Express By Holiday Inn Inverness Hotel

We booked this hotel on an offer on their website - these are sometimes advertised in the national press and are things like www.hiexpress.co.uk/leisure (or mail instead of leisure) etc. The rooms are standard for this chain, basic but it was very clean. I stayed at this hotel at the beginning of August for 4 nights. At first the location of the hotel was a bit of a concern (a mile or two out of the city centre). However, it turned out to be fine as the hotel is close to all the major roads out of inverness (in all directions) so getting about in the car was fine. There is a pub next door (although I didn't use it) and it is 2 mins drive away from a major retail park, where amongst other things is a large supermarket, cinema and host of fast food places, which came in handy after... more

My wife and I recently stayed here for three nights. The staff were friendly and efficient, the rooms clean, and the lounge/public areas were fine. The Hotel is about two miles from the City centre. There is a Retail Park nearby where you can pick up a bus into town or a cab will cost between £5-6. The Hotel only provides a continental style breakfast, however we ate in the Snow Goose which is across the car park. The food was good with plenty of choice. Stayed in this hotel while on business, Excellent rooms, efficient friendly staff and ice machine/vending. Tesco Supermarket and Pizza hut , vue cinema etc all within 5 mins yet the hotel is very quiet,...all in all a good stay

I stayed at this hotel on the 30th and 31st May whilst attending a conference in the area. The standard room rate is rather high for this class of hotel but the chain that owns this hotel often does rate offers in Newspapers and via their website. I paid about half the walkin rate. The hotel is handily located for transport links and is conveniently about 5 minutes walk from a shopping complex with a range of shops (including a 24 hr Tesco's). The experience can be summed up with the sign inside the check in desk (meant for only the employees to see but still visible) that said: "Rule 5: If it's too complicated, we don't do it". They do not have storage for luggage, if you need to leave it, they will leave it behind the desk where anyone has access to it. Some of the staff members were nice, but not enough to outwiegh the attitude from others when asking questions.

We have stayed here on countless occassions. IMHO it is the best Express by Holiday Inn in the UK. Nothing is too much trouble, and service is always given kindly and with a smile. Very many places could learn a lot from this hotel.
