I have just returned from a two week holiday at The Cala Font Hotel and I enjoyed the holiday so much!!! The staff were friendly, the rooms were clean, the maid service was excellent, the food was delicious and suitable for all ages.

The resort was nice and relaxed in the day time but at night the bars would have happy hour and the music, karaoke and games would start!!!!! We booked 2 excursions the jeep safari which was so much fun I would recommend this to everyone what a great day out full of water fights and cool swims in a mountain lake!

However we also booked the luxury catamaran however our rep told us to wait outside a certain hotel we figured the reception yet she meant the side near the pool a bit confusing so I suggest that you either make it certain with the rep where you must stand or get the members of your party to separate and stand at different points as we also nearly missed the jeep safari as we again were in the wrong place due to the rep again not making it clear!! #

Sadly we returned home the day after the scare at Heathrow airport yet our rep didn’t mention any problems until our hotel transfer where she told us we had to divert to Gerona airport, a 3 and a half hour drive. Our rep again gave us the wrong information about hand luggage which made everyone irate. Overall our holiday was great!!!!

We booked this particular hotel as it was very reasonable priced for a three star half board hotel. We arrived late at night and we did not realise until morning that we had booked a hotel in Cap Salou as opposed to Salou itself.

The hotel was very nice on first impression, the entertainment is provided daily and carried on until late most nights. We had a clean, fairly spacious room overlooking the pool and the sea. The food was ok, it was the same thing most days but extremely limited for vegetarians (pretty much had to make use of the salads every day), there was a small children’s section which was particularly good serving the usual children’s favourites i.e. chips, sausage, nuggets etc.

Considering we went out of children’s holidays, it was extremely busy and was almost impossible to get a place around the pool unless you got there extremely early, we never managed it once in our 8 night stay however the beach which was only approximately 50m away was a nice alternative. Cap Salou itself is approx 3-4 miles away from Salou and I wouldn't say it is walk able, a taxi would be needed or the local bus (the bus stop is located right outside the hotel), however Cap Salou itself has a very small number of bars and places to eat.

Overall the hotel was lovely and clean, the food ok, entertainment excellent. Ideal if you are looking for a relaxing break away but not in the heart of everything. Cannot complain for the price we paid.

This was our 4th visit to the hotel. Situated 4km from main salou a delightful well run hotel cleanliness. Excellent staff extremely friendly and helpful. Good for a families who are looking for a quieter holiday but still close enough to the main resort for people wanting something more lively.

Food is plentiful but by the second week can become a little repetitive. But on the whole if you want a cheap holiday in a good standard hotel with entertainment and friendly staff this is the place for you.

This year for 1 week in may, booking direct, return flights and half board from Teesside for a family of 4 it cost just under £700! Beat that!

As you will see by looking down the reviews, this is our second visit to this hotel. The main reason being that we could not expect any other hotel to improve on last year’s standards - we were wrong! The Cala Font managed it! The food was superb - we have an 8 and 3 year old (as well as a 39 & 34 year old) and the choice for lunch and dinner was exceptional - always something different, always well cooked, more than enough for the kids. As for the breakfasts and desserts - throw those diet books away - you will not be able to resist.

Once again, the staff are so pleasant, work tirelessly and cannot do enough for you (especially on reception). The whole hotel is kept so clean and tidy and the maids work tirelessly to clean your room, make your beds and change your towels every day. The only reason this hotel does not get 10/10 is that it is pet friendly which does not suit us but maybe we are in the minority. The man who runs the little shop also deserves a mention - happy, helpful, great with kids and selling just what you need at very reasonable prices.

As we did last year, bought Port Aventura tickets from Keith Prowse website, not the cheapest but very reliable (arrived within a week of ordering). Rides, stage shows, food, drink and all round entertainment are fantastic.

Hotel is situated in Cap Salou which has bars, restaurants and plenty of entertainment for kids. When the hotel entertainment ends at midnight, the outside lights are turned off which allows a good nights sleep. It is a 5 min bus ride from Salou (£1 per person, under 4's free) which has all the nightlife anyone could need.

We also visited the Go Karting track twice during our visit (via the free bus which runs every couple of hours). Very reasonable prices for excellent entertainment including kids bungee trampolines and suicidal adult caged bungee rides as well as karts for ages 4 - 94.

Overall, we had another superb holiday based at the Cala Font. Our only worry is that by posting this review, we may find in difficult to book for next year.

Lovely hotel located very close to the beach (50m). Fabulous sea view in 3/4 of rooms. Very clean. Fridges can be hired on request. Staff were very helpful.

Entertainment was good, excellent children’s entertainer's, however no daytime entertainment and kids disco didn't start until 10pm, so prepare for a late night. Our stay ended on 1/6/06 and new summer entertainment programme was about to begin with daytime entertainment and kids club.

Pool was nice. Always plenty of sun beds and parasols (didn't have to fight for them as in most hotels!).

Food was fine, managed to feed the most fussiest of children without a problem. Wonderful selection of fresh fruit everyday. Hotel was very accommodating and was able to swap evening meal for a lunchtime meal. Will also arrange early breakfasts for early departures.

Hotel also has a nice little shop that sells most things, apart from food. However, there is a small supermarket opposite hotel entrance and a larger supermarket about 200m away.

Would strongly recommend this hotel however be prepared to catch lots of buses or taxis if you want to go into Salou. All in all had a wonderful holiday at this hotel and I would definitely stay there again.

Lovely Hotel and the Hotel is in a fabulous location as its right next to the beach.Rooms were a nice size and clean and clean towels were replaced everyday.

Nice quiet family surrounding area with just a few bars and small play area for Children.

Local buses run very frequently to Salou and Tarragona and are very reasonably priced (1.40 euros each way)

Only critisism was that the food in the hotel became a little repetative and there wasn't much choice on the childrens menu. We had to go and buy food for the Children in the evening.

Overall the holiday was lovely, the hotel was lovely and the location was perfect.

Me and my partner stayed here on the 8th May for 4 nights, when we arrived at the hotel the outlook of the hotel was very large, clean and everyone seemed happy.

The rooms were a very good size and the request that I had put in was honored (sea view and high floor).

The food was very nice and plenty of it, the staff were all helpful and the pool area was large and spotlessly clean as no one can smoke around the pool area, they have an elevated area from the bar where people can smoke

The beach is literally 50 yards away from the hotel and really clean, I have re-booked for September and cant wait to return. The transfers in a taxi from the airport are only 35 euros each way which is not bad for a 25 minute journey.

My partner and I stayed here with our 3 year old son in April. The beach front location is great. The area around the hotel is quite hilly although there is a bus stop at the top of the hill which takes you to Salou, La Pineda, Barcelona etc.

Bus prices are very cheap and are very regular - about every 10 minutes. The beaches are lovely. The rooms in this hotel are fine. Kept clean - good maid service. Reception staff will do anything you ask. Pool was lovely. Food was good although restaurant got quite busy at times.

The only thing that let this hotel down was the lack of entertainment - only had a guy on a piano who played for 3 nights out of our week. We went to neighbouring hotels for entertainment. All in all a great, clean place to stay.

I booked the Cala Font hotel for a large family holiday ( there were 20 of us ages 7 to 67)

I had been to the hotel before and was very impressed with how clean the rooms and public areas are kept. The food is buffet style and well presented. None of our party did not find something to eat in fact most of us must have put on some weight. The hotel staff are helpful and friendly.

We visited Port Aventura only had 1 day but 2/3 days would be kinder to your feet and legs. Try to get some of the discount tickets.

Karting Salou Adrenaline park just outside of Salou is fantastic, well my 14-15 year old grandsons thought so. We all had a great time.

The Gift shop in the hotel is run by the most cheerful obliging man you could ever meet and his prices are usually cheaper.

One word of warning!! I hired a car from WELCOME CAR - Salou, who the hotel use as agents.

When I collected the car there was quite bad damage to the front wing which was pointed out to me and marked on the contract. When I returned the car they seemed quick to point out a stone chip in the windscreen which was not coved by the insurance and was almost impossible to see from inside the car as it was behind the mirror. The fact that the windscreen was not covered by insurance was not pointed out at the time of hire and cost me another €200. I think I was ripped off but cannot prove it. I just wonder how many other tourist are conned by this scam. BEWARE hire a car from a major company.

Would recommend the Hotel Cala Font for a good value holiday.

Wow, what a great value for money hotel. We were so pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness, friendliness of staff, relaxed family atmosphere and variety of food on offer.

The full time life guard allowed peace of mind. Plenty of sunbeds on offer.

Rooms were cleaned to a very high standard every day.

All staff were courteous.

The hotel location is very ideally placed, half way between the bustling noisy Salou and the more gently paced La Pineda. We ventured onto the excellent 24-hour bus service which was extremely well priced and frequent.

An altogether great family holiday and amazing value for money.!

The Cala Font Hotel is spotlessly clean and offers excellent food and customer service. It is in the small village of Cap Salou which has several beautiful coves with safe sandy beaches.

There are also bars, restaurants, shops and a fairground. Salou is a £1 bus ride away and Port Aventura is a 20 minute ride (again only £1) away. The staff are extremely pleasant and cannot do enough for you - especially the maids who do an excellent job cleaning your room daily.

Port Aventura is superb. We had a 7 year old and a 3 year old with us and they both thought the place was heaven on earth. Buy your tickets in the UK (we used Keith Prowse) as you may have to queue otherwise. We visited 8 times mostly at around 4-5pm when the queues for the rides were no more that 5-10 minutes.

Salou itself offers anything you could want from a Med holiday - beautiful beaches, numerous shops, bars, nightlife and restaurants.

If you are looking for a quiet base for a holiday on the Costa Dorada, you could not do better that booking the Cala Font.

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel which was ideally situated near a small cove beach and close to theme park and ideally situated for a day trip to Barcelona the pool was lovely and there was a paddling pool for toddlers also a toddlers play area and kids club(which I did not use as I like to spend time with my kids on holiday) but it was there for those who like this facility.

My kids age from 12 down to 3 and I found this hotel

Catered for all ages including adults.

The resorts of La Pineda and Salou are easily accessible and well worth a look. I loved the cleanliness of this hotel and the staff went the extra mile.-superb

The hotel was great, have to agree with other reviews about the food though, it was a little repetitive.

The pool was great and had a lifeguard on duty all the time the pool was open.

Very clean, rooms cleaned every day, sheets changed every 3rd day.

We had a 3 day pass to the theme park, and a free day at the water park. You cannot take any food or drinks in with you, and boy do they charge for them, 3.10 euros for a drink. (about £2.40).

Buses ran every few minutes, never had to wait long. Trains run from Salou to Barcelona takes about 1 1/2 hours, very clean and efficient. Try the zoo, dolphin show is a must, also some very cheeky chimps.

The Cala Font Hotel itself was beautiful, very clean and very helpful staff. The pool was a great size, plus you were literally beside the beach, however you are not anywhere near Salou. You are actually in a separate town called Cap Salou, made up of hotels and apartments. There are a couple of restaurants and bars but not many so I would not recommend self-catering in this area unless you plan to self-cater most nights!

There is a great fun park for the kids so Cap Salou is definitely better for families than couples. We stayed half-board and that was our only disappointment with the hotel. The food was great quality and plenty of it but it was the same buffet choice every night, which made our meals very repetitive. Despite all that Salou is very well placed as you are close to great theme parks, water parks and Barcelona, which is amazing!

I have never enjoyed a holiday quite so much. Beautiful hotel, very helpful staff, and the rooms cleaned every day.

Before I went on my holiday I e-mailed the hotel and asked for a sea view and a fridge in my room. When I arrived I was not disappointed, there was the most beautiful sea view ever

From my room, and a fridge in my room. The cost for the fridge was 4 euros each day. The food at the hotel was good. We all got enough to fill us.

However I would not recommend any more than 2 or 3 days at the theme park, any more is just too much.

The Cala font hotel is in Cap Salou, which is only a 5 minute bus ride away from Salou. The price for this is only 1.20 each in Euros.

I am making a return visit to this hotel this year as I enjoyed it so much.
