The location of the hotel is second to none - 20m from one of the best stretches of beach the island has to offer and very close to the small Orthodox church after which the village takes its name.

" Enjoyable and Relaxing Holiday "

We are a family of four with two teenage children (19 and 16 years) and had a most wonderful, relaxing holiday at the Nafsika Hotel in San Stefanos. Having holidayed in San Stefanos previously and visited the Nafsika Hotel's taverna, we decided this year to stay at the hotel itself on half board basis. What a treat! The Hotel had 15 bedrooms which we found comfortable, a lovely pool and gardens and only a stones throw away from the beach. All the hotel staff were great Speros (the owner), Vangelis, Chris, Aris and Jo to name but a few, they were very polite and helpful and would take time to talk to you when they were not too busy. We enjoyed our evenings at the Nafsika, after having a lovely evening meal, in a wonderful setting, it was nice to be able to have a stroll around the village and then return to the hotel to sit and relax with a drink and talk to other residents as well as to Speros and his staff. Our teenage children also enjoyed their evenings, playing pool or joining in on quizzes or just sitting listening to the music. We found the food at the Hotel Nafsika exceptional which is thanks to Speros' mother Theodora's wonderful Greek cooking and would really recommend anybody who is staying in San Stefanos to go to the Nafsika, which is in the older part of the village, for a wonderful traditional Greek evening meal, it is certainly well worth the walk.
We all really had a great holiday and hope to return to the Nafsika Hotel again in the future.

Advice: Lovely village and beach, wonderful people and wouldn't hesitate in going back

Activities: Favourite restaurant - Nafsika Hotel and the beach

Good for: Beach

" Just back from a brilliant week in... "

Just back from a brilliant week in San Stefanos where we stayed at the Nafsika hotel for the 3rd time
This small family run hotel run by Speros and his father George celebrated its 30th anniversary this year and is typically Greek while the rooms are fairly basic, they are kept spotlessly clean and have been upgraded over the years with a modern and effective air conditioning system which you can hire separately.
The hotel is located on the older quieter part of the village right on the beach. Having booked with Speros direct we were rewarded with a room on the 2nd floor that over looked the beach, when opening the balcony the views were break taking, the sunsets are especially something else. The village of San Stefanos has got larger over the years, indeed the village is split into two, you have the old part, where the Nafsika is located, and now the new part with some new development, but it still relatively unspoilt and still retains that Greek charm you will not get in the larger resorts.
What you get here you will not get in a large 5 star hotel. After a few days you feel you are part of the family, Speros along with his staff Vangelis, Chris and Marcus are charming, attentive and friendly. The hotel is half board for this you will get a continental breakfast and evening meal. The evening meals were absolutely superb!!, all Greek and home cooked by Speros’s mum Theodora who must be into her 70’s now, bless her. You get a choice of several starters, main menus and puddings; these were supplemented by a salad and garlic bread as standard. I can be a fussy eater but I never left food on the plate all the time I was there. Even if you are not staying as a guest in the Hotel I would thoroughly recommend you use the restaurant at least once. Usually Speros and his waiters will entertain the diners with some Greek dancing, we seen none when we were there, but after training up Marcus Speros has emailed me to say the dancing has started again.
Summing up here if you prefer busy nightlife and luxury accommodation then San Stefanos and the Nafsika are probably not for you. However, if you prefer a beautiful relaxing and chilled out location, friendliness from the locals you will not find anywhere else, delicious home cooked food then I would certainly recommend this hotel.
I for one will be back soon.

" I first went to the Nafsica in... "

I first went to the Nafsica in 1997--What amazed me was that I met three or four couples that had stayed there before, some go twice a year--I couldn`t believe that people would go back to the same resort,in fact same hotel--I was thinking they didn`t have any imagination and must have been quite boring to repeat the same holiday, something I have never done--We had a seaview room,Spiros and family were great, the food was delicious,a different menu every night for a week, the pool was so clean, the blue water shining in the sun, then the beach was superb and you could hire sunbeds and shades--A lovely bar on the centre of the beach run by a very friendly Greek family and so clean--I loved walking to the little church to the left of the hotel and to see the boats,to the right of the hotel a large supermarket and another nice taverna before going up in to the village--We had everything and so tended to stay on the flat in this lovely hotel with Spiros.I so enjoyed them doing the Greek dancing for us.I have been to various Greek islands but never found a little spot as lovely as the Nafsica and all it has to offer--What did i do then?-Joined the people who return again and chose to holiday there for my 60th birthday in June 2005--they spoilt me,I wouldn`t have been anywhere else for this--now I want to go once more so what does that say about the Nafsica!Brochures I am used to as I was in the travel industry for many years but I should never have judged those earlier people as i have done and am doing the same thing myself--I could stay there forever! xxx

" Hello: I came from Canada to attend... "

Hello: I came from Canada to attend art instructions and stayed at the Nafsika Hotel. Jan Blanch, an artist from England heads to the Nafsika in May and again in September where she offers watercolour courses. The hotel of choice is the Nafsika for all her students. My room overlooked the beach. It was such a beautiful view. The room was immaculate and was cleaned daily; along with a supply of fresh towels.

The hotel is situated in a quiet area but if you're the type who wants to party then it's just a short walk down the road. I can assure you the noise in the area of the hotel will not keep you awake at night like some of the larger hotels.

It's safe for a single female to walk alone, which I thought was amazing. I've travelled throughout other parts of the world and that was a first for me. Honestly, I have never felt more at home in a hotel! ALL the staff are so friendly and courteous. They actually stop and chat and they were always smiling and happy, which I sensed is a reflection of their work environment and hotel management.

Speros, the hotel owner introduced himself immediately upon my arrival. I found this to be such a welcoming gesture.....I don't know of any hotel managers taking the time to say hello when their guests arrive. Speros mother does all the cooking and her dishes were delicious. Each evening there was a different variety of choices on the menu. Everything was hot when it came to the table and the helpings were so big that rarely did I finish eating what was on my plate. I never felt rushed to get through dinner.

There is an outdoor bar off to the side of the hotel beside the pool, where the staff were equally friendly. The pool was crystal clean, and if you wanted to go to the beach, it was just across the road! The beach is all sand and you can walk out quite far, so it's excellent for children.
The beach was also kept clean...no seaweed!

I can honestly say if more Canadians knew about this gem on the island of Corfu Greece,
they'd be travelling to this destination, not only for it's beauty but also for the excellent service and modest price. It's by far the best holiday experience I've had in many years.

" This was our first holiday to the sun... "

This was our first holiday to the sun and I can honestly say if I never went anywhere else again I'd be happy to continue visiting San Stefanos forever! This is the place for a chill out holiday.

The Nafsika Hotel was excellent. Spiro and his team made us feel very welcome and his mother's cooking was second to none! The food was amazing, lots of choice and nothing was too much trouble.

Chris' cocktails were to die for and the pool was spotlessly clean and very welcome in the mid day heat! The Hotel is across the road from the beach. A must see is the sunset - stunning! Friends of ours have been visiting San Stef for years but had never visited the Nafsika choosing to stay in apartments in the main street - only a 5 minute stroll away. They visited us one night and have assured us, they will be back!

The Athens Bar is very popular with locals and holiday makers alike and as long as there are customers - the bar is open! A few shops to browse and various supermarkets which are well stocked and reasonably priced.

If you are looking for a "jumping, night clubbing" holiday then San Stef is not for you.

The Olympia Restaurant was excellent too. Lots of places to have lunch if you're half board in the hotel. I couldn't fault any of the places we ate.

We didn't go on any trips as we just relaxed for the whole week; we had nothing to do and all the time in the world to do it. However, San Stefanos Travel will be happy to book any trips for you.

If you are tempted by San Stef - go to the Nafsika - you won't be disappointed. We were talking to people that have been going there for years.

" We went to the Nafsika Hotel for our... "

We went to the Nafsika Hotel for our first girlie trip after our exams. It was the most amazing holiday in the world. The hotel was absolutely perfect for us - the pool was so nice and it was right on the beach front. It was a short walk into the town with the bars and clubs. The food was really nice, and not to mention the waiters - hooray, costas and Spiro !!! Fantastic holiday!

" This was our 2nd visit to the Nafsika... "

This was our 2nd visit to the Nafsika (last one in 2004). It has just got better! Food is fantastic - the best Greek Food we have ever eaten.

The taverna is the most popular in the village - which speaks for itself - the food is cooked to order and everything is consistently good. The rooms are basic but spotless and the towels and sheets of good quality. Speros, George and Theodora are such a lovely family. Their staff - Vangelis, George, Costas, Chris, Carolina and the lovely maid treat you like friends and nothing is too much trouble. It really is service of the highest standard with a smile. The warmth of the place does make it difficult to beat. We have not been able to find this anywhere else - but we do look!

Thomson have not given the hotel a gold award now - something about a family who wanted curry and, because they were at a late dinner, it had run out and so complained to Thomson. This is absolute nonsense! If ever there was a hotel that deserved what a gold award stands for this is it. Let's hope Thomson sorts this out. Go for relaxation, good food, cleanliness and the 'Greek ' experience. You will not get better than this.

" This was my 13th visit and it is like... "

This was my 13th visit and it is like coming home to see my family. I always cry when I have to leave. As always I am looked after by everyone. Even though San Stef has been built up over the years it still has its own charm.

Well what can I say about my Corfu family and friends that all look after me.
I shall return time and time again.

Thank you

Wendy Whitehead

P.S Thank You

" The Hotel Nafsika is a shining gem in... "

The Hotel Nafsika is a shining gem in the lovely village of Agios Stefano’s. Expertly run by Speros and his family it is positioned minutes from the beautiful beach but tucked away from the main bars at the village centre. The hotel is basic but very clean with good American towels, sheets that fit the bed and a “proper” shower cubicle. The food is cooked by Theodora - Spiros” Mum - and a fabulous cook! Taverna times are offered to hotel guests - breakfast between 9 ad 11am and dinner from 7pm till 11pm. Authentic Greek hospitality, low key, effective management, happy, friendly staff and food to die for. What more could you want? Go to this small and super hotel and have a Greek Holiday that will relax and revitalise you. I know you won’t be disappointed. We are going back again!
