Comments:  just returned a week ago from the cala font hotel , was a bit worried before departure after reading other peoples reviews, i found the hotel very nice , reception staff were polite and very helpfull , hotel room was just as any other 3star hotel i had stayed in previously, basic but very clean all you need on holiday and the bed sheets were changed half way through the week , and i didnt hear much noise from any of the rooms next to mine, i met the maid on the corridor many times and found them pleasant, the hotel prices were abit expensive , the first day i arrived i bought 3 average burgers , 1 small plate of chips , 2 soft drinks and a pint of lager , that cost me 17 pounds , very expensive i thought, but the prices all round cap salou were expensive, spain is not cheap anymore , infact prices are higher than everyday things in glasgow, the hotel is situated next to a cove beach , very nice ,lovely outlook. During the day at the pool they had water polo for the kids then for the adults one day a clown came in to entertain the kids , and one day they organised inflatables in the pool, which the kids really enjoyed, what i didnt like about the hotel was that they chained all the sun loungers every nite and they didnt unlock the chain until 10am in the morning . and by then there was a que of people waiting for a bed , and within minutes there was none left, The hotel entertainment was not great, but i went into mickeys bar on a few occasions and it was not bad in there, theres not much in cap salou it self , but salou is a short bus journey away , but the bus fare was a bit steep , 2 adults and 1 child 11euros return , i thought that was over priced as your only on the bus 10 minutes, the food in the hotel was ok , not brilliant but not bad either, my favotite thing was the homemade rice pudding very tasty, and they also had fresh cooked salmon one evening which was also very nice , i enjoyed my stay at the cala font , me and my husband and my 8yr old son , we went to portaventura theme park which we enjoyed and also the waterpark in la pineda (aquapolis)but can be expensive ,just aswell i have only one child, the resort cap salou is more suited to familys or couples looking for a quiet time, not much there for teenagers, the weather was also very nice when i was there ,spain is so much more expensive now so i would take extra euros just incase, overall i enjoyed staying at the calafont hotel,

Comments:  We arrived home yesterday and I have to say, it was like a huge relief to know that we would'nt have to eat anymore of the Hotel food or stay in the tiny (dirty) Hotel room anymore! The food was terrible, every night was basically the same and although they said they had a food table for kids, it consisted of chips chips chips, it got so bad that my 7yr old son started to eat lettuce and tomatos!!! Our bathroom shower would not drain so every evening being last in the shower was like standing in a pool of water and it would be like this until the rooms were cleaned the following day. Rooms were not cleaned every day and the maids were very very unfriendly. The pool is very very deep at one end, if you have kids it is really quite unnerving. Saying that we only got to lay by the pool 1 day, every day was the same - Germans queuing for beds from 07.30am and leaving there towels on the beds although most of the time they were'nt even there!
I found the place very very expensive, 3 drinks (1 being Fanta) was on average 13.00Euros. Presents were just tat but very expensive tat.
I would not recommend this Hotel nor would I recommend Salou.

Comments:  ive just returned from my weeks holiday at hotel cala font in cap salou..the hotel itself is a nice place, however the rooms are very basic..just 2 single beds and a tv, no chairs to relax in,we stayed full board and i wouldnt recomend this as the food was very poor and very repetative, also you only get one hot drink provided and that comes with breakfast.the rooms are cleaned on a daily basis floor swept and moped and bathroom cleaned, but no bed change in the week we were there.the hotel is situated on a very steep hill and in a beautiful area, you have a few bars and shops there, i can highly recomend route 66 if your looking for something good to eat,and we had a few good nights entertainment in the local tap house and mickeys bar.theres also a small beach at the cala font it gets very busy you can rent a sunlounger for 4euros and you can hire a pedloe for 10euros an hour which the kids enjoyed.entertainment is provided at the hotel and the younger children seemed to enjoy this, not much for the teenagers though.everything you need is on the door step..buses,chemist,supermarket,the cheapest being the one further up the hill next to the ontario appartments where they sell mostly everything.

Comments:  Well, where to begin. Myself, Brother, Mum and Dad stayed in this hotel. We have been to Cap Salou before, stayin at the Ontario Apartments which i must say was a much better accommodation than this one. The Hotel itself was nice, not the best, but it was satifactory. The very big let down about this hotel was the Food. Let me tell you know, if you are planning on staying full board or inclusiv, i recomend you stay at a different hotel. Disgusting is the word to discribe the food. There really isn't enough food to chose from, unless you like Goat, Pigs head, Monk Fish, and to top it all off, you have to eat the same meal every day for how long you are planning on staying. There is no change in the menu, and after two days or so, i can gaurentee you will be ccomplaining about the food.

The Entertainment is not pleasing at all. If the hotel is providing entertainers then they should atleast be good. For entertainment, me and my family had to walk down to the small tap bar across the road, where the entertainment is a lot better.

At the hotel there are a lot of Russian people, which i didn't have a problem with, but that all depends on your opinion. There wern't a lot of English people there.

The Staff were friendly, but the one thing was, the cleaners. If your expecting a lie- in (Sleep till 11 am) then i wouldn't bank on it as the cleaners just walk into your room with their key and wake you up at about 8 in the morning, and thats everyday!

Overall, i wouldn't recomend this hotel for anyone staying full board or inclusive as in my opinion, i didn't like it.

Thanks for taking the time to read, i'm just sharing my opinion with you to make sure you choose the right hotel/apartment.

Comments:  Just got home after spending a week at the Cala Font and we had a wonderful holiday. The rooms although basic we're comfortable and cleaned everyday, which is definately needed with all the sand and dust. We had a room on the first floor at the rear of the hotel, which suited us fine as we have 2 young children so it was away from any noise on the beach/pool etc.
The food was good, with plenty of choice. Even I managed to find something and I am really quite fussy. Only problem was the fact you can only get a brew at breakfast time, and I'm not used to only running on one cup of tea a day! The time bands for meals we're brilliant and we never felt rushed to get to breakfast/dinner and we took advantage of being able to swap our dinner ticket for a lunch on a few days. For those with babies they had microwaves availiable in the dining room so no need to worry about heating meals/sterilising bottles!
The staff were all lovely, and especially friendly to our children. We didn't really use the entertainment or mini club as our children are only 1 and 4, so can't really comment on it.
We found plenty of stuff for us to do and never visited the same area more than once. The area is hilly but that is the same for the majority of Spain. If you need to go anywhere definately take the bus. They are never more than 15minutes apart on the way to Salou/Cambrills/Port Aventura and La Pineda. We did do the walk into Salou which with the children took about 45 minutes there but only about 30 back as it was all down hill, it was a little tiring but well worth it for some of the views were just beautiful.
Cap Salou itself was perfect for us. Our son loved the play park at the Tap House. Mickey's Bar has a kareoke and quiz most nights which was really enjoyable. There were plenty of "supermarkets" to choose from for bits for lunch, and bottles of water!

All in all we had a brilliant time and would definately go again!

Comments:  Recently we went on a family holiday to the Cala Font Hotel, which to be honest after some bad reviews we weren't looking forward to. However, it was brilliant the food was nice, the staff were all friendly and spoke adequate English, the pool was very big and the beach just down the road was fantastic. the slope is a little steep but there are steps as an alternative. the nearby theme park was a great day out as was the aquapolis water park. Go karting is available with free transport from just up the road once every two hours but prices are high. The only let down for the hotel was the entertainment. there was water aerobics for two hours every morning from 10-12.
the rooms are very nice but four to one room did get a bit much. cigarettes are hard to come by whilst in cap salou unless you go to one of the tabaconists in the town of Salou.
it is very nice weather at the moment but we did face thunder and lightning the morning we left. all in all i would recommend this hotel to a majority of families unless you have very young children because the games room is about all there is for children. there are computers with internet which cost 10 cents a minute to use, 4 pool tables 2 air hockey tables and a few arcade machines. a few pubs just down the road... highly recommended. all in all i would recommend this hotel to a majority of families unless you have very young children because the games room is about all there is for children.
reception is open 24 hours a day

good luck

Comments:  My partner and i stayed in Cala font for 1 long week. Firstly we were told that we would be staying in Salou and when we arrived we felt like we were in the middle of nowhere! even the hotel guide said we were in Salou?

The walk into Salou was too tiring for me everday as i was 4 months pregnant so we had to get a taxi twice a day costing 7 euros per taxi. We had no choice but to go into Salou twice a day as the entertainment in our hotel was appauling. The other guests mainly Russian were not friendly what so ever.

The food was greasy and not very tasty. The only british food on offer was from the childrens menu which consisted of sausages and chips. I understand that we were in Spain but the food was ridiculous.

Cap Salou had a few bars but they were always dirty and expensive. The only entertainment was a small childrens fair ground and to top my holiday off we had to get a taxi to the airport as the bus was 2 hours late and all the reception staff kept saying was "it will be here".

The hotel was clean but i would not recommend it to anyone going to Salou.

Comments:  Myself and my partner have been back two days from our holiday in Cap Salou and we had such a great time I had to get my review in straight away to recommend it so people can get booked up NOW!

I initially booked this hotel 10 weeks ago as a last minute deal for a fantastic price!! (£189 p.p 1/2 board).
The rooms were basic but very clean, I requested a sea view about 4 weeks before we were due and we got in, you can't replace the memories of over looking the sea for 7 long sunny days! the reception/bar and restuarant area were excellent, there was a wide choice of food, being a vegetarian it was a little hard to eat lunch/dinner at the hotel but there was a choice of Salad,Pasta,Chips and Breads for those awkward eaters like me!!

The pool area was superb, the pool is plenty big enough for everyone, the jacuzzi was great and the waterfall wonderfully cool in the baking sun! although there is people who leave there towel on a sun lounger all day long not using it 90% of the time so beware.

Cap Salou village just down the road from the Cala font also provides a wide range of foods/beers for all tastes! would highly recommend the Paddock, also there is a supermercat directly opposite the hotel which is very slightly more expensive than the one round the corner.

I would recommend the Cala Font Hotel to anyone.

Hoping to return very soon!! but for now back to reality!!

Comments:  Couple, late forties, wanted quiet-ish beach holiday but with options for a late drink, music etc. Bit anxious after negative reviews about 'rude' staff and poor food. Not a bit of it. Reception (big, smart, 24hr) staff and bar staff all spoke enough English, were courteous and helpful. Cleaning staff did a superb job daily, both in our room and around the hotel.

The room was a good size with a spacious bathroom, balcony and fantastic sea view!

The very busy dining room staff could be unsmiling and 'briskly efficient' which could be mistaken by Brits as rudeness. But they, too, did a great job and were never rude or indifferent.

We had breakfast and dinner most days and were never disappointed. Breakfast was usual continental range, you know, cereals, bacon, egg, bangers, beans toast, cheeses, cold meats, all sorts of rolls, croissants - something for everyone. Same again at dinner - salads, pasta and rice dishes, fish and meat dishes, grills, stews, (chips of course) kid's stuff (chicken dippers, burgers, etc) great range of desserts and fruit, all from 6 til 10 each night, with little variation in quality that we noticed.

Bar prices were not as scary as some reviews warned. Local beers dead cheap, spirits with mixers a wee bit dearer but comparable with some of the local bars. In any case the 2-for-1 happy hour (11-12) made a good drink very affordable. Some of the night time entertainment might have been a bit 'Benidorm', but it was always enthusiastic (and free) and generally we enjoyed it. Lots of kids in the bar til a little after midnight which won't please everyone but we didn't mind.

Maybe we got lucky, but even though it's a big, busy hotel, we still had relatively undisturbed sleep at night, despite the seemingly paper thin walls.

Good sized pool and pool area with bar. It was early June and there seemed to be enough loungers to go around. In any case there's a great little beach a 1-minute (steep downhill) walk from hotel. Inexpensive little shop in the hotel, handy wee 'supermarket' across the road and (cheaper, better stocked) one around the corner.

Overall value - off the scale! Less than £600 for 2, for a week half board from Aberdeen!

Cap Salou is 2 or 3 km from Salou, a regular cheap and handy bus ride away. (Or reception will get you a taxi in minutes and it won't break the bank.) Salou's not about high culture but it's a great, fun resort, with loads of bars, cafes, restaurants, shops from tacky to classy. Superb, huge beach 2 minutes from the shops, etc.

All in all, a great holiday, in great mid-range hotel, in a great resort and good base for venturing a bit further afield, e.g. Tarragona (20 mins on train) worth a visit and Barcelona unmissable. (Forget the coach excursions, DIY by train - cheap, easy, about 90 minutes.) Would do the whole thing again without hesitation.

Comments:  Just back from a holiday in tha cala font. I thought the hotel was really nice and very clean the area was just as nice, the walk into salou was very plesant. I went with my wife and daughter aged 6 and we had a really good time. only complant was the pool, its was freezing my daughter came out after 10 mins with blue lips. Food in the hotel was ok and we found something we all liked every night, you cant expect to go to spain and have british food every night. Buses into salou are very 10 mins and are only 2 euros each.

Comments:  We have been to This part of Salou before in 1979 when it consisted of about 3 hotels and the same number of bar/restaurants. The rest was pine forest. We had a great holiday then. The area of Cap Salou where the Cala Font is situated has really gone down in my view.It now has new build and has about 8 bars all of which(except one ) are profiteering in my view. I did see the price of a bottle of magners at 6 euro!!(nearly a fiver). There is a tacky kids fairground. Lets say it has lost its innocence of the balmy days I remember.
The hotel itself is a decent 3 star in it's fabric. Our room was airy, clean, comfortable and with a nice bathroom. The maids were excellent and changed the towels every day if you wished. The food was passable but bland. Buffet style and as much as you liked. The restaurant had long opening hours so you have a good choice of when to eat.
The main problem was the guests!! Full of Russians who seem to be very insular and generally ill mannered. They could eat the proverbial scabby horse!!! We found they had little regard for our existance. The tales about the pool and sunbeds are true. Not enough. We found the 2 terraces at the far end overlooking the beach were best.
Hardly anyone put in an effort to dress ok for Dinner. It was mainly shorts t shirts(Or vest!). We felt overdressed in a pair of chinos and a shirt! The Brits were just as bad.
I have never seen as many children in one place at the same time(outside a school). Noisy, let to run wild.Up and down on their own in the lifts. The staff seemed to have given up on trying to impose any rules in the hotel. The main problem
also with the dining room was the lack of staff clearing tables. Nothing was cleared till you had finished, and so they ran out of things from time to time. The few staff tried hard but were overwhelmed. Some of the dining room staff were really nice and helpful but as I say totally overburdened.
Avoid this area, it has gone to the dogs and is complete with bars that overcharge.
Its a shame because the hotel has the potential for being a really really good 3 star hotel, but is let down by the area and its guests!

Comments:  I stayed in this hotel with my partner and our 1 year old baby. This hotel does not cater for children - especially small children. The food was disgusting and very greasy, every time I ate there I was ill, my child would only eat the chilled yoghurts therefore halfboard was a waste of money unless you like sausages chips and beans.
There are only 2 lifts in the hotel which are roughly 3ft by 3ft so a buggy and 2 people are a squeeze and when you have a hotel full of other foreigners it does not make for a happy time. The cot in the room was a death trap, our baby bumped his head on one of the spars after only being in it 5 mins, resulting in a huge lump and a dirty big black bruise which stayed there all holiday. When complaining to the reception they gave us a pillow apparently that would stop him getting hurt!!!! All in all this was very disappointing holiday and would not recommend this to anyone. The only thing I would say positively is the hotel was relatively clean. Children would be bored if you happened to experience bad weather. There was no entertainment and what was put on you wouldnt even see on the programme Benidorm, it was cringe worthy!

Comments:  My wife and I stayed at the Cala Font for 2 weeks.

This is a very nice hotel, far better than some of the equivalent 3* hotels you find in the old part of the main Salou resort....BUT, be warned, the hotel is situated on a short but fairly steep hill, but was not a problem to us.

Public transport around the hotel is plentiful and reasonably priced, with some nice small towns around Salou that are worth a visit. There is a nice walk into Salou along the bay that takes around 20 min's, but again it’s a fairly steep hill at the end of it.

TIP - if you want to make your own way into Barcelona, check out the price of the train.

The hotel has a nice pool, but not too large, and a pleasant pool area that is cleaned daily and is well looked after. there is also a small bar that serves the pool area. There is a small cove right next to the hotel with a sandy beach, ideal for swimming and relaxing. Sunbeds and pedelo’s are also available for hire.

TIP - request a high floor facing the pool. Any floor poolside has a good view of the pool area and the beach, on the other side of the hotel the lower floors look onto a bank, the higher floors look through trees and over a bay.

The hotel is pleasant and kept very clean by a small army of maids. Rooms were cleaned and towels changed every day, bed linen was changed every 3rd day.
The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful, and spoke very good English.

There is a good clean dining room, with a good choice of food; we always found plenty to eat.

Entertainment was geared more to children, so may be a problem if you want to sit in the hotel all night.

Overall we had an excellent holiday and would definitely stay there again.

Comments:  We visited Hotel Cap Salou early Sept 2007. We were a little apprehensive even though most of the reviews had been good.

The hotel itself is perfectly fine. Yes it allows dogs but we only saw them in reception or the corridors, not in any other public areas. We had no problems with noise from neighbouring rooms at all.

The food was adequate, what was there was fine but you could have done with more choice. We ate out 3 out of 7 nights. We swapped our dinner tickets for lunch on those days which is a fab system.

Happy hour was a nice time to return to the hotel. Entertainment wasn't great though.

The pools were nice but cold. Plenty of loungers to be had at that time of year.

Cap Salou itself is a 10 min 8 Euro taxi ride from Salou. We did walk it but it was a 45 min with one fairly steep hill. The hills in the immediate area to the hotel aren't too challenging. The bars in that area are fine too but not too much choice.

We spent 2 days at Portaventura and it is worth a visit if you enjoy that kind of thing. Get a taxi there - we attempted to get the train (doesn't run much in the mornings) and then a bus the first time. It took us 90 mins to get there and cost as much as the taxi would! Buses home are fine and well organised though.

Comments:  Hi, I stayed in Cap Salou, the hotel is called Hotel Cala Font I went with my mother, sister and her two children ages 3 and 5.

This Hotel was alright if you had no kids and wanted a quiet holiday. The food at this hotel was the same all the time. The weather was really bad it rained for 3 days and they had a flood you couldn’t see the streets for water it soon cleared up but it did get cold on a night.

The view we had from the hotel balcony was fantastic we had a view of the pool and the sea so I advise you e-mail the hotel and ask for one unless they might just put you anywhere.

The staff are very friendly, to go to the beach you had to go down a big hill the beach gets crowded so if you wanted a sunbed you had to be quick same goes for the pool the sunbeds by the pool are locked up till 10.00am then the lifeguard comes round and unlocks them.

They is no entertainment that’s why I went into Salou itself. Watch out for the taxis as they put on 3 Euros before they take you anywhere the bus is much cheaper for 2 adults it was 3.30 euros.
