Just got home after spending a week at the Cala Font and we had a wonderful holiday. The rooms although basic we're comfortable and cleaned everyday, which is definately needed with all the sand and dust. We had a room on the first floor at the rear of the hotel, which suited us fine as we have 2 young children so it was away from any noise on the beach/pool etc.
The food was good, with plenty of choice. Even I managed to find something and I am really quite fussy. Only problem was the fact you can only get a brew at breakfast time, and I'm not used to only running on one cup of tea a day! The time bands for meals we're brilliant and we never felt rushed to get to breakfast/dinner and we took advantage of being able to swap our dinner ticket for a lunch on a few days. For those with babies they had microwaves availiable in the dining room so no need to worry about heating meals/sterilising bottles!
The staff were all lovely, and especially friendly to our children. We didn't really use the entertainment or mini club as our children are only 1 and 4, so can't really comment on it.
We found plenty of stuff for us to do and never visited the same area more than once. The area is hilly but that is the same for the majority of Spain. If you need to go anywhere definately take the bus. They are never more than 15minutes apart on the way to Salou/Cambrills/Port Aventura and La Pineda. We did do the walk into Salou which with the children took about 45 minutes there but only about 30 back as it was all down hill, it was a little tiring but well worth it for some of the views were just beautiful.
Cap Salou itself was perfect for us. Our son loved the play park at the Tap House. Mickey's Bar has a kareoke and quiz most nights which was really enjoyable. There were plenty of "supermarkets" to choose from for bits for lunch, and bottles of water!
All in all we had a brilliant time and would definately go again!

Thought i'd add a comment on our holiday last year. Prior to our holiday we read other people's reviews on the forum and took their advice to e mail the hotel to request a room. We requested a sea view or pool view and got both. The hotel are good at honouring requests providing they get them in time.
Be prepared for a bit of a scramble for sunbeds and umbrellas, they are locked up over night and quite a lot of people end up in a battle to get a sunbed that works ! make sure you check that the back part of the sunbed isnt broken , otherwise you take that one and then its too late to change it by the time you find out and you end up lying horizontal all day !!!
The entertainment was ok and the children's club was not bad - but it is not secure as it is not ran by the holiday company just the hotel and children are free to roam in and out ,as a mum of a 5 year old girl i was a bit worried about that and ended up spending half my time colouring in too !
The hotel is right on a small safe beach which the kids loved and was never too busy even in school holidays.
The rooms were very clean on arrival and well cared for by the maid service. The food was okay , a huge selection of cakes (forget the diet !) usual stuff for breakfast , full english, cereal, toast, cheese, ham . bread etc. Nice choice at evening meal for all tastes and they have a chef carving the meat on certain days . Well worth a visit and we've stayed in salou itself , much prefer cap salou , quieter in the evenings - oh and theirs a little fair ground that the kids loved which is just round the corner and quite reasonably priced too ! Enjoy your holiday !

Recently we went on a family holiday to the Cala Font Hotel, which to be honest after some bad reviews we weren't looking forward to. However, it was brilliant the food was nice, the staff were all friendly and spoke adequate English, the pool was very big and the beach just down the road was fantastic. the slope is a little steep but there are steps as an alternative. the nearby theme park was a great day out as was the aquapolis water park. Go karting is available with free transport from just up the road once every two hours but prices are high. The only let down for the hotel was the entertainment. there was water aerobics for two hours every morning from 10-12.
the rooms are very nice but four to one room did get a bit much. cigarettes are hard to come by whilst in cap salou unless you go to one of the tabaconists in the town of Salou.
it is very nice weather at the moment but we did face thunder and lightning the morning we left. all in all i would recommend this hotel to a majority of families unless you have very young children because the games room is about all there is for children. there are computers with internet which cost 10 cents a minute to use, 4 pool tables 2 air hockey tables and a few arcade machines. a few pubs just down the road... highly recommended. all in all i would recommend this hotel to a majority of families unless you have very young children because the games room is about all there is for children.
reception is open 24 hours a day
good luck

My partner and i stayed in Cala font for 1 long week. Firstly we were told that we would be staying in Salou and when we arrived we felt like we were in the middle of nowhere! even the hotel guide said we were in Salou?
The walk into Salou was too tiring for me everday as i was 4 months pregnant so we had to get a taxi twice a day costing 7 euros per taxi. We had no choice but to go into Salou twice a day as the entertainment in our hotel was appauling. The other guests mainly Russian were not friendly what so ever.
The food was greasy and not very tasty. The only british food on offer was from the childrens menu which consisted of sausages and chips. I understand that we were in Spain but the food was ridiculous.
Cap Salou had a few bars but they were always dirty and expensive. The only entertainment was a small childrens fair ground and to top my holiday off we had to get a taxi to the airport as the bus was 2 hours late and all the reception staff kept saying was "it will be here".
The hotel was clean but i would not recommend it to anyone going to Salou.

Myself and my partner have been back two days from our holiday in Cap Salou and we had such a great time I had to get my review in straight away to recommend it so people can get booked up NOW!
I initially booked this hotel 10 weeks ago as a last minute deal for a fantastic price!! (£189 p.p 1/2 board).
The rooms were basic but very clean, I requested a sea view about 4 weeks before we were due and we got in, you can't replace the memories of over looking the sea for 7 long sunny days! the reception/bar and restuarant area were excellent, there was a wide choice of food, being a vegetarian it was a little hard to eat lunch/dinner at the hotel but there was a choice of Salad,Pasta,Chips and Breads for those awkward eaters like me!!
The pool area was superb, the pool is plenty big enough for everyone, the jacuzzi was great and the waterfall wonderfully cool in the baking sun! although there is people who leave there towel on a sun lounger all day long not using it 90% of the time so beware.
Cap Salou village just down the road from the Cala font also provides a wide range of foods/beers for all tastes! would highly recommend the Paddock, also there is a supermercat directly opposite the hotel which is very slightly more expensive than the one round the corner.
I would recommend the Cala Font Hotel to anyone.
Hoping to return very soon!! but for now back to reality!!

Couple, late forties, wanted quiet-ish beach holiday but with options for a late drink, music etc. Bit anxious after negative reviews about 'rude' staff and poor food. Not a bit of it. Reception (big, smart, 24hr) staff and bar staff all spoke enough English, were courteous and helpful. Cleaning staff did a superb job daily, both in our room and around the hotel.
The room was a good size with a spacious bathroom, balcony and fantastic sea view!
The very busy dining room staff could be unsmiling and 'briskly efficient' which could be mistaken by Brits as rudeness. But they, too, did a great job and were never rude or indifferent.
We had breakfast and dinner most days and were never disappointed. Breakfast was usual continental range, you know, cereals, bacon, egg, bangers, beans toast, cheeses, cold meats, all sorts of rolls, croissants - something for everyone. Same again at dinner - salads, pasta and rice dishes, fish and meat dishes, grills, stews, (chips of course) kid's stuff (chicken dippers, burgers, etc) great range of desserts and fruit, all from 6 til 10 each night, with little variation in quality that we noticed.
Bar prices were not as scary as some reviews warned. Local beers dead cheap, spirits with mixers a wee bit dearer but comparable with some of the local bars. In any case the 2-for-1 happy hour (11-12) made a good drink very affordable. Some of the night time entertainment might have been a bit 'Benidorm', but it was always enthusiastic (and free) and generally we enjoyed it. Lots of kids in the bar til a little after midnight which won't please everyone but we didn't mind.
Maybe we got lucky, but even though it's a big, busy hotel, we still had relatively undisturbed sleep at night, despite the seemingly paper thin walls.
Good sized pool and pool area with bar. It was early June and there seemed to be enough loungers to go around. In any case there's a great little beach a 1-minute (steep downhill) walk from hotel. Inexpensive little shop in the hotel, handy wee 'supermarket' across the road and (cheaper, better stocked) one around the corner.
Overall value - off the scale! Less than £600 for 2, for a week half board from Aberdeen!
Cap Salou is 2 or 3 km from Salou, a regular cheap and handy bus ride away. (Or reception will get you a taxi in minutes and it won't break the bank.) Salou's not about high culture but it's a great, fun resort, with loads of bars, cafes, restaurants, shops from tacky to classy. Superb, huge beach 2 minutes from the shops, etc.
All in all, a great holiday, in great mid-range hotel, in a great resort and good base for venturing a bit further afield, e.g. Tarragona (20 mins on train) worth a visit and Barcelona unmissable. (Forget the coach excursions, DIY by train - cheap, easy, about 90 minutes.) Would do the whole thing again without hesitation.

Just back from a holiday in tha cala font. I thought the hotel was really nice and very clean the area was just as nice, the walk into salou was very plesant. I went with my wife and daughter aged 6 and we had a really good time. only complant was the pool, its was freezing my daughter came out after 10 mins with blue lips. Food in the hotel was ok and we found something we all liked every night, you cant expect to go to spain and have british food every night. Buses into salou are very 10 mins and are only 2 euros each.

We have been to This part of Salou before in 1979 when it consisted of about 3 hotels and the same number of bar/restaurants. The rest was pine forest. We had a great holiday then. The area of Cap Salou where the Cala Font is situated has really gone down in my view.It now has new build and has about 8 bars all of which(except one ) are profiteering in my view. I did see the price of a bottle of magners at 6 euro!!(nearly a fiver). There is a tacky kids fairground. Lets say it has lost its innocence of the balmy days I remember.
The hotel itself is a decent 3 star in it's fabric. Our room was airy, clean, comfortable and with a nice bathroom. The maids were excellent and changed the towels every day if you wished. The food was passable but bland. Buffet style and as much as you liked. The restaurant had long opening hours so you have a good choice of when to eat.
The main problem was the guests!! Full of Russians who seem to be very insular and generally ill mannered. They could eat the proverbial scabby horse!!! We found they had little regard for our existance. The tales about the pool and sunbeds are true. Not enough. We found the 2 terraces at the far end overlooking the beach were best.
Hardly anyone put in an effort to dress ok for Dinner. It was mainly shorts t shirts(Or vest!). We felt overdressed in a pair of chinos and a shirt! The Brits were just as bad.
I have never seen as many children in one place at the same time(outside a school). Noisy, let to run wild.Up and down on their own in the lifts. The staff seemed to have given up on trying to impose any rules in the hotel. The main problem
also with the dining room was the lack of staff clearing tables. Nothing was cleared till you had finished, and so they ran out of things from time to time. The few staff tried hard but were overwhelmed. Some of the dining room staff were really nice and helpful but as I say totally overburdened.
Avoid this area, it has gone to the dogs and is complete with bars that overcharge.
Its a shame because the hotel has the potential for being a really really good 3 star hotel, but is let down by the area and its guests!

I stayed in this hotel with my partner and our 1 year old baby. This hotel does not cater for children - especially small children. The food was disgusting and very greasy, every time I ate there I was ill, my child would only eat the chilled yoghurts therefore halfboard was a waste of money unless you like sausages chips and beans.
There are only 2 lifts in the hotel which are roughly 3ft by 3ft so a buggy and 2 people are a squeeze and when you have a hotel full of other foreigners it does not make for a happy time. The cot in the room was a death trap, our baby bumped his head on one of the spars after only being in it 5 mins, resulting in a huge lump and a dirty big black bruise which stayed there all holiday. When complaining to the reception they gave us a pillow apparently that would stop him getting hurt!!!! All in all this was very disappointing holiday and would not recommend this to anyone. The only thing I would say positively is the hotel was relatively clean. Children would be bored if you happened to experience bad weather. There was no entertainment and what was put on you wouldnt even see on the programme Benidorm, it was cringe worthy!

Well, where to begin. Myself, Brother, Mum and Dad stayed in this hotel. We have been to Cap Salou before, stayin at the Ontario Apartments which i must say was a much better accommodation than this one. The Hotel itself was nice, not the best, but it was satifactory. The very big let down about this hotel was the Food. Let me tell you know, if you are planning on staying full board or inclusiv, i recomend you stay at a different hotel. Disgusting is the word to discribe the food. There really isn't enough food to chose from, unless you like Goat, Pigs head, Monk Fish, and to top it all off, you have to eat the same meal every day for how long you are planning on staying. There is no change in the menu, and after two days or so, i can gaurentee you will be ccomplaining about the food.
The Entertainment is not pleasing at all. If the hotel is providing entertainers then they should atleast be good. For entertainment, me and my family had to walk down to the small tap bar across the road, where the entertainment is a lot better.
At the hotel there are a lot of Russian people, which i didn't have a problem with, but that all depends on your opinion. There wern't a lot of English people there.
The Staff were friendly, but the one thing was, the cleaners. If your expecting a lie- in (Sleep till 11 am) then i wouldn't bank on it as the cleaners just walk into your room with their key and wake you up at about 8 in the morning, and thats everyday!
Overall, i wouldn't recomend this hotel for anyone staying full board or inclusive as in my opinion, i didn't like it.
Thanks for taking the time to read, i'm just sharing my opinion with you to make sure you choose the right hotel/apartment.
