Submitted By: Mr Mr Prendergastif they spent as much time cleaning the pool rather than doing the rooms then they would have a decent hotel.
no toilet rolls replaced, the towels weren't changed during our stay and the room normally gets cleaned in the hotel when u go on holiday but this one was none existent.
u simply get what u pay for which wasn't much at all. u couldn't swing a cat in the room the beds were crap.

Submitted By: Mr G Bwe then asked at reception for a kettle the guy said no no comeback tommorow. so at this point when went to try find some place to eat. the next morning we woke approx 7.30am to the bin men in nearby streets collecting rubbish. we than asked for a kettle again and were told to hire one would be 12 euro! so we went out to buy one at 9 euro!!! the day just got worse the pool was empty and the staff werent helpful at all. we found out of another guest we would have to use the pool across the road which was always busy.
to be quite honest we did not anyone say anything good about the hotel, we had a problem with the door handle in the apartment it fell off! this ment we could not lock the door from the inside and when we were in we had to leave the door unlocked. this also made the room very unsafe and we had a man walk in one night. we reported it reception on numerous occasions and was evenutally fixed four day later on the day we left. we found the staff very unhelpful and they spoke very little english.
salou on the whole is a dirty place with open top bins every place you look and nobody seems to get dog dirt up in the streets. it is very noisey at night and by day.
please if you go take some medication for a bad stomach as we are still suffering now as the whole area must be infested with germs from the bins right outside the hotel

Submitted By: milliejoeour coach driver dropped us off out side we had no idea we had to go to the hotel to book in, they were very unfriendly - so our holiday was ruined straight away, when we got to the room we asked to be changed we had a 2yr old and wanted a lower ground floor - well the room was horrible and the locks didnt even lock the doors or the windows. we did not feel safe with all strange kind off people wandering about apparently alot of the locals live here as well. apart from the good weather i would have gone home straight away - we did complain to rep but they are willing to do nothing - but did complain when we got home - letter after letter but if carry on sending them do you get some answers. we did.
happy reading.

Submitted By: Mr L DERRICKthe only bit of grafitti we saw was in the lifts, the staff are helpful and pleasant.
When arriving we were told about the 100 euro deposit yes you do have to pay it, but you do get it back at the end of your stay, we were on the 5th floor and yes the corridors were dark but look to the left when you come out of the lifts and there is a light switch to switch on the corridor lights. There is a lovely place to eat with entertainment in the evenings next to the hotel called sinatras, then across the road more pubs and just down the bottom of the hill you will find victorias, where there is bingo and karaoke every night till 4 am also various bands etc,
So overall yes this holiday was very cheap for us etc but please do not listen to the negative reviews you get what you pay for, if you want kettles toasters etc then you can hire these from the reception

Submitted By: Miss R RigbyThe nightlife seemed quiet and our party was rather disappointed - we went for a quiet drink then back to the apartment.
We were pleased with the apartment, it was a great space and very clean.
The next day we looked around the poolside and it was lovely. There wasn't music blasting as said in previous reviews. The games room was of a large size and internet access was great.
The nightlife was fantastic; I especially recommend Sinatra’s and Blue Bahia.
Overall we had a fantastic holiday with the apartments exactly how we expected them to be for the price we paid.
I would definitely go back again and this time stay for two weeks instead of one, I recommend this to not just anyone, but EVERYONE!

Submitted By: Miss L UnhappyThe apartment block was full of graffiti. The hallways were dark and very scary especially at night. In the apartment there was no kettle, no toaster, there was burn marks up the wall where the plug points were, the toilet seat was hanging off, the mirror in the bathroom was broken. The door on the wardrobe was missing.
The apartment was not a nice environment to be in and I am glad I didn’t take the children as I would have left straight away. We were supposed to have had clean towels on the Monday but we never got any but as we were only there for 2 days we put up with it, but if you are going for a week or taking children I would advise you really look into the place.

Submitted By: Mr R FloydHere’s the list of gripes: no signs, no reception, no pool, padlocked shut and filthy. Hall ways dark dingy, urine in lift, no cutlery (well 1 each, knife, fork, spoon), no kettle, leaking boiler, ceiling hanging down in kitchen, furniture falling apart. Dogs mess around all outside areas, couldn’t find anyone when we got there and was told by a tenant where to check in.
Rented apartments with dogs? Rubbish bins outside balcony
A complete dump and if it wasn’t for First Choice getting us moved we would have come home.
All agents who sell this holiday should be ashamed of themselves. Couldn’t select - 10 so settled for 1

Submitted By: Mr D WestonFirst of all crossing the road full of waste all over the street the smell is vile and graffiti everywhere; it looks like a section of the Bronx brought to Salou! Anyway you trundle down some steps and walk in to what used to be their reception. There is no one around apart from people who live in the abandoned apartments on the top floor, lights are flickering and graffiti is still present. You start at this point to feel unsafe as anyone can walk in this place there is no security, no maids, nothing.
We found our room that had a used tampon in the bathroom and was dirty all over with a balcony that led to the street that I have just mentioned so anyone is free to walk in to your apartment also. I'm not joking when I say no one is around as in staff there really is no one. Anyway we decide we are not spending a week there and head back to international we explain in what I told her was "vile" and she says "I give you top floor you will like" so we head back to Catalonia.
When she said top floor she wasn't joking we had to head on to the roof past the generators to what seemed like the maids quarters, the lock on the door was bust so free for all again and it was just as vile up there. Anyway we headed back through the pitch black hotel to International and said "no" this time, she said "would you like to stay here" we jumped at it and said yes as this place was lovely she gave us two keys to check out two of their rooms as I could tell she had also had enough and we had a good holiday from then on!
Don't get me wrong I don't moan for the sake of moaning the year before I went to Ibiza and stayed in a hotel that wasn't up to scratch but it was still nice enough and I enjoyed it but this was beyond a joke and would ruin our holiday! While we were at reception we heard a family saying "we have stayed at Catalonia before" who on earth would stay there twice!!!!
Anyway for those trying to find a cheap holiday do not pick this hotel yes its cheap but that is what you will get, your luggage won't be safe while you are out in the day and you will be sleeping in dirt, pay that little extra and stay somewhere else! x
" In terms of room size and location... "
Submitted By: Mr D GilfillanWell the Catalonia apartments are basically in need of a lot of TLC. Very little maintenance, a quick sweep and clean but the pool is huge. No poolside music etc, but there is a bar.
Therefore spent most of time next door in the International.
Booked it cheap, last minute for a week away with my girlfriend. So can’t complain as they say you get what you pay for. At least there is full use of the International so if you get it cheap it’s worth it.
Tip. Not really a good transport link from Reus Airport and taxi fare around 30euro each way so arrange coach transfer.

The corridors are dark and dingy the lifts stink of urine, the pool needs a good clean, for the whole week we never seen a maid and got no clean towels or sheets.
The first apartment we got was filthy and short of a bed. The crockery, cutlery, pots and pans where all filthy. The bathroom i would'nt even let my dog crap in. The furniture and curtains looked like they had been there since the place opened in '92 and the majority of it was falling to pieces (pictures available). So down to reception and we had another room within 5 minutes. This one was slightly better once we had cleaned everything at least we had the fourth bed.
No kettle, toaster, tv or air condition so we had to leave one of the doors open at night, but because the yobs that where there were climbing between balconies had to sleep next to it. They will let you hire a kettle/toaster but you could by new ones for less than the rental price.
The pool area is only open between 10am and 8pm then everthing is locked up, the "poolside bar" does'nt open till 3pm thats if the staff turn up and your not allowed to take any drinks to the pool area, the resturant is non existent as is the nightly entairtainment and if there are no more than 6 people in the bar at ten they just shut it. (one good thing they did have a lifeguard at the pool).
Dont get me wrong Salou is brilliant for a holiday thrid time we have been, with the theme park and water park, we ate out everynight and every resturant was really good, and we also found other apartments that had excellent poolside entairtainment at night.
Go to Salou you will enjoy it but just dont stay at the Catalonia Gardens, these apartments should be taken out off all the travel brochres they dont make for a good holiday.
