on the air-conditioning.We will definately be going back there!!
