We stayed at the Stema II apartments in May 06. It is off the main resort road behind the Eastern beach, so is nice and quiet but close enough to walk into town. The apartments are set in a two-storey u-shape with the pool and bar area at one end. I remember the apartments... more

fantastic appartments
just got back from a week at stema, we had a fab time, the appartments are the best by far we have ever stayed in in greece. beds made 6 days a week .only down side towells not changed all week . paula and costas were both fab, they work so hard and are a credit to the owners .the pool is the best in sidari .just a 5 min walk into town, disappointed with the 3 lattle pigs ,food not very good however the greek dancing was good, the best palce to eat was pizza romana which is a little resturant behind the church ,real greek food cooked by greek people. this was the 2nd time in 5 yrs that we have been to stema and the improvements they have made are fantastic, the new bar and reception area are great. can not recomend these appartments enough
Home from home
Subject: Stema2 studios Location: Sidari, Corfu Title: Home from home ID#: 10635218 We had a wonderful time at ths Stema2 during first 2 weeks of October. We booked a cheap deal with Thomsons, 3* named accommodation, and had fairly low expectations. The studios were huge, airy and clean with excellent self catering facilities ( including, kettle ,toaster, 3 cooking rings, grill and small oven. )Maids in every day except Sunday, towels changed every other day and sheets 3 times during our stay. The pool, bar/restaurant and recetion areas were all first class and everywhere was spotlessly clean. However the crowning glory were the staff, Paula and Christos, who looked after everyone and everything perfectly, they always had a smile on their faces, and nothing was too much trouble - they were simply fantastic !!!!!!!!!!!! I am disabled and take my wheelchair on holiday, these studios are excellent for anyone with mobility problems with ramped access everywhere - it meant that I could move around the complex independently - a real bonus!!! The studios are in an excellent location, 2 mins from the sea, and another 5 mins from the resort centre. Sidari may not be everyones cup of tea, but in October there is still plenty going on and it is a good base to visit other places by local bus, coach/boat trips ( use the agents in town, not Thomsons ) or by car. We hired a car from D&M ( on right side of road down to Canal d'Amour) 85euros for 5 days fully inc (Thomsons 50euros a day, special offer !!!!!!!!) and it was great. Set menus in town centre bars are v.good value, and the El Greco at the end of our road has lovely relaxed atmosphere and v.good food. If we had paid double for this holiday we would not have felt short-changed, and definitely think that Stema 2 should be upgraded to at least 4*.
Great Apartments, Good Location
Great apartments in a great location of Sidari. They are set off a little road so away from all noise but only 5 mins to Bars and Restaurants. Pool area was fantastic, large and very clean. Lots of sunbeds and space to move around. The staff were also fantastic and very friendly. Supermarket only 5 mins away with all necessities. You have to provide your own toilet roll! Overall a great place and would thoroughly recommend this.
Good value
We have just got back from a 1 week stay at Stema II. The apartments are in a good location about 10 minutes walk to the centre of Sidari and just 5 minutes away from the sea. The pool is very big, the bar area is nice and there are plenty of sunloungers for everyone. The rooms are massive! But the bathrooms are a bit of a let down, the whole room floods when you have a shower and this leaves a nice damp smell! The towels and sheets were only changed once during our stay. Beware the mosquitos! There are a lot of them in Corfu - we have never come back with so many bites. We've not had this problem on any of the other Greek islands that we have stayed on and so made the mistake of thinking we wouldnt need any repellent - we were very wrong! Also, there seemed to be a lot of wasps around to annoy us, not sure if this was the time of year though... There are plenty of restaurants, bars and shops in Sidari, but you need to walk a bit further away from 'the Strip' for the more traditional greek restaurants. One of our favourites (which is in the strip) was the Roof Garden - no-one hassling you on the door, great food and massive portions! The SOS Bar next door was also very good. We rented a car and explored most of the half of the island above Corfu Town. Agios Giorgios beach was the best one by far and Corfu Town was a good day out. The Kalypso Star glass bottom boat trip is very good and Aqualand is a must! Overall we had a good time - we wouldnt go back because there are so many other places in the world to visit, but we would recommend this hotel if you are considering Sidari.
wonderful apartments
We recently returned from a two week holiday to Sidari in Corfu and stayed at the Stema 2 apartments. Despite our reservations about self-catering on a Greek island as we normally stay in hotels, we were very pleasantly surprised. On arriving at Stema we were greeted by friendly staff who welcomed us and showed us to our apartments, as we had booked two studios. The studios are very spacious and spotlessly clean with large balconies and adequate kitchen facilities. The staff , particularly Costas and Paula, were extremely knowledgeable and helpful and went out of their way to accommodate any request. The owner is always available and friendly and willing to chat, or greet you with a smile and wave as you arrive or leave the apartments. The apartment complex is set close to the beach but well away from the noise and bars of Sidari. The complex itself is relatively small with a spacious clean, well kept pool area with plenty of sunbeds and parasols available. The snack bar serves well presented tasty snacks. For main meals there are plenty of restaurants of all budgets and tastes. In particular we liked Dorothea's, Karavadis (Garissa's) Steak House (which had Greek dancing every night)on the beach front and the Three Brothers Hotel, which all serve traditional Greek specialities. I would advise sticking to typically Greek food rather than English. Sidari main street is very loud and brash with the ever present staff attempting to entice you in with free shots. If that is what you want, as the two teenage boys we took with us did, you won't be disappointed. However, we preferred the quieter Tavernas along the beach front, where it is possible to get away from the heat and noise and enjoy the sea breeze, needed particularly after days spent in over 40 degrees heat. We would not hesitate to return to Stema 2 apartments as they are one of the cleanest, nicest and friendliest places we have stayed.
Lovely appartments
Have just returned from a stay at the Stema II apartments in Sidari. I went with my parents and sister and we had a lovely time. I cannot fault the appartments at all they are extremely spacious and clean. The pool is amazing and and there is a small restuarant / snackbar next to the pool that serves lovely food and drinks and is open from all day and until the early hours (Tip: if you like Iced coffee order a coffee cooler from the cocktail menu made by barman Kostas) The staff Paula and Kostas couldn't be more helpful. the owners Nikos and Niki are always there with a friendly smile and everyone is very approachable. The stema is not far from the restuarants and nightlife of sidari but is out the way enough to provide a quiet and relaxing environment. The beach is lovely and there are pleanty of sun beds and watersports. I would recommend the Stema for families, couples, or people of any age. There is no childrens entertainment but still the place is a safe and friendly environment for children away from any busy roads etc... and for those of you looking for nightlife there are lots of music bars and a few clubs near by. Finally i must recommend the Greek night hosted at the stema on sunday nights for about 15Euros you get an amazing poolside meal and the chance to watch some Greek dancers and even join in a dance with the other people staying at the apartments! If i ever return to corfu i will deffinitely stay at the stema again it's fab!!
Excellent accomadation
I have just returned from a week in Corfu staying at the Stema Studios in Sidari. We booked on-line with Thomson holidays, at a very good price with the added bonus of flying from our local airport. We arrived at the Stema at about 11.30pm, but even in the dark we were very impressed with what we saw. It was obvious that a lot of refurbishment had taken place over the winter. Our apartment was excellent, the biggest studio we have ever been in with 2 beds, a big couch and a balcony. Everything was scrupulously clean and tidy with enough equipment for self catering, fridge, kettle, toaster, 2 hobs and a grill/oven. The bathroom was large and newly tiled. I think the only thing that I didn't like was the shower arrangment which didn't have a shower tray. I think that they are quaintly called wet rooms which they are.....literally. The water goes everywhere and if the tiles don't slope adequately to the drain which ours didn't, the water can run into the main studio room. I bought J cloths to wipe the floor which was also slippery when wet which solved that problem. The pool area was very good with plenty of loungers and umbrellas. The Stema is in a peaceful area but not too far out. A 3 minute walk to the beach with bar'sand tavernas along the road. I recommend Steak House Kawadias which is superb for breakfast and dinner. The food is excellent and the staff very friendly. Another few minutes walk to the Sidari main street which is a lively area, full of shops and bars. Don't be put off by the 'secluded path' to the Stema which is metioned in the Thomson brochure. There are 2 roads. The first which leads to the car park at the Stema is unmade but fairly well lit. If you walk a bit further to the Perros Bar and turn right there is another road which is metalled and well lit. Corfu is beautiful and well worth a visit. We hired a car in the resort which wasn't overpriced and toured most of the island. The roads can be a bit twisty but the scenery is stunning. I hope that the Stema can maintain the high standard we enjoyed.I would recommend it, particularly at this time of year.
Nice and quiet
We received a great welcome to the Stema and the owners and staff remained friendly throughout our stay. The Stema is located down a little dirt track about 10 minutes walk from the main resort center. The area near the little bridge on the way into town really stinks, the drains in the town get bocked when it rains and the smell is awful. There is plenty to do in Sidari but a week is long enough. We went to albania for the day which was a real eye opener. Corfu town is also very nice and well worth a visit. If the Stema was in Spain I would definately return, but the town let it down a little! A great little place away from the traffic and noise of the resort center.
Stema 2
Well, I have to say I was shocked by these apartments. We got back yesterday morning and had to bath before retiring to bed! The bed linen had fresh blood on, we had wires hanging out of the bathroom wall, the maid leaves all your doors and windows open all day so anyone can steal your belongings, we had one hot shower out of the whole week as the owners were too tight to put the boiler on, I could go on... After asking 'Paula' (the receptionist, come bar maid, come cook, come professional liar) to ask the maid to close our windows and doors she told us she would. Next day we arrive back with all doors and windows open again. We asked Paula to rectify the situation to which she replied that if they don't leave the doors and windows open all day the rooms will smell... I wonder why??? Could it be the bedding that has not been washed all season? She then told us there were security cameras all over the place and our belongings were really secure. There weren't actually any security cameras on the entire complex but Paula was obviously well rehearsed in this situation. We got our blankets out of the wardrobe as it was so chilly last week only to find a couple of plasters stuck to them with blood on and I swear they absolutely reaked. The apartments could use some central heating as it was bitterly cold from having the doors open all day. We told Paula about the wires in the bathroom and we were concerned as electrics are so dangerous near water...she told us the wires were not electrical...now forgive me, but....my partner is an electrician and was preeettttyyy sure they were electrical wires! We were told everyday we would get hot water the next morning but we never did and had to wash ourselves with water boiled in the kettle. There were stray dogs roaming the complex which is typical of Sidari. In our opinion Sidari is not the family location it is described as. There are dirty beaches, no real Greek Tavernas, cheap crappy stores (why do they think we like this stuff?), no pavements so you take your life in your own hands as the drivers are crazy. Nowhere is maintained...the roads, buildings, fences etc etc are all falling apart and no one seems to want to do anything about it! If you just want to bathe by the pool and get drunk then you might like it here but there is nothing Greek about the place. Other parts of Corfu and beautiful but I have vowed never to return to Stema 2 or Sidari. Yuk yuk yuk!
Great Location Away From The Crowds
We stayed at the Stema apartments in Sidari in September 2005, we booked it last minute on-line, just went by the description in the brochure (Thompson Greece) and what was available from Yorkshire airports. We were pleasantly surprised by the high standard of accommodation at a reasonable price. The apartments were low density set in the countryside just outside the main drag of Sidari. Very new and modern furnishings, huge comfy beds, loads of storage space and decent showers. Free air conditioning and safety deposit boxes. We had 2 huge balconies, all of the rooms overlooked the pool. From the back door we had a view of the sea. The pool was lovely. big and clean. Lots of sunbeds too! It was a really good place to chill out. When we could drag ourselves away from the apartment and pool it was a 5-10 minute walk to the shops and restaurants, less than that to the nearest supermarket which sold everything including some great pastries. The beach wasnt great but it didnt really matter. The view of the mountains of Albania was stunning. Sidari is very British oriented but there was still plenty of Greek food to be found. It can be a bit tacky (no great local shops - all tourist tat) and there was Sky sports showing footie everywhere, chips with everything. But for a week away from it all it was fine, the food was all really good quality and pretty reasonable. And not half as bad as some other resorts! You can easily get a bus to other parts of the island and the real Greece is just a short walk out of Sidari to the east or west. For a cheap and cheerful break with plenty of sun it is great. Definately recommend the Stema - great location, very high standard of accommodation.
