" this hotel was amazing. there was... "

this hotel was amazing. there was loads to do there and the staff were great especially rolsten in the piano bar me and my friend were under 18 at the time so got chucked out of the disco earli which was a bit rubbish but then we got to go for a sing in the piano bar because we had nothing else to do. when we stayed there was a hurricane 'hurricane dennis' but fortunately it didnt hit the hotel bad. During this time the staff couldnt do enough for you they evacuated the ground floor rooms and put on extra entertainment for us.the hotel was really clean and the food and drinks were amazing and so was the hair and beauty salon!! i would reccomend anyone to go here, youll all really enjoy it!!

" Me, my mum, dad, younger brother,... "

Me, my mum, dad, younger brother, granny and granda went to Beaches Boscobel 2weeks ago... it was our 2nd time going to Jamacia.

ENTERTAINMENT: Beaches is great for all ages... all though the entertainment (Seseame street) which is the only entertainment, really wasn't very good. The entertainment for older people finished at 10:30 and it wasn't up to much though! The disco is OK... the music is good and stuff but everyone under 18 got chucked out after 11:30.

FOOD: The food here is amazing! The Bayside buffet is good when your starting to get bored of the other restaurants. The Arizona is great for steak but the menu gets boring after a while! its on the beach and if you get take-out you can go and eat on the pier which is amazing! The Venetian is really nice too! The Crostinni is a must for an appetizer :P The bbq park during the day is also really good for snacks n all!

DRINK: The cocktails are amazing,! they stock all british branded alcohol! The bar staff are soo funny and nice! carlyle and Godfrey are living legends!! lol Ask for a 'dirty banana' or a 'bob marley' if you want to get really smashed!! haha

ACCOMMODATION: We first got a room near the disco which was kinda noisy and there wasn't enough beds, so they brought down a camp bed for the night which we didn't mind because we were so tired haha! But the next day they moved us and my grandparents to adjoining rooms over looking the pool which was brilliant!

" We used air Jamaica to fly to... "

We used air Jamaica to fly to Kingston and quite honestly we have never experienced such a dreadful airline, our flight was cancelled and we were told to go home and return the next morning and we would be compensated, the next morning we arrived and were told the flight had been cancelled again!

This was at 8am the next flight would be 6pm as we were so far from the airport and fast running out of cash we waited, not a good start to our holiday, and we were never compensated I wrote letter after letter, sent emails and telephoned these were never answered. However when we reached our beaches hotel they could not do enough for us my husband and I were upset at losing 2 days of our holiday and complained.

They were brilliant and gave us an extra 4 days free holiday to compensate and arranged all the flights for our return flight and even got air Jamaica to upgrade our seats for free, so even though the airline service was so poor, it pays to tell your hotel as soon as you arrive and see what they can do for you.

" Accommodation: We stayed in a basic... "

Accommodation: We stayed in a basic family room. It was simply furnished but clean, with towels and sheets changed every day and room made up and cleaned every day. We had 2 double beds and a sofa bed, which meant that 2 of our 3 boys had to share, but we had a quick word with reception and they brought us an additional single bed for the boys (yes the room was big enough) - so that was great. Air con as wonderful!

Food: Amazing choice, quality and variety. We tended to eat at the Bayside buffet as our kids preferred it, but there was so much choice even there that it wasn’t a problem. Friday night - all you can eat lobster! There was good quality salads, desserts and lots of main courses. Most evenings they also had a chef making special meals to order, like lobster, crab, pasta dishes etc. The Venetian was lovely. We sometimes fed our kids at the Bayside, and then ate at the Venetian. Not huge portions, but we prefer quality to quantity - and it was sufficient for us - but this is perhaps the problem with some people complaining about the food - not enough for greedy people :-) The Arizona was okay - standard TexMex stuff, ate there twice for a change. Eleanors (have to dress for this) - food good and ambience great, but only ate there once as it was over 16s only, plus we preferred The Venetian. The only place we didn’t eat was the burger bar - why have burgers when you can have lobster?? Also for kids - ice cream and popcorn. In all - you could get something to eat around the clock if you wanted it.

Drink: Wow - whatever you want, whenever you want it! Including branded drinks and reasonable quality wines like Hardys and Gallo, plus pretty nice champagne. Any cocktail you want - we tried to catch out the waiters by asking for obscure English cocktails - and they knew them all! Soft drinks, water and slush for the kids were also available, as were a variety of hot beverages.

The resort: Very clean and constantly being tidied up. Pools were nice. Beach towels plentiful. They did run out sometimes, but were replenished within 30 mins usually.

Staff: very friendly and helpful, particularly The Venetian and the bars. Only time I saw a staff member ignoring anyone, was an American guy who was very obnoxious and demanding.

Water sports: We sailed - my husband was taught to sail by Don, who then let us take out the boat ourselves. Scuba - had lessons and my son also got his PADI certificate with Zia. Banana boat - went on it every day! Glass bottom boat - great fun! Yes you have to book, but we did everything we wanted, when we wanted it - usually booked the day before for the next day.

Beach: Small but clean, and quieter than the pool. Yes there are some guys in boats selling shells, but they are good natured and funny! Plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas.

Kids clubs: Looked okay, but ours wanted to be with us - and we agreed as it was a family holiday. My eldest son used the teens evenings as a way to meet other teens - and he was happily entertained by some great lads he met from Boston. My youngest son got a lovely girlfriend from Ohio too!

Beauty salon - expensive, but lovely. I paid $US90 for a full body aromatherapy massage.

Golf - husband played twice and really enjoyed it. Lovely course, all fee. But you have to pay for AND tip the caddy - but it still costs much less than a good course at home, and the caddies are pros. My kids also had golf lessons - all free including balls and clubs, and their Pro Bill took them for a tour of the golf course in a buggy - they loved it. I tipped him $10.

Tipping: Not allowed on resort, but expect to tip on trips and at golf course.

Entertainment: We went for 2 weeks and the entertainment was repeated the second week, so a bit of a disappointment. Some nights were good like the steel band, but others a bit tedious like the "Who wants to be a millionaire quiz". The disco was a bit smelly, so we didn’t use it.

Trips: Were good but expensive, and were really the only way of getting out of the resort. We did mountain bike trail, horse riding and shopping trip. Note: if you go shopping avoid the craft market unless you are a brave person, my husband was offered a bag of white powder for $20!

Currency: Use US$ not Jamaican - everywhere accepts American, and it is the best currency to use.

Internet access: In the lobby, but very expensive, instead, ask them if you can use the internet room. There is a charge, but it is much less.

Hair braiding: Got mine done on the beach by local Jamaicans. Cost US$40 rather than the $80 on the resort. You do have to haggle though, and you have to go off the private beach to the public beach, but don’t be worried about it, they are very friendly, and just trying to make a living. There are some small shacks selling gifts too - but haggle over the price!

Overall we had a lovely time, it was our first trip to Jamaica and first AI too. My kids made some great American friends and they are emailing each other already!
