We travelled with thomas cook on 23/09/2011 we were a party of 4 adults and all of us enjoyed it so much that we have decieded to go back next year. the hotel was clean, staff very friendly and maybe because of the month we arrived it wasn't noisy. The walking distance to shops and beach was good to. the food was good with a large selection to choose from.

We have just come back from Hotel Calypso and we enjoyed it very much. I would have been happier however if we were in building 1 as they had better balconies and got sun on them during the day (building 2 gets no sun!)
The maids came every day and were polite, bar staff were polite except the ones that couldn't speak English but it wasn't that they were rude they simply didn't speak English. Restaurant staff were polite and always very welcoming.
We went all inclusive and the food was ok, a bit repeatative but it wasn;t bad (we are also very fussy eaters but other people were piling up their plates)
My 9 year old loved it and the live shows in the night.
There is always the option to go to another restaurant off the resort and plenty of places to visit if you want a break from the hotel.
Infact we liked it so much we are going back next year - in building 1 this time though.
Oh yes and one of the barmen was a little Spanish hottie (very easy on the eye:-))
Overall a great time xx

Me and my boyfriend stayed in this hotel for 9 days. I had read some bad reviews esecially abut the calypso 2 hotel so I requested to have a room in calypso 1. The entrance and reception area of the hotel was lovely and the room was basic but clean, had eveything you wanted. The pool area is a good size but it was difficult at times to get sun loungers as people reserved them before breakfast. The food was good and there was plenty of it, but neither of us are fussy eaters! The hotel was also within easy walking distance to the main part of Salou and the bus stops.
The down fall of this hotel was that the beds were extremely uncomfortable and I had to take an extra blanket from the wardrobe to sleep on to make the bed a bit more comfortable. The walls are also VERY thin and we unfortunately had very roudy people in the room next to us who came in at 2 or 3 in the morning shouting and were up again at 6 or 7. I know this wasn't the hotels fault but it ruined our holiday as we were under slept and very tired then during the day.

i as every one else read reviews before going away. we read many mixed reviews on hotel calypso but decided to give a go BIG MISTAKE! I have never been on a holiday where i was so disappointed.were to start
on arriving we were handed keys for hotel 2 my heart sank as we walked up to room 006 the carpet was stinking dirty, got into the room to be greeted by not just a few, but honest now millions of ants. went down to complain they said we would have to wait till next day to be moved(kids screaming by this time) then after leaving our cases and going for a wander we were greeted by the hundreds of flies over the food outside the bar med!! on returning to the room an hour later then the maid was knocking with some spray to kill the ants, which left my son gasping for breath. after complaing for the first week we still did not get moved but got bit most nights.
the third night in i went to pick up my bag out of the wardrobe to find it soaking wet unusual!! only to find next door shower was running straight into the wardrobe, thought they have to move us did they hell!! the sent maintance out laughable really but it werent he put some tape around toilet and said hat done NO it not it from next door no he said its ur toilet.
the reps were the worst and shameful i had ever met.
the food was appaling too afraid to eat most of it, the kids food was great if they wanted to live on chicken nuggets and rubber burgers.
My child was asked if he wanted to join kids club and was shamefully removed after an hour because they forgot to tell us that it is run by thomson and we had booked with thomas cook only to upset him even more they asked for his t shirt back he was sobing his little heart out.
the entertainment was utter rubbish, if u can understand spanish and them repeating juicy juicy million times in one night ud love it.
the cleaning was the best filmed the maid pulling shhets off the bed only to turn them over and put them back on again great!! overall cleaning was appaling, my husband asked the maid on a few occasions for the brush and mop to clean the floors as they were stinking.
salou itself was a very nice place.
but Beware of hotel calypso dodgy staff, cleaning, interior and food not for the faint hearted.

We have recently returned from an all inclusive family holiday at the calypso hotel in Salou.
we had a fantastic haoliday and cant wait to go back.
The hotel was clean and tidy and was cleaned every day by friendly and helpful staff.
the reception staff were very friendly and nothing was a problem for them.
The bedrooms were basic but again very clean and tidy.
as for the food, it was amazing, there was plenty of choices and even has a kids corner.
Entertainment was good - different show every night but you can also go into the apple bar for live sports or the cinema, or even go down to the town centre. There is a childrens play area as well as the games centre with pool tables, video games and even a bowling alley and internet cafe - again there was plenty to choose from. Brilliant 9/10

We have just returned from a 10 day stay at this awful, filthy, disorganised and pathetic excuse for a hotel. The state of the pool area was disgraceful, the paved area was a minefield of abandonded food andpaperplates and plastic drinks containers, no one appeared to be cleaning it during the day, although I must admit it was swept overnight. The interior of the Hotel, in particular the stairways were not cleaned at all in our time there, drink and food remains were evident all the time. A fire broke out in the building termed Calypso2 at 9 0'clock one morning and no evacuation or warning mechanism seemed to be in place - it was not until the Fire and Police Services attended did the fire alarms sound, but still no organised evacuation procedure, in fact we were left to our own devices throughout. The food quality is dreadful, it was never better than luke warm at most. For some reason it sems to be a Hotel that attracts hordes of single parents with unruly children, clearly of school age, even though the British School term started two weeks ago. The Pool was taken over by these wannabee ASBO candidates and, believe it or not our own tour operator rep told us that the Hotel is fondly referred to as the Mothercare base, by them. The small children were not the problem, it was the 10 year old plus that caused difficulties. Significantly, parents of the pre school children were most affected by the unruliness of the older children and we saw several incidents of friction devbelop because youger children were being frightened in the pool by other's behaviour.
The only good point about the Hotel Calypso was leaving it.

just got back from 2 weeks at hotel calypso, what a dissapointment when we arrived we were given our room key to calypso 2,we kept an open mind as i had read it had been refurbished but as we got out of the lift we were disgusted at the dirty carpet dont get me wrong it is hoovered every day but not very well and the walls were different colours and dirty and ripped.when we opened our door we were greeted with 4 single beds which made the room really small not very good when there is 4 of you,we were lucky as our kids are 10 and 5 so they didnt take up too much room as you have no privacy except the bathroom.the walls are paper thin if someone banged on the wall you could see it shake and this happened often,we could hear the man next door snoring not good especially as i cant stand my husbands snoring.the food was ok very repetative, the restaurant staff were fab really happy, polite, and willing to help,so were the bar staff.there is no kids club if you are travelling with thomas cook its a thompson run club and if your not with them you cant go.the best part of the hotel is the entertainment staff they were great my kids loved them, both laurens, zoe, yoel, rick, torres, carlos, rami and ma carmen.would reccomend the barcelona zoo and nou camp tour.will not be going back to this hotel.

We arrived with two 17 year olds and a nine year old child. On arriving we were checking in and put our suitcases in the hallway beside us. Within seconds my bag was taken. Didn't realise it until about ten minutes later. Reported it, the receptionist was very helpful but when I cancelled my credit card it was already used and 900 euro taken from it. No come back as pin was in mobile in a six digit number. Clothes, shoes camera etc was taken. It put a damper on the holiday. Didn't like food and no sun beds unless you got up really early. Wouldn't go back again. Keep an eye on your bags.
- Advice: Keep an eye out for your bags because they are looking at people coming over.
