As hotels go, this was not a great...
5 / 10
May 2006, Miss E Lonsdale

As hotels go, this was not a great one, but did have some good things about it.
So ill start with the negatives, the majority of the reception staff seemed unwelcoming and miserable most of the time and you almost felt like a burden when you approached them as they never smiled.
When we got to the airport we where told that we would not be able to get into Salou as there was a bike race on and the roads where closed so we had to spend 5 hours waiting around in a neighbouring resort. That was okay to some extent as that could not be helped but we should have been told about it before we left.
We never got the room that we booked i.e. we booked a twin room which should ideally sleep 3; their solution was to stick a camp bed in which was not ideal for an adult.
The rooms are very small and it’s a case of taking turns to walk along the room to get to the bathroom and balcony. The rooms are very basic and we had a plug which was hanging of the wall, which was never fixed.
The worst thing about the hotel is the noise level, the walls seem to be made of paper and you can hear everything your neighbour gets up to, and what the brochure fails to tell you is that the hotel is next to ‘Flash Back’ which on a Friday and Saturday night turns into ‘rave’ for the locals so you are graced with a thumping noise from about 1 till 6 in the morning, as there is no soundproof against the racket. So if you unlucky enough to face the pool side, then you will hear it thumping away.
On the plus side the hotel rooms where kept immaculacy clean. The food even though got a bit repetitive by the end of the week was nice and there was generally a good selection available considering how many people they have to cater for.
The pool area was nice and kept clean, they never had parasols which I think is essential for when it gets to hot.
The hotel is in a central location so it’s easy to get to the beach and shops which are minutes away. Overall the noise is the hotels biggest downfall, but I did enjoy my stay there.

I am 16 years old and I thought the hotel was lovely I really enjoyed my holiday I was one of four eldest being me and youngest being not quite 1.
They made you feel welcome. there was an entertainment show on every night. The food was lovely! There were two pools, a bar with friendly waiters. over the road was a English supermarket which was handy.
There was a toaster there!
Definitely going again to the same hotel.

APARTMENT: On arrival we found the...

Aug 2005, Mr P O'Hara

APARTMENT:
On arrival we found the apartment was clean and well kept, with air conditioning, the apartment was cleaned daily throughout our 2 week stay. The towels were changed daily and the bed linen every other day.
There is no swimming pool in the complex, however you are allowed to use the pool of their sister hotel, some five minutes walk away. There is also entertainment on in the evening in this hotel but not much variety.
The food was satisfactory but could have been kept hotter as it was buffet style, also there was not much choice for children.
Apart from one incident (people in the apartment next door) we experienced no noise throughout the night. Overall we were happy with the apartment, with no horror stories to tell and would recommend it.
SALOU:
One of the best holiday destinations we have been to, fantastic beach, when ever we went to the beach there was always room, 3 euro charge for sunbeds.
Plenty of eating and drinking venues and for those British people who want "home from home" you will not be disappointed, recommend the "Old Brown Cow" for breakfast and "Danny Boy's" for a drink and entertainment in the evening.
Loads of shops mostly selling tack, there is some good stuff, depending what you are looking for, haggling is recommend.
There are plenty of coach tours, boat trips and shows available, do not get your tickets from the holiday guides, it's cheaper to shop around.

Jul 2005, Miss L Boothby

I really enjoyed my holiday here the staff were friendly and tried to help if they could. The beach is 5 minutes away and the theme park 15, which is brilliant. Plenty of places to eat and drink and the shopping were great. The food at the hotel could of been better but I am fussy, my boyfriend had no complaints, plenty to choose from though. We read the reviews before we went and were dreading going but we had a fantastic time. The rooms were kept immaculate and the towels changed everyday if they were left in the bath, I am even taking my children next year as they would love it.

Jul 2005, Mrs R Barron

The hotel was terrible. The food was awful, the breakfast was terrible, and the evening meal was the same thing every night, the choice was very limited and we had to eat out every night!
Put me off going half board ever again.
The hotel rooms were very small and very basic. The colour scheme was dated, orange and green, looked like something out of the 70's.
I was located at the front of the hotel and couldn’t sleep all night as it was right on the main road, and the main road did not calm down at all.
Was next to a construction site and a nightclub!
The hotel staff were the most unhelpful ignorant people I have ever met, refused to help you with problems. The transfer coach was late picking us up, and they refused to telephone us for a taxi. Nobody could speak English, and nobody could understand you.
Did not cater for the British at all.
Was never in the hotel, spent most of the time in the theme park, the only good thing about this hotel was it being within 15minute walking distance of the theme park and water park.

Jun 2005, Mr I Lambert

Well after reading some reports I was tempted to change my booking. Well I’m glad I didn’t, booking off the Internet the room was a bargain £40 a night half board and I found the hotel to be clean, tidy and well kept.
The location was fine being 5 mins from the beach and an easy 15 min walk to the theme and water parks. Yes the food isn’’t of the highest quality but threes plenty of it and the pool area closing at 6pm was a little strange, but overall the rooms were as expected, staff helpful and the building work next to the hotel wasn’t to obtrusive as its well on the way to completion.
5 star it isn’t but a good base for a holiday.

We have just returned back from this...
3 / 10
Aug 2004, Mrs L Goddard

We have just returned back from this hotel and it ruined our holiday.
Salou is great but this hotel should never be advertised as a 3*. We queried this and a rep told us that it was a Spanish 3*. This wasn’t explained to me when I paid full whack!
My 9 year old had to sleep on a camp bed that collapsed every time she lay down. We asked for it to be changed, only for it to be replaced with an identical one.
The food was very poor and although we were half board we had eat out every day. There were no toasters at breakfast time and bread got very boring after 14 days. I questioned the rep about lack of basic equipment such as a toaster and was told that there had been a fire due to a faulty toaster.
The place had not been refurbished as it looked like a shrine to the seventies, so the fire couldn’t have been that bad. The bar was dark and dingy and the sofas in the reception were slashed and dirty. We more or less paid twice with how much it cost to e at out.
Rooms were very basic. We had to keep one of our cases on the balcony as the room was too small to keep them both in the room. Mould on the bathroom walls. Could not use shower as it flooded the bathroom every time.
One side of us was a nightclub, building work the other.
This hotel does not cater for the British.
We offered to pay to move hotels and were told that we could move but we will be 30 minutes away by train.
The only positive thing I can say about this hotel is the location, which is good because we had to spend as much time at Porta Ventura as we could!

Jul 2004, Mrs M Webb

Well what a week, not enough time if you ask me. Go for two weeks if you have kids, there so much to see and do. If you just want to relax, I suggest you get a sun bed on the beach, as people tend to ignore your space and sit on top of you if you are on the sand (no space is sacred).
A great break and we will definitely be returning, the Hotel was good, the food was not bad a good selection, When you’ve had such a busy day you will find something to your liking!
The theme park is well worth a visit, get your hand stamped to return at night and watch the displays, Superb. Make sure you get a good seat at the front as it’s all done on the water and if you are a little shorty like me, you don’t see a great deal.
Have a Good One!
