St George peaceful and quiet
8 / 10
Aug 2011, CMount

We just came back from staying at the Andrianna apartments in St George and had a lovely time. St George is quiet, and is for couples, but not for families with children, as there is not a lot for them.
The apartments are cleaned every day, with fresh towels every day. The food and drink prices are the same as here, £3 for a pint of lager, and £6.50 for a nice meal. One restaurant not to be missed is the balcony restaurant. Just up the road is Spiros who will rent you a scooter for 10 euros a day if you hire it for 3 days or more. The Golden Heart about 15 mins walk is a lovely pool, and Takis and his family will make you very welcome. We practically had the pool to ourselves. Anthony in the XL bar at the end of the road is waiting to serve you with a cold lager where you can sit and enjoy it overlooking the beach. St George is a lovely place, Andriana apartments is a lovely place to stay, and the Greek people are lovely people. We had a wonderful holiday.

  • Advice: Have breakfast on the balcony over looking the gardens, in the sun, listening to the birds.
  • Good For: Beach

We have recently returned from a very enjoyable holiday staying at the Andriana apartments in St. George south. Our two weeks spanned the end of September and beginning of October - a very quiet time of the year in this resort.
The apartments are very attractive - set in beautiful gardens - and spotlessly clean. They are swept/tidied/rubbish removed every day (except Sunday) and linen/towels changed regularly. The kitchenette is very well equipped with a kettle, toaster, oven and grill. If you need anything else during your stay then all you have to do is ask Andriana. She and her husband live in one of the apartments and can usually be found nearby or down on the beach, a two minute walk away.
The beach itself is stunning. One of the nicest stretches of fine sand and crystal clear sea you could hope for. Andriana rents out sun loungers here, the perfect spot for a peaceful day by the sea.
Inland from the apartments and a half hour walk through olive groves and citrus orchards brings you to the old village of Argyrades. Typically Corfiot and a must see for anyone interested in the old ways of the island.
The centre of St. George is a twenty minute stroll from the apartments - a pleasant walk along the sea front. Here is where you will find most of the tavernas and bars. Highly recommended is the 'Balcony restaurant' - excellent food, good prices and friendly and very efficient service.
If you want to travel further afield and see a bit more of the island, the bus to Corfu town stops right outside the apartments. For the more adventurous try the trip to Albania - a great day out and a real eye-opener!
All in all a really great holiday. Whether you want a beach, walking or touring holiday, St. George is a good choice. Andriana is a fantastic hostess and the apartments are a very friendly and relaxed place to stay. The hand made card we received from Andriana before we left was a lovely surprise. For a peaceful getaway but with plenty tavernas and night-life a short stroll away, we recommend the Andriana apartments.

  • Advice: Excellent beaches and great for walkers
  • Activities: Spend time in the old villages and Corfu town

Nice quiet apartments set in lovely gardens. There is no pool but the Brouskos is only 5 mins walk and has a big, really well maintained pool. Contrary to a previous review regarding how awful the restaurants were I have to disagree as there is a very good restaurant, one of the best I have been to in Greece minutes away from the apartments called Taverna Kafesas. The food is out of this world and the service impecable. Also guests of Andriana get a 10% discount there. Highly recommended.

For Greece - these self catering apartments are furnished to a high standard. The location is great for the beach and the nearby Brouskos pool (both 3 mins walk away).
However, the apartments are at least 25 minute walk from the resort centre which is a pain. That said - it is SOOOO expensive to eat out and the quality of food so poor that you are better eating in anyway!
We were plagues by mosquitos the whoel holiday - which rather spoiled the al fresco elements we look forward to. Take lots of repellant with you as it is cheaper in UK (we spent almost 40 eurod on spray, plug ins etc).

Andriana Apartments

I'm afraid that our experience is not as good as the previous reviewers.
We arrived on 1 May 09 (the first of the season). The rooms were cold and the beds were damp. We told Andriana that the beds were damp and she advised that it would be 6 euros per day for heating. Firstly we objected to having to pay to air the rooms but she didn't seem to care and secondly as we were out all day on the bikes (hired from Yannis at Georges - nice guy) we asked if we could just pay for the evening as the temperature really dropped in the evening and a cold room was not ideal, but she said no. We also had problems with intermitant hot water, again she didn't seem bothered by it.
She certainly didn't come across as someone who went out of her way to help.
The apartments are in lovely grounds and a little out of the way of the main town. For those of you who map the hotel from the Thomson website (as we did) beware, the map is wrong and the hotel is in fact the opposite end of town.
If you do go this early in the season be prepared for a lot of shops and restaurants to be closed and boat trips not to have started yet. Also, we didn't find the beach that clean (litter and dog mess). Perhaps later in the season they make more of an effort.
You can use the pool at the Dora but it is a long walk (about 20mins).

We have just returned from the Andriana Apartments in St Georges South and we had a great time. Apartments are clean, in beautiful grounds and Andriana is very attentive. Just a short 3-4 mins walk from the beach and the same to a pool at Brouskos Hotel where the loungers are free. Andriana gives a discount if you go to the beach and use their sun beds and also a 15% discount if you hire a boat or Jet Ski. If you are driving then turn right at the T junction when you enter the resort, past the church on your right, past two supermarkets and left turn by Kafesas Taverna. Apartments are 100m up the road facing you. We booked the apartments and flights separately with Thomson (instead of the package holiday) and saved almost £400.00, which paid for the hire car! The only difference being that resort transfer was not included but even if you do not want a car then return taxi is about 80.00 Euro, still showing a huge saving. Highly recommended!

this for anyone thats whants a wonderfull holiday to get away from everyday living.this is our second time here we loved corfu the first time we came (our hunnymoon), my husband didnt now what to get me for christmas so he booked a hoilday, we both work hard all year. we have dogs, cats, horses,so its hard to get away, but when you re here its like you have gone to another world it is just so peacefull and the people are so freindly, there are no night clubs, the bars stay open till late with light background music while you eat and drink, the beaches are wonderfull blue clear waters.with fish swimming around your feet.you can hire 2 sunbeds for about 6 euros for all day,the bars will do food for you to take away, there is nothing better than sitting on the beach with a good greek salad watching the waves, not much for kids to do unless you hire a car and take them to the water park. this isnt a holiday for young lads and lasses that want a lively holiday.the appartments were just as thay are in the brochure and on line.
andriana the lady that owns the appartments is wonderfull could not have made us more welcome, the appartments were clean fresh and well mentaned, well what more can i say we had a wonderfull time. dont forget to try the sexy dougnuts thay are good.

Had a great holiday in the Andriana apartments, could not have been better. Never had this standard of accomodation anywhere else in any Greek Island. Just special little touches, such as lavender bags in wardrobes, lavender draw liners, towels changed every other day, beds twice a week. Have to mention the Veranda restaurant, exellent choice of food, and such friendly owners and staff, went back again and again. The Sunset Cafe/ restaurant for a fab English breakfast, english bacon and sausages. It was very quiet when we were there, but we are going back next year, have already booked. Great sandy beach was the icing on the cake

For a quiet, comfortable apartment the Andriana is hard to beat. The hotel is in a beautifully kept garden with sweetly perfumed roses.
Unfortunately there is no swimming pool, but that probably accounts for the tranquillity.
It is within easy proximity to the beach and lots of wonderful tavernas for good food.
Two supermarkets are within 5 minutes walk and stock all you would need including British newspapers- same day available late afternoon/ evening.
Most holidaymakers are return customers to this hotel appt. The owner can't do enough to make your stay welcome.
She hires out Beach beds & umbrellas, boats etc on one of the cleanest bluestar beaches & gives a discount to her guests.
Please note this place is NOT for those who want a night life, or those with small children. Other hotels in the resort would be better equipped.

The apartment is spacious and clean with a safe and air conditioning for a small cost.
Within a 2 mins walk to the beach, (where you can hire a sun lounger all day for 2 euros), bars and restaurants and local supermarkets.
The owners were friendly but did not speak to them much as we had no problems or complaints.
My self and my three boys all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we will be going back next year.
